Grand Videoke's Bahay-Entablado Singing Community Brings Optimism and Hope

12:13:00 AM

For us, Pinoys, we always find ways to make a dull and gloomy moment filled with joy. No matter the circumstances we are always leaning towards the positive side of every situation.  I'm sure everyone knows Walt Disney and one of his quote would somehow describe in a way every Pinoy.

“Happiness is a state of mind. It’s just according to the way you look at things.” - Walt Disney.

It is indeed a state of mind but for us, Pinoy, it's definitely our way of coping up with the havoc around us. We see the moment filled with a positive mindset, especially now we're experiencing uncertainty because of the pandemic. Though it became normal for a lot of us to focus on the numbers, the things that we can no longer do, and the constant messages that only seem to turn grimmer and grimmer every passing day.

But just like what the talented Walt Disney said in one of his most famous quotes, happiness is simply a state of mind—and this is exactly what Grand Videoke, one of the top providers of entertainment home systems in the country, is trying to drive home by introducing its singing community, Bahay Entablado.

It is probably part of our DNA to always find the silver lining in everything, regardless of what we are facing as individuals and as a country. It is the reason why singing is such a huge part of our culture and why its meaning has been elevated to equal the meaning of family bonding, friendship, celebration, and of course, happiness.

“Bahay Entablado is our way of inspiring hope,” Jin Cortez, Grand Videoke Marketing OIC shares. “We are used to having our videoke sessions in large groups, but we say happiness doesn’t need to stop just because we are far apart from each other right now. Why not turn your very own home into your own stage?”

Enjoyment does not need to be complicated and Grand Videoke’s newest campaign is a good example of this. Besides starting a creative competition among its participants, it is also aimed to inspire others to follow suit and pursuit their own enjoyment in the comfort of their own homes.

“We’re hoping that by doing this, we can show others that there really is nothing that can stop us from having a good time. We can always find ways to have the time of our lives with a little adjustment and some creativity. We want to make every Filipino home a venue for entertainment.” Cortez explains.

Moreover, the campaign and online community also act as a symbolic effort to breathe life once more to live entertainment by bringing into the limelight the entertainment industry, as well as performing artists. In fact, the singing contest has boarded Nar Cabico, a Texas-based theater actor, singer, and songwriter as one of its judges and celebrity supporters. Cabico bagged the Best Actor crown in 2019 for his film “Akin ang Korona” at Sinag Maynila.

“One of the things that truly make us feel alive as Filipinos ay ang videoke. So, I hope this initiative helps us create good vibes and positivity especially during times when everybody just wants to be uplifted. And there is nothing more uplifting than a good videoke session,” Cabico shares.

The company, which is powered by the dynamic powerhouse Audio-Video Solutions Corporation (AVSC), has always been on top of providing world-class entertainment to everyone with their products. And while Grand Videoke doesn’t discriminate regardless of singing prowess, the Grand Videoke Symphony 3 Pro is also equipped with advanced technologies like its proprietary feature Perfect Pitch, a scoring system that guides users to improve their singing skills using an interactive real-time feedback to help anyone improve their singing.

“Just because there are limits doesn’t mean the fun has stopped. If you cannot go out to have your usual round of fun, we are going to bring it to everyone in their very own homes,” Cortez closes.

CARMELLE, CYD, AND VANJOSS WOO PUBLIC FOR VOTES TO BECOME NEWEST “THE VOICE KIDS” GRAND WINNER

10:57:00 AM
The Voice Kids

It's the finals of the Voice Kids. Three young artists will fight for their dreams and future as they sing their hearts out and woo the public to vote for them in the “The Voice Kids: The Finals,” happening this weekend (November 2 and 3) on ABS-CBN.

The stage is already set for Cyd Pangca of FamiLea, Carmelle Collado of Kamp Kawayan, and Vanjoss Bayaban of Team Sarah, who will compete to become the newest and fourth grand champion of “The Voice Kids” to be determined solely by online and text votes.

Eleven-year-old Cyd of Bukidnon reached the finals after having gone through difficulties that challenged his confidence. After being bullied last season for not making it past the battle rounds, the passionate and multi-talented vocalist made an awe-inspiring comeback to “The Voice Kids” as a three-chair turner during the blind auditions.

Carmelle, also 11, of Camarines Sur dedicates her journey to her family of singers and grandmother, who, just like her, was a singing contest veteran. The powerful young artist made her mark this season with her explosive versions of hit songs by both foreign and local divas.

