Shopee Levels Up with the Launch of Its New Game Called Shopee Pets

11:54:00 PM

Online shopping helps a lot of Filipinos de-stress and unwind. Aside from the retail therapy shoppers can enjoy, Shopee is set to make users’ in-app experience even more entertaining and engaging with the launch of Shopee Pets. Inspired by a popular mobile game during the 90s, Shopee Pets allows players to redeem exciting rewards by nurturing their virtual pets. Aside from big discounts and exclusive brand offers, Shopee Pets is one of the many exciting things to look forward to during this 3.15 Consumer Day Sale.

Shopee Pets is a life simulation game where players can help their pets evolve through daily activities. Players can level up their pet’s XP (experience points) and unlock diamond points throughout the game by feeding, cleaning, and playing with them. Accumulated points can be used to redeem rewards at the Points Redemption Store. Players can take care of their pets all day, and once their pet reaches level 50, they can choose another pet and repeat the life cycle. To level up your pet and gain diamond points, players can do the following:

  • Social Interactions: Sharing is caring! With social interactions between players, they can receive shared items that can increase their pet’s happiness bar.
  • Schooling: You can let your pet attend school once it reaches level 4, so they can join class games, and engage in other activities like quizzes and races to achieve diamond points.
  • Grooming: Keep pets squeaky clean by dragging the soap bar on top of the pet. All cleaning supplies help increase XP and its happiness and cleanliness levels.
  • Feeding: Make sure your pet is well-fed to maintain its happiness levels. There are three types of pet food and paid food gives your pet higher XP growth and fullness points.
  • Playing: Keep your pets happy by playing with them on a regular basis. There are three ways to play with your pet:
    • Dance to the Music: Follow the beat to increase your pet’s happiness bar. Each song consists of three rounds and will speed up at the end of each round.
    • Jump on a Trampoline: Drag the trampoline left and right to make sure your pet stays on it and earns more points.
    • Score a Goal in Soccer: Score a goal and increase your pet’s happiness and XP level. Each goal has a corresponding amount of XP.

Remember that you can choose your pet at the start of each cycle and also look forward to dressing them up in adorable clothes—from head to toe! You can also start doing improvements on your pet’s home by level 25, unlocking new themes, and gaining access to upgrades.

During the launch of Shopee Pets on March 3, players can look forward to amazing prizes which include Shopee coins, coins cashback vouchers, and other products such as a Xiaomi Air Purifier, an O'Healthy Electric Juicer Blender, an Acer Aspire 3 laptop, and many more. One lucky player also stands a chance to win ₱100,000 via ShopeePay from March 12 to 16.

Shopee Pets joins a list of other fun in-app games such as Pera Panalo, Shopee Candy, Shopee Farm, Shopee Bubble, and Shopee Claw that have become the favorites of shoppers on the platform. To further enhance the overall online shopping experience, ShopeePay, Shopee's mobile wallet, offers exclusive perks and savings such as daily free shipping and cashback vouchers. Users can enjoy 20% cashback when they scan to pay at ShopeePay’s partner merchants such as Potato Corner, Puregold, National Bookstore, The Generics Pharmacy, and more until the end of March. Simple Online Kitchen Games Teach Kids The Basic of Culinary

11:56:00 AM

Experience is the best way for kids to learn. The simpler it is, the fastest they will know about it. They like it easy, fun, and engaging. Practical and not theoretical is the most better word to describe it. Well, I learned it from my kids.

If you're going to look back and reminisce your childhood, you'll see that life is simple. We don't worry too much, and we don't complicate things. It's like the basics of Math one plus one is always equal to two. There are no extra parameters that lead to confusion. So, that's how I think, but of course, there are always different approaches to learning.

So, let your kids learn to cook at an early age? Is it a good idea? Well, for me, it's a great idea. If you're going to ask me why, well, I have these few lines to explain it.
  1. Kids can develop more of their motor skills. The eye and hand coordination.
  2. Kids learn to value the food they eat.
  3. Kids can understand the process of preparing these foods.
  4. Respect for all the people behind the preparation of these foods.
  5. Kids to know that there are more flavors in life.
  6. For kids to learn the basics of cooking.
There are more reasons why kids should learn to cook, but these six are just some that I could think of at the moment.

