JOB FAIR Coverage at SM City San Lazaro

Last Wednesday, May 1, 2013, as numbers of rallyist march down in protest for higher compensation etc. for Malacanang, thousands of job seekers on the other hand troop down to different SM City malls all over the country not to rally and do demonstrations but to look for jobs that best fit for them. Yup, SM Supermalls together with the Department of Labor held their annual Job Fair for the convenience of job seekers.

This collaboration aims to provide job for thousands of jobless individual. There were 68 employers present at the JOB FAIR and there are 6,000 vacant positions or works waiting for the applicants. Isn’t it great! I just don’t know yet how many applicants got lucky and landed a job. Great to know that the JOB FAIR went very well and organize and I can say it is because I did talked to some of the applicants. I even got to know how they were managed by the mall by having a stamp mark on their hands knowing that they have registered as applicants. You can see also the long lines across the mall. According to SM Supermalls a rough estimate of over 81,600 people registered for the nationwide JOB FAIR.

Present during the JOB FAIR and welcomed the applicants are Ms. Lea Casamayor, SM City San Lazaro’s Mall Manager and Ms. Ruby Daquigan, DOLE Representative. According to Ms. Lea Casamayor, the population of job applicants increases yearly and last year they able to have 600 plus applicants, for this year they are expecting roughly 1,000 applicants.

Living up with their tag line “we’ve got it all for you.” SM Supermalls did it having most of what the applicants for the JOB FAIR needs. It’s like a one stop shop.

Since they got it all, lunch was also available for the applicants with SM City San Lazaro’s variety of establishments to choose from like the restaurants and fast food chains. Of course they have to pay for it. Good thing is that SM Food Court is there with their hot and steamy meals from their tenant that can fill up those hungry tummies. This season SM Food Court offers their promos like the Free Eco Bag for every Php250.00 single receipt worth of meals or a Manila Bulletin newspaper for every Php200.00 single receipt worth of purchase. Some of the food establishments that are new in SM City San Lazaro Food Court are the “Sisig Hooray” and the “Binalot” or you can opt in for much cheaper tummy filler from “Master Siomai”. Thanks to SM Food Court for another great luncheon, it was really tummy filler as we cover the JOB FAIR 2013.

Of course a meal wouldn’t be complete without dessert that’s why Sir Jesse of SM Supermalls led us to another new food establishment in SM City San Lazaro, the “Bread Story”. According to the manager the store is just newly opened and it originated from Malaysia. They have only four branches here in the Philippines, SM Southmall which is their first, SM Fairview, Robinson’s Galleria and of course in SM City San Lazaro.

As the number of applicants troop in we decided to stroll around for a while and see more of what’s new with SM City San Lazaro and also check out new stores and establishments. It seems that the day was almost over but the line of the people looking for jobs is still long.

Snack time and the bloggers were treated once more for another gastronomic experience as Kenny Rogers in SM City San Lazaro, which is by the way a franchise, laid down their newest healthy offerings the Roasted Pork Burrito, Ranch Pork Quesadilla, and Roast Pork Belly. All of them are mouthwatering but what I like most is the Ranch Pork Quesadilla which is tasty with its cheese, I like cheese very much you know.

Still with a long line of applicants and with a big burp we ended the day! See you again next SM City San Lazaro I do hope that plenty job seekers were hired or yet going to be hired.