Driven 12-year-old Vanjoss of Pangasinan, who is also a three-chair turner, has his family’s future to fight for. Since his audition, he has kept his eyes on the prize so he could bring home his mother, who is a domestic helper in Hong Kong.

Aside from the young artists, the three superstar coaches are also fighting for their second respective “The Voice Kids” win, after successfully mentoring grand winners Lyca Gairanod (Team Sarah), Elha Nympha (Kamp Kawayan), and Joshua Oliveros (FamiLea).

A new chapter unfolds for one young artist—whose dream will come true? Who among Cyd, Carmelle, and Vanjoss will be crowned victorious?

Don’t miss “The Voice Kids: The Finals,” live from Resorts World Manila, on ABS-CBN or ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable ch 167). Watch its episodes on the iWant app (Android and iOS) or iwant.ph. World-class acts discovered at Kanta Pilipinas SM North EDSA Auditions

9:23:00 PM
The biggest and newest singing reality show of TV5, Kanta Pilipinas held auditions at SM North EDSA last March 30. Over 1500 registrants lined up to get a chance to be part of the most anticipated show featuring the theme song sung by the country's world-renowned Ms. Lea Salonga.

The competition heats up with more head-turning voices and stories at SM North EDSA with hopefuls coming from Zamboanga, Mindoro, Tagaytay, Pampanga, Isabela Province and Marinduque. Pre-screening held at the parking lot trimmed the list to over 350 hopefuls to control the mob wanting to get in and perform on stage. Escalating more gossips and more people talking about the show, the on-lookers and mall-goers caused major traffic as hopefuls get their shot being judged by Inspirational Diva Judge Ms. Jamie Rivera, legendary music icon composer and arranger Mr. Vehnee Saturno and renowned talent manager Ms. Maristel Sempedro.

Some who were champions in other networks and talent shows also joined in the experience and heard "Dito ka na Kapatid! Ang galing mo!" from the judges while the others were short of preparation and practice. An Eric Benet, an Alicia Keys and more remarkable talents rendered their best act and got loud applause from the audience but not all the contestants got in the final list. A Fil-am born with one ear sang to his hearts content and impressed the judges' on his struggle to adjust in the Philippine culture. Some trio and duo also performed with complete costumes to wow the judges but not all the groups received the approval for the final list.

TV5'sKanta Pilipinas breaks ground as it changes the Philippine culture of singing contests not just looking for "Birit Queens/Kings". Eyeing more unique voices and real talents, the judges were very distinct at comments on each contestant on stage. A Cercado sister joined without her siblings proving her sisters wrong about singing contests and performed without the usual technique the family had assimilated. Will she make it to the final list? Some got all three Yes' and some were just unfortunate enough to get the vote of the three judges. The choice of songs, the versions and the unique tunes were prominent at SM North EDSA. At the end of the second day call-back auditions, only 23 got in the final list to compete with the other contestants from other regions.

The search continues as it brings Kanta Pilipinas final on-ground audition in SM City Batangas on April 20, 2012. Who will move the judges next? Find out by liking the Kanta Pilipinas Facebook Fan Page at http://www.facebook.com/KantaPilipinas and follow us on Twitter @Kanta_Pilipinas #kantapilipinas. You can also view the auditions and performances on the official Kanta Pilipinas YouTube Channel. For online auditions, please submit your video URL at www.kantapilipinas.com. What does it take to make the nation sing? Join Kanta Pilipinas and promote the Filipino talent worldwide!

Kanta Pilipinas Audition: The Discerning Exceptional Performances from Iloilo

11:30:00 AM

Photobucket

TV5's Kanta Pilipinas brought the Filipino pride, musical tourism set to promote the country's local talents in the City of Love, Iloilo last March 23-24, 2012. If it was so easy for the contestants in other regional audition venues to come to the stage and bring the house down with their confidence, the Ilonggos were so nitpicky and conservative supporting the hopefuls who had more talent than stories.

This time, the country's considered RnB Siren Ms. Arnee Hidalgo joined our panel of judges, Cornerstone Talent Management Head, Mr. Erickson Raymundo and award-winning cross genre composer, arranger and producer Mr. Jimmy Antiporda selecting the country's top local performers in SM City Iloilo.

