Sandiwa Releases Debut Single 'Gunita'

11:02:00 PM

OPM isn't dead, it's just evolving! Well, that's what I thought after attending the Press Conference and Launch Event of the Debut Single of SANDIWA.

SANDIWA, which means iisang diwa is bringing their music to the main stream under Ivory Music and Video and their debut single 'Gunita' is now out to different digital stores and music download platforms. According to them "... Kami ay pinag-isa para sa iisang layunin na ihatid ang tunay na 'Pag-ibig' gamit ang musika. Maghatid ng pag-asa at gawing obra ang mga luha na nagsilbing inspirasyon sa awitin ng ating puso."

This era's music is just evolving and SANDIWA is just one proof that OPM is moving. And also there are other rising bands that would definitely bring you good entertaining music.

SANDIWA'S Gunita, their debut single, comes with heart-wrenching lyrics and smooth rhythms. This song, that is released last March 22, 2019, will have you head-bobbing while reminiscing yesterday's beautiful love. It seems that SANDIWA is in for more sawi or hugot music to listen to. According to them they consider their music genre as cenimatic, that's perhaps due to love aches and hugot themes that is great for movies.

The band is composed of Samuel Mopal, Yeoj Rivera, Jeremiah Torda, Harold Tabuno and Alex Rale, SANDIWA is managed by Ms. Thea Pollisco, under the same umbrella as renowned OPM artist Gloc-9 and newest hiphop hitmaker Shanti Dope.

With that these two great artists are present during the Gunita Single Launch Event of SANDIWA last April 10, 2019, at Historia Boutique and Bar. Special guests include are Mr. Joey Ayala, Ms. Cookie Chua, Room for Cielo and Sons of NOA.

If you want to know more of the band visit Kwento Ni Toto's 5K Challenge for something interesting.

The SOLABROS.COM, New Band, Same Blood, Children of Jerome Abalos

1:56:00 AM

New breed, new band but same blood, these are Jerome Abalos children, the SOLABROS.COM. Brothers who are born and raised in the urban neighborhood of Mandaluyong City, Philippines. In case you forgot who Jerome Abalos is, he is just one of the many multi-talented and multi-awarded musician in the country and he is well known for the monster hit song "Larawang Kupas".  And for those who favors the thrash metal sound, he is the co-founder and frontman of the band "Death By Stereo" and the progressive rock band "Majesty."

Jerome Abalos released 3 solo albums and 2 studio albums with his band. Death by Stereo’s self titled debut album was certified gold record while his solo self-titled debut album featuring the monster hit song, LARAWANG KUPAS, was a certified platinum.

Nurtured by music from the moment they were conceived, Sean, Zack, and Shane grew up with the melodic sound of the keyboards, the ripping sound of heavy metal guitar solos, and the thunder-like beat of drums and percussions. Raised and mentored by a multi-talented, multi genre musical artist of a father and fueled by their mutual interest in rock and roll, heavy metal, progressive rock, and alternative rock,Solabros.com can be considered as one of the rising stars in the Philippines, be it local or in international music scene.

The band was formed in 2015 by singer, songwriter, and keyboard player Sean Abalos and his younger brother, lead guitarist and singer Zachary Jeymz. From the moment Sean and Zack held their instruments and started playing, it was clear that they had a future in the local and international music scene. The band was soon joined by the band’s drummer Shane Steven, the youngest of the Abalos brothers, who gave the band his powerful Lars Ulrich-like drumming style. “Initially, we just wanted to be a band,” recalled Sean. “But when Shane officially joined us and started making all those power beats and double basses, our paradigm shifted and our aspiration changed overnight. We now wanted, not just to be any band, we now wanted to be among the best bands locally and overseas.”

