SM Foundation provides life-saving aid to earthquake-ravaged communities in Turkey and Syria

7:55:00 AM

SM Foundation Inc. (SMFI) has extended a helping hand to Türkiye and Syria, two countries that were hit by devastating earthquakes. On February 27, 2023, SMFI sent aid through the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to assist with relief efforts.

The aid was in the form of 200 units of gasoline generators, which were handed over to the PRC by SM Foundation Health and Medical Programs Executive Director Connie Angeles. These generators will provide power to the quake-stricken areas and will help to ensure that essential services, such as hospitals and emergency response centers, are able to operate.

In addition to the generators, SM Foundation also donated Php5 million to assist with the needs of earthquake victims. This contribution will go towards providing food, water, shelter, and medical supplies to those affected by the disaster.

The earthquakes that hit Türkiye and Syria were both extremely powerful. The first earthquake, which had a magnitude of 7.8, struck southeast Türkiye and northwest Syria, causing widespread damage and loss of life. This was followed by a magnitude 6.3 earthquake that hit southern Türkiye, leading to additional casualties and destruction.

SM Foundation's aid is an important gesture of solidarity with the people of Türkiye and Syria during this difficult time. The foundation has a long-standing commitment to supporting social good initiatives, and its efforts to provide assistance in the wake of natural disasters are just one example of its commitment to making a positive impact in the world.

City of Manila Records As One of the Highest Number of Vaccinated Individuals

12:02:00 AM

The government's vaccination program is ongoing in every city and municipality, and are giving the vaccines to individuals according to its list of priorities. Perhaps this is our fastest and effective way to fight COVID19, ensuring everyone's safety. One of the local government units that listed the biggest number of people vaccinated on a single day is the City of Manila with a total number of 27,626 on June 18, 2021. Together with the different hospitals under the City, like Sta. Ana and San Lazaro the number would not be impossible to reach. Let us note that Sta. Ana Hospital is one of the respected hospitals to first open a Covid ward.

Yorme Isko Moreno has made vaccination centers more pleasing for its constituents by asking help from SM Manila and SM San Lazaro who agreed to allow the city the use of its air-conditioned theaters as vaccination centers.

Yorme does his mandate, serving the people of Manila.

Aside from the City of Manila, other cities also did go beyond in order to vaccinate more individuals.

DOLE's TUPAD Program Gains Praises From Rep Jam Baronda

1:02:00 PM

Representative Jam Baronda of Iloilo City praised the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for helping close to a million workers in 2020 under its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

According to DOLE, by December last year, P4.5 billion in wages was paid to nearly one million workers affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and typhoons that hit the country. The displaced workers were given emergency employment to help them tide over the crisis.

“TUPAD is DOLE’s most successful program that has helped Filipinos who were unfortunately affected especially by the ongoing pandemic. Sec. Silvestre Bello III is the government’s Mr. Tupad,” said Baronda. DOLE said 939,209 informal sector workers were assisted under TUPAD. Under the Bayanihan Act 2, P6 billion was allotted for the program. Beneficiaries were paid to work for 10 to 16 days.

Baronda thanked President Rodrigo Duterte and Bello for helping thousands of displaced workers in the country.

“The President’s mandate under the pandemic is to help millions of Filipinos through various means and TUPAD is one of them,” she said.

The DOLE expected the number of TUPAD beneficiaries to reach more than one million with funds still available for the program. Baronda said many businesses and individuals were affected by COVID-19 pandemic and as a result, workers were displaced.

“Through DOLE’s TUPAD, the government continues to provide help to displaced workers through employment,” she said.

Congresswoman Florida "Ate Rida" Robes, With A Heart of a Public Servant, Give Thanks To All Who Supports Them

9:51:00 PM

"In Public Service dapat nandun ang puso mo... (in Public Service, your heart should be there to serve)" or interpreted in another way "Don't go to Public Service if your heart is not into it." True that in Public Service the Public goes first with the services that you do to them. With that, a lot of projects, infrastructures, and plans are being laid in the City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. Creating more opportunities for the people. This is the thrust of the Public Servant tandem of Congresswoman Florida "Ate Rida" Robes and Mayor Arthur Robes. Serving the people of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

Of course, without their supporters and constituents, the progress of SJDM would not be possible. It is a 'give and take' ecosystem, as one of the sayings that go ' the more you sow the more you will reap'. And since the people of SJDM planted a good public servant they are now reaping the benefits that made the city to where it is now.

In an interview with Congresswoman Robes, she shared some of the highlights of their "Thanksgiving" or "Pasasalamat" to all their supporters and to all who helped them in the process. One of which is the Town Hall Meeting or Ulat Sa Bayan where they will report to their constituents the progress and development of the city. Also, to make use of the time and resources they'll be kicking off their yearly gift-giving for the people. They'll do this from December 1 up to 17, giving gifts to around 80,000 households in 59 barangays. The lighting of the Christmas Tree and some other activities highlighting the talents of San Josenos.

Also, Congresswoman Robes, through the interview, gave her thanks to many personalities and organizations that have helped in the development of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. Naming them are her husband, Mayor Arthur Robes; their Supporters; President Rodrigo Roa Duterte; Senator Cynthia Villar for sponsoring Saint Bernardette Churros and Maternity Hospital together with Secretary Mark Villar, and Secretary Duque; the Bahay Partylist for the HOA Building; Senator Bato Dela Rosa for the promised Philippine National Building; Senator Nancy Binay and Secretary Mark Villar for the Sports Complex and Convention Center; and Philip "Kuya Ipe" Salvador.

Indeed there are many things to be thankful and that is why Congresswoman Florida Robes is blessed with so many things because she is very much thankful to everyone.