Photobucket

The songs took over the stories with more outstanding performances of Ilonggos on the stage. One of the most unforgettable hopeful was a young teenager who sang a Jovit Baldivino's "Too Much Love Will Kill You' dedicating the song to his girlfriend who died of leukemia. Another hopeful from Boracay composed his own songs and a product of broken family who longs for his father's love with his songs. The inspiring stories that created more color and passion to the song wowed the judges in Iloilo.

From among the few registrants, almost half were called back the following day and the final list from Ilonggo were 16 lucky hopefuls who will vie their chances in Manila soon. Were the stories more powerful than the songs?

We have too much to look forward with TV5's Kanta Pilipinas as more performances will unfold in the upcoming auditions set on March 30 at SM City North EDSA and April 20 in SM City Batangas.

The excitement continues with the country's biggest and newest singing talent search that's truly Filipino, Kanta Pilipinas, soon to be airing on TV5! Let the song uplift the nation with Kanta Pilipinas! We all believe that Filipinos are the best singers in the world! Tara na! Kanta mo, Kwento mo, Kapatid #Kanta_Pilipinas!

Kanta Pilipinas Audition: The looks and the talent soar in Baguio

6:28:00 AM
TV5's newest singing reality search, Kanta Pilipinas held auditions at the Summer Capital of the country, Baguio City. The nationwide search for the country's biggest talent brought more crowd witnessing the Ilocanos take the stage with formidable and truly exceptional celebrity judges, award winning Cross Genre Composer, Arranger, Producer Mr. Jimmy Antiporda, Power belter Ms. Bituin Escalante and Cornerstone Talent Management Head, Mr. Erickson Raymundo.

Powerful songs sung and interesting stories unfolded with more than 193 registrants who tried and participated. Perky and crowd-attraction Jhai'Ho opened the program with dynamic song and dance boosting more confidence of the contestants. Compared to the former auditions, the hopefuls in Baguio did not choose Adele's songs and stuck to standards and classics. Onlookers and mall-goers were drawn to the stage as many hopefuls look truly exceptional and pleasing. Was the looks enough to get the vote of the judges? Ms. Bituin Escalante was teased in the middle of the auditions to sample what would be "giving all you've got" performance. Singing while sitting, more audience were thrilled and captivated at our country's power belter's rendition of Alicia Key's "If I Ain't Got You".

Distinct and unforgettable stories that inspired the songs of the hopefuls include a battered teenager who would hide in different places of the house all the time. An interesting twin was astounding with the song and the story sharing how their father had always taken their income in singing. Battery stories continued with one who is always hand-cuffed by the father getting inspiration and passion to sing from the struggles. The stories behind the songs brought the others to the next level.

From a batch of 193 registrants, 43 were called back and only 16 was given the recognition to compete with the nation when Kanta Pilipinas begins airing on July. Was the looks or the drama enough to take them to the next step? Will they be fortunate to compete for the final list? These and more we have all to look forward with Kanta Pilipinas which will be airing on TV5 soon!

Kanta Pilipinas Audition: Judges awe at Davaoeños

3:25:00 PM

Photobucket

Adele and Whitney were still the national anthem among contestants along with other standards and OPM pop songs like Angeline Quinto’s Patuloy ang Pangarap in SM CITY DAVAO last March 10, 2012. Hosted by the perky and lively Jhai Ho, TV5’s Kanta Pilipinas in SM CITY DAVAO became the talk of the town especially after the last calamity struck in the province.

Giving hope to all Davaoeños, Ms. Jamie Rivera, Mr. Jimmy Antiporda and Mr. Erickson Raymundo enjoyed the performances of Davao hopefuls. From the roster of 378 registrants coming from the cities of GenSan, Cotabato, Sarangani and other outskirts, 46 contestants were given another chance to get the judges’ attention the next day.

Photobucket

There was one welder who stood out despite his looks rendering an unforgettable performance and a farmer who dreamt of having his own land. Stories of broken families and living with stepfather were cognizant to the other contestants’ sorrows except for an interesting unemployed young man who makes a living out of singing earning his talent from his disabled grandfather.

Ms. Jamie Rivera had a hard time choosing who will go to the next level after consecutive outstanding performances of the hopefuls. At the end of the second day call-back auditions, 22 hopefuls from Davao made it in the list of eliminations.

