From khaki to navy blue, the policeman image has indeed made a great transformation through the years, and even our perception of the police force has changed too.
With the change of leadership in the Philippine National Police (PNP), everyone expects transformation from its operation to its management. Under the supervision of Chief PNP, PGen Rodolfo S. Azurin, Jr., stakeholders are looking for more accomplishments and positive outcomes with the organization's programs. One of its running program is the Malasakit, Kaayusan, Kapayapaan tungo sa Kaunlaran.
In line with the programs of the PNP, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO's) new Regional Director, PBGen Jonnel C. Estomo, enforces and implements the S.A.F.E. program, which he used when he was still the Provincial Director in Cavite, then it was later on used in Region 5. The SAFE Program stands for Seen Appreciated Felt Extraordinary.
- The Police must be seen.
- All programs must be appreciated by the people.
- All programs must be felt by the people.
- The actions of the Police should be extraordinary.
Just a week ago, a lunch meeting was held at the restaurant of the UP University Hotel where PLt Col Dexter Versola, the Spokesperson of NCRPO met with us, bloggers. The main topic of the meeting was to spread through social media the current programs and projects of the PNP, in particular, the NCRPO.
During the lunch meeting, PLtCol Versola point by point discussed and shared information and programs of the PNP, in particular, the NCRPO. Some of these are the S.A.F.E. NCRPO, Oplan Sita, Sea Patrol, Sky Patrol, National Police Clearance, On the Spot Correction, and of course, the war on drugs.
The current leadership sides with the "rule of law." All programs, projects, and activities of NCRPO are based on pertinent laws. If the previous leadership shows aggressiveness, the current one is the opposite with basis.
PLtCol Versola also highlighted the quad concept of operation. Prevent crime by law enforcement operation, Preempt crime through police intelligence, Investigate crime through investigation directorate, and Organize the police and community through Police Community Relations.
