Teen Azkals, Sustaining The Future of Philippine Football

9:12:00 AM

Recently, the fame and prestige of James and Phil Younghusband has grown very much in just a short span of time and same with the sudden uplift of interest of young blooded sports-minded kids into football.  It has truly become a sensation.  I'm not well versed with the names of the players but I know football since I was a kid and as far as I know the game kickball rooted from the football.  One more thing, when I was a kid and until I was a teenager I only watched their games on television.

Since the Philippine football team are becoming well known with their winnings, the team manager Mr. Alvin Caranza U17-19 aims to have a new breed of Teen Azkals that starts with good foundation that's why they are going to have the upcoming Teen Azkals National Football Selection which will be held in two locations, one in UP Diliman, Quezon City on July 7 and 8, 2012 which is for the NCR Selection and the other one is for the Philippine Team Selection on August 4-12, 2012 in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental Football Grounds.

So, for the moms, dads, relatives, schools and organizations if you know your kids or someone you know displays a strong interest in football please do encourage them to participate on the said selection venues.  It will for sure help them a lot and help the country as well.

During the blogger's night in Cafe Lupe, Antipolo speakers shares their talk and insights about football and road safety.

Manager Mr. Alvin Carranza said that supporting the age group will keep the momentum forward.  He also bring forth his vast influence and business networks to make this league exciting and successful.

One of the speaker Mr Ebong Joson of the Philippine Football Federation coach talks about the European Culture and Football Management.  He also disclosed that Panaad is one of the best place for Football Tournament with regards to security, venue and capacity.  He then explained the great difference between height and skills and the culture and language of football.

Coach Cleng Cacacho who coaches for an International School talks about more local exposure and more games in the local level.  He pinpoints that with Europeans they got many clubs and games.  He further explains the difference of a women's team and men's team.  Women's team requires a certain level of training and pampering.

Mr. Atoy Sta. Cruz also made a simple talk about advocating road safety and he explains the issue regarding motorists having an early warning device place or in tact in all vehicles which is needed when having a car problem.

After the talks the much awaited raffle was conducted.  An all expense Tagaytay and Taal trip won by Carlo Camilo Valenzona and Ms. Grace Nicolas' daughter while the all expense Trip to Bacolod won bby Florencio Jusay and Dennison Uy.

The Temper Trap’s Sweet Success

9:26:00 PM

Another few updates in the music industry.  I do hope you'll to read this about the Temper Trap.

Press Release
“Sweet disposition… never too soon…,” croons The Temper Trap lead vocalist Dougy Mandagi in a memorable scene from the 2009 film, “500 Days of Summer”. The Temper Trap achieved a sweet success with their single, “Sweet Disposition”, as it opened enough doors for them to nearly sell out a UK tour and win several awards at the 2010 ARIA Music Awards and mind you, a BRIT Award as Best International Breakthrough Artist in 2011.

Fast track 2012, the Australian indie rock band is back and has just released their new self-titled album, The Temper Trap. The album was recorded at the famed Sound Factory in Los Angeles, with producer Tony Hoffer, who’s worked with the likes of Beck, M83 and Phoenix. It is the band's first album as a five-piece since Joseph Greer was added as a permanent member of the band. In an interview with NME, lead guitarist Lorenzo Sillitto revealed that the record has lyrics inspired by last summer's London riots and the end of singer Dougy Mandagi's relationship. ‘There are lots of different moods on the record, some of it is very bright and some of it is more melancholic. When we started writing it felt a bit darker, but over time the songs took on a new life and recording in California meant some of the sun definitely seeped in.’, states Sillitto.

The Temper Trap album includes twelve tracks that boast of flawless melodies like the soulful tunes “Trembling Hands”, “The Sea Is Calling” and “Miracle”; the acoustic rhythm “Rabbit Hole”; the crushing rock surges of “Never Again” and the lead single “Need Your Love”; the pulsating beats of “London’s Burning”, “Where Do We Go from Here”, “Leaving Heartbreak Hotel” and “This Isn’t Happiness” as well as the pure anthemic revelry of “Dreams” and “I’m Gonna Wait”.

The Temper Trap’s core members are Dougy Mandagi on vocals, Jonathon Aherne on bass guitar, Toby Dundas on drums, Lorenzo Sillitto on lead guitar and Joseph Greer on keyboards and guitar. The band brought us the hottest singles from the UK Album Chart such as “Sweet Disposition” from the OST of 500 Days of Summer, “Love Lost”, “Science of Fear” and “Fader”.

