Winwyn Marquez to Play the Intriguing Character of Nelia

11:32:00 PM

A story created more than decades ago will be immortalized in this upcoming movie from A and Q Productions Film, Inc. The lucky actress who will portray the role is one of the actresses in the Kapuso Network, Winwyn Marquez. Just like Winwyn, the film Nelia will be an unpredictable story that will showcase mystery for its audience. It is something that the storyteller would like for the viewers to experience, the idea of exercising your mind into solving its mystery.

So, what story lies behind the name of Nelia? Well, for now, it is still a mystery as they just started filming the movie in a location somewhere in the central region of Luzon. All are taking precautions in doing this film as we all need to, because of the pandemic.

The tale of Nelia is actually a product of the creative mind of its writer and producer, none other than Atty. Melanie "Honey" Quiño. According to her, the story's premise was when she was still in college. To make the story relevant, Film Director Lester Dimaranan was tapped in adding flavor to the film. Making it more fascinating and mindboggling.

Here's a part of Atty. Honey's description about the movie Nelia, "...has so many twists hindi sya agad agad na predictable... it will give excitement sa mga viewers because ang tema ng story na ito... is not usual that we seen na love story, there's one, it will parang insight or insight sa mind ng mga tao makakapag-isip sila ng mas malalim sa movie na ito para malaman nila yong ending."

"Nelia" will become a name to remember, not only because of its characters portrayed by great actors but because of its relevance, a time when mental illness is prevalent because of the Covid-19 scare.

The story of Nelia will not be complete without its impressive cast of Pinoy actors that include Mon Confiado, Dexter Doria, Lloyd Samartino, Vin Abrenica, Ali Forbes, Shido Roxas, and Raymond Bagatsing as Dr. Rey. Produced by the power tandem of A and Q Productions Film, Inc., Atty. Aldwin F. Alegre and Atty. Mary Melanie H. Quiño.

Expect to be startled by "NELIA!"

The Movie "Dito at Doon" Revels in an Extraordinary Event of Life

2:43:00 AM

Fascinating stories are mostly moving because of certain aspects of life, stories that touch the hearts and emotions. It fills the void of what the viewers are expecting from a movie or film. This upcoming movie, "Dito at Doon" by Director JP Habac, shows a unique plot, a relatable and timely event in our lives. Yes, the story of "Dito at Doon," based on its synopsis, revels in the extraordinary love story that perhaps will only happen every 100 years.

Sounds intriguing that it will only happen every 100 years. That is probably because of the fact from history that a pandemic usually occurs every centennial. And the fact that the love story, perse, happened at the time of the pandemic. It becomes even more charming because of the story, given the unusual situation.

TBA Studio's boss, Vincent Nebrida announced during the bloggers' conference of "Dito at Doon" that it will be one of the first films to be seen on the big screen after a year this coming March 17! Aside from this news, the said film will also be streaming on March 31 via ktx.ph and tf.tv.

If you have seen the movie "I'm Drunk I Love You," the film "Dito at Doon" will give a new perspective about lockdown romance. Stars of "Dito at Doon" are JC Santos, Janine Gutierrez, Yesh Burce, and Victor Anastacio.

In the film "Dito at Doon," based on Direk JP Habac few bits of info are taken from the premise of what happened to us in the past year, especially at the height of the pandemic lockdown. With mixed emotions, people are vulnerable, like in the case of the characters Len and Caloy.

Being locked inside the houses with nothing to do but with lots of worries and uncertainties, it is hard to be sane. For Len and Caloy, their growing love story is more than a long-distance affair but a struggling romance with so many barriers. So near yet so far because of the quarantine and lockdown plus the decisions and choices they make.

Let us all catch the movie and see what will be the final decision of Len!

Award-winning film YELLOW ROSE premieres in the Philippines this January 29

11:36:00 PM

The world gets a chance to witness a timely story of pursuing one’s passion despite struggles as Star Cinema brings the film ‘Yellow Rose’ to various streaming platforms this January 29 following its festival route.

Starring Grammy®-winner and two-time Tony Award® nominee Eva Noblezada, award-winning country music artist Dale Watson, local icon Princess Punzalan and Tony Award®-winner and Grammy®-nominee Lea Salonga, the film revolves around a Filipina teen from a small Texas town who fights to pursue her dreams as a country music performer while having to decide between staying with her family or leaving the only home she has known.

