A Sign of Things to Come for Print Shops with the Latest Large Format Printers

11:13:00 PM

In our daily routine, few things stop us in our tracks like an awesome billboard or creative signage. With digital advertising increasingly gaining traction in the region, billboards and creative displays continue evolving to engage, entice and inspire us. Despite the many distractions in our world, glowing backlit displays, creative vehicle wraps, and vibrant POP displays are evolving to help brands gain attention.

Indeed, companies are finding more ways to incorporate engaging patterns, bold colours and unique prints into the lives of consumers by being more creative and innovative in their visual engagements. The latest advancements in printing technology, including advanced image processing software and high-density inks, are supporting these new applications with more sustainable processes that deliver impactful visuals that companies expect.

These expanding printing applications are giving print shops across Southeast Asia an opportunity to contribute to the growth of new signage trends in the region. By investing in the latest printer models in their shops, businesses can deliver high-quality outputs on a wider range of paper types and materials. The efficiency, precision and versatility of these machines make it more cost effective over time than older models, since businesses spend less time on maintenance, complete jobs for customers faster and use less energy to operate.

New Indoor and Outdoor Large Format Printing Applications

In an increasingly competitive market, outdoor advertising and displays remain an effective way for companies to stand out and enhance consumer experiences. Thanks to advances in film materials, finishing, and a growing automotive industry in Asia Pacific, the practice of wrapping buses, cars and other vehicles with branding and advertisements is growing rapidly. Estimates suggest that the global market will expand at a 15% CAGR between 2021 and 2025.

The interior design market is also utilising printing solutions to feed a growing market demand for bespoke patterns on wallpapers, curtains, and other creative indoor design ideas. Substrates certified safe for indoor use, decals, canvases and other wall coverings are gaining popularity among consumers with growing disposable incomes, interior designers, and commercial printers alike.

What the Latest Printers Offer

These emerging opportunities as well as the jobs print shops handle today can be completed with the latest large format signage printers like the Epson S-series and R-series. These printers, with Epson’s industry-leading PrecisionCore printhead technology, consistently produce vibrant, high-quality prints. With almost double the resolution of conventional printheads, and the ability for each nozzle to produce miniscule dot sizes on demand up to 50,000 times a second, print jobs can achieve fine detail and fill an area fast from the first printout. This improves the print output with a wider range of inks including aqueous dyes, Eco Solvent, and UV curable inks, as well as its durability on a wide range of materials. Turnaround times for print jobs are faster and businesses can print higher volumes without significant downtime or maintenance.

Epson’s UltraChrome GS3 series eco-solvent and UltraChrome RS ink also contributes to higher-quality images by delivering a wider range of colours. The result is an outstanding gloss level and colour vibrancy. Ink set consumption has been reduced and ink dries faster than before. It is also UL GREENGUARD Gold certified, confirming that chemical emissions during printing are low enough to make it safe for indoor use. The high-yield inks also produce less waste than traditional ink cartridges, which is better for the environment. These new models provide the highest level of durability, precision and sustainability, making the printing process more cost-effective over time.

Business Opportunities Abound

Creative businesses are pushing the boundaries of signage by adopting the latest large format printer technology, which enables print shop owners to increase their product offering and the applications that they can produce. As many businesses look to grow in 2021, investing in the latest printer technology can deliver a much-needed boost by increasing commercial opportunities for local print shops across Southeast Asia. These printers can open the door to new service offerings that address the evolving needs of brands and keep pace with indoor and outdoor design trends. Epson’s S-series and R-series printers deliver superior results in the shortest possible time and enable local printers to adapt to these changes and widen their service offerings.

Fine Point Reading on Why Ink Tank Printers Are a Better Choice

10:03:00 AM

If you have ever noticed messages in work and marketing emails encouraging you to consider the environment before printing, you are well aware of the perception that printing output, and its associated hardware, produce waste that finds its way into landfills. Paper waste alone makes up between 7% and 23% of municipal solid waste depending on whether it is a low-, middle-, or high-income country.

