Selos by Shaira, Understanding Its Virality

8:47:00 PM

Sometimes it takes just the right blend of emotion, melody, and relatability to ignite a global phenomenon. Such is the case with Shaira's cover of "Selos," originally penned by Lenka as "Trouble is a Friend." Despite being a cover, Shaira's rendition has captured hearts and sparked a wildfire of attention, transcending borders and languages.

The magic of "Selos" lies not just in its catchy beat, but in its ability to resonate deeply with listeners, both locally and internationally. Shaira's subtle infusion of her own style breathes new life into the song, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in its story, regardless of whether they understand the lyrics.

Thoughts Behind the Sensation

1. Emotional Resonance: One of the key reasons "Selos" has struck a chord with audiences worldwide is its universal theme of jealousy and unrequited love. The song delves into the raw emotions of longing and heartache, tapping into experiences that many can relate to on a personal level.

2. Catchy and Accessible Lyrics: The simplicity of the lyrics makes "Selos" easily accessible to a wide audience. With straightforward verses and a memorable chorus, listeners find themselves effortlessly singing along, even if they don't comprehend the Filipino language.

3. Personal Connection: Shaira's heartfelt delivery adds a layer of authenticity to the song, making listeners feel as though they are experiencing the emotions firsthand. Whether it's the pang of jealousy or the ache of unreciprocated affection, "Selos" captures the essence of human vulnerability.

4. Musical Arrangement: Despite the melancholic undertones of the lyrics, the upbeat musical arrangement injects a sense of energy and optimism into the song. This juxtaposition of emotions creates a compelling listening experience that resonates long after the music fades.

5. Cultural Impact: In addition to its musical appeal, "Selos" has become a cultural phenomenon, sparking conversations and spawning countless covers and adaptations across various platforms. Its widespread popularity serves as a testament to the song's ability to transcend cultural barriers and touch the hearts of people around the world.

Insightful Lyrics and Impactful Lines

"Sa twing nakikita kong magkasama na kayo Naiinis ako’t nasisira ang araw ko"

These opening lines immediately draw listeners into the narrative, painting a vivid picture of the singer's inner turmoil as she witnesses her love interest with someone else.

"Kahit di namn tayong dalawa Ay lagi na Lang pinagseselosan siya Bakit ba siya at Bakit di na Lang ako?"

This refrain encapsulates the core theme of the song—feelings of jealousy and longing for someone who is seemingly out of reach. It's a sentiment that many can empathize with, adding to the song's universal appeal.

Personal Touch

As an avid listener and music enthusiast, experiencing the rise of "Selos" has been nothing short of captivating. It's remarkable how a song, through its melody and lyrics, can evoke such powerful emotions and transcend linguistic barriers.

Shaira's rendition of "Selos" not only pays homage to the original but also breathes new life into the song, captivating audiences with its infectious energy and heartfelt delivery. It's a testament to the transformative power of music, reminding us of the beauty and universality of human emotions.

In all, "Selos" by Shaira stands as a testament to the enduring power of music to touch hearts, spark conversations, and unite people from all walks of life. LG OLED Evo TVs Achieve Eco-Friendly Certification for Fourth Year in a Row

5:51:00 PM

LG Electronics (LG) is once again in the spotlight for its unwavering dedication to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. The latest LG 2024 OLED evo TVs have been recognized with Reducing CO2 and Measured CO2 certifications from the Carbon Trust and Environmentally Evaluated Mark from Société Générale de Surveillance SA (SGS), marking the fourth consecutive year of recognition for LG's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. Additionally, LG’s newest OLED TVs have earned their second successive Recycled Content certification, underscoring the company's commitment to environmental responsibility.

The Carbon Trust, an organization working towards a future of zero carbon emissions, evaluates the environmental impact of products throughout their entire life cycle. SGS certification focuses on resource efficiency and the presence of hazardous substances, while Intertek measures the percentage of recycled materials used. These certifications emphasize responsible consumption practices across industries and contribute to global sustainability efforts.

One notable aspect of LG OLED TVs is their self-lit nature, which stands out in sustainability evaluations. Unlike LCD TVs, LG OLED TVs do not require a backlight, leading to a simpler structure and fewer components. For example, LG’s 65-inch OLED evo, constructed with ultra-light composite fiber, uses only 40 percent of the plastic typically found in an LCD TV of the same size and weighs 20 percent less.