THE TEMPER TRAP is out now in CDs exclusively under MCA Music available at Astroplus and Odyssey Music & Video or online via www.MyMusicStore.com.ph

THE OFFSPRING TALK ABOUT THEIR NEW ALBUM ‘DAYS GO BY’

2:24:00 PM

Here's another readings for the avid followers of the music industry. Check the whole details about The OFFSPRING's latest album entitled "Days Go By".

Press Release
"We want to offer something new with every album," says Dexter Holland, frontman of THE OFFSPRING.

After nine records, that's certainly not an easy task for any band. However, THE OFFSPRING have more than a few surprises up their sleeves, and their ninth studio album, DAYS GO BY, is staggering proof. Produced by Bob Rock (Metallica, Mötley Crüe, The Cult), the record sees the group embracing every side of their sound, while simultaneously blazing new trails.

The Huntington Beach, CA quartet—Dexter Holland (vocals, guitar), Noodles (guitar), Greg Kriesel (bass) and Pete Parada (drums)—once again break all the rules in true punk fashion. The title track and first single glides on an irresistible riff and arena-sized hook. Meanwhile, "OC Guns" swings from swaggering SoCal reggae into a mariachi breakdown, and "Cruising California (Bumpin' in My Trunk)" hilariously recounts an afternoon rolling around the beach with nothing but time to kill and scantily girls to flirt with. Then, there's the final speed punk death march of dual salvo "Dividing by Zero" and "Slim Pickens Does The Right Thing And Rides The Bomb To Hell." It's unique, unpredictable, and undeniably THE OFFSPRING.

The band's last album, 2008's Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace, featured the alternative and rock radio staples “Hammerhead” and “You're Gonna Go Far, Kid.” Also among their best-known hits are the rock anthems “Self Esteem,” “Come Out And Play (Keep ‘Em Separated)” and “The Kids Aren't Alright." They've performed over 1100 shows across the globe and sold more than 36 million albums worldwide. Their 1994 release Smash remains the highest-selling album of all-time on an independent label.

In 2010 after a successful touring cycle behind Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, the four musicians regrouped in their Orange County studio to begin carving out ideas for their next offering. Holland took a trip to visit Rock in Hawaii. After collaborating with the producer on the previous record, it was like they'd simply picked up where they left off.

"The last album turned out really great, so we wanted to work with Bob again," Holland explains. "When you go with a producer for the second time, it can go one of two ways. Either, since you've gotten to know each other, everything gets a lot better. Or, sometimes, you've gotten too comfortable with each other, and it stops being professional. The producer becomes too much like a buddy. Luckily, it didn't go that way. Bob encouraged us to throw all of our ideas out there." The title track actually ignited the entire process. They began working on that song first, revisiting it throughout the entire process, and actually finishing it in the last batch. For Holland, the song remains emblematic of a pervasive overarching theme.

"It tied everything together and was the most representative of what I was trying to get at," he reveals. "Time marches on. We have to get through life and pull ourselves up by our boot straps. No one is going to do it for you. At the same time, there's a message of hope, and I wanted that to come across. The last few years have been really tough on a lot of people. You can see it on TV or in the news. The song doesn't simply say, 'Let's revolt.' It's about the spirit that things can get better."

There's nothing quite as cathartic as seeing the band live though, and that's where the material on DAYS GO BY will burn the brightest. It's because even after all this time, the group's reason for being on stage hasn't changed. It's as pure as it's ever been. "We share a love of this music that we got into at such a young age," declares Noodles. "It meant the same thing or a very similar thing to all of us back then as it does now. We love recording. We love hanging out backstage. We love giving each other shit and taking the piss out of each other. We love playing."

It's no surprise Holland feels the same. "We still do it because it's what we love. We feel inspired to make the best music we can and try to make the world a bit better in the process. When the audience sings back to you, there's nothing like it." There will be a lot more of that to come with DAYS GO BY.

11:57:00 AM

Does anyone knows about Jepsen?  Well, here's something from the foreign music industry to get you updated on what's happening in the music world.  Below is the press release of Carly Rae Jepsen's latest hits "Call Me Maybe".

