Puerto Princesa: Beyond Beauty, into Athletic Excitement

8:45:00 PM

Puerto Princesa City, situated in the renowned Last Frontier of the Philippines, is topping the charts as a preferred destination for travelers, adventure enthusiasts, and nature lovers. The city's growing popularity is further boosted by hosting numerous sports tournaments, establishing itself as the recognized "Sports Capital of the Philippines."

Relentless. Exceptional. Indomitable. That's the spirit of Puerto Princesa, showcasing top-notch sports events including marine activities such as kite-boarding, wakeboarding, water skiing, banana-boat rides, tube riding, and hookah diving. The city is also a consistent host of the "Motocross Masters of Asia," featuring the Philippine leg of the FIM UAM Asian Motocross Series, Puerto Princesa International Motocross Grand Prix, Thai Riders, Pinoy Riders, Mountain Bike XC Challenge, and Boxing Eve "Hamon sa Puerto Princesa."

Puerto Princesa understands that sports and tourism are interrelated and complementary driving forces for the promotion and sustainable economic development of the city as an attractive tourism destination. It continues to boost its tourist arrivals by hosting and organizing more sporting events.

Gathering strength, determination, and a sea of endurance: Participants unite for the Ironman 70.3 Puerto Princesa 2023, capturing the essence of the long-distance triathlon journey in a single frame.

The city is blessed with natural resources and landscape to hold excellent mass-participation events such as triathlons and marathons, mountain bike and motor cross races, beach volleyball, and other water sports competitions.

“Talagang naka-project na ang Puerto Princesa sa sports tourism. Syempre yung hinahabol nating sports tourism yung mayroong international flavor,” City Mayor Lucilo Rodriguez Bayron said. Mega sports events such as Ironman and dragon boat festival can be catalysts for tourism development in Puerto Princesa if successfully leveraged in terms of destination branding, infrastructure development and other economic, cultural, and social benefits.

IRONMAN 70.3 PUERTO PRINCESA-ASIA TRI-CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

The second year of the IRONMAN 70.3 Puerto Princesa - Asia Tri-Club Championship, the ultimate test of endurance, strategy, and strength, capped off the Philippines' triathlon season. It was successfully held in Puerto Princesa on November 12.

A total of 523 foreign and Filipino triathletes from 38 countries participated in the amazing race. Satar Salem (4 hours, 22 minutes, and 25 seconds) and Leyann Ramo (5 hours, 2 minutes, and 56 seconds) both of Tri SND Barracuda dominated the top overall age group for the male and female categories, respectively.

China’s Junyu Cao finished the race in second place at 4:23.13 while Dutch Olympian Eric Van der Linden rounded off the top three finishers in the male category with 4:24.41. Ramo’s teammate Lyllian Grace Banzon trailed her at second place in 5:29.23 while American Catherine Wood completed the top three in the women’s side with the time of 5:36.26.

Tri SND Barracuda of Lanao del Norte netted the country’s top triathlon squad a whopping P500,000 purse put up by Puerto Princesa Mayor Lucilo Bayron.

The competition was divided into three segments: a 1.9-kilometer swim in Puerto Princesa Baywalk, a 90-kilometer bike ride through the city’s southern part, and a 21.1-kilometer run. The grueling course covered 113.0 kilometers, or 70.3 miles.

City Mayor Lucilo Rodriguez Bayron expressed his gratitude to the organizers, participants, and spectators for their support for Ironman 70.3. He also showed confidence that the competition will be successfully held again in the city next year as more local and foreign delegates are expected to attend.

THIRD LEGENDS RIDE 2023

The city understands that one of the most popular ways to experience a destination is through a sports event. It allows sports enthusiasts as well as tourists to better engage with local people, nature, and culture.

That happened when about 200 local and visiting riders participated in the 3rd Legends Ride 2023 held on November 18 in Puerto Princesa. The sports activity is part of the successful Subaraw Biodiversity Festival 2023.