While printer energy consumption, paper waste, ink usage, and cartridge replacement have an environmental impact, consumers may be largely unaware of the advances that have been made to reduce the printer output, materials and accessories that find its way to landfills. Consumers in Asia Pacific are becoming more conscious of whether the products they are buying are green, or clean, as their sustainability sophistication grows in each market. Businesses are also devising ways to achieve more circular models to encourage responsible production and consumption. Home printers, in particular, have received some tech-based enhancements in recent years that are making it possible to print freely.

As consumers have become more aware of the environmental impact of their activities, they are interested in finding products that are sustainable but also convenient to use and cost effective above all. Continuous ink supply system (CISS) printers, or ink tank printers, have emerged in the home printer market to address these needs. Its main features are edging out standard inkjets and laser printers in each of these areas.

Printing at Home is Here to Stay

In spite of trends to digitise and go paperless, printers continue to be an essential technology in homes. This was proven when demand for home printers surged last year as people settled into home offices to work and online schooling became the norm during the pandemic. Deloitte anticipates that going forward, home printers may not be used daily as some routines resume but the need for hard copy printouts will persist for people who continue to spend some time working or learning from home.

The home printer market has incorporated more sustainable features in recent years. In particular, ink tank printers that were typically used by small businesses or home offices with high volume printing needs, are increasingly being purchased for personal use. Ink tank printers run on large refillable tanks instead of individual cartridges that need to be discarded once empty. These tanks hold more ink, eliminating the need for frequent cartridge changes that can be costly over time. This makes it a cost-effective option for home offices as well as start-ups and small businesses.

Leading the Evolution of the Home Printer Market

As the first company to introduce ink tank printers to the market, Epson has changed the approach to inkjet printing with the EcoTank lineup. On top of this revolution, Heat-Free Technology with Epson’s PrecisonCore Printhead consumes up to 85% less energy than laser printers of a similar speed. The CO2 emissions of consumables (e.g. raw materials, manufacturing, production and distribution of parts, and consumer use and disposal) is less than a fifth of conventional cartridge printer models. This can mean distinct savings in annual energy bills.

With no heat required for warming up the printer, EcoTank printers operate at a consistently high printing speed. The Heat-Free Technology also makes Epson’s EcoTank printers more efficient and capable of printing reliably for a long period with minimal maintenance downtime to allow more time to focus on productive tasks. EcoTank printers also feature ink bottles with an ultra-high page yield of up to 7,500 pages in black and 6,000 pages in color. The ink is simple to refill, with spill-free bottle designs to make the process fast and maintain productivity.

Using an Epson EcoTank printer produces pages at a fraction of the cost of a standard inkjet or laser printer, especially when frequent and bulk printing is required. For the environmentally conscious, purchasing an Epson EcoTank printer is a reliable, affordable choice that aligns closely with sustainable values, while helping you to be more productive at home.

Epson's New Printer Sustainability Campaign "Be Cool"

9:59:00 AM

"Be cool!" or sometimes it is also "chill man," got something to do with being light and subtle. Also, you can refer to it as being green. Today, there are different calls from environmental organizations to address the issue of global warming.  Fortunately, there are companies in different industries that signified their support by converting most of their products or machinery to be environmentally sustainable.

In many industries, one of the most significant side effects of the increased output impact on the environment, with greater use of resources affecting carbon footprint. For businesses, it can be a tricky balancing act to weigh productivity against sustainability, but the two do not have to be mutually exclusive.

This is the premise of Be Cool, the new printer sustainability campaign launched by Epson Southeast Asia. The regional campaign was created to remind customers that it is possible to maximize efficiency and productivity while reducing environmental impact. Banking on the brand’s expertise in innovation, businesses can choose to Be Cool and discover how Epson technology makes the sustainable choice a simple one.

The campaign is fuelled by Epson’s range of EcoTank and Business Inkjet printers that use Heat-Free Technology to deliver advanced benefits over laser and thermal inkjet technology. It also features the world’s first[ PaperLab is the first office paper making system to use a dry process, based on Epson research conducted in November 2016.] dry process office paper-making system, PaperLab.

“Our Be Cool campaign demonstrates how Epson’s Heat-Free Technology and PaperLab can transform the way businesses work by helping increase productivity, while saving on energy consumption and use of resources. By making the switch to our cool products, businesses can take an active role in the journey towards promoting greener, more sustainable businesses across Southeast Asia,” said Tan May Lin, Regional Director for Epson Sales Division, Retail Products, and Regional Brand & Communications.