Though with different personalities, Sean, Zack, and Shane’s talents blended and clicked. In 2016, Solabros.com joined their first “Battle of the Bands,” their first public appearance. Since then, the trio had regular gigs in several bars in Manila and Luzon.
Sean Francis Abalos (vocals, keyboards) He is currently finishing his bachelor’s degree at Jose Rizal University in Mandaluyong City. After harnessing his God-given singing talent, Sean was trained on keyboards and has been loving his new skill ever since.
Shane Steven Abalos (drums, vocals) the youngest of the Abalos brothers. At 14 years old, Shane is currently a freshman in high school. With his passion for drums and percussion, Shane was initially trained to play the drums by his father. Shane focused with his training and has dramatically improved his drums and vocals skills. At only 14 years old and only a year of playing, Shane can now be considered a drummer par excellence.
Zachary Jeymz Abalos (guitars, vocals) He was exposed to musical at a very young age. He is a currently in junior high school. With the encouragement of his dad, Zack trained himself to play the guitar, starting with acoustic, he leveled up almost overnight and has since mastered the electric guitar. At only 16 years old, and only a year of playing, Zack has become a guitar phenom. His skills were way beyond his years.

More About Geca Morales, House-School to Medalist of World Championship of Performing Arts.

2:21:00 AM

We already did a write up and story about this young and rising artist. You can check out that story here "Geca Morales" or Maria Angelica T. Morales.   The story is about the debut of her single and of course about her achievement last year at the World Championships of Performing Arts where she just won Gold Medal for the Female Vocal Rap Category and Silver Medal for the Rock Category. Now isn't that some talent to watch out for!

Just this weekend I was able to have an online interview with her. I wanted to have our conversation recorded of which I was able to but unfortunately the audio didn't work out well. So I might be able to upload the video but it doesn't have any audio in it.

So we did the chat and video at the same time. Oh before I go on with our conversation I must say first that it was lovely talking with her on video chat. She accommodated my request to interview her and what else... she really is beautiful. I must say she really pretty on cam.

Okay now we head on to that interview. I prepared just a few questions because of the limited time.

  • How long have you been singing?
Well according to her she was already singing when she was still young, perhaps most of us have gone through that stage, that is according to her mom. When she was in elementary she was able to sing in one of the school activity and when she finished singing her classmates were whispering and laughing. According to her the teacher to her classmates about that incident but that particular event made her stop singing. Perhaps it was a trauma.
She sung again when she was enrolled at Center for Pop Music and that was when she was in college already.  Then the competition at the World Championships of Performing Arts and up to now.

  •  Who taught you how to sing?
According to her no one did teach her how to sing not until she begun formal training the Center for Pop.

  • Any relatives who's into singing or perhaps celebrity?
She doesn't know of but according to her mom there was this great great grand father who was a celebrity. That's all that she know of.
  •  What and where was the first competition you've joined?
The one that she mentioned when she was in elementary. There was also one that where it was recorded and she won. And the recently was in the World Championships of Performing Arts. According to her the first and the recent one are both live while the 2nd was only a recording.
  • Who are your influences in singing?
She mentioned three (3) names that influenced her singing, one is Carmen Duo (from youtube but not really sure if  I had it correct), the second was Beyonce and the last was Nicki Minaj.
  • Since you won the World Championships of Performing Arts Gold Medal in the Female Vocal Rap Category and Silver Medal for the Female Vocal Rock Category, which of the two would you like to pursue more, rap or rock?
Her answer was that she wanted both and she thinks she can merge these two (2) genres. Though she wants to, still rap is what loves. According to her she also does composing rap songs. Not the whole song but just some few lines. She wanted more to be inclined in the rap genre because according to her there were few female rap artists.

  • What are you going to do this summer?
Well, she answered that she'll be doing mall shows this summer. She'll be doing more shows on the provincial side where she could reach more of her fans.

So, that's how our interview goes and what I like is that she's still game with our interview even though we're having technical problems with our internet connection.

O by the way she'll be having the launch of her first music video "Oo, Ikaw" under MCA.

Here's what you'll expecting of her

She'll be Guesting at Tee Radio this coming March 29 at 10;00AM and at the same time is the official launch of her music video on youtube.

She'll be at WISH on March 31 at 7:00PM and lastly watch her mall show at Harbor Point Subic on April 2, 2017 at 2:00PM.
