DJ and Singer, Papa Obet of Barangay LS 97.1’s unveils “Papa Obet Sessions EP”

DJs or Disc Jocks are the voice behind our favorite radio stations and our story or our kwento for now is about one of your favorite disc jocks in Barangay LS 97.1 none other Papa Obet. Yes, Papa Obet is now and officially a recording artist as he releases “Papa Obet Sessions,” it's an EP under GMA Music released last December 10, on-air and on digital streaming platforms worldwide.

Containing four tracks: "Ikaw Lang At Ako," (composed and originally performed by Janno Gibbs), "Kung Mababalik Ko Lang," by 604, "Kung Malaya Lang Ako," by Kris Lawrence and Papa Obet’s original composition "Ang Una Kong Pasko," this EP is a dream come true for him who shared during his interview that the ambition written in his high school yearbook was “to be a successful recording artist.”

“The EP was inspired by the Spotlight Music Sessions, an online music channel which showcases the talent of Pinoy artists through live performances,” he says.

“Ang Una Kong Pasko” is dedicated to the OFWs who are spending their Christmas away from their loved ones. “It was inspired by my experience when I had to spend Christmas on my own for the first time. And I dedicate this to the OFWs who are miles away from their families and are celebrating Christmas far from home for the first time,” shares Papa Obet.

Before becoming a Barangay LS disc jock, Papa Obet used to join various singing contests including GMA’s talent competition Protégé. He is also the songwriter behind Barangay LS’ theme song "Tayo Ay Forever" sang by Kapuso artists Ken Chan and Rita Daniela.

“I still can’t believe that my singing career could actually get this far. I’ve always wanted to be a radio DJ, but I’ve been singing since I was a child. I would join singing contests in Bataan and sometimes win. Then, I became a DJ here at Barangay LS and I’ve been here for 10 years. And now, GMA Music has given me an opportunity to be an official and legit recording artist and it has been really fun working with them,” says Papa Obet.

So, does a talented DJ receives weird requests on his show during the pandemic? Well, according to Papa Obet there are no weird requests but he mentioned that his show in Barangay LS 97.1 sure made a number of listeners and followers. That was probably the weirdest thing that happened to him during the pandemic. Fortunately, I made a follow-up question to Papa Obet, does he entertain listeners who request him to sing? So, according to Papa Obet, this is actually not new because he does sing and he even shared that there are listeners who ask and made requests for him to sing the song, that is what they did in his online show. What else can you expect from a DJ ballader, nothing but pure heartfelt songs.

Catch the Music Video of Golden Canedo's Single "More Than Before"

The very first Champion of The Clash, Golden Canedo, just recently released her latest single "More Than Before". This was aired exclusively on Barangay LS 97.1FM from June 12 - June 19 to give listeners a first dibs on Golden's newest song. The latest single is Canedo's second orginal single released under GMA Music, composed by none other than the hitmaker Mr. Vehnee Saturno.

The music video was directed by Philip Lazaro which was shot at Villa Engracia Garden and Farm Resort in Valenzuela, and is all about breaking up and getting a second chance at love.

Golden is also the voice behind "Tayo Pa Rin" and "Nakikita Ba Ang Langit", the theme song from the GMA series, "Kara Mia." She is also a mainstay in the variety show "Studio 7," which airs every Saturday at 10PM.

"More Than Before" is now available for download and streaming in digital stores worldwide.

Kapuso OST Princess Hannah Precillas Debuts First Single ‘Kung Walang Ikaw’

We've all heard her sing many theme songs for different Kapuso TV Series and she have made us remember these teleseryes. With her signing contract with GMA Music last month, Hannah Precillas, the Kapuso OST Princess takes her singing career to the next level as she debuts her very first single, 'Kung Walang Ikaw'.

Hannah, now a certified recording artist, treats all of this milestones in her life both as a blessing and an achievement. According to her “When I was a little girl, ang pangarap ko lang talaga is kumanta in front of people, and now I get to sing my own song and fulfill my dream. I feel really blessed and grateful na nabibigyan ako ng mga ganitong opportunity.”

Currently, the pop single played and heard on air is the theme song of GMA’s new well-loved series ‘Hiram Na Anak’. It's emotional track that tells about love and the promises that come with it. But for Hannah, the song is not just for couples. “Ako nakakarelate ako dun sa kanta kasi para sa akin, it’s universal. Kumbaga, hindi lang siya about romantic love between two individuals pero in all forms like for your parents and friends. I’m sure marami ring makakarelate rito in that way,” she shared. Hannah also recorded one of the theme songs of GMA’s upcoming primetime series,Love You Two, and is also looking forward to making more of her own music.

The song 'Kung Walang Ikaw' is composed by Vehnee Saturno and is now available for download andstreaming on iTunes, Spotify, and digital stores worldwide.

Hannah came to be known after being the top contender for GMA Network’s reality talent show, Bet ng Bayan. She is also the voice behind the theme songs of top-rated series Onanay; Kambal, Karibal; Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka; and Kapag Nahati Ang Puso.
