Yam Concepcion and Joseph Marco in an iWant Series about Separated but Living Under One Roof entitled "Uncoupling"

1:56:00 PM

What can go wrong when timing is a bit unfriendly? Well, just got into a media conference of this new series that will air on iWant this coming December 20. The iWant series stars Yam Concepcion and Joseph Marco in a story of failed relationship while living under one roof, "Uncoupling".

According to its director Dwein Baltazar, they got the idea of the story after hearing and learning that some of the big foreign actors and actresses revealed that they are uncoupled already. Thus, creating this light, funny but realistic story that revolves around the story of Alex played by Yam Concepcion and Carlo portrayed by Joseph Marco who decides to become friends after their marriage crumbles - all for the sake of their only son.

This is husband and wife who have fallen out of love and have been struggling, for years, to save their marriage. On the eve their anniversary, they mutually decide to "uncouple" and live their separate lives while figuring out how to keep their family intact. Probably, one setting that is uncomfortable and uncontrollable.

Their plan is all set and all is well until reality sets in. It does not take too long before their devoted in-laws enter the already complex picture and try to get them back together.

As they go into an uncharted territory, will Alex and Carlo be able to protect their son from the grief over their complicated setup? Is it really possible for two parents and former lovers to move on from each other while being together?

Sincere and sprinkled with lighthearted comedy, "Upcoming" tackles the reality of married couples' struggles today.

Co-produced by iWant and Big Reveal Entertainment, "Uncoupling" is directed by Dwein Baltazar, who also directed the acclaimed iWant original series "Past, Present, Perfect?," wrote the blockbuster movie "Exes Baggage," and won Best Director and Bes Screenplay for her movie "Gusto Kita With All My Hypothalamus" - also named Best Picture - at the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Science (FAMAS) Awards 2019.

Watch and stream "Uncoupling" for free starting on Friday, December 20 on the iWant app or iwant.ph.

Watch Theses 6 Friends-Turned-Lovers Stories in Pinoy Movies That Made us Believe Love is Worth The Jump on iWant

9:10:00 AM

Love stories always make us feel good and teach us that love itself has its ups and downs. One interesting love story is when you fell in love with your bestfriend. Though it’s the ultimate unspoken rule—never fall for your best friend. But then again, can we really choose who we fall in love with? No words can describe how thrilling, scary, and kilig-filled the experience truly is when your dearest friend crosses boundaries to take even more care of you.

However, when things start to spiral, will you be prepared for the worst? For what’s more excruciating than losing both a lover and a friend?

This complicated situation is too common that it has become its own genre in Pinoy movies. Here are six friends-turned-lovers movie tandems that prove love is worth the shot, and you can watch them all on iWant:

1. ASHLEY AND CHUCK IN “SILLY RED SHOES”
Chuck (Kyle Echarri) may not have been the best shoemaker at first, but he strived to provide one perfect pair for Ashley (Francine Diaz). Even though she used to be insecure about her “alien feet,” Chuck never failed to raise her spirits. And in one big encounter that changed Ashley’s life, Chuck never surrendered and followed her as she went through one of the toughest times of her life.

2. BUJOY AND NED IN “LABS KITA, OKEY KA LANG?”
College bestfriends Bujoy (Jolina Magdangal) and Ned (Marvin Agustin) hid their feelings for one another at first, but it all changed when Ned confronted Bujoy with this iconic line: "Yes, kaibigan mo 'ko... Kaibigan mo lang ako. And I'm so stupid to make the biggest mistake of falling in love with my best friend!"

3. MAE AND BOGS IN “PAANO NA KAYA?”
Everyone thought Bogs (Gerald Anderson) was #cancelledt when Mae (Kim Chiu) blurted out, “Bogs, sana lumayo ka na lang, sana umiwas ka na lang, maiintindihan ko pa 'yun. Pero Bogs, syinota mo ako, e. Syinota mo ang best friend mo."

But hey, he turned it around and the two rode out the sunset together.

4. IVAN AND PATCHOT IN “MUST BE LOVE”
Ah, young love. We can’t really blame young chick magnet Ivan (Daniel Padilla) when he looked at one-of-the-boys Patchot (Kathryn Bernardo) as only a close friend and a basketball playmate at first. "May babaeng bine-bestfriend, at may babaeng gini-girlfriend," he said. But he took all those back when he realized Patchot had everything he wanted and needed.