From the starting point at Caltex Junction 3, the riders of different groups from all over the country, led by the Tamilok Motorcycle Group, marched together. The other participants were the Big Bikes, Palawan Street Monkeys, Himass Motorcycle Group/Hijos, United Sports Bike of Palawan (USP) and others on small bikes.

The route took the legend riders to Puerto Princesa landmarks such as the Montible Junction, Napsan at the Villa Francesca Resort in Simpocan, the Tala Beach Resort and straight to the Tennis Covered Court of the Ramon V. Mitra Sports Complex, inside Balayong People’s Park.

“Thank you very much for bringing the Legends Ride to our city. Because you enjoyed it, you will definitely come back here. You are always welcome here in Puerto Princesa City,” said City Mayor Bayron at the fellowship dinner at the Tennis Covered Court as he congratulated the organizers, riders, guests, and sponsors for the successful holding of the Legends Ride 2023.

Jun Diagono, president of the National Federation of Motorcycles said they are very happy with the success of Legends Ride 2023. He set two goals in going to Puerto Princesa City: first was to unite all the big bikes clubs in the Philippines; and second, to invite various groups to the National Motorcycle Convention on April 26-27, 2024, at the Subic Bay Convention Center.

Diagono also convinced Puerto Princesa City bike legend Edward Butch Chase to hold the national convention in the city next year. He also promised to bring LMFI’s 54-member bike clubs to participate in the upcoming event, including the Federation of Bikes Club based in Mindanao.

At the awarding, the youngest rider was Blu Andre Rausa, 19 years old; and the oldest rider was Bob Del Rosario, 74 years old. The Most Organized Group is Evo Riders Club Philippines and Biggest Group is Palawan Street Monkeys. A Special Citation was given to Philip Dulatas as the overall chair of the event, and a Certificate of Greatest Appreciation for the support of William Genato, Naj Abdul, and Elroy John “Clink: Hagedorn. The Living legend award was given to Edward Butch Chase.

The other participating groups were the Legends Ride are Binuang, GBC, Bandits, Baghawi Rider Club, Bundakan Motorcycle Club and Widows Son Masonic Riders Association. 2ND INTERNATIONAL DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL 2023

The 2nd International Dragon Boat Festival 2023, held on November 19, attracted teams from Chinese Taipei, Manila, Cebu and Siargao which competed in the just-concluded 200-meter event. From this series of international activities, it has been proven that it is possible to raise the level of programs and activities in Puerto Princesa.

Strength, strategy, paddling speed, and teamwork were the advantages of the 'paddlers' who won the championship in the final competition. They showed the audience a breath-taking fight. Everyone wants to get away and no one wants to be left behind. So even on a sunny day, the applause and screams from the audience were loud and clear.

In the Women’s Category, the Alliance of Masters from Manila won the championship; 1st runner-up is the Philippine Titans – Manila; Fire Dragons A is 2nd runner-up – Manila; and Rampage is 3rd runner-up – Manila.

In the Men’s Category, Mr. Canoe from Chinese Taipei won the championship. Followed by Philippine Titans in second place, Dagun Pilipinas A in third place and Alliance of Masters in fourth place. The battle in the Mixed Category was also uneventful where the Siargao Dragons from Surigao del Norte proved that they deserve to be champions. The Alliance of Masters placed second; Hongkong China Canoe took third place followed by SAG-1 from Manila in fourth place.

In the Masters Category where those aged 40 and above were given the opportunity to show their skills, the Sugbo Mighty Dragons from Cebu became champions; followed in second place by the Alliance of Masters; Rampage in third place; and Blue Phoenix from Manila in fourth place.

Praise and admiration were showered on the leadership of the Philippine Canoe Kayak Dragon Boat Federation, or PCKDF, for taking the lead in organizing the international sports event in the city. Also heavily praised were the efforts shown by Mayor Lucilo Rodriguez Bayron in the tremendous success achieved by the municipal government for the competition.