Considering the expected sales of LG OLED TVs this year, the total plastic usage from 2022 to 2024 is projected to be 45,000 tons lower than that of LCD TVs sold during the same period. This reduction will result in a decrease in carbon emissions of approximately 234,000 tons annually, equivalent to the carbon dioxide absorbed by a 30-year-old pine forest. To put it in perspective, this reduction is about one-third of the area of Seoul or roughly 31,000 soccer fields.

Approximately 20% of the plastic used in manufacturing all LG TVs, including OLED TVs, consists of recycled plastics, amounting to around 4,000 tons of recycled waste plastic annually.

In addition to its environmental endeavors, LG has received accolades from both domestic and international organizations for its ESG initiatives. In 2023, LG was listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the twelfth consecutive year, ranking in the top ten percent of the largest 2,500 global companies based on long-term economic, environmental, social, and governance practices. Notably, LG is the sole South Korean company in the Leisure Equipment & Products and Consumer Electronics industry category to achieve this recognition.

Furthermore, LG has consistently received the highest 'Comprehensive A grade' from the ESG Evaluation and Rating Announcement of Korea ESG Standards Institute (KCGS) for three years, and it earned its fourth consecutive 'A' rating from the Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) ESG Rating last year.

Baik Seon-pill, leader of LG Home Entertainment Company’s Product Planning Division, emphasized, “LG OLED TVs not only lead the market as the ultimate choice for premium viewing experiences but also set the bar for ESG standards. LG remains dedicated to ongoing efforts to create a better planet for all.”

From North To South, Timezone Brings the Fun to SM Southmall and SM North The Block

9:28:00 AM

From North to South, there's always a place for you to enjoy, relax, unwind, and have fun. For me, as a Gen X who have witnessed and enjoyed the fun in arcades, it has always been my sanctuary. A place where I'm happy at!

For arcade goers in the North and the South, will definitely find their inner kid, as Timezone Philippines continues its legacy of fun and excitement with the opening of its latest venues at SM Southmall in Las Piñas and at The Block in SM North EDSA, Quezon City. For nearly three decades since 1998, Filipinos have associated Timezone with fun activities, exciting rides, and innovative entertainment experiences. This still rings true for many people who have grown up playing at Timezone and have enjoyed great times with family and friends in its numerous venues.

Indeed, the fun never stops as Timezone Philippines opened two more venues, providing denizens of the southern suburbs and residents of the northern urban scene a place to play, party, and relax to their hearts' content.

Got the opportunity to visit Timezone in SM Southmall and experience what they offer during their grand opening.  This is Timezone Philippines’ sixth venue with SM Supermalls. Timezone in SM Southmall, is in a prime position on the third floor of the mall, within close proximity to the cinemas and the Cyberzone for digital gadgets. At Timezone SM Southmall, guests can indulge in a 1,195 square meter playground filled with over 100 games spanning various genres. From the thrilling racing attraction Asphalt 9DX to VR Sailor Quest, there’s something for everyone. As for me, I love the games where I collect tickets for future prizes that I can redeem. Additionally, there is Social Bowling, Slam ‘N’ Jam Ultra, and the iconic Spinzone bumper car attraction, offering a diverse range of entertainment options. The venue also has a spacious party room for hosting gatherings of up to 50 participants. Don’t forget to visit the prize shop, where guests can trade their tickets in for different toys and other fun items! On March 22 until April 5, guests can purchase P500 and receive P1000 Powerload by using the code SOUTHM exclusively on the Timezone Fun App.

Meanwhile, guests on the northern end of the metropolis have a new entertainment option with the opening of Timezone’s seventh SM Supermalls venue - Timezone SM North EDSA The Block, which welcomed guests through its doors in December of last year.

Spanning approximately 900 square meters, Timezone SM North EDSA features popular games and unique attractions like Panther Revolution Photobooth system and NBA Hoops.

With venues across the metro, including SM Aura, SM Mall of Asia, and SM Megamall, as well as a provincial location at SM Rosales in Pangasinan, Timezone continues to be the go-to destination for fun and games. Stay tuned for more exciting developments as the fun never stops with Timezone!
