Next to boxing and basketball, beauty pageant is one of the anticipated event in the Philippines. The Binibining Pilipinas, the most prestigious beauty pageant in the country, has already chosen the 40 candidates that will vie for the six international beauty titles.

The Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) through their online portal released the names of the 40 exceptional women who would be competing in the country’s most prestigious beauty pageant in the coronation night slated for June 9.

BPCI Chairperson Mrs. Stella Marquez Araneta headed the screening together with the members of the BPCI executive committee and pageant sponsors, the 40 official Filipina candidates who would be vying for six international titles are:


These 40 women are in for an exciting journey. After the screening, they are tipped to visit several charities, engage with sponsors and participate in the talent competition, fashion show, photo exhibit and parade of beauties.

Maria Mika Maxine Medina, is the Philippines representative for the most renowned beauty pageant, Miss Universe. Right at the start of the preparation for this prestigious beauty pageant Pinoys had been debating online and offline whether for Maxine Medina to use an interpreter or not.

A few days right before the finals night, in most online and offline news tells that Maxine Medina will be having an interpreter on standby. So it is.
On the day of the Miss Universe, when all other ladies where eliminated and is down to just 6 of the lovely ladies namely Miss France, Miss Kenya, Miss Colombia, Miss Philippines, Miss Thailand, and Miss Haiti, Steve Harvey announced that Miss Colombia, Miss France, Miss Thailand and Miss Haiti will be using an interpreter. Pinoy crowds made a sound reaction, not sure if it is a reaction of support or not for Maxine Medina not using an interpreter. Nonetheless it was announced and Miss Philippines is the first to answer a question.

Congratulations to Maxine Medina, Miss Philippines for making to the Top 6 of the 65th Miss Universe. It was an intense and thrilling journey but the world is round. Things doesn't usually lead to what you want and there are other circumstances along the way. Still congrats and thank you for taking us all into your journey.

Kwento Ni Toto shares the result of the recently concluded beauty pageant Miss Philippines Earth as the result with Ms Cebu City, Jamie Herrell crowned as Miss Philippines Earth. Her answer impressed the judges and the crowd as she answers the question from Judge Risa Hontiveros "Do you think Ms. Cebu we have been good children to Mother Earth?"  Her answer was "I think we haven't been good children. In fact, I believe that we are the number one cause of our her problems," and she added "We are the reason why we're having climate change. We are the reason why we're having floods. But in return, if we can only help her, she can help us back and take care of us, too."

Kwento Ni Toto remembers the very first time to be with some of the Earth's beautiful ladies was during the opening of the expressway in the north. It was great seeing such beauties. This time or should we say this year, these beautiful candidates of Miss Philippines Earth 2014 takes over SM Supermarket Megamall and the Mega A Event Center to show everyone just what “beauty for a cause” is all about. More than beauty and brains, delegates of the Miss Philippines Earth have green advocacies that separate them from the rest of the pageant world. So in other words they are beauties with a cause.