Press Release

PLATINUM-CERTIFIED SINGLE ALSO TOPS BILLBOARD’S POP CHART THIS WEEK
JEPSEN ON TOUR WITH JUSTIN BIEBER THIS FALL

June 13th, 2012 — Santa Monica, CA — “Call Me Maybe” — the ubiquitous debut U.S. single from Schoolboy Records/Interscope recording artist Carly Rae Jepsen — has hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The platinum-certified track, which Jepsen co-wrote, is also No. 1 on the Billboard Pop chart this week. Jepsen is the first female artist to top the chart with a debut single since Ke$ha’s "TiK ToK" in January 2010. “Call Me Maybe” has sold over 3.2 million singles and spent four consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Digital Songs chart. Certified quintuple-platinum in Jepsen’s native Canada (where it hit No. 1), the track is also an international sensation, climbing to No. 1 in the iTunes Singles charts in the U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Norway and more.

The irresistibly catchy song’s ascent is fueled in part by its videos. The official video has racked up more than 105 million views on VEVO, while an unofficial clip — which Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and other young stars filmed of themselves lip-synching and dancing to the song and posted on Big Time Rush actor and singer Carlos Pena’s YouTube Channel — has attracted more than 42 million views and has inspired other stars get in on the action. Katy Perry, actor James Franco, the Harvard Baseball team, SMU Women’s Rowing team and more have all posted their own versions of “Call Me Maybe.”

"Wow. I feel so blessed. Thank- you to everyone who made this happen. Life keeps surprising me lately and it's a wonderful feeling" says Carly.

Music executive Scooter Braun says, “To see Carly hit #1 is an amazing achievement...but what is even better is seeing it happen to someone as kind and as warm a person as Carly Rae Jepsen. No one is more deserving and I know from hearing her music this is just the beginning for her."

Since the rise of “Call Me Maybe,” Jepsen has appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Ellen DeGeneres Show (introduced by Bieber), Good Morning America, The View, performed the National Anthem at a sold-out Dodgers game, and drawn thousands of fans to her first U.S. show headlining the “Music Spotlight" series at 5 Towers concert venue on Universal CityWalk. Jepsen also appeared at both the Billboard Music Awards, KIIS FM’s Wango Tango concert in Los Angeles and the Capital FM Summertime Ball at London’s Wembley Stadium.

This fall, Jepsen will hit the road with Justin Bieber as a very special guest on the multi-platinum Pop/R&B sensation’s 2012 headlining tour of North America. Sure to be the hottest ticket of the fall, The "Believe" Tour, presented by AEG Live, will kick off on September 29th in Glendale, AZ, and blaze a trail through more than 45 cities before wrapping up in Miami on January 26th, 2013. For details, please visit www.carlyraemusic.com.

Jepsen may be a newcomer in the U.S., but the Mission, British Columbia, native is an established artist in Canada where she placed third on the fifth season of Canadian Idol and landed a deal with Fontana/Maple Music. She has scored two previous gold singles and received numerous awards and accolades, including 2010 Juno Award nominations for “Songwriter of the Year” and “Best New Artist” as well as a 2010 MuchMusic Video Award nomination for “UR Fave New Artist.” She has sold more than 400,000 singles in her home country and is signed to 604 Records in Canada

About Kia Rio

6:09:00 AM
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kia Rio for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Road trip has always been fun. The fun starts once the trip move on. It's not where you're going but its the road you're passing through that makes the journey fun and exiting. You'll never know what you;ll see along the way. It;s thrilling and mysterious.

Kia Rio is in tone with that adventure. Driving down the road of mysterious paths, giving us the excitement and the feeling of the blood rush.

Of course who would want to have a long drive witout something to enjoy along the way. It's like having a popcorn while watching a great movie. Kia Rio provides the following features that Im sure drivers and passengers would really enjoy.

What I like about this Kia Rio is their UVO Technology that enables the driver to do some things with their display or commanding their music application and activating it with thir voice. It avoids the possibility of endangering the driver and the passengers. Also the Bluetooth and the USB Jack are two of something that brings out the best of UVO technology.

I think the Rodeo Drive is the most challenging. I don't know much of the place but having shopping destinations makes it harder to look around.   Aside from this one there are also other challenges like the Graffiti Park Merry-Go-Round which is a historical landmark in LA that has been running since 1937 and is a place where Walt Disney brought his children before building Disneyland, the Amoeba Records which is one of the most popular historic music stoes in Los Angeles, the Pink's Hot Dog which is an LA favorite serving hot dogs name after Hollywood celebrities, and the Roosevelt Hotel which is a smack dab in the middle of Hollywood Blvd.