I mentioned at the beginning that experience is the best way for kids to learn, and since we don't want these kids to go jumble and clumsy at the kitchen, here are some games that kids can play and learn about culinary, the Open Restaurant and Penguin Cafe. You can find these games at CulinarySchools.Org. There are also other games online like the Diner Dash and Papa's Donuteria that can help kids understand the aspects of serving and preparing food.

With the games created by Culinary School, you can know that they have this game to create awareness of the games they offer and that culinary is also fun. Through these games, they let their website visitors experience the fun inside the kitchen through culinary games.

All you have to do is get into their website, check out the games for kids and start playing. That's how easy and accessible it is. So, you don't need to have an account to play the game, and you don't have to enroll in culinary school just to play their games. All that you need to do is visit and browse the website. In case, you might get interested in finding Culinary Schools in your place, you browse the website and find one near your area.

I remember attending this culinary event back then, where we created two dishes. The host Chef guided us from preparation to serving. Fortunately, the food tastes great, though it was only a matter of a day, still, it was a remarkable experience. This is probably a few perks that bloggers get when we get invited in an event.

So, would I enroll my kids in culinary school? Perhaps yes, if the budget permits and if Covid is gone already. But for now, we will have to settle for the games. At least they would know what happens inside the kitchen.

Solitaire, A Game of Focus and Decision-Making

7:22:00 AM

The 90s decade, in my opinion, is the era where old and new overlap. It is the era where developments in technology started, an era of changes. And the first beneficiaries of this progress are the 90s kids. They are the first-hand witnesses of technologies booming economy, and I'm one of those lucky ones.

Do you still remember those desktop computers with bulky monitors in white-colored casing? Well, if you do, you're probably one of the few people who first enjoyed the technology of the computer, from the dos command using the floppy disk to store your data up to what we now know as the advanced settings of Windows.

The development of computers has indeed involved past time games in it. And I think, or what I can remember, there are two games popular on desktop computers. These are the Mines Sweep and the Solitaire. Among the two, the Solitaire game is the most popular because it is really a card game enjoyed by many, right before the start of the computer era.

The Solitaire game is a pastime game that doesn't require much of a memory from your computer. Even though this game may look elementary, this game needs your full attention and focus for you to finish the game. The main thought of the game is about decision-making. It is about deciding where to put or place the next card that matches the card suits or the sequence.

So, have I completed a set of the game? Well, I lost count already, but every game is different. There are many possible situations in every play, and that's where you learn.

Did you know that some doctors use the Solitaire game in clinical tests? Well, I just recently saw an article about it, and I was amazed that it actually helped?

Now, there are different kinds of Solitaire games that you can play, whether on your computer or from the internet. Yes, the internet or the world wide web has a lot of good pastime games to offer for everyone. All you need to do is use your fingertips and type or click away.

Even though Solitaire is a good card game to play, some people think of this as a game to slack off in the office or at work. I find it interesting that the solitaire game is used or featured in different movie stories conveying laziness. There are some movies with the office scene playing solitaire games. Perhaps the most recent one that I have seen was one of the episodes in Trese, an animated series from Netflix, where the police officer is slacking off on his job while their Captain is away.

In reality, it does happen in some offices, but it happens because there are no customers yet. So, they need to do something in their dull hours.

Some websites offer this Solitaire game for free, and you don't have to worry about installing the game and eating up some of your precious computer memory. All you need to do is visit the site https://www.solitaire.org/ for you to actually play the game. The site doesn't only offers Solitaire game but a bunch of games that can test your skills, whether your motor skills or your cognitive skills. You can also play this kind of games https://www.solitaire.org/match-3-games/ The best part is that it is free and it is there for us to enjoy.

A New Game Haven For An Old-School Gamer

1:12:00 AM

Games! Yes, we're going to talk about games today here in Kwento Ni Toto. I'm not sure if I had published the article that I wrote for a Non-Government Organization's newsletter about video games in this blog. But, whether I have or not, still, this blog is all about Kwento or Stories. And the best story is when you're in it or have experienced it.