Written and directed by Diane Paragas, ‘Yellow Rose,’ her first ever narrative feature-length film, is said to be a love letter to country music unlike anything audiences have seen before. It is a testament to the power of song to provide hope and unity when we need it the most.

While the film marks her first feature film role, Noblezada’s exciting big-screen pairing with fellow Broadway powerhouse Salonga has been much anticipated. The two have shared uncanny similarities in their careers. Both earned their big breaks in the lead role of Kim in the stage musical Miss Saigon, and both later went on to play the role of Éponine in Les Misérables.

The film also serves as one of the first major studio releases to address the Filipino immigration experience in America and to provide a glimpse into some of the painful and difficult choices that families in that community often have to make. In fact, it has already bagged thirteen film festival jury and audience awards, including several at festivals dedicated to advancing representation and inclusivity for the Asian community in film.

Catch the Philippine premiere of ‘Yellow Rose’ on January 29 via KTX.ph, iWant TFC, Sky Cable pay-per-view and Cignalpay-per-view for only PHp150.00 per ticket. This is distributed by Cinexpress.

Miko Pasamonte, All Out and Bares It All in "Anak Ng Macho Dancer"

1:21:00 AM

Judge it or not, but this actor is all-in and bares it all! As in no hold bars! The new male sex symbol and yes, Miko Pasamonte is one of the stars in the upcoming movie "Anak ng Macho Dancers," which has no breaks in what he shares during the online conference. Aside from sharing his role in the film, he also shared some fascinating stories of his life during the quarantine period. According to him, he is very grateful for all the blessings that come into his life.

During the virtual conference, Miko bravely disclosed some information regarding his involvement in the movie. With a little bit of disappointment, he provided information about his removal as the lead role and, instead, was given a supporting role. Which he openly accepts and still thankful for the talent fee plus the perks given to him.

Yon pala ginawa akong contrabida."

Also, he shared what he has experienced during the lockdown period, all his ups and downs, and even the nitty-gritty things that he does.

Today, there are plenty of issues in our society that need to be solved. Some things are simple, and some things are difficult to handle. One of these is poverty, and because of this situation, people tend to lean on being a macho dancer or entertainer. Knowing that they need to expose parts of their bodies to provide food for the families.

The upcoming film "Anak ng Macho Dancers" is a movie that will give a better view or clear insight into how people live in this industry.

The expected release date of the film will be this January 2021. This a film by Joel Lamangan and this is the much-awaited sequel to Lino Brocka's 1988 hit film.

January 1, 2021, the very first day of the year and the screening date of the movie "Princess DayaReese" where Chie Filomeno is one of the casts, faced the New Year with an accident in the family.

After the celebrity screening of the movie "Princess DayaReese" a virtual blogcon was held to address some of the inquiries of the bloggers. During the conference, it can be noticed in the first part of the conference that Chie turned off her camera and later on she opens the cam and interrupted by mentioning that something happened at their house then she left the zoom meeting. This made everyone felt worried and uneasy, most especially Maymay.

During the conference, a few of the cast were really worried and some of them could focus much on the conference. When the conference was finally over, Maymay, shared about the accident that happened with Chie's family. Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim Ng Bandanang Itim Takes Its Adventure This Christmas Day

6:54:00 PM

If you've missed the square mustache and the red polka dot bandana, well, don't worry because they are back. It is definitely going to be the most awesome comeback of the year which will happen this Christmas Day, December 25 in ‘Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim,’ an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2020.

From the success of its prequel ‘Mang Kepweng Returns’ in 2017, Vhong Navarro as Mang Kepweng takes on a new journey and challenges as villain Maximus Tolonges (played by Joross Gamboa) uses the power of the black bandana he stole from the kingdom of Engkadia to sow terror all over the place.

While only Mang Kepweng and his red polka dot bandana, the counterpart of the black bandana, can stop Maximus, the magic of the red polka dot bandana slowly diminishes due to his worsening attitude—he becomes boastful as he gets people’s attention because of his healing power. With the help of his new friends, Mang Kepweng finds the three ingredients that will bring back the power of his bandana but the journey becomes harder as they encounter the elements that try to stop them.

Will it be too late to realize that having such great power should come with great responsibility and humility? Will Mang Kepweng still be able to save the kingdom of Engkadia and the people from Maximus?

