Food has always been one of my comfort, it gives me the completion of my thoughts whenever I'm shattered and out of focus.  It is a vice that I think has brought me to different taste of cuisines and delicacies.  A delightful journey of my tongue and an exquisite adventure of my lips.

Today, I have experienced a come back of history.  It has brought me the sense of where and when it all started.  A portion of the Filipino Culture that has been passed on through generations.


When we've heard of mami and siopao, it all boils down to one specific spot in Manila and that is Binondo.  The heart of the rich Chinoy culture.  Together with some of the richly known Chinese restaurants, MaSuki is one of those old restaurants in Binondo who have been in the business for more than half a century already.  The history of MaSuki way goes back 1930s when they have firjst established the restaurant in Binondo which was first called as MaKong Noodle House.  Later on it was change to MaSuki due to change of perhaps management and from then on it became the presently known as the MaSuki Mami Restaurant.

Not really present when this event happens but my correspondent was able to be there again and have a great time watching those iButterfly fly around on android operated gadgets.  As usual there were games, raffles and prizes given away to people who graced the event.


To sustain the campaign and fully let people be aware of the iButterfly, SM MEGAMALL launched its own iButterfly campaign offering instant prizes from concepts unique to Megamall, namely: Yabu, Akiba Café, J.CO Donuts & Coffee, Papa John’s, Cha Time, Marithe Francois Girbaud, and SM Megamall Cinema.

The event was held at the SM Megamall Mega Atrium last June 8, with special guests like Tim Yap, Tessa-Prieto Valdez, Jenni Epperson, and more. Guests enjoyed an ibutterfly tutorial from YouTube sensations Petra Mahalimuyak and Bogart the Explorer and had a fun SM ibutterfly experience.


For the benefit of those who hasn't enjoyed catching those butterflies yet here's a detailed explanation about it.

SM Supermalls released the SM iButterfly, an Augmented Reality Application on your IOS and Android mobile devices last May 5, 2012 at select SM Supermalls. SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, SM North EDSA, SM City Fairview, SM Southmall, SM City Baguio, SM City Davao and SM City Cebu simultaneously launched the iButterflies. Catching iButterflies at SM Supermalls is a fun and entertaining mobile information and couponing experience when you are at an SM Mall.

It uses 3 technologies: Augmented Reality, for seeing the iButterflies in the real world, Motion Sensors for catching iButterflies using your phone and your phone’s Global Positioning System or GPS for finding where the iButterflies are. It is definitely a unique way of enjoying promos from our tenant partners such as Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Forever 21, David’s Salon, Kenny Rogers, Jollibee, MangInasal, Chowking, Red Ribbon, Greenwich, Smart, BDO and McDonald’s!

Catching an iButterfly is easy. First, download the application by connecting to the free SM WIFI or the SM_iButterfly SSIS at the participating malls you may also use your phone’s 3G connection.