“It was not easy but we know that we can win these big international events of ours. Of course with the support of department heads, city hall employees and the citizens who are there to support what we do. And even the organizations that trust us for big events. I am very grateful,” said City Mayor Bayron. “Please also expect that there are many more activities to look forward to that will definitely make the city recognized by the whole world not only for its eco-tourism wealth but also to become famous as the Sports Tourism Capital of the Philippines!”

FIVE TITLE CONTENDERS TO WATCH OUT FOR IN THE UPCOMING FIFA WORLD CUP 2022 QATAR

10:58:00 PM

This is going to be one action sports to watch. For all sports enthusiasts out there the World Cup fever is upon us, and SKY is bringing all the action from the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar live on SKY Pay-Per-View via WCTV.

With 32 nations worldwide vying for the coveted cup trophy, only one will prevail and take all the glory to their motherland.

Before jumping into the exciting action and drama on the pitch, here are some of the teams that can win it all and to watch out for in the latest edition of the World Cup:

1) The defending champions France

Undoubtedly, France re-enters the World Cup scene as one of the favorites to win it all and go for a rare back-to-back feat in the quadrennial tournament, headlined by 2022 Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema and next-generation superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The challenge now for France in their hopes for the title is the slew of injuries to their core players, heading in without the key players instrumental to their previous championship run, including N'Golo Kante, Paul Pogba, and Presnel Kimpembe.

2) The stacked Brazilian squad

Never count out the winningest nation in World Cup history, Brazil. Now hungrier than ever, their squad features an array of world-class players currently in tip-top form.

Arguably one of the best line-ups they've showcased in the grandest stage of the sport, the team comprises all-star names, from vicious attackers up front in Neymar Jr., Vinicius Jr., Richarlison, and Gabriel Jesus; seasoned veterans Thiago Silva, Casemiro, Allison Becker, and Dani Alves; to promising talents Rodrygo and Gabriel Martinelli.

3) South America winners, Argentina

Argentina, the two-time World Cup-winning nation, continues to be favored to make a deep run in the competition—especially coming in as the Copa America champions and previously beating Euro 2020 victors Italy in their Finalissima match-up.

Still led by one of the greatest to ever grace the sport, Lionel Messi, he has his sights fixed anew on the elusive World Cup to add to his stacked trophy cabinet throughout his illustrious career. Helping him along the way to capture the gold are Angel Di Maria, Lisandro Martinez, Emi Martinez, Paulo Dybala, and Lautaro Martinez.

4) 2018 runners-up Croatia

From doubters to believers, many fans are still astounded by Croatia's historic run in the 2018 World Cup, with odds stacked against their favor to win the coveted gold. But with Luka Modric's string of world-class performances, which won him the tournament's best player distinction and the 2018 Ballon d'Or, Croatia managed to book a ticket to their first-ever finals appearance. Although they ended up short against France, they won the hearts of football fans worldwide for their heroics on the grand stage.

They may enter as one of the tournament's eyed underdogs this year, but the spirits are high for Croatia, headlined by Modric, Ivan Perisic, Mateo Kovacic, Marcelo Brozovic, and co., as they continue to convince the world of their capabilities as a unit.

5) World's number two Belgium

With more nations also favored to win the cup, including England, Germany, Netherlands, and Spain, another European heavyweight stands out as a top title contender—the second-world-ranked Belgium squad.

Despite their high FIFA ranking, the concern for the Belgians as of late is their inconsistent form, previously losing two-consecutive times against a resilient Dutch squad during the international break. But with their world-class depth, led by their midfield maestro Kevin de Bruyne with goal-seekers Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku, plus Europe's top goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, they may turn the odds to win it all.

Which of these squads can make a run for the gold? It's up to the world to find out, as SKYcable subscribers can catch all the action in the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 via WCTV, available on SKY Pay-Per-View.

Watch all the games live, plus more special content from November 20 to December 19, with its All Access Pass priced at P1,999. To avail, visit mysky.com.ph/worldcup.