I love playing video games! And probably it was also the reason why I somehow encountered unwanted circumstances in my life. That specific part of my life somehow affected me, my decisions, and even my dealings with people, especially online. It is my life, and it's all in the past now. The best part of that experience is I have learned so much.

So, moving on with our story. As I mentioned, the best storyteller is experience. And being in the generation who have witnessed most of the development and progress in technology about video games, I can say that it is a gift to share that experience.

Video games and Game Console Encounters

Drawings and sketches are appealing to my eyes. I don't know why I love different and bright colors, especially if there's a character that stands out of the usual images.

My first encounter with video games is when I was in my first year in elementary school. The console was not ours but seeing those animated figures amazes me. I think I was mesmerized and hypnotized at that time. And that was the start of my fascination with video games. Oh, by the way, that was Atari. Then, when I'm in the 4th grade, I got to experience another game console, the Nintendo Family Computer, which has plenty of games. Some of the famous games from this game console are Super Mario Bros., Galaga, B wings, Rockman, Contra, Double Dragon, and many more. We don't own any game consoles. It was too pricey for our family to own one, so my remedy is to go to the rental shop to play these games for a short time.

Then I meet the Gameboy, Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), and Sega Saturn, which display fascinating 2D video games that heightened my interest but still, not owning any of these consoles. The fascinating part is that I get to challenge not only my friends but myself as well. Defeating my highest score or knowing how far I have come in the game. Of course, there's this challenging part with your peers. Later, something new and more than the two-dimensional games, the introduction of the Sony Play Station. It was that time that games started in CD format. A few years after, Microsoft also did make their version of the game console, the XBox. While XBox remains XBox, Sony Play Station started having its PS2, PS3, PS4, and the recently released were PS5. The development from Play Station to now is interesting as if it was almost a real-like view and feeling.

Nothing Beats the Classic

I am fortunate enough to be part of the generation who saw everything, so I asked you how many of these classic 2D games have you played? If you say that you get a hold of some of these, that's good for you because your hand and eye coordination are well-practiced. Imagine looking at a pixelated figure but still manages to hit the enemy or the target. That is something else.

Here are some of the classic and iconic old-school video games that you can check out on the internet. It would be even great to have some of these like Pacman, Galaga, Rockman or Megaman, Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Contra, Double Dragon, B-Wings, Twin Bee, Battle City, Castlevania, more of it.

I missed playing these classic video games, and because I don't have any of those game consoles and video games, I tried searching for them on the internet. Fortunately, there were some, but you need to pay to download. There are also somewhat suspicious.

Finding My New Game Haven

With the presence of technology and mobility, you can find plenty of free games online. When I say plenty, it means a lot. You can search the Google Play Store if you're an Android user or App Store if you're using iOS. Take note that these games are more of 3D games now. The only problem with these games is that they all use a large amount of memory from your device.

You can also find some great games on SteamPowered.com and get an option to pay or get the free ones. Of course, we all love free, so here's one website that is the answer to my yearning that offers the best solution to many of the free online games. One. It does not need to eat up most of my phone or laptop memory, as it is all online embedded into the website. It is more of a browser-based game. Two, it somehow has some of the look-a-like games that I wanted to play. Three, it needs no registration and runs no ads to play the games. And lastly, it is all free, all you need to have is a reliable connection to the internet. The site is called Plays.Org.

I don't have any idea how long is the list of games that they have. But I know these games are remarkable and fascinating for someone like me who misses playing old-school video games. Their selection of games varies from simple problem-solving games up to complicated eyes and hand coordination. They have arcade games and retro games that for sure will bring back childhood memories.

So far, there are few games that I loved most in these browser-based games. First is the Tank Wars, which is similar to the classic Battle City. Second is the Cyberman V, which is accordingly inspired by the game Rockman. And lastly, is the Flight Sim which is a simulation of being an air traffic controller.

My Final Say

Giving my final say, for gamers, game enthusiasts, and people who love video games, there's only one reason why we play, that is to have some FUN! Of course, there's always the added reason like killing boredom. So, whether you're bored or having fun, keep playing!
