SILONG Released On Mainstream Cinemas

If you have seen the movies shown in Cinemalaya XI last August then the movie “Silong” isn’t new to you anymore but because you loved the film very much you’ll probably going to watch it again on cinemas. Yes, it’s a big screen mainstream for “Silong”, an independent film produced by SQ Film Laboratories and Black Maria Pictures released by Star Cinema. We’ve all known that there are great movies in Cinemalaya that are just waiting to be noticed and placed on its rightful places in the movie entertainment industry.


The movie “Silong” is starred by Piolo Pascual and Rhian Ramos together with Guji Lorenzana, Angel Jacob and Raymund Concepcion. It is directed by Jeffrey Hidalgo and Roy Sevilla-Ho and the story is developed and script written by Roy Sevilla Ho.

The film is about the character named Miguel Castro which is played by Piolo Pascual, he is a doctor mourning the death of his wife and at the same time saving his family’s home from creditors. On his way home one day, he finds a badly beaten and bloody Valerie (the character played by Rhian Ramos) on a deserted country road. He takes her home to nurse her back to health. The story goes and that’s where things unraveled.

“Silong” as brought to the big-screen marks the very first collaboration work of Piolo Pascual and Rhian Ramos coming both from different networks. Piolo is one of ABS-CBN’s biggest stars and should be noted that this movie is the next film he starred after the blockbuster hit “The Breakup Playlist”. Rhian on the other had is one of the young talented actresses of her generation.

Piolo and Rhian shown some few skins in this movie and according to Director Roy Sevilla Ho it is expected to see Piolo’s butt which is an iconic representation (Director Sevilla laughs). But anyway fans will definitely giggle to see this movie as this is a departure from Piolo’s romantic drama genre and this is Rhian’s first full-length movie since 2012.


“Silong” is showing in cinemas nationwide starting September 16.