Kanta Pilipinas Audition: Cebuanos wow TV5’s Kanta Pilipinas Judges

10:23:00 AM
Fun and more fun of TV5’s Kanta Pilipinas’ call for the nation continued in Cebu last March 2, 2012. Hosted by Jhai’Ho, the event center of SM CITY CEBU filled the mall with 424 registrants and more than a thousand onlookers and mall-goers when TV5’s Kanta Pilipinas began the auditions. Audition Judges Ms. Jamie Rivera, Erickson Raymundo and Mr. Vehnee Saturno entertained the crowd with their comments and reactions. Interesting songs and stories unveiled like a girl from Surigao who won a local contest in her province was sponsored by the Mayor to go to Cebu to audition so she can fly to Manila to look for her Dad whom she never met. The humble dream to be reunited with the father was referred as “Taong-Grasa”. Ms. Jamie Rivera tried to enliven the spirit of the sobbing participant, “Kung ang tatay mo taong grasa, alam ko kung ano ka (Baby Oil”? which the mob appreciated. Cornerstone Talent Management Center Head Mr. Erickson Raymundo pushed the inspiration more with his comments, “Bigay mo na lahat ng Kaya mo, Buwis Buhay na ito”. Another pupil-dilating story was a girl who has Retinitis Pigmentosa (a rare disease suffering from loss of sight at night), a girl born with hairlip but can now sing and a girl who want to give honor to her island (referring to Siargao). From the 424 registrants, 51 hopefuls were called back the next day and only 16 passed to get to Manila.

A Fire in the Soul: A Cantata In Memory of De La Salle Brothers

9:31:00 AM

When in high school until college I was a member of our church choir and singing in a cantata are one of my favorites.  Not a very good singer but I can say I could at least follow the notes and hit it right.  So, knowing this cantata will be restage by DLSU I was hoping that I could watch it performed by great artist.

A Fire in the Soul: A Cantata is a story about the Lasallian mission in Southeast Asia, it is said to be a crucial event in its history.  It was February 12, 1945, American forces bombarded the City of Manila that forced a group of Japanese soldiers to enter De La Salle College campus on Taft Avenue.   People who lived there were attacked, twenty-four men, women, and children, and 16 La Salle brothers died in that massacre.  Perhaps only few people knows about it.

This is the result of war, they turn human into monsters but also forges heroes out of its flames. This story is shared and told to honor their memory, their service to humanity, and to remember them eternally.

This cantata is created by Gabby Fernandez and directed by Peque Gallaga, it is one of the highlights of the centennial celebration of De La Salle University (DLSU) in the Philippines. Vicente Garcia Groyon wrote the libretto and Von de Guzman composed the music.

A Fire in the Soul: A Cantata will have two performances only: February 26 (Sunday - Matinee) at 3pm and February 27 (Monday - Gala Night) at 8pm. Both shows will be held at Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium at the 7th Floor of Don Enrique T. Yuchengco Hall of DLSU.

The cast includes Michael de Mesa (Br. Egbert), Franco Laurel (Br. Antonius), Al Gatmaitan (Br. Mutwald), Jonel Mojica (Br. Friedbert), Miguel Castro (Br. Arkadius), Floyd Tena (Br. Athanasius), and Naomi Sison (Alma Mater).

Also, joining them are Onyl Torres (Japanese Captain), Nazer Salcedo (Japanese Soldier 1), Gary Fabricante (Japanese Soldier 2), and John Gilbert Arceo (Japanese Soldier 3).

Narrators are Jaime Fabregas, Ricky Gallaga, Conchita Castillo, Dado Jose, Tanya Lopez, and Louie Zabaljauregi.

Aside from known actors and actresses different La Salle singing groups were also featured in this cantata.  They are De La Salle Inner Soul, De La Salle-Zobel Chorale, La Salle Centennial Orchestra, La Salle Centennial Chorus. Some kids of La Salle-Greenhills are also part of the show.

Joining the Production and the Artistic Team are Mio Infante (Production Design), Dong Calingacion (Technical and Lighting Director), GA Fallarme (Projection Design), Br. Bernard S. Oca, FSC (Executive Producer), and Lore Reyes (Line Producer).

For the matinee performance on February 26, 2012 (3pm), regular tickets are at P200, while student rates are at P100. For the gala show on February 27, 2012 (8pm), orchestra seats are priced at P500 (regular)/ P250 (students) and balcony seats at P250 (regular)/ P200 (students).
