From "Pinoy Ako" to "Pinoy Tayo," Rico Blanco Reimagine PBB Hit Theme Song

11:40:00 PM

Rico Blanco, one of the OPM icons, unifies Filipinos through a spin of the hit Pinoy Big Brother theme song "Pinoy Ako". Renaming it to "Pinoy Tayo" This is after 16 years the song was first heard and eventually became an anthem of empowerment for many Filipinos.

Rico’s special anniversary version of the Orange and Lemons original “Pinoy Ako” will serve as the official theme song of the upcoming "Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Kumunity Season 10."

“It’s such an honor to do the song. Just what it stands for. The original version is so well-loved,” he said. “This is a chance to rediscover it.”

Now with vibrant elements of Filipino ethnic sound, “Pinoy Tayo” is a composition of ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo, Clem Castro, and Rico, who also produced the remake while Jonathan served as the surpervising producer.

Rico detailed his inspiration in making the new version. I put in all the small elements that my songs had throughout the years,” he shared.

“Excited ako about that happiness na mabibigay ng kanta. It’s a very bright, upbeat song, and I kept that from the original version,” he added.

Aside from being this year’s PBB theme song, “Pinoy Tayo” will also serve as the lead single in the expansive 25-track album that will celebrate the music of Jonathan in the last 20 years.

The multi-awarded songwriter and producer remains in awe of how the song has become a statement on Pinoy pride and how it continues to uplift the spirits of generations of Pinoy audiences.

“I’m grateful to hear people saying that this song has become part of the soundtrack of their lives,” Jonathan shared. “As I embark on my 20th anniversary in the music industry this year, an icon, a legend who I look up to helped me kickstart the celebration by re-imagining this song with his genius.”

Jonathan also spoke about what the song “Pinoy Tayo” means to him. “Ito yung gusto naming ibigay sa audience na mapagaan man lang ang pinagdadaaanan nating lahat at magbigay ng hope at inspirasyon individually and as a nation. And also to remind us na maraming reasons pa rin to celebrate ang ating pagiging Pilipino,” he said.

How To Nail Your PBB KUMU Audition From the “PBB” EX-HOUSEMATES

8:21:00 AM

It's that season where aspirants and dreamers work their audition skits for the biggest house in the Philippines, but since this time is quite different the worldwide search for the next batch of housemates for “Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10” has officially started on the Pinoy community platform, Kumu.

So, if you're eager and hopes to be shortlisted, and get through, here are some advice from the Ex-PBB housemates.

Take note of the schedules. If you are 20 to 40 years old, you can audition for this season’s adult edition from September 1 until September 30. Audition for the Teen Edition (15 to 19 years old), meanwhile will be from December 1 to 31.

Here are to tips and bits of help for your PBB journey from the “PBB” ex-housemates from different seasons, how to nail your Kumu audition.

The very first “PBB” Big Winner said that a sure-fire way to nail the auditions is to be true to one’s self.

Magpakatotoo sa sarili is one the values that is always highlighted inside the “PBB” house and is also the same trait that will lead you to becoming an official housemate.

“Be authentic, be true to yourself and always give your best,” said “Kumander Nene” during the “PBB Kumunity Season 10” Party last August 27 on Kumu.

There's no room for pretenders in "PBB," according to Nene's batchmates, Say and “PBB Season 1” Third Big Placer, Cass. They said that one's true character will surely show in the reality TV program.

“PBB Celebrity Edition 1” Big Winner Keanna Reeves echoed their statement saying, there’s really no point in trying to be someone you’re not just to impress the panel. The best thing to do is to present yourself as you are.

In the words of “PBB All In” alumnus Fifth Solomon, “’wag mo pilitin ‘yung parang magda-drama ka.

Twins Joj and Jai from “PBB Teen Edition 4” know that “PBB” auditions are always a blockbuster. They said to stand out from the crowd, avoid playing it safe. Show what you’re capable of and put the spotlight on your uniqueness in the short span of time you’re given.

