SEEK Asia Launches Let’s Get To Work To Empower Job Seekers After "Great Resignation"

6:49:00 AM

SINGAPORE, 19 November 2021 — Today, SEEK Asia, the parent company of leading jobs platforms JobStreet and JobsDB, and with investments in JobKorea and BDJobs (Bangladesh), announces the launch of its new omni-channel campaign aimed at getting job seekers, and especially first jobbers, to work. This comes after the pandemic caused unemployment rates to skyrocket to an estimated 81 million in Asia, with many still unable to secure a job. The pandemic has also changed people’s attitudes towards their jobs, with many re-evaluating where and how they want to work and the kind of work they want to do. This has led to the emerging trend known as the “Great Resignation”, a term coined by associate professor of management at Texas A&M University Anthony Klotz, which explains why even experienced job seekers are choosing to leave their current careers in the search of something more meaningful.

Aptly titled “Let’s Get To Work”, SEEK Asia’s latest campaign will be rolled out in its six key markets from today, running across digital, out-of-home (OOH) advertising, social media, and PR. Let’s Get To Work is a continuation of SEEK Asia’s brand evolution that began in late 2020, and will focus its messaging on empowering job seekers to go after careers they are passionate about. The campaign also indicates an ongoing strategic business shift, positioning JobStreet and JobsDB as not just a jobs platform, but also as a career and talent partner for both job seekers and hirers, respectively.

The fully integrated marketing campaign is helmed by leading global marketing company McCann Worldgroup and will see adaptations of the regional campaign across microsites, campaign films in each of the six local languages, and in-market activations. McCann will work alongside Think Tank’s multi-award-winning director Adrian Calumpang. Calumpang is a creative force with a long list of clients such as The Coca-Cola Company, Heineken, Nestle, Nike, and Unilever — to name a few. His style is typically sought after because of the way he portrays youth culture; elements that can be seen through the high-energy aesthetic of the Let’s Get To Work brand films.

Jane Cruz-Walker, Chief Marketing Officer at SEEK Asia, said: “While the pandemic has caused widespread job loss, reduced working hours, and pay cuts, it has also caused many to re-evaluate what they want out of their career. Job seekers’ demands have evolved beyond remuneration — they want a sense of fulfilment, good work-life balance, and career progression — and it is time for companies to adapt to this new world of work. This is why SEEK Asia is launching Let’s Get To Work: to motivate job seekers to pursue the jobs they love! By providing job seekers with opportunities to find jobs that they are passionate about, we want to be the career partner that will inspire the next generation of workers and empower them to be the heroes in their own career journey!”

Focusing on the hyperlocal nature of the job market, Let’s Get To Work will also feature influencers and key opinion leaders will be used across the region — including Singaporean actress Sharon Au, Malaysian stand-up comedian Harith Iskander, Indonesian vlogger Gerry Girianza, Filipino actor and chef Marvin Agustin, Thai musician Manassavee, and Hong Kong fitness entrepreneur Charlz Ng.
v In the Philippines, leading online job portal JobStreet will be bringing this exciting campaign to life with over 10 local influencers and key opinion leaders from different professions and industries, who will be sharing career advice from their own experiences to motivate and empower jobseekers. This holistic campaign can be accessed in a variety of channels, including a microsite with a range of stories, videos, tips, and advice to guide and inspire candidates on their ‘Let’s Get to Work’ journey.
v “It has been a tough couple of years for Filipino jobseekers and I’m sure many are looking for a new career direction or a fresh perspective on what they really want from their jobs. Our campaign is here to help restore their passion for work and encourage them to push through these present challenges, so they could look forward to next year with a renewed sense of purpose in their career,” shared JobStreet Philippines Country Manager Philip Gioca.

With over 13 million candidates and 75,000 job vacancies in the country, JobStreet remains committed to empowering the job market amidst the pandemic through continued efforts such as nationwide virtual career fairs and access to various online career tools.

In 2022, SEEK Asia will also be launching the Biggest Tech Career Fair in Asia, which aims to accelerate digital transformation efforts by providing more opportunities for job seekers to secure roles in companies driven by technology. As the biggest career fair in the region, SEEK Asia will aim to match thousands of tech job opportunities to hundreds of thousands of candidates.

Peter Bithos, CEO of SEEK Asia, said: “SEEK Asia is the biggest and most trusted jobs board in Southeast Asia. Our ambition is to grow fourfold in the next five years and to expand our platform beyond what people have come to know and love us for today. We are strengthening our existing business by making big investments in people, innovation, and technology. Through Let’s Get To Work, we will be able to better engage with and inspire job seekers to find jobs that are meaningful to them. With our appeal to job seekers, this will also allow us to get more employers on the platform looking for quality talent, allowing an explosion of opportunities. Let’s Get To Work is an integral part of SEEK Asia’s commitment to job seekers and employers, and this is just the beginning of our exciting developments and plans.”

For those fans of Marvin Agustin and of course those who loved the foods on his restaurants, here's something that would make you proud of him. Famed not only in the entertainment industry, now in the food industry as well. Here's the details of him being named as Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

When restaurateur Marvin Agustin was included in the list of the 17 finalists for Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year awards, the actor-turned- entrepreneur never imagined that he will bag one of the five awards during the recently-concluded Awards Banquet held at the Makati Shangrila Hotel.

“I really did not expect that I’d bring home an award,” says Marvin. “I am with such distinguished roster of respected people in the industry, people whom I really look up to, so I really didn’t think that I will bring home an award.”

Marvin admitted that he thought, out of the 14 finalists, only one will be declared winner. This is the reason why Marvin never really expected to win.

Unknown to Marvin, however, a Young Entrepreneur of the Year award will be given and luckily, the actor-entrepreneur got the distinction.