8 Changes in Sports Broadcasting Created by ABS-CBN Sports

10:16:00 AM

We all have been moved and expected every show of the collegiate, from the start to the end. Philippine sports broacasting wouldn't be as same as before. The legacy of ABS-CBN Sports goes beyond delivering the action from multiple leagues such as UAAP, NCAA, MPBL, ABL, BVR, ONE Championship, and PVL to a wide audience. Just like its parent company ABS-CBN, it had the ability to innovate and capture the stories of athletes to create content that resonate with millions of viewers – not just die-hard sports fans – and give them a greater appreciation for sports in general.

Here are eight times that ABS-CBN Sports changed the game in sports broadcasting:

1. ABS-CBN Sports provided multiple platforms for athletes to showcase their talents and passion for the game

Through the many platforms of ABS-CBN Sports, promising Filipino athletes were able to display their talents to millions of people around the world. Games were broadcast in the Philippines on free TV on S+A, cable TV via LIGA, and overseas via TFC. Apart from posting highlights, ABS-CBN Sports would also stream sports events on its social media platforms and website, alongside the ABS-CBN streaming service iWant. Volleyball players such as Grethcel Soltones, Dennise Lazaro, Charo Soriano and the sports communities of Colegio de San Juan de Letran and the UP Fighting Maroons Club are grateful that ABS-CBN Sports shared their stories and gave them a stage to play their game.

2. ABS-CBN Sports was a storyteller for athletes

ABS-CBN Sports was able to highlight the journey, struggles, and eventual triumphs of Filipino athletes with different personalities and backgrounds. Viewers witnessed the rise of Alyssa Valdez in the “Flight of the UAAP Phenom” documentary, and see how UAAP stars Ange Kouame, Ricci Rivero, and Rhenz Abando left their comfort zones to pursue their basketball dreams in “Dayories,” an iWant original. Fans also got to know more about the athletes through halftime features or interviews in shows like “Upfront,” “University Town,” and “The Score.” The latter even spawned segments that eventually became stand-alone programs such as “Extra Rice with Beau Belga” and “Kalye Confessions with Cherry Nunag.” Despite a pandemic, ABS-CBN Sports continued to deliver with new offerings like “Homework with Mico Halili” and “TBH” hosted by collegiate stars Ponggay Gaston, Mich Cobb, Eya Laure, and Rosie Rosier that showed the other side of the athletes. Their off-court personalities also shone in exclusive social media content such as the “Superlatives” game, “SIBS: Day in the life” with athlete-siblings Juan and Javi Gomez De Liano, Shaun and Dave Ildefonso, and Jayvee and Jaycee Marcelino, and vlogs by courtside reporters.

3. ABS-CBN Sports allowed athletes to pursue their love for the game even after their collegiate playing years

Athletes were able to continue sharing their love for the game in ways other than playing the sport as they were welcomed by ABS-CBN Sports as anchors, hosts, or analysts. Volleyball players such as Alyssa Valdez, Gretchen Ho, Michele Gumabao, and Cherry Nunag were given the opportunity to talk to fellow athletes but this time as hosts of their own shows. Former UAAP basketball stars in Jett Manuel, Bea Daez-Fabros, and Danica Jose and volleyball athletes Charo Soriano, Dzi Gervacio, Nicole Tiamzon, and AJ Pareja continued to share their knowledge of the game as analysts of “The Score” and basketball and volleyball leagues. Former NCAA player and PBA veteran Beau Belga is also thankful that ABS-CBN trusted him to be the host of “Extra Rice” as he posted on social media “ABS-CBN opened a new chapter in my career… #KapamilyaForever.”

