J-Pop queen Hikaru Utada makes an impactful return with the digital release of her eighth studio album, Bad Mode on January 19, Wednesday—the same date as her birthday.

Delivering yet another pop masterpiece with sophisticated edge, the global superstar solidifies her iconic status with a string of envelope-pushing jams such as “One Last Kiss,” the theme song to EVANGELION:3.0+1.0 THRICE UPON A TIME; “PINK BLOOD,” the soundtrack to anime drama To Your Eternity; and “Face My Fears,” which was written and produced by Hikaru Utada alongside chart-topping producers Skrillex and Poo Bear—to name a few.

Utada’s new record contains four bonus tracks and three new songs, including self-titled “BAD MODE,” “Kibunja Naino (Not In The Mood),” and “Somewhere Near Marseilles.” The former is a euphoric electro-pop tune that is characterized by breezy melodies and soaring vocals, a quality that is rampant throughout her latest release. Its music video, directed by Joe Conner (Sam Smith’s” Pray” and Coldplay’s “Everglow”), is set to premiere during her online concert, "Hikaru Utada Live Sessions from Air Studios.”

Hikaru Utada’s new studio album, Bad Mode will be available on CD format (February 23), and on vinyl format (April 27). Following its release, the best-selling Japanese singer-songwriter and producer will be reissuing all her beloved classic albums on limited-edition vinyl: First Love, Distance, and DEEP RIVER, will drop on March 10, while ULTRA BLUE, HEART STATION and Fantôme will be available for the first time on vinyl this April 27, as well as an encore pressing of the Hatsukoi vinyl.

Kiana Valenciano ends 2019 on a high note while simultaneously setting her sights on bigger things this 2020, starting with the release of her latest single “Hide My Love,” produced under ABS-CBN Music’s Tarsier Records.

The track, a chilled out tune perfect for laid back listening, showcases the singer-songwriter’s soothing voice complemented by the record’s slow jam and soft beats. Its lyrics, however, present a realized sense of love, in which a person embraces the beauty of letting his/her love out for the world to see.

Reflecting on the process of writing the song, Kiana said, “This song came naturally when I was exploring different cities, meeting new people and learning about myself and the kind of love I want to give and receive. I see it belonging with Alternative R&B, Chilled R&B.”

Fans were quick to vibe with the song, expressing delight over Kiana’s music. “Love it so much, Ate Kians! What a year it has been for you and your music,” tweeted @chanelleureta13.

Angelo Quijano meanwhile voiced excitement on YouTube over witnessing the artist’s talent in the flesh. “Yasss!!! Have a tour in Manila please badly want to watch you perform live!!!” he wrote.

“Hide My Love” was vocally arranged by Jesse Barrera, produced by Nick Pacoli, and recorded at Los Angeles, California in the U.S. This is the follow-up to the artist’s first full-length album “See Me” released early this year, which featured 10 self-written tracks, including the carrier single “5:30.” She has also dropped other successful singles such as “Circles” and “Does She Know.”

This 2020, Kiana will undoubtedly continue to reach out to the world through her music, in continuation of ABS-CBN’s commitment to introduce the unique artistry of Filipino talents to the international music scene.

KEANE wanders on a new ‘Strangeland’ --- their latest album, that is. Strangeland (2012) is the fourth studio album by English alternative rock band Keane. It is their first full length album since Perfect Symmetry (2008), as well as the first to feature bassist Jesse Quin as an official member. Keane offers a refreshing sound through Strangeland. Helen Lear of The Music describes the new album as, “middle-of-the-road indie-pop”, and “pretty much what you would expect from Keane, but the tempo is noticeably more upbeat and the style more diverse than previous albums. It offers some more fun in a grown-up style that may attract new fans to take a listen." Keane achieved mainstream success with the release of their debut album, Hopes and Fears, in 2004. The album won multiple awards and was the second best-selling British album of the year. Their second studio album, Under the Iron Sea, continued the band's success, topping the album charts in the UK and debuting at number-four on the Billboard 200 chart. In May 2008, both Hopes and Fears and Under the Iron Sea were voted by readers of Q magazine as among the best British albums ever, with Keane, The Beatles, Oasis and Radiohead as the only artists having two albums in the Top 20.