Directed by Topel Lee, ‘Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim’ is a collaboration project between Cineko Productions and Star Cinema.

Completing the cast of the Pinoy fantasy horror-comedy film are Fumiya Sankai, Yamyam Gucong, Lotlot de Leon, Margo Midwinter, Alora Sasam, Rubi Rubi, Chad Kinis, Petite, Caloy Alde, Nikko Natividad, Lou Veloso, Mariko Ledesma, Kaladkaren, Patricia Roxas, Ritz Azul, Ion Perez, Ryan Bang, Benjie Paras, Barbie Imperial, and Ms. Jaclyn Jose.

It should be noted that ‘Mang Kepweng’ is a character that was popularized by the late comedian Chiquito in 1970’s to early 80’s. In previous interviews, Vhong expressed how proud he is to reprise the classic role.

“Isang karangalan na bigyang-buhay muli ang isa sa mga pinakasikat na karakter na ginampanan ni Papang (Chiquito),” he stated. “Sobrang proud ko dito.”

It’s time to unleash the ‘Mang Kepweng’ in every one of us this holiday season as ‘Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim’ streams on http://upstream.ph beginning on December 25, Christmas Day. Using your GMovies account, tickets can be purchased as early as now on the site for only Php 250.00 each.

Fan Girl is MMFF 2020 Talk About Film?

8:51:00 PM

If you had one night with your idol, are you ready for the most memorable day of your life?

The story follows Jane (Charlie Dizon), Paulo Avelino’s biggest fan girl. Her obsession with Paulo Avelino (Paulo Avelino plays as himself) leads her to hide at the back of his pick-up truck and follow him “home”. She ends up in an unfamiliar house in an unfamiliar place with an unfamiliar Paulo Avelino, the idol she thought she knew from head to foot, heart and soul.

Described by Asian Movie Pulse as “An intriguing piece of cinematic work” and “A bold look at fandom. An engaging if volatile performance” by the Hollywood Reporter, The whole world can finally watch this immersive and captivating film on December 25, 2020.

From it’s World Premiere as the lone Philippine entry at this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival and its European Premiere in Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, FAN GIRL is finally home and is part of the 10 film entries at this year’s MMFF.

Known for his memorable portrayal of characters in the films, I’m Drunk, I Love You, Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral and MMFF 2017’s Best Picture, Ang Larawan, the versatile and well-loved actor, Paulo Avelino, is set to take on another character but this time, he plays as himself.

Avelino from Star Magic is paired with an emerging young actress, Charlie Dizon from Rise Artists Studio and Star Magic.

Dizon landed her first lead role in Fan Girl as she was chosen among 600 other aspiring young ladies from all over Metro Manila who auditioned for the role. Since then, Charlie Dizon together with Paulo Avelino went through a series of character and scene studies to prepare them for their respective characters.

And indeed it bore fruits of labor as Paulo Avelino and Charlie Dizon’s tour de force performance for the film was commended by The Hollywood Reporter-- “Also remarkable is the decisiveness with which Filipino star Paulo Avelino, who plays himself, puts his name and body on the line. It is nonetheless an engaging if volatile performance”

“Played with great naturalness by Charlie Dizon. Jane initially comes across as a bird-brain victimized by her own fantasies. As the saying goes, beware of asking the gods for favors; you might get what you wish for”

A household name for romantic comedy films and series such as That Thing Called Tadhana, Alone/Together, Never Not Love You and On The Wings of Love, Antoinette Jadaone takes us this time to the world of fandoms and fantasies. Known for her well-written screenplays and distinct directorial style, Jadaone presents a fresh take on the obsession of Filipinos with love and love teams.

“The rawness with which the story develops and its far from happy conclusions stand out in the career of Jadaone.”--The Hollywood Reporter.

We may all be celebrating a different Christmas this year but nothing can stop the tradition of every Filipino as MMFF goes all out and all digital this year. The ten films for this year’s edition will be available worldwide and exclusively via UPSTREAM.ph for only 250 pesos.

As early as December 7, 2020, you can book your movie tickets in advance via bit.ly/WatchFanGirl and starting December 25, 2020 to January 7, 2021, our fantasies will become a reality as Fan Girl is finally home for the holidays!