5. CHANTEL AND NOAH IN “MY FAIRY TAIL LOVE STORY”
After Chantel (Janella Salvador) gets cursed with mermaid fins after disturbing some corals, trusty Noah (Elmo Magalona) never leaves her side and helps her find out how to cure her legs. Even when Chantel thinks it’s a kiss from DJ Ethan (Kiko Estrada) that will save her, Noah paves the way for her happiness until she finds out that it is Noah that she really needs.

6. CARSON AND DIO IN “I’M DRUNK, I LOVE YOU”
Over a music fest by the beach, plates of Bagnet, and bottles of booze—Carson (Maja Salvador) made sure to make her last roadtrip with bestfriend Dio (Paulo Avelino) an unforgettable one as she finally let out what she has kept for seven years. Timecheck!

iWant's Bagman with New Season

12:02:00 PM

The new season of iWant's Bagman will officially be released for streaming today at 12 noon. If you ask me Arjo Atayde is one good and versatile actor, he really knows his craft and you can find the passion in every character that he plays. This is what I always observe whenever he has new movie or TV series, he really knows how to make the character he plays stand out and you can't find any trace of previous roles that he portrays on the current. Always new, not as him but the figure of the person he is playing.

That is why a lot of different roles are being offered to him because of his passion and his dedication to the craft.

Catch Arjo Atayde plays his character as Benjo in the new season of BAGMAN. This time he plays the same character but a lot more. A more interesting level of the character a much more intriguing story about politics, society, family and more.

7 Interesting Facts to Know About Stephen Rong, The New Taiwanese Heartthrob to Look Out For

7:09:00 AM

Is it going to be Jerry Yan's replacement or just simply another heartthrob to look out for? Well, whatever it may come, the good news is that we have an interesting story to watch. Yes, this Taiwanese actor-heartthrob, Stephen Rong, is one of the lead stars of iWant’s original romantic comedy-fantasy series “Taiwan That You Love.” In the digital series, Stephen plays Wei-Ting, the brooding bad boy who falls for Barbie Imperial’s Ivi and clashes with Paulo Angeles’ Eric – a love triangle whipped up by a magical book and destiny.

So for those drooling already of his Instagram posts. Here are some interesting facts to know more about this “Taiwan That You Love” star:

1. He’s also an avid fan of the hit “Meteor Garden” series.

Stephen eagerly shares that—like the rest of us—he grew up with the popular F4 series. “I watched it in high school, and that was one of the things that influenced me to go for acting,” says the Taiwanese actor. He even relates to the character of Hua Ze Lei, claiming he is also ‘the quiet one’ who jokes around with people he chooses to open up to.

2. Like most Filipinos, he loves Jollibee.

“I love it! That was the first thing I told them I wanted to eat when I got here. They got me the box with everything,” he excitedly declares. When it comes to Taiwanese food, however, he has a hard time choosing a favorite dish or delicacy, but would totally recommend a comforting bowl of beef noodle soup.

3. He’s single.

Yep, you read that right. Good-looking and physically fit as he is, the Taiwanese cutie isn’t seeing anyone right now. Stephen openly shared that he finds Filipinas attractive. If he were to date one, he claimed that he would probably bring her to Taiwan’s night market or explore the beautiful beaches in Cebu. With his singing chops, he would most likely be serenading the lucky girl with songs from his favorite artists such as Ed Sheeran and Katy Perry.

4. He’s an all-around multi-talented guy but was supposed to be a dentist.

The now actor, singer-songwriter, DJ, model, and the host was born in Virginia, United States, and was a Biology major back in college. But after one wakeup call, he flew to Taiwan by himself and started joining singing competitions. He admits he wasn’t great at it at first, but started getting better and was then offered hosting and acting jobs. Once, he was even challenged in a stage play by performing 18 different characters.

5. He experienced tragedy before realizing he wanted to start acting.

At 19, in his third year of college, Stephen lost a friend to the Virginia Tech shooting. “Because one of my friends was the first one to go… I realized that there are a lot of things that I wanted to do. After his passing, I kind of woke up and decided that I wanted to try entertainment. That’s why I flew to Taiwan by myself and try from scratch to try to find myself in an artistic way,” shares Stephen.