4. ABS-CBN Sports’ courtside reporter program opened up opportunities for aspiring media practitioners

The courtside reporter program of ABS-CBN Sports allowed first-hand experience for aspiring media practitioners and also gave them the opportunity to work with and learn from top sports anchors led by Mico Halili, Boom Gonzalez, and Anton Roxas. The likes of Nikko Ramos, Riki Flores, Gretchen Fullido, Tina Marasigan, Denice Dinsay, Laura Lehman, Apple David, and Ganiel Krishnan all started out as UAAP courtside reporters and ended up pursuing a career in news, events, radio, or sports. Ganiel and Apple were among those who shared messages of support and gratitude for ABS-CBN Sports by posting on social media “Thank you ABS-CBN Sports. TV Patrol reporter po ako dahil sa inyo” and “ABS-CBN Sports opened the door of opportunity for me. It’s where I started, a huge reason why I am where I am today.”

5. ABS-CBN Sports’ digital shift kept sports fans engaged online, even during the pandemic.

ABS-CBN Sports’ expansion to digital allowed sports fans to not just be constantly updated about their idols and the games but also bond and interact with other sports fans on social media. Through posts like highlight videos, exclusive features, and cool artworks, it has amassed over a million followers each on Facebook and Twitter and over 230k followers on Instagram, building an online community that celebrated sports culture in the Philippines.
With i
ts massive social media presence, ABS-CBN Sports continued to inspire and entertain fans during the COVID-19 pandemic with new “SRSLY” episodes with Shaun Ildefonso that generated eight million views on Facebook since its launch last March, “Gamesplained” videos by athlete-analysts, and the first-ever stay-at-home dunk contest called “Home Jam: Dunkers Only,” which drew over 500k views online and generated over 1M impressions and 1M reach on Facebook. Who can also forget the virtual closing ceremony of UAAP Season 82? ABS-CBN Sports certainly did not let the quarantine stop it from engaging Kapamilya sports fans as it even gained a bigger following in the period of March until May 2020. It also led in the social media engagement category for Philippine sports media across all its digital platforms with a total of 105 million views on Facebook and Instagram, while earning 12k mentions on Twitter.

6. ABS-CBN Sports promoted sports development and values formation through basketball and volleyball clinics

Barangay basketball clinics and Heroes Volleyball camps were organized in different communities by ABS-CBN Sports for young aspiring athletes. More than teaching the fundamentals in basketball and volleyball, the clinics served as an opportunity to create a positive impact in the lives of young Filipino athletes by instilling in them the values of hard work, discipline, and teamwork. Aside from receiving free quality sports training, kids were also able to draw inspiration from players like volleyball stars Isa Molde and Rex Intal, and former UAAP stars Tonino Gonzaga and Danica Jose as they learned from them directly through drills and motivational talks.

7. ABS-CBN Sports strengthened the bond within the sports community

Through NCAA On Tour and PVL On Tour, ABS-CBN Sports was able to bring the games closer to students and more communities by holding games in the school’s campuses for NCAA and in different parts of the Philippines for the PVL. Fans were also able to meet and interact with their favorite volleyball athletes in events such as the PVL and S+A Volleyball Grand Fans Day where avid supporters got to play games with their idols, cheer for them in fashion show, and enjoy performances from Star Music Artists.

Moreover, ABS-CBN Sports united and inspired the nation through producing “Isigaw Mo: Galing Natin Ito,” a sports anthem that celebrates Pinoy pride and Filipino greatness that was launched ahead of the Southeast Asian Games (SEAG). “The Score’s” “Galing Natin Ito,” a two-week special coverage of the SEAG gathered and put the spotlight not only on the medalists but on all SEAG participants. The special program went beyond the athletes’ preparation for their respective events as they also discussed their advocacies and interests as individuals that allowed the audience to relate to them on a deeper level.

