In its eighth year of operation, COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises, a prominent communications group known for its global accolades, is reaffirming its dominance by appointing new Managing Directors for its ventures in COMCO Southeast Asia and the Middle East & Africa regions. Reinforcing Leadership
A seasoned PR practitioner, COMCO SEA’s newest Managing Director Joyce Yu has close to two decades of solid experience in Public Relations, Advertising, Events and Activation, and Branding and Brand Communications. The partnership came to fruition after realizing that Al James’ style of laid-back rapping somehow fits the demo that Brian and Josh have been working on for months. Josh admits that he mustered the courage to ask the viral hitmaker to be part of the track despite the short notice. Luckily, Al James said yes and sent his verse a few days ahead of the deadline.

When asked about how Al James is as a collaborator, he said nothing but praise for the Pa-umaga act.

“He’s very chill. He submitted the reworked track ahead of time and recorded his parts in less than an hour. I really admire his level of professionalism. After that, we just bonded instantly and went on a food trip.”

Ginny Guanco's 'Her World': Exploring Women's Mysteries

Artist Ginny Guanco unveils her latest exhibition, "Her World," showcasing a stunning portrayal of feminine strength and beauty through vibrant colors and bold strokes. The exhibition, her third solo show, captures the essence of womanhood with captivating allure.

Guanco's artistic journey began at the young age of 8, driven by a fascination with the female form. Her early sketches of women in fashionable attire laid the groundwork for her formal education in Fine Arts at the University of Sto. Tomas. Additional studies in the United States expanded her repertoire, while mentorship under Salvacion Lim Higgins, renowned designer and co-founder of Slim’s Fashion & Art School, refined her skills.



Despite years of dabbling in art while pursuing careers in media and PR, it wasn't until 2016 that Guanco fully embraced her passion as an artist. Transitioning from her PR career, she embarked on a personal journey, leading to her inaugural solo exhibition, "Boho Chic," a fusion of fashion illustration and human anatomy. This was followed by her second exhibit, "Festival," created in response to the emotional weight of the pandemic.

In 2024, Guanco makes a triumphant return with "Her World," a collection described as "aggressive and bolder." Comprising 26 paintings, the exhibition marks her liberation from creative constraints. "Here, I’m no longer held back and afraid to go out of the box," Guanco expresses, reflecting on her artistic evolution.




One can still see the distinct touch and personaty of Guanco through her works - bright, joyful colors, intricate designs, and thoughtful details. All these signature elements persist in her experimental use of oil pastel. watercolor, acrylic, brush pens and Sharpie pens. However, one can more deeply appreciate the evolution of her style, which now boasts a newfound confidence, freedom, and power – certainly the rewards of her courageous introspection over the years.

“In her day-to-day life, a woman wears many hats – a mother, a homemaker, a housewife, an executive, a creative, etc. But despite all these labels, she is not defined by them. She is more than all these roles. Women have greater depth and mystery, which I find truly fascinating,” Ginny shares.


  

Her World will be unveiled at Gateway Gallery Studio in Araneta City on March 16, 2024, coinciding with Women’s month. “Women empowerment has always been a recurring theme in my exhibits. When you express power, people often confuse this with being dominant and domineering. However, women are able to convey this power, while also retaining their femininity and inner strength. She knows what she wants and she knows what she’s capable of doing,” says Ginny.

TRENDSCENDED! A Seminar on Maximizing Digital Trends Had a Leap Towards Success

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) celebrated the success of the 20th AdCongress titled "ADPORTAL: Traversing Through the Maze of ADPR Innovation," where fourth-year students from the Bachelor of Advertising and Public Relations (BAPR) program shared their insights. The AdCongress, an annual event, serves as a platform for students, faculty, and industry professionals to come together, exchange ideas, and explore the latest trends in advertising and public relations.

On February 15, 2024, BAPR 4-2D (Yugtwo) kicked off the event themed 𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗗: 𝗔 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘅𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀, held at the PUP Claro M. Recto Hall. The event provided a platform for attendees from various universities, including Curtin University Malaysia, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, University of Caloocan City, University of Santo Tomas, Adamson University, Arellano University – Pasig, Lyceum of the Philippines University, and University of the Philippines – Open University, to gain valuable insights from industry experts on adapting and utilizing digital trends effectively.

The participants, mostly pursuing degrees in Bachelor in Advertising and Public Relations or BSBA in Marketing Management, seized the opportunity to connect with professionals and learn about the latest developments in the field. The event served as a catalyst for knowledge exchange and networking among aspiring practitioners in the advertising and public relations industry.


 
The seminar featured a lineup of highly esteemed Trend Experts, Ms. Julie Dupaya, a Senior Social Media Manager of Propel Manila, and Ms. Patrice Advincula, a Digital Media Campaign Manager and Customer Support Senior Associate of Google Operations Center Philippines. Students also had a chance to hear from the special guest, Mr. Biboy Royong, the Executive Creative Director of Dentsu Creative Philippines. Mr. Royong inspires the students to maximize the combination of art and advocacy to create an impactful campaign on his segment ‘TRASH TALK: Calling out Plastics' Toxic Traits’. He advised students to understand their target market, deliver a clear and relatable message, and inspire to enhance the effectiveness of their campaign. Ms. Dupaya in her talk ‘Exploring the Advertising & PR Digital Trends’, guided the students on how to spot digital trends. They are also encouraged to always be open not just to digital trends but also to the insights that they can get from everyday discussions with people around them. Ms. Advincula, with her topic ‘Adapting the Digital Trends in the World of Advertising and PR’, helped the attendees to understand change is guaranteed in the ADPR industry and that digital trends are part of it. She also shared the pros and cons of using digital trends and the steps to utilize them to achieve brand success, emphasizing the advantage of gathering analytic data. During the seminar, attendees not only learned in discussions but also enjoyed the games such as the Guess that Trend Game which came with amazing prizes. They were also thrilled to be serenaded by Mcjeam Ariexs, a singer-songwriter who garnered more than 100,000 streams worldwide on Spotify.
