ABS-CBN’S ‘A MOTHER’S GUILT” Is The First Turkish Adaptation of a Filipino Series Premieres on Kanal D

9:34:00 AM

Few things came to mind when heard about Turkey, one is the animal, two is the sweets, three is the historical facts about the country being in two continent, and lastly Ruffa Gutierrez. Well, the last one is about her ex-husband. Anyway I mentioned Turkey and some facts about it because the network with great teleseryes, ABS-CBN, is leveling up their game in the entertainment industry. Yes, one of the TV series or teleserye of ABS-CBN is now being globally adapted and is being shown in this Turkish network named Kanal D.

ABS-CBN brings honor to the country anew as its teleserye “Hanggang Saan” is the first Filipino series to be adapted in Turkey as “A Mother’s Guilt,” which is set to premiere on Fox Turkey this November 21, (Saturday) at 8 pm on KANAL D, the broadcaster of top selling Turkish series worldwide.

“A Mother’s Guilt is a feat not only for ABS-CBN but for the country as well, as it becomes the first original Philippine series to be greenlit for adaptation on Turkish television. It is a testament to the company’s dedication to creating stories that resonate universally,” said Macie Imperial, ABS-CBN International Distribution head.

The series follows the story of a single mother whose guilt haunts her throughout her life after agreeing to a gruesome deal – kill a man in exchange for money to pay hospital bills that would save her son’s life.

Co-produced by ABS-CBN and leading Turkish production company Limon Yapim, the weekly Turkish series star Özge Özberk as Suna (mother) and Mert Yazıcıoğlu as Yusuf (son), both well-known and successful talents in Turkey.

ABS-CBN continues to bring its hit and acclaimed programs to audiences worldwide. Starting this year, more of the company’s hit titles will be seen in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Expanding and creating big, ABS-CBN's Star Hunt is growing its pool of talents. From discovering and developing promising Filipino talents on-camera, now its moving to expand its pool of talents including off-camera creatives. It will start by representing and managing the careers of these three seasoned television and film directors.

So, basically Star Hunt will have a complete pool of talents from acting up to having people behind the scene. Who are these seasoned directors? Well, here they are:

Star Hunt’s new talents include award-winning director Ted Boborol, who directed blockbuster movies such as “Vince and Kath and James,” “Finally Found Someone,” “Just The Way You Are,” “James and Pat and Dave,” and the 2019 Cinemalaya’s “Iska,” which participated in different film festivals around the world.

Boborol has also directed ABS-CBN teleseryes “Angelito: Batang Ama,” “Annaliza,” and the 2016 Catholic Mass Media Awards' Best Drama Series “Be My Lady.” Aside from his TV and film work, Boborol was also named the National Winner for Best Directing (Fiction) at the 2018 Asian Academy Creative Awards for the teleserye “Araw Gabi.”

Director Jon Moll, meanwhile, successfully translated the elements of international franchises “MasterChef Pinoy Edition,” “I Can See Your Voice,” “World of Dance Philippines,” The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition,” and “Little Big Shots” for Filipino audiences.

Moll also directed and helped in the conceptualization of ABS-CBN’s original talent and reality programs “Your Moment,” “I Dare You,” “The Kids Choice,” “I Love OPM,” “Hado Pilipinas,” the live shows of “Pinoy Big Brother,” and served as the creative director of ABS-CBN’s Studio Experience who transformed program concepts into engaging and interactive attractions.

Star Hunt also signed one of ABS-CBN’s veteran creatives Jillmer Dy, who has occupied directing, writing, and producing roles in various programs since 1991 such as “Gimik,” 'Sang Linggo nAPO Sila,” “The Buzz,” “ASAP,” “Ipaglaban Mo,” “MMK,” “Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita,” “It’s Showtime,” and many others.

He also served as ABS-CBN’s head of international production and co-production for four years after heading Channel 2’s programming operations and overseeing the development of the network’s existing and proposed content from 2010 to 2016.

