10:20:00 PM

As the Filipino’s partner in health, Sun Life Philippines (Sun Life) is ramping up its fight against diabetes with the launch of initiatives that promote diabetes awareness and prevention through a healthier lifestyle.

The efforts kick off with the launch of the Sun Life Diabetes Corner. These will be integrated in the recently established Sun Life Barangay Health Stations (SLBHS), an initiative of the Sun Life Financial-Philippines Foundation, Inc. (Sun Life Foundation), and will be piloted in Barangay Pansol, Taal, Batangas.

The Diabetes Corner will integrate a diabetes program in the SLBHS to promote awareness and prevention. Basic medical services such as blood sugar screening will be provided for pre-diabetic patients, while informative dissemination will be done through fliers and educational videos. Healthy diet options will also be shared to diabetic patients to help them better manage their condition.

“Diabetes prevention is a global advocacy for Sun Life. We remain optimistic that with proper education and access to basic medical services, patients will triumph over this debilitating illness,” says Benedict Sison, Country Head and CEO of Sun Life. “We are grateful for this chance to help our countrymen live healthier and brighter lives.”

To reach even more Filipinos, Sun Life will also activate the “Sun Life Wellness on Wheels,” a mobile diabetes clinic that will go on a caravan to partner communities to conduct blood sugar screening, offer free consultation, and share relevant information. This will be done in the next phase of the program.

Moreover, Sun Life, in cooperation with Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance, will also launch the SUNPIOLOGY Family Challenge to make health and wellness a shared goal among families as they fight diabetes. Everyone is encouraged to follow Sun Life’s social media pages, @sunlifeph on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, for details to be shared soon.

Sun Life's New Campaign Highlights About Health

5:29:00 AM

The uncertainty amidst the COVID-19 pandemic has indeed put us all in a situation where we realized the importance of many things. One, in particular, is the value of our health.

Filipinos who are eager to secure their health and ensure a brighter future will find an ally in Sun Life, as it launches a campaign dubbed “Partner in Health.”

Featuring Charo Santos-Concio, Matteo Guidicelli, and Piolo Pascual, the campaign consists of digital videos where they will talk about lessons from past experiences which paved the way towards their brighter future. One of these is investing in their health. The videos will be shared on Sun Life’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/SunLifePH) and YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/SunLifePH).

Complementing the videos is “Safe Space,” a series of webinars focusing on mental health to be conducted in collaboration with the Philippine Mental Health Association, Inc. (PMHA). The pilot stream, entitled “Love 'em, Hate 'em, Stress 'em: Mental Wellness for the Family,” will be held on April 9. It will be followed by “Imperfect Balance: How Mental Wellness Bridges Work and Life” on May 14. The series will close on June 18 with “You are Worth It: Illuminating a Path towards Holistic Health.”

To make the learning series more fun and interactive, Sun Life will also engage followers of its Facebook page through bite-sized content dubbed “Mind Your Health,” which promotes holistic wellness and mental health.

Sun Life is also collaborating with education technology platform Edukasyon.ph to spread its health advocacy to the younger generation. This will be done through a nationwide awareness campaign featuring articles, quizzes, and informative social posts promoting holistic health. Learning Quests, a gamified online learning module, may also be utilized by those who wish to learn more about the topic.

Meanwhile, for those ready to own a health protection product, they may choose from Sun Life’s diverse offerings such as SUN First Aid Plus, SUN Fit & Well Advantage, and Sun ICU Protect. Those who wish to know more about these products may avail of a free consultation with a preferred Sun Life advisor or they may connect with one through www.bit.ly/advisormatch.

“As we continuously endeavor to bring our lives back to normal, let us not forget the lessons we have learned from the past two years. Our health is an important factor in securing a brighter future, and so keeping ourselves healthy is truly worth it,” says Sun Life President Alex Narciso. “It would be Sun Life’s honor to walk this journey with them. With this campaign, we are reemphasizing our commitment to be the Filipino’s partner in health.”

Sun Life Believes for a Better, Faster Philippine Economy in 2020

11:52:00 AM

Sun Life Asset Management Company, Inc. (SLAMCI), the mutual fund arm of Sun Life Canada Philippines, takes on the belief that the Philippines will have a better, stronger, and faster economy in 2020. And Kwento Ni Toto shares that belief, thus, sharing this interesting news from SLAMCI.

"After reviewing the fundamentals, we are confident that the economy is set to significantly improve in the coming year," Sun Life Chief In vestments Officer Michael Enriquez said. "While we can still expect challenges along the way, these should be tolerable and may be balanced by the developments."

Among the factors that are expected to boost the Philippine economy next year are lower prices and accelerated government spending. "While inflation fell to a low of 0.8% in October 2019, we expect prices to slowly inch up as we foresee the year 2020 inflation at 2.4%. This figure is much lower than 2018 inflation of 5.21%," Enriquez said.

Sun Life also expects the government to go full force on capital outlays, with the administration having only two years left in its mandate.

Meanwhile, higher gross domestic product (GDP) may also be expected. According to Enriquez, Sun Life looks forward to a 2019 GDP of 5.8%, and foresees the 2020 GDP getting stronger at 7%. This is due to a combination of base-effects, the recovery of consumer spending, and a stronger government spending "following the lessons it has learned from the budget delay of 2019.

For currency, Enriquez said that a range of Php 50.70 to Php 52.50 to a dollar is possible. "Our year-2019 USD-Php forecast is at 51.00, and 2020 slightly higher at 52.50," he explained.

On the equities front, whike 2019 remains to be a fairly volatile year, Sun Life expects the Philippine Stock Exchange index to end at 8,600 on a best -case scenario. "Our PSEi target for 2020 is at 9,460 with a price-earnings multiple of 18.2 times, while we foresee the earnings to have a growth rate of 10.40%," Enriquez said.

As fir external factors that need to be considered, Enriquez said that the United States may experience a mild but temporary recession in the coming months. With the Federal Reserve on a passive QE (quantitative easing) mode, he says the US Dollar 10-year bobds may re-test the recent low of 1.5%-1.7%.

"Given these possibilities, we highly encourage investors to stay the course," Enriquez said "It is only with along-term vision and a solid commitment to their investing journey that they can benefit from a better and faster Philippine economy in 2020."

So, basically all these are infos given to represent and encourage everyone to save and invest for the future. Giving an opportunity to be mindful of how we save. I like their investment plan of just a Php100 and a selfie. Let us all make our plans and start saving.