Marvin was joined by his mom during the said ceremonies.

He adds that his mom was more excited than him.

Marvin shared that a night before the banquet his mom, while reading the Bible, was asking for a sign if her son will win the recognition. Then, she chanced on a passage implying that since she has not wished for quite a while, the desires of her heart will be given to her.

So Marvin’s mom Teresa told him that he might win during the day of the event.

“I am really blessed that my mother supports everything that I do and she is super proud of my achievements,” shares Marvin. “She will always be my inspiration.”

Asked to differentiate receiving acting awards from the Young EOY commendation, Marvin quips, “when you win acting awards, it is inspiring because peers approve of your work. But here in the EOY, it is inspiring because of what it symbolizes – the recognition of the hard work you’ve put in to make your employees and their families survive.”

Marvin noted how National Bookstore founder Socorro Ramos approached him and said, “You have a beautiful story. Keep inspiring the youth.”

This recognition, according to Marvin, simply proves that with hard work, dedication, and determination, dreams really do come true.

Marvin was joined by manager and friend Annabelle Regalado-Borja, and business partners Raymund Magdaluyo and Ricky Laudico.

Marvin Agustin has been out of the quiet on the big screen for quite some time and it's for sure that his fans are pretty thrilled to see him act again on the big screen. The movie is directed by Wenn V. Deramas entitled Moron 5 and the Crying Lady under Viva Films and MVP Pictures.

Half-witted longtime friends Albert (Luis), Isaac (Billy), Mozart "Mo" (DJ), Michaelangelo "Mike" (Martin) and Aristotle "Aris" (Marvin Agustin) were used to living moronic yet pretty normal and hassle-free lives until successful careerwoman Becky Pamintuan (John Lapus) accused them of killing her father and ruin everything for them. The Moron 5 are more than sure of their innocence but the life of them, they cannot find a single satisfactory argument on how to prove it especially when their opponent would do everything to punish them for whim.

Spending three miserable years in prison trying different failed comedic attempts to get out, they finally figured a way to escape. They stalked Becky and try to understand why she is fighting so hard to have them imprisoned when it's clear as day that what happened three years ago was a nonsense frame-up.

An opportunity came when Becky's driver got fired for having an affair with her maid and Albert volunteered to apply to replace him. He infiltrated the Pamintuan Residence and together with this four crazily daft friends, they've gathered information about the curious family yet to them, Becky's unexplained hatred for them it isn't making any sense at all.

Why is Becky fighting so hard to have them suffer? The Moron 5 will try their hardest to know and hopefully understand what's really going on although little did they know that by doing so, everything that they hold dear might be at risk.

Have You Seen Marvin Agustin Goes Door-to-Door With Knorr?

6:18:00 PM

Marvin Agustin’s journey to what he is today—a successful chef and restaurateur—is so inspiring that it became the cornerstone of his latest endorsement for Knorr Cubes.

Marvin recently signed on to become the new brand ambassador for Knorr Cubes, the favorite partner of people like him who are passionate about food and cooking. As such, he is also the new face behind Knorr Cubes’ “Door to door Sabaw Challenge” in which he will be visiting different cities all over the Philippines, challenging cooks to identify which is the better, more ma-karne and better-tasting sabaw: the one made with Knorr Cubes, or not?

During the challenge, Marvin will present two versions of sabaw, one made with granules and the other, made with Knorr cubes. Marvin believes so much in the product’s claims to deliver the meatiest taste and flavor that he throws in a promise to give up cooking if they end up choosing the sabaw that’s not made of Knorr cubes—and everyone knows how passionate Marvin is about cooking, so for him to promise that is a big deal.

Among the locations Marvin will visit are Laguna, Iloilo, and Metro Manila. There will be a series of 30-seconder commercials featuring Marvin engaging cooks and housewives to take part in the challenge.

“That’s really what it’s about: Marvin being confident about the product so much that he’s willing to give up his passion for cooking just to prove a point, which is that Knorr cubes is the meatiest out of all the cooking aids in the Philippines,” says Monica Rios, brand manager of Knorr for Unilever Philippines, which is spearheading the Door-to-door challenge.

Marvin grew up in a household where cooking was a passion. Their apartment was small, and from the living room, one could sit and smell what was being cooked in the kitchen.

His mother loved to cook Filipino dishes. “Mahilig kami sa sabaw. Mahilig kami sa sinigang, mahilig kami sa nilaga. Every meal, kailangan laging may sabaw. Sabaw at kanin,” recalls Marvin. “At we really used Knorr cubes. Kahit pinakbet, nilalagyan ng Knorr shrimp na cubes.”

As a teenager, Marvin worked as a waiter, and later, became a mascot for a popular fastfood chain. From there, he worked his way up, became a popular actor and re-invented himself into a successful businessman with a chain of restaurants that includes Sumo Sam, Oyster Boy, Marciano’s, Komrad, John and Yoko and Mr. Kurosawa.

This is what inspired Unilever to choose him to be the latest endorser of Knorr Cubes.

Says Rios: “It’s a nice success story to hear, that he started out as a waiter, and even worked as a mascot for a while. He has proven that he can rise above all the challenges in life. Now he’s a chef and a restaurateur. It’s very inspiring, the way he was able to achieve everything…maypassion siya, and he just really went for it. So it’s a nice feeling for him to be endorsing the product.”

Marvin feels honored to be chosen to join Knorr’s family of chefs. “When I first learned about it (endorsement), sabi ko, everyone knows that I really love cooking. I love cooking for my friends and my family, and Knorr cubes is really what we use for soup. So napakasaya at family-orientedang pino-promote namin na brand.”