8. ABS-CBN Sports gave Filipinos the total sports channel experience

From early morning until late night, ABS-CBN Sports gave viewers a wide variety of world-class sports content on S+A. It aired the best leagues and tournaments in the country from yesteryear’s MBA and PBL to today’s UAAP, NCAA, PVL, MPBL, and PCCL. It also was official broadcaster of the ASEAN Basketball League and ONE Championship, and for some time, even the global juggernaut that is the NBA. It also brought Filipinos the biggest local and international sporting events such as Palarong Pambansa, the AVC Asian Senior Women's Volleyball Championship, the AFF Suzuki Cup, Davis Cup, the Southeast Asian Games, and world title fights of Donnie Nietes, Nonito Donaire Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

It was instrumental in the rise in popularity of volleyball and cheerdancing/cheerleading in the Philippines, and gave exposure to other sports and disciplines such as football, juniors and women’s basketball, 3x3 basketball, beach volleyball, baseball, softball, badminton, billiards, streetdance, dancesport, triathlon, extreme sports, and esports.

As ABS-CBN Sports approaches the final buzzer, it is leaving behind contributions that have benefited and will forever be cherished by the local sports community. Its ability to tell stories evolved the way sports is watched here in the country and brought the game to greater heights. Maybe one day, like any true champion would, it will be back again to tell more stories.

Robin Padilla On-The-Spot Gave Away His Rubber Shoes

10:45:00 PM

In a recent event held in New Clark City in Pampanga, one of the celebrities and an advocate of sports, Robin Padilla, made one of the Philippine athletes very much happy. Giving away the rubber shoes he's wearing on the spot. He undoubtingly gave away that rubber shoes and walked around the stadium wearing his socks. We don't have the details of their discussion about why Robin gave his rubber shoes to that particular athlete but what we know is that all the athletes will receive that very same comfortable shoes that they'll be wearing during practice and on the SEA Games event. But that particular athlete is lucky enough to receive perhaps his idol's rubber shoes. The actual shoes Robin Padilla wore on that day.

These athletes will be competing in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games). They are training hard and using the new facilities created inside the New Clark City like the Aquatic Center and the Athletics Stadium, world-class facilities that will be used in the SEA Games.

The facilities that will be used for the SEA Games were inspected by some of the officials from the senate and the congress. This is to ensure that we are all ready hosting the 30th SEA Games.  WE WIN AS ONE!!!

Polaris Sportsman Aftermarket Parts and Accessories Buying Guide

1:34:00 PM

You're hyped for a weekend of off-roading, strapping on your dirt bike riding gear and jumping on your Polaris Sportsman. It's fun, but you feel like it's just a little short of perfection. Installing a few aftermarket mods can take your machine's performance to the next level. These are a few Polaris Sportsman aftermarket parts and accessories that can upgrade your quad.

Tires

When you ask ATV owners about their favorite mods you always get a chorus of "new tires." This is one spot that even quality manufacturers consistently skimp on their OE parts. They figure that tires need multiple replacements over the life of a machine anyway, so why should they foot the bill? Get more out of your engine by installing high-performance rubber on your Sportsman. Better traction means better speed and acceleration. AMS, Duro, Maxxis, and Interco are just a few of the manufacturers making outstanding tires for your quad.

Skid Plates

Even if you're a careful rider, you're going to run over a hazard eventually. It's not easy to see roots and rocks, especially when your goggles are dirty. Skid plates help you stay prepared for anything. They armor your quad against damage to axles, brake lines, and other vital parts. Made from durable but lightweight materials such as aircraft aluminum, they don't weigh down your ATV. Warn is one company that makes exceptional skid plates.

Headlights

Your machine's stock headlights aren't great and proper illumination can save your life. Aftermarket models are more powerful and focus their light better for improved range. Even if you don't intend to do much riding at night, there's less light when you're out in nature. Headlights not only help you see around you they help other riders see you. Candlepower is a manufacturer known for high-powered lights at reasonable prices.

Windshield

No matter how tough you are, riding fatigue catches up with you after a while. A windshield helps keep you fresh by reducing the wind whipping into you. It's also excellent for keeping roost out of your face and providing an extra layer of protection against flying debris. Typically made from sturdy polycarbonate or acrylic, they're difficult to damage but easy to see through. National Cycle, Quadboss, and Powermadd are among ATV riders' favorite windshield brands.