Launched as ABS-CBN’s grand audition program in 2018, Star Hunt has discovered and developed Filipino talents that became a part of various ABS-CBN talent and reality shows and gave opportunities to them to appear in ABS-CBN’s different platforms, whether it is on television, radio, online, movies, or music.

Recently, it launched its virtual talent competition “Bida Star,” which seeks to discover its first Ultimate Bida Star who will win a cash prize and the opportunity to star in their own short feature alongside a Kapamilya artist.

Mayors Express Gratitude to ABS-CBN’S “PANTAWID NG PAG-IBIG”

12:34:00 PM

Local government units (LGUs) found it challenging to quickly provide relief to families affected by the quarantine. That is why several mayors in Metro Manila and nearby provinces have expressed their gratitude to companies that served as their partners at this time, including ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Foundation’s “Pantawid ng Pag-ibig.”

“Private and public partnerships like what ABS-CBN does is a big help. We don’t know when this pandemic is going to end and the government can’t do it alone. In a month, we have plenty of families to feed,” Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian said in an interview with "TV Patrol."

Because of the quarantine extension, the funds of LGUs have been greatly affected, which is why mayors think of “Pantawid ng Pag-ibig” as an answer to their problems.

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto Rubiano said, “we have a budget, but it is not enough that is why we are so thankful. This is a great project of ABS-CBN because it can really help the local government extend its budget.”

As for Maragondon, Cavite Mayor Reynaldo Rillo, ABS-CBN’s simple act of giving relief packs is a way to show love and concern for Filipinos. “I am thankful to everyone who extended their help, to all those who showered us with love by giving us relief goods.”

Malolos, Bulacan Mayor Gilbert Gatchalian also said ABS-CBN made Filipino families felt that they are not alone in battling the COVID-19 pandemic. He said, “thank you ABS-CBN for your ‘Pantawid ng Pag-ibig’ program that made our kababayans feel like they are not alone in this battle.”

Meanwhile, donations to the network’s “Pantawid ng Pag-ibig” program has reached P409,721,248 million. The funds raised are used to purchase food and basic necessities that are brought to the LGUs for repacking and distribution to their constituents. ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Foundation are thankful to the leaders of Caloocan, Las Piñas, Malabon, Makati, Mandaluyong, Manila, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, Pateros, Quezon City, San Juan, Taguig, Valenzuela, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal for their trust and support for “Pantawid ng Pag-Ibig.”

Despite the crises we are facing, ABS-CBN will never get tired of serving Filipino families. ABS-CBN Foundation will continue to accept cash and in-kind donations as it continues to help provide food and basic necessities to Filipinos most affected by the global pandemic. People may donate via ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc.-Sagip Kapamilya bank accounts: BPI peso account 3051-11-55-88, Metrobank peso account 636-3-636-08808-1, PNB peso account 1263-7000-4128, BDO peso account 0039301-14199, at BDO dollar account 1039300-81622. They may also course donations through Cebuana Lhuillier, PayPal, Pass it Forward, and GCash.

ABS-CBN is stunned by the accusations raised while Congress was deliberating on House Bill 6732 – a proposal to grant a provisional franchise to ABS-CBN. The accusations have been asked and answered under oath by various government agencies as well as by ABS-CBN executives at the senate hearing last February 24.

In that hearing, the SEC, NTC, and BIR have all testified that ABS-CBN had no violations as it relates to their specific agency. DOLE Sec. Silvestre Bello also said in an interview that ABS-CBN is fully compliant of labor standards. While ABS-CBN acknowledged that there remain pending cases including those in court, ABS-CBN will abide by the decisions of the relevant authorities as decisions on these cases are made. Accusations as to the citizenship of Mr. Gabby Lopez were also answered under oath at the Senate. Finally, ABS-CBN has acknowledged the efforts of Congress in resolving their franchise application by issuing a statement of gratitude to Congress which was issued on May 13, 2020 – the same day that the bill was introduced in Congress.

The accusations were made without any evidence submitted and authenticated, and without the ability for ABS-CBN to reply. We assure our public and our employees that ABS-CBN will reply to these accusations in the proper forum.