To know more about Kia Rio I encourage people, readers and friends to watch the video and see for yourself plus read the details at Rio Explorer Page.

Rain Or Shine, Run United 2 Go!

10:53:00 PM

Another great running event organized by Unilab Active Health and RunRio Inc., The Run United 2. It is the second leg of the trilogy and runners who've joined the first run would have already completed two thirds of the pie medal.

Early dawn of June 17, 2012 came a bed weather. As much as I wanted to stay in bed and curled under the sheet, duty calls, plus I wanted to see this well anticipated running event. Rain starts to shower when I left the house, then it pours a bit harder while travelling off to SM Mall of Asia.

The Start and Finish Line
The road was wet and the whole venue were still dripping with rain water. Though the weather was not good, still, runners are coming in and piling up for this running event. Some were still with sleepy eyes and some are already eager to run. It was around past 5 AM when runners started looking for their category areas. Great that the whole venue are well mapped out with signs and banners to easily locate category areas.

Runners looking for their category area.
Runners getting ready for the run'

Few minutes before 5:30 AM, runners for the 10K Category run started to gather in the starting line and they were given a little warm up and some few reminders before the run. Then the gun fire was shot. Bang! And they're off.  Few minutes after, it was time for the 5K Category run.  Everyone lined up in front of the starting line and as a routine runners need to get warmed up before engaging to a run.  Everyone pump up their joints and ligaments with the beat of the music.  Runners settled and waited.  Then the much awaited gun shot fired! The 5K Category run has most number of participants which took time before the area was cleared.  As much as I wanted to join the run, I'm well aware that I wouldn't catch up with the fastest runner and I might not catch the winners crossing the finish line. So, I've stayed behind and waited.

It's the right decision to stay behind and waited because just a few minutes after they've been off to run, the fastest runner for the 10K Category run was already visible from the finish line. Few more seconds and he reached the finish line. Followed by the fastest runner from the 5K Category.  Two of the 5K Category runner were Filipinos and the other one is a foreigner.  They are just minutes away from each other.  Panting for their breath, marshals placed an ID tag on them to indicate that they were the top three fastest runner for the 5K Category Run.  Top three fastest female runner for the 5K Category run were also given an ID tag for proper distinction.  Few more minutes and most of the runners already crossed the finish line, mostly are 5K Category runners.   Different runners, different styles and different tricks to attract attention but they all have one common goal... to cross that finish line.

Runners finishing one by one.

Great way to celebrate FATHER'S DAY with Dad!
Since the 5K Category run has the most number of participants, runners built a traffic in getting their loot bags.  Thanks to the marshals it was immediately addressed and avoided longer build up of traffic.  Some of the runners who runs the 5K Category is the Father and Son tandem (see the picture above) in which the son is proudly wrote "MY DAD" and a line pointing to his father on his chest.  He sure was aware of the Father's Day.

After covering the runs it was time to roam around the event area. Get to try different facilities and brand booths. Most of the brand booths were engaging enough for the runners, kids and parents. It is indeed a great place to enjoy by the whole family, especially in a very good weather. While doing round ups with the booths I was able to interview different runners and get their insights about the entire event. Three of whom I've interviewed were first timers who take down the challenge of running the 5K Category run and two were a couple who happens to be celebrating their wedding anniversary that day. They enjoyed the run and they assured that they'll be joining again on the next run. I was able to interview other runners who have joined the first leg and they were very happy to have completed the second leg and they are looking forward for the next leg of the run. All of them agreed that it was a great running event, though there were some recommendations raised. Some of the recommendations were:
  • To have more tables and staff in providing loot bags and giveaways for the runners.
  • To have more kilometer marker.

John, first time to join a run.
Sweet couple, first time to join a run.
After an hour of booth hopping and interviews it was time for the announcements of winners. The first few awarding was enjoined by Zoren Legazpi and Carmina Villaroel together with their kids. Trophies, medals, and other prizes were given to the winners. In between of the awarding, participants for the Cheerdance Competition does their routine. Here are the winners of Run United 2 in different categories.

Great that the weather cooperated with the event which enables the runners and organizers (Unilab Active Health and Ranrio Inc.) to make the entire activity a success. What I like about the event is the whole shebangs. They were able to grasp the interests of runners not only during the run but also after. The thirst are not only quench but also the hunger for fun and exciting activities.
