Shawarma Shack Provides Help For the Victims of Taal Volcano

8:03:00 PM

The notable buy one take one shawarma store and one of the easiest access to Middle Eastern food, Shawarma Shack, made an effort to visit the affected communities of the recent Taal Volcano eruption, particularly those in Tanauan City, Batangas. The company donated bottled water and relief goods to over 1,000 families in different areas.

This good effort came from the heart of Shawarma Shack founder Walther Buenavista's wife, Patricia Buenavista, who spent her early childhood in Tanauan City. It was disclosed that she has relatives residing in the area when the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) raised alert level 4 for Taal Volcano on January 12, 2020.

Multiple houses and livelihoods were destroyed since the volcano started erupting, forcing residents within the 14-kilometer radius from the main crater to immediately evacuate. This is when the bayanihan evidently blossomed among Filipinos—everyone, even in their own little way, lent a helping hand.

Shawarma Shack visited and gave aid to 170 families relocated to La Consolation College, 70 families at Daughters of Mary Immaculate School, 89 families at Tanauan Local Government Unit Evacuation Center, 120 families at Tapia Elementary School in Barangay Trapiche, 98 families at Jesus is Lord Christian School, 45 families at Tanauan City College, 250 families at Pamahalaang Sentral ng Hilagang Tanauan, 98 families at Ulango Elementary School, and 92 families at Pantay Bata Elementary School.

Tanauan City Vice Mayor Atty. Herminigildo "Jun-jun" G. Trinidad assisted the Buenavista family along with other Shawarma Shack volunteers during this relief operation.

Get a glimpse of how Shawarma Shack extended a helping hand to Taal Volcano eruption victims by watching this video.

A Spin of Jollibee's New “todo” Cheesy Classic Jolly Hotdog Ad

11:56:00 PM

If you like "Todo" ads of Jollibee then you might also like the "todo" products because the “todo” energy continues as Jollibee releases yet another hilarious commercial to show the over-the-top deliciousness that comes with every bite of Jolly Hotdog.

Featuring a fitness enthusiast going 110% during a spinning class, the Todo Spinning video segues to Jolly Hotdog’s “todo sarap” abundance of cheesy dressing, ketchup, and grated cheese on top of an extra meaty sausage.

This new ad is the latest in a series of wacky and entertaining videos which shows how people can be as “todo” as the “todo sarap” Cheesy Classic Jolly Hotdog.

It all began with the Todo Drama and Todo Clingy Jolly Hotdog commercials starring actor Joshua Garcia. These funny ads fleshed out the idea of over-the-top dramatic acting, with Garcia emoting heavily in front of his friends who all ate their Jolly Hotdog sandwiches without him in the first video. The second video reverses the roles—this time, it’s his friends who are extra dramatic and clingy with him. In the end, they all enjoy something that matches their “todoness”—the Jolly Hotdog!

The Joshua Garcia ads were then followed by a Todo Wall Climbing video, which shows a climber struggling to move up, only to see someone else easily climbing the wall vertically and even horizontally with his “todo” skills.

These “todo” ads—with the latest installment spinning its way to hilarity and taking the spinner’s riding class to a whole new level—should make you crave for a Cheesy Classic Jolly Hotdog from the Jollibee store nearest you! What are you waiting for? Indulge in the delicious Jolly Hotdog, available for dine-in, take-out, delivery, and drive-thru in all Jollibee stores nationwide for only PHP 50.00!

"The Last Manilaners" Shares The Stories of Holocaust Survivors Rescued by Philippines

1:32:00 PM

It's interesting that there are part of our history that is being told by different nationalities, how our country and leaders of this country saved them during the time of world crisis. I'll be sharing my insights soon but for now catch this stories of the last living Holocaust survivors who sought refuge in the Philippines after fleeing Nazi Germany – known as Manilaners – are opening up about growing up in Manila in a new original documentary series that is now streaming on iWant.

Titled “The Last Manilaners,” the documentary features the perspectives of Margot Pins Kestenbaum, Max Weissler, and Lotte Hershfield, who were children when their families suffered persecution in their homeland for being Jews. They are three of the 1,300 Jews who found a safe haven in the Philippines through Pres. Manuel L. Quezon’s open-door policy – a little known story in history depicted in the film “Quezon’s Game.”

Lotte recalls travelling for four weeks with her family from Germany to the Philippines – “basically the only country that permitted us to come in.” To this day, she can still sing “Bahay Kubo” and remembers Filipinos as friendly and “very, very musical.”

“You can go to the beach every day. You can pick up shells, go swimming, and you don’t have to wear any shoes, you can wear these wooden bakyas. It was terrific. It was paradise in many ways, because we were free. Because the Filipinos very were very accepting,” she says.

