The World of DC, DC Superheroes Pocket Cosplay Competition at SM Fairview

I have been aspiring to join and participate in a cosplay event but it seems that doing one will take time for me because of the busy schedules, of course work eats most of that time. Planning what character to portray, preparing the costumes, and studying the moves of the character would definitely need time and attention. I remember doing just a plain school costume for my son do entail time and effort. That’s why I salute these individuals who create their costumes and put effort in pulling off the character out of the comic books into reality just like what I have witnessed yesterday at SM Fairview with DC Super Heroes Pocket Cosplay Competition.

This is just one of the preliminary competitions seeded by World of DC into different locations in preparation for the main event which is The DC Comics Super Hero World Record Event. This is to set a World Record for the Largest Gathering of People Dressed as DC Comics Super Heroes which will be held in different venues around the globe and as for the Philippines, it will take place at The Block Atrium, SM City North EDSA on April 18, 2015.

The SM Fairview DC Super Hero Pocket Cosplay Competition was hosted by Alfonso and for this leg of the competition there are 13 participants, including the two (2) cute babies dressed as Superman, who bravely move their feet on the stage. Together with their guts, moves and costumes they played their DC Superhero characters in front of the judges, by the way one of the judges is a renowned cosplayer who portrayed Master Pogi.

There are crowd favorites and according to the hosts the most spoiled DC Super Hero is Batman. As evident there are three (3) cosplayers who wore the Batman costume. Aside from Batman, there are also two (2) Supermans, two (2) Robins, and two (2) Batgirls. The other four (4) are solo, Catwoman, Cyborg, Green Lantern and Hawk Girl. It was like you are warped in to the World of DC Super Heroes.

Of course just like any other competition there’s always the interview portion and these participants are asked why they portrayed the character and how long it does it take to finish the costume. I think most of them answered that they choose the character because it reflects their personality. Then they are instructed to make their final pose before announcing the winners and without any further delay the hosts announced the winners.

3rd Place – Federico Del Carmen as BATMAN

2nd Place – Christian Umali as CYBORG

All of the winners received cash prizes 3rd Place – Php1,000, 2nd Place – Php3,000 and the 1st Place – Php5,000

Oh before I forgot there will also be a DC Comics all-star fun run which will happen also on April 18, 2015. To know more of the events happening visit http://dcworldrecord.worldofdcph.com/