Thumb Throttle

A high-quality aftermarket thumb throttle gives you more responsive acceleration and a more comfortable ride. With a flick of your thumb, you can easily control your ATV. Cheap thumb throttles are less robust and provide a smaller surface on which you can make contact. If you're wearing gloves, make sure to buy a long, broad throttle. Moose Racing is one of the most trusted names in aftermarket parts, including their thumb throttles.

Customize your quad by choosing the best aftermarket parts from the top manufacturers. It's easy to improve the looks, performance, and comfort of your Sportsman with a few adjustments. Online shopping is a smart way to pick up superior equipment for less money. Shop for everything from your favorite mods to motorcycle helmets and get them delivered right to your door.

NLEX Road Warriors' Coach Yeng Guiao Between Basketball and Politics

1:36:00 PM

From coaching to serving the public, NLEX Road Warriors Coach Yeng Guiao shares two of his work that he loves doing, basketball and politics. Not everyone are given the opportunity to lead a team to its success and to be recognized as one of the great coach and leader in the field of basketball. Perhaps you can cobvincing everyone by simply showing his coaching track record. A career that placed some of the teams he coached to that pedestal level.

In a much simpler description Yeng Guiao is great coach.

He started his coaching career in 1990 and still leading basketball teams to their success until today. Presently, NLEX Road Warriors is the lucky team have one of the outstanding coach.

A basketball team isn't enough to contain his leadership skill, born from a family of public servants he entered politics in 2004 as Vice Governor of the Province of Pampanga. He was able to serve the public in three (3) consecutive terms under three Governors (Mark Lapid, Ed Panlilio, and Lilia Pineda). Then later on in 2013 he became the Congressman of Pampanga's 1st District.

So does basketball and politics are the same stress level? Based on the answer of Coach Yeng Guiao during the bloggers conference held in the headquarters of NLEX Road Warriors in Xavierville, QC., it's different in certain level. In basketball, the stress level is contained within the 48-minute game. While in politics the stress is for three (3) years. Yet, both are stressful.

According to Coach Guiao once you get used to it, you wont even bother to notice it.

Coach Yeng Guiao yearns to be back in Congress to have a voice as he is targeting to give more support in Philippine Sports and Athletes by pushing to pass the right budget for the Philippine Sport Commission and to serve his constituents in the 1st District of the Province of Pampanga. Especially this year, the Philippines will be hosting the South East Asian Games (SEA Games), particularly in Clark, Pampanga. According to Coach Guiao, "they are very much ready for the SEA Games."

This coming election the NLEX Road Warriors supports Coach Yeng Guiao in his pursuit of having a seat in the Congress to be the voice not only for the 1st District of Pampabga but for all athletes.

FWD is the Sponsor of the "World's Coolest Marathon"

11:14:00 PM

FWD is the sponsor of the "World's Coolest Marathon"! Yes, it is the coolest, literally, because the marathon is happening in one of the below zero degree places in the world. Where else but the North Pole, the "FWD North Pole Marathon".

Another great news FWD Philippines brings is its campaign "Fearless in the Arctic". At a media event held few days ago, FWD Philippines introduced its representative runner for the FWD North Pole Marathon, Ms. Joyette Jopson.  During the media event, full support were showed to Ms. Joyette, from the squad member to FWD Philippines executives, to members and supporters. Ms. Joyette is a triathlete, 2014 Ironman 70.3 Philippines Filipino Elite Champion, and FWD Financial Wealth Officer. She will be flying to the northernmost point on Earth to represent the Philippines in the forthcoming FWD North Polo Marathon. Imagine the cold weather, the terrain, and the challenge.

“FWD is extremely proud to continue our support for this challenging and one-of-a-kind event, as it resonates our core values of empowering people to pursue their passions and explore a lifetime of limitless possibilities,” said FWD Life Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Peter Grimes said. “Moreover, as a Pan-Asian insurer, we are a strong supporter of Asian achievement, endurance, and excellence.”