6. He was initially nervous about #PauBie shippers.

Stephen knew he was coming in as another element in Barbie and Paulo’s relationship in the digital series and didn’t want PauBie shippers to hate him. But when he finally met the two, he found himself bonding with them during their eight-day shoot in Taiwan. He only has good things to say about his co-stars, who, he shares, were really helpful and extremely easy to work with.

7. He wants to star in a horror movie.

He doesn’t want to be the last survivor though. “I really want to be the second to the last person who dies. That person doesn’t live, but he sacrifices himself for that last person,” he explains. He also wants to try out Kung Fu movies, as “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” was his favorite movie growing up.

Sharing the 7 Reasons Why iWant’s Psycho-Horror Movie “ABANDONED” is Worth A Kwento

10:57:00 AM

Okay, it's October already and we all know what happens before the end of the month. So if you're in and ready to get spooked? Well, here's one that will turn your dreams into nightmares?

You can watch this at home and save the horror and dreaded traffic in the metro. Plus you can even save some for the rainy days. What's good is that you can enjoy the movie under the cuddle weather, with just a tap or a click on your phones and gadgets at home, you get a full movie experience with iWant’s chilling story of a mother and a son trapped in a life of haunting spirits in the psycho-horror movie “Abandoned,” an iWant original movie that you can stream for free! Flip the switch off and grab bae for this one. It’s gonna be a frightening ride.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

Here are seven reasons why “Abandoned” deserves your time and attention:

1. Its short running time For only an hour and 15 minutes, viewers get to witness a story of love and resilience in a horror setting in the Kip Oebanda film where dedicated mother and son look out for each other in the midst of bullies, evil spirits, lurking shadows of the past. Set in an eerie location where one should roam at midnight and 3 in the morning alone, get ready to get spooked with disturbing scenes and ending that will leave you bewildered. Ready your blanket. Expect jumpscares.

2. Beauty takes on her first horror role From her kindhearted mother roles, Beauty expands her acting repertoire as she plays the complex Simone, the single mother of RJ (played by Seth) who is struggling to find a job after a traumatic experience during her previous one. Simone is a far cry from the glamorous Romina Mondragon as Beauty portrays a dedicated yet mentally unstable woman, plagued by the ghosts of an old building.

3. It’s Seth’s first movie project Without his Gold Squad co-members by his side, Seth can stand on his own and is ready to prove his place in the industry with his first movie and leading role. Seth’s RJ in “Abandoned” is amusing and mischievous, adding a charming layer to the otherwise chilling film that draws its scares from unresolved personal traumas.

4. Its symbolisms make it not your typical white lady horror movie The title itself gives meaning to a lot of scenes in the movie. “Abandoned” isn’t just about the haunted building and its supernatural elements, but how her spooky workplace provokes Simone’s deepest and darkest fear – abandonment – which she has dealt with all her life.

5. It depicts how patriarchy trumps women on a daily basis. Simone’s predicament starts when her boss Soliman (another symbolism) “handpicks” her for the unusual job, and all the while their security firm’s logo represents manhood and the fires of hell. Her cocky colleague Renante won’t trade shifts with her, and a loan shark tries to take advantage of her financial instability.

It is also revealed that Simone’s father originally wanted a son, thus, her untypical name and painful childhood.

6. It shows how a mother’s love overcomes all difficulties. Simone’s ex-husband was also a domestic abuser, causing her to leave and raise RJ The film shows a mother’s unconditional love for her son—from borrowing money, looking for jobs she’s incapable of, throwing a birthday celebration, warding off evil spirits, and even literally sacrificing herself in place of her son. A mother’s love never yields.

7. It encourages us to check up on our own moms. Our moms always look like they got it all together, but who takes care of them when they have no one to run to? In the movie, RJ reveals he has been skipping school to secretly help his mom financially by buying and selling things online and even defending her name from bullies in school. It was RJ all along that kept her going. Looking back, he always has been Simone’s source of strength. And although our mothers seem like they can handle everything, it wouldn’t hurt to check up on them and give them a warm hug every once in a while.