Printing can Be Cool

Be Cool brings three product lines front and centre to highlight how its eco features can help significantly streamline processes and give businesses a competitive advantage.

Epson’s Heat-Free Technology ensures that its EcoTank and Business Inkjet printers use no heat in the ink ejection process, which means less power consumption and more savings on electricity costs.

With this original technology, no heat is required for printer warm up, allowing you to save time with consistent high-speed printing. Since inkjet printers do not have fusers that need heating, less energy is consumed, resulting in cost savings for the business. Epson’s EcoTank and Business Inkjet printers also use fewer parts and consumables that require replacement which minimises user intervention and increases productivity.

Pushing the envelope on environment-friendly technology is Epson’s first in-office paper recycling system, PaperLab. Powered by Dry Fiber Technology, PaperLab turns wastepaper into new paper, using a virtually dry process[ A small amount of water is used to maintain a certain level of humidity inside the system.], in just 3 minutes[ Approximate values. Output speed, first sheet out time may vary depending on environmental conditions.]. It uses only about 1/100th[ Water consumption of ordinary paper includes water used in the growth of the trees that supply the virgin pulp. Ordinary paper means paper distributed in Japan.] of the water it takes to make an equivalent mass of ordinary paper so that businesses conserve water while reducing the volume of paper that must be transported to off-site recyclers.

When data security is crucial for your business, PaperLab delivers absolute certainty that key confidential waste is safely and effectively destroyed. It removes toner and inks and reduces the wastepaper into fibers. This means information stays safely on site with no need to trust external contractors.

With PaperLab’s unique technology, water is conserved, less heat is used, carbon footprint is reduced, and wood resources are saved. Combined with Epson’s heat-free printing solutions, PaperLab helps build a recycling loop in the office and promotes a circular economy for businesses.

Make the switch

By highlighting the synergy between Epson’s Heat-Free Technology or Dry Fiber Technology with the products’ productivity features, the Be Cool campaign presents how performance and sustainability can go hand in hand and urges businesses to make the green choice with Epson’s business solutions.

Buy Real, Buy Smart: Protect your warranty and your equipment by using Epson Genuine Inks for your Epson Printers

7:52:00 AM

Sometimes in order to save some people would go for the counterfeit but in fact, it is the opposite. As printing becomes more accessible, an increasing number of counterfeit inks are entering the market to provide consumers with cheaper options. While it might be tempting to cut costs by purchasing non-genuine inks, doing so entails serious risks and threats.

For Epson printer users at home or in the office, managing printing requirements demands saving money while you can, but what is the true cost of buying into counterfeit inks? Here are some of the dangers of using non-genuine inks for your printer:

1.Possible printer damage

Non-genuine inks purchased from unauthorized sellers may cause leaks and clogging that may lead to printer damage. Using non-genuine inks may provide savings in the short run, but it can potentially be costly with the additional servicing required when the other components in your printer have been compromised.

2.Warranty void

A home or office printer is an asset, and you want to make sure that you have the best protection for your investment. Deciding to go for counterfeit inks will automatically void your Epson printer warranty, and since counterfeit inks may potentially harm your printer, the money saved on the initial purchase of non-genuine inks simply isn’t worth the potential cost of having to replace damaged parts without warranty protection.

3.Higher costs

Counterfeit inks are widely available, and consumers often choose to use them believing that they provide the same performance as genuine inks. This could be a costly mistake as non-genuine supplies could pose multiple risks as mentioned above and may affect both print quality and performance.

Maintaining your printer equipment in good working condition is the key to productivity. To get the most out of your Epson printer, we recommend using only Epson genuine inks to keep your machine at optimal performance.

Epson’s genuine inks are produced following stringent quality control standards that guarantee the best performance of your printer, ink, and media. To ensure that you are purchasing an authentic Epson ink bottle, look for the Genuine Epson Color Shifting Label and Hologram Sticker on the packaging:

If you suspect that the inks you have purchased are fake, go to this link on the Epson Philippines website to submit a report.

Saving money at home or in the office is important but spending a bit more on genuine supplies is always worth it, rather than taking a chance with counterfeit supplies. To find an Epson Authorized Dealer near you, check our store listing on the website or browse Epson’s flagship store in Lazada.