Jopson will be joined by FWD representative runners from Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand, collectively called FWD Team Asia, as well as runners from around the world, in what is dubbed as one of the world’s most challenging and grueling sporting events.

“We chose Joyette as the Philippines’ representative to the FWD North Pole Marathon this year because of her indomitable spirit, something that will help her conquer the North Pole. As the first Filipina who is set to conquer the marathon, she will proudly bring both FWD and Filipino Pride to the world stage,” Grimes added. “Joyette has broken her own barriers as a triathlete, competing with the most experienced athletes in the world, and this is why we believe she is perfect to be the country’s representative this year.”

“As an FWD Financial Wealth Officer, I take to heart our mission to take care of our customers’ financial future and change the way people feel about insurance,” Jopson said. “I am truly grateful to have been chosen to represent FWD and the Philippines in the North Pole Marathon as this really will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me! Inspired by the FWD’s Get Ready to Live brand spirit, I will bring with me relentless courage and determination against the world’s harshest conditions as I aim to make my country proud.”

How extreme is the "World's Coolest Marathon"? Well, as what the Guinness World Record recognize it the "Northernmost Marathon on Earth" is a very unique and extreme marathon, it is run on a small 4.22-kilometer (2.62-mile) loop about 10 times, over hard snow or ice. This marathon is recognized by the Association of International Marathons & Distance Races (AIMS). Adding to its uniqueness, it is the only certified marathon that is run entirely on the frozen water of the Arctic Ocean.

Toughest marathons it may seems but we know Filipinos can conquer everything and Joyette, she'll the first Filipina to conquer the "World's Coolest Marathon".

Game of Drones 1st flight at Circulo Verde

10:14:00 PM

If you've heard the phrase "toys for the big boys", well, this one is truly for the big boys. Not only that this is played by grown ups, but also maintaining it is costly. This is not your typical toys in the toy shop. What's more interesting is how it was developed and made into a sports out of being a hobby. The birth of an exquisite adult sports entertainment.

Who would have thought that the idea would be materialized and become the first drone flying sports. Thus, giving to the birth of Game of Drones which showcased its first flight at Circulo Verde.

We all know that Circulo Verde just launched its first signature pump track and bike playground here in the Philippines. And with that area great for outdoor activities, the revitalized industry player introduced yet another signature event which captured the imagination of millennials and kids of all ages. Everyone present at Circulo Verde looked skyward and witnessed a spectacle of lights and drone feats- The grandest yet - Game of Drones 1st Flight.

Circulo Verde, Ortigas & Co.'s 10 hectare master planned mixed use community in Quezon city was set aglow with the spectacular sight of drones flipping in the air. After dusk, the place was ablaze with lights coming from the lit tracks where the quadcopters coursed through, prompting spectators to squeal in delight & excitement.

Circulo Verde oferred the perfect venue for Game of Drones 1st Flight where drone professionals, hobbyists & amateurs had the whole day for themselves to race - and learn a few tricks using the remote-controlled aircrafts.

The games were open to two drone categories: the Spec Class or Beginners for pilots using a quadcopter with 35 LiPo and 5" diameter props and Open Class or Advance for pilots with quadcopters that weighed a maximum of 50 lbs. The Game Arena was divided into several areas with different races for drone controllers, namely Time Trial, Drone Sprint, Rotocross, and Drone Photography.

But Game of Drones was not exclusively for drone enthusiasts. The country's biggest and grandest drone spectacle also enticed families and friends to bond over raffles and other activities while served with first-class entertainment throughout the jampacked one-day event. Everyone from kids and teens to adults also took advantage of food booths and other stalls that sold sports apparel from sponsors and concessionaires.

It was definitely air supremacy ablaze as everyone enjoyed the spectacle leaving a collective question which begged to be answered: What will Ortigas & Co. offer next?