“Ipakita mo kung ano’ng kaya mo. Kung ano ‘yung kakaiba sa ‘yo. ‘Wag safe kasi baka hindi mapansin,” said the ladies from Bacolod.

Leave your insecurities at the door, says “PBB: 737” 4th Big Placer, Dawn Chang. Instead of being embarrassed about your quirks, embrace them because it makes you unique. “Unahin niyo weirdest stuff about you, mga nakakahiya at nakakatawa.”

For “PBB Otso” Big Winner Yamyam Gucong and “PBB Lucky 7” housemate Nikko Natividad, it’s more important to share your different interests and be natural because “PBB” looks for personality and character than looks.

“Be natural sa video mo. May hinahanap si Big Brother na uniqueness mo,” said YamYam. While Nikko said, “’Wag niyo na lagyan ng filter.

When you think you’ve done everything right, it’s time to offer it up to the Most High. That is the advice of “PBB Connect” Big Winner, Liofer Pinatacan. As a spiritual guy, Liofer shared that it’s all up to Him if being a housemate is in your cards.

“Prayer lang din talaga. Kung para sa ‘yo, para sa ‘yo yan. Ipakita mo kung ano ‘yung napakagandang kwento ng buhay mo,” said Liofer.

“PBB Otso” finalist Fumiya Sankai has a simple advice. Don’t overthink your audition and just focus on how you can make your personality shine. “Don’t think too much. Just be yourself,” he said.

Now that you’ve learned from the ex-housemates, it’s time to put the lessons into action and start reaching for your dream. Again, to audition, just download the Kumu app, create an account, and upload a one minute kumu clip introducing yourself and share why you deserve to become a housemate. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #PBBKumuAdults for the Adult Edition and #PBBKumuTeens for the Teen Edition.

PBB House Condemn for Demolition?

12:18:00 PM

We always find these phrases on landmarks and buildings, "a new community will rise soon." When this happens, it's always time for demolition. More of letting go of the past and welcoming the coming memories, but for Pinoy Big Brother House, it's not about letting go, it's more of building more memories and inculcating a tradition of hope and dreams. With the number 10 on its side, it only means another round of Pinoy Big Brother Housemates or rather, a community.

Read these different posts of different ex PBB housemates.

Maymay Entrata
"10? Anong 10, PBB?! 😃"

Maris Racal
"kuya sandali! wag ka munang umalis. 🥺 pakinggan mo muna ang litanya ni maris 🙈

pero sa totoo lang, this house holds a super special place in my heart and it’s a memory i will always cherish (kahit minsan naki-cringe ako sa sarili ko lol). I need to know what this #10 means. Kuya?"

Kim Chiu

😵😵 tinakpan tapos ngayon may #10 ???

Dati tinanong mo ko kung may nahanap na ba akong friends, mga Peng You sa loob ng bahay mo 🙈🙈 and super thankful ako kasi more than that pa yung binigay mo sakin, nakahanap ako ng family 💖 kaya I hope everything’s okay Kuya! 🏠🥺😣🙏🏻

Here are 10 things na diko alam nung pumasok ako sa bahay mo.

@pbbabscbntv @abscbn"

Sam Milby

"What’s with the 10, PBB? 🤔 @pbbabscbntv

I can still remember the first time I stepped in your house, Kuya. I found it hard to speak Filipino but I never felt that I didn't belong. I found a new family inside your house and I’m truly grateful for everything. So I hope everything’s okay, Kuya!"

Gerald Anderson

"Where it all started, PBB Teens 2006.. Salamat Kuya for this once in a lifetime experience 👊🏼 Everything I learned when I began in this house in 2006, I will never forget. Grateful for you, Kuya. Whatever this #10 is, I hope it comes with good things only. 👊🏻"

Ryan Bang

Lou Yanong