Get To Know More the lives of Salazar sisters 10 years back in ‘Four Sisters Before The Wedding’

1:05:00 AM

The characters of Teddie, Bobbie, Alex, and Gabbie have given us a story where each one of us can relate to their characters and personalities. Different traits and struggles in life. Now, the four are back but this time way younger and probably the time of them discovering their selves. Star Cinema takes us back to the time when these iconic siblings deal with challenges and heartaches in this movie ‘Four Sisters Before The Wedding.’

Topbilled by today’s most promising young stars Alexa Ilacad (Bobbie), Charlie Dizon (Teddie), Gillian Vicencio (Alex) and Belle Mariano (Gabbie), ‘Four Sisters Before The Wedding’ is a prequel to the 2013-hit movie ‘Four Sisters and A Wedding.’

Helmed this time by blockbuster director Mae Cruz Alviar, the prequel movie is set 10 years before their lives in the original movie). Teddie, Bobbie, Alex are in college while Gabbie is in high-school, and their youngest sibling CJ (played by Clarence Delgado) is in elementary.

Their blissful innocence and family unity are tested when they discover that their parents – Mama Grace (this time played by Carmina Villarroel) and Papa Caloy (Dominic Ochoa), whom the audience will be meeting in this movie for the first time -- are once again on the verge of separation. They’ve grown up enough to know that a biscuit offering will not easily solve their parents’ marital problems this time around.

In the original movie, the Salazar sisters were portrayed by Bea Alonzo (Bobbie), Toni Gonzaga (Teddie), Angel Locsin (Alex) and Shaina Magdayao (Gabbie). The characters Mama Grace and CJ were notably played by Coney Reyes and Enchong Dee, respectively. The dad, meanwhile, passed before 2013—this eventually pushed Bobbie to live and work abroad. ‘Four Sisters and A Wedding’ was directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

‘Four Sisters Before The Wedding’ serves as Star Cinema’s early Christmas offering this 2020, despite the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. It was first announced in February.

“Kakayanin ko!” says Alexa when she was chosen to play the role of young Bobbie. The former child star has already appeared in several movies of ABS-CBN Films, including ‘Everything About Her’ in 2016, ‘Finally Found Someone’ in 2017, and ‘Open,’ a co-production of Black Sheep and T-rex Entertainment, in 2018. She has also portrayed remarkable characters in teleseryes like Justine in ‘The Good Son’ and Luna in ‘The Killer Bride.’

For Charlie, playing as young Teddie is “nakakakilig and nakaka-pressure at the same time.” The 24-year old actress has starred in several projects such as ‘Seven Sunday’, teleserye ‘Bagani,’ and the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival entry ‘Fan Girl,’ which recently made headlines as it entered Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan and Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia.

On playing young Alex, Gillian admits: “Masaya at kinikilig ako. Pero habang binabasa ko rin ‘yung script, kinakabahan din ako.” This is Gillian’s third movie with Star Cinema following ‘Eerie,’ wherein she portrayed the Eri the ghost, and ‘Hellcome Home.’ Both movies were shown in 2019. She has also starred in a couple of digital series such as ‘Kargo’ on iWant and Black Sheep’s ‘Hello Stranger,’ which is set to have a movie sequel.

“Very honored and at the same time, pressured, kasi napaka-iconic nung movie,” says Belle. Also a former child star, Belle has appeared in several movies of Star Cinema like ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ and ‘Love You To The Stars and Back’ in 2017, and ‘James and Pat and Dave’ last February.

In a virtual media conference recently held, the four stars were very bubbly and lively in interacting with some of the questions from the press media and bloggers. Seeing the trailer and knowing that these four have been through a lot of experience would definitely push through with the expectations of them playing the roles played by Toni, Bea, Angel, and Shaina. Joining the cast of ‘Four Sisters Before The Wedding’ are Irma Adlawan, Kakai Bautista, Cai Cortez, Jameson Blake, Joao Constancia, Pinky Amador, Minnie Aguilar, Boom Labrusca, Jenny Miller and introducing Jeremiah Lisbo and Gigi de Lana.

‘Four Sisters Before The Wedding’ streams worldwide beginning December 11 via KTX.ph (ktx.ph), iWantTFC (iwanttfc.com), TFC IPTV, Cignal PPV (my.cignal.tv), and Sky Cable pay-per-view (mysky.com.ph). This is distributed by CineXpress.
