‘Roja’ Cast Looks Back: Lessons on Loyalty, Pain, and Letting Go

3/21/2026 10:53:00 AM

As Roja nears its final episode, the emotions are no longer just part of the script—they’re real, and they’re shared by the people who brought the story to life.

For lead stars Donny Pangilinan and Kyle Echarri, wrapping up the series feels like saying goodbye to something that challenged them in more ways than one.

During the show’s finale media conference, both actors spoke openly about what the journey has been like—from physically demanding scenes to the emotional weight of the story.

“I want to thank the fans. Kasi kung wala sila, wala ’yung series na ’to,” Donny said, pausing as if taking it all in. “We went through a lot for this project. May mga times na na-injure talaga kami. Action isn’t really my comfort zone, but I learned so much.”

Kyle shared the same sense of pride and exhaustion. “We went through literal blood, sweat, and tears,” he said. “Nakaka-proud siya. It’s bittersweet, honestly. Excited ako for everyone to see how it ends.”

Off-camera, the cast also found themselves reflecting on the deeper themes of Roja—especially when it comes to pain, justice, and the choices people make when emotions run high.

One of the more grounded reminders came during the conversation about grief. A cast member pointed out how easy it is to let pain turn into something heavier.

“As much as we feel grief—and okay lang ’yun—we shouldn’t take it into our own hands,” the actor said. “Minsan kasi, kakaisip natin na may dapat mangyari sa isang tao, tayo pa ’yung mas napapagod at nasasaktan.”

It’s a thought that hits close to home, especially in a story built around revenge and betrayal.

Veteran actor Joel Torre also emphasized that justice isn’t something you rush or take into your own hands. “There’s a process,” he reminded. “Hindi puwedeng sabihin na magiging Robin Hood ka na lang.”

That idea ties back to one of the show’s central themes: loyalty.

“Everything leads back to loyalty,” one cast member shared. “Kung walang betrayal, walang breaking of trust, baka hindi rin umabot sa ganitong situation.”

It’s a simple statement, but one that carries weight—especially in a story where relationships fall apart because of secrets and choices.

Beyond the action and plot twists, the cast also spoke about something more personal: the value of keeping your word.

“Your word is powerful,” one said. “Money can’t buy loyalty. Money can’t buy trust. That’s something you really have to protect.”

These are the kinds of lessons that stay long after the cameras stop rolling.

On-screen, the final episodes promise intense confrontations and emotional reveals. Kyle’s character, Olsen, finally uncovers the truth about his father, while Donny’s Liam faces one of the hardest decisions of his life—turning over his own mother, Greta, played by Lorna Tolentino.

Meanwhile, tensions rise between Wendy and Greta, portrayed by Janice de Belen and Tolentino, as past betrayals resurface. Their confrontation brings in Magnus, played by Raymond Bagatsing, completing a complicated web of relationships that has kept viewers hooked.

But if there’s one takeaway the cast hopes people remember, it’s this: not everything needs to end in anger.

“There’s already so much hate in the world,” one actor said quietly. “Sometimes, it’s better to let God handle the revenge.”

As Roja takes its final bow, the cast walks away with more than just a finished series. They leave with stories of hard work, shared struggles, and lessons that feel very real—even outside the world of television.

For fans, the ending may feel sudden. But for those behind the scenes, it’s something they’ll carry with them for a long time.