Margot, a cousin of Lotte, had finished a year of college in the Philippines when she had to leave for the United States. She says that her stay in the Philippines molded her into what she is today, as she dedicated her life to helping immigrants, people dealing with trauma, children in need, and homeless women in different countries.

“I think my career choice has very much to do with my experience in the Philippines. It is—it has to do with—giving people a chance… And giving a person his self-worth is what I think one of the most important values we got by the way we were treated (in the Philippines). And so, that was part of what I try to do when I then continued my career,” shares Margot.

Max, who says he learned to speak Tagalog before knowing English, fondly remembers playing on the streets with his friends, and how his family made a living in the Philippines – he helped his mother sell muffins made from old bananas.

“My identity? I grew up with the Filipinos. Pareho naman kami. I ate with them. I worked. I got paid. That’s my life that will never leave me. My heart is still there. Manila will never leave me. My Manila memories,” he shares.

Aside from the Manilaners’ stories, the docu also offers historical insights from Dr. Sharon Delmendo, Dr. Jose Tirol, and Dr. Ricardo Jose, Filipino scholars who are subject-matter experts on the topic, and Lee Blumenthal, executive director of The Jewish Association of the Philippines.

Shot in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Israel, and New York, USA and directed by Nico Hernandez, “The Last Manilaners” dropped on iWant on January 27 to join the rest of the world in commemorating the 75th year of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Watch uplifting stories of courage and compassion in “The Last Manilaners” now streaming on the iWant app (iOs and Android) or iwant.ph for free. For updates, like www.facebook.com/iWant, and follow @iwant on Twitter and @iwantofficial on Instagram, and subscribe to www.youtube.com/iWantPH.

Catch the New Sheryn Regis in Back To Love Concert

2:01:00 PM

Sheryn Regis, the Crystal Voice of Asia, is back to bring a hair-raising song with that distinctive tone and melismatic timbre, a velvety yet tart with an insistent flutter and occasional reserves of soul belting that resonates with such catharsis.

She was strong, emotive, confident, and capable of punctuating any beat with her goose-bump-inducing whispers or full bore diva-roars.

Having heard, Sheryn Regis is one gifted singer, a soprano often acclaimed for her range and technical ability. In 2003 she secured a place as a grand finalist in ABS-CBN's reality singing competition "Star in a Million." After advancing from the elimination rounds. She was dubbed as the "Power Belter," she was the judge's favorite and placed consistently in the top performances every week, eventually reaching the Grand Champion Night on January 3, 2004. She won the Texter's Choice Award but placed only as a Runner-up after singing Wendy Moten's "Come in Out of the Rain," which eventually became her signature song. While she may not have clinched the grand title in the said competition, Sheryn felt like she already has, as she was immediately overwhelmed with numerous TV offers, product commercial endorsements, and concerts in the Philippines and different parts of the world.

To date, she has recorded four solo albums with platinum and gold awards, as well as numerous collaborations with different Filipino artists. She was known as "The Queen of ABS-CBN's 'Teleserye' Theme Songs" and was a member of the "Kapamilya Network's" homegrown talent, Star Magic.

in 2004, Sheryn was chosen by popular songwriter Vehnee A. Saturno to represent the Philippine sin "Voice f Asia" in Kazakhstan where she sang "Isang Lahi," "Sana's 'Di Pangarap," "Now More Than Ever" and Saturno's original song "Follow Your Dreams." for a time, she was part of the now-defunct noontime show "MTB: Ang Saya Saya" and "M.R.S. (Most Requested Show)."

Sheryn had her first concert, "Higher Note," at the Music Museum, followed by several concerts in the Philippines and abroad. However, in 2010, as part of her career move, she and her husband migrated to the United States with their daughter and settled in Houston, Texas, where she continues her colorful signing career, as a concert regular and a theater actress. 10 years later, she is back to Music Museum for her homecoming concert on February 28, 2020, entitled "Back To Love" - Sheryn Regis Live at the Music Museum.

Her recent stints in the last quarter of 2019 and the first quarter of 2020 included being the featured celebrity in ASAP Natin To, I Can See Your Voice, Casino Filipino's La Musikandia Nationwide series of shows, Wish 107.5, Umagang Kay Ganda, ABS-CBN Trade Show, Letters and Music, and Other Radio and TV Guestings. She continues to do solo concert tours around the USA and Canada.

Certainly, this adorable powerhouse of a diva has earned her legions of adoring fans worldwide with her four-octave vocal range, the florid blend of breathy riffing and resonant belting, which easily puts her on top of the country's most gifted artists who have significantly impacted popular and contemporary music.

Catch the new version of Sheryn Regis unfolds on February 28, 2020, at the Music Museum directed by Alco Guerrero.
