Dynamic Duo: Kathryn & Min Bernardo, AIA Philippines' Newest Brand Ambassadors

5:26:00 AM

AIA Philippines, the leading life insurance company in the country, has just revealed that popular actress Kathryn Bernardo and her mother, Min, have joined the company as brand ambassadors.

Kathryn and Min Bernardo were officially introduced to the public through a reveal in the company’s social media assets, giving AIA followers a first peek into Kathryn and Min’s very special vlog.

The mother and daughter duo gave viewers a glimpse of their personal lives, which have not been previously shared publicly. They stopped by a local ube halaya vendor which made Min reminisce her pregnancy with Kathryn. “Not sure kung alam ninyo ito—kaya ganyan yung skin ni Kath ay dahil pinaglihi ko sya sa ube!” revealed Min. Min also shared their regular after school trips to the bookstore, where Kathryn asked her Mama to buy little trinkets, which she indulged as gift giving is one of her love languages.

Coincidentally, Min was once a Cabanatuan-based financial advisor of AIA Philippines—a decision she made after experiencing a life-changing event which prompted her to protect her family with life insurance, and finally say yes to becoming a financial advisor. “Out of that bad experience came something good. Kumuha ako agad ng life insurance. Then it became a career. Nagtatop ako sa branch namin at the same time, nakakatulong ako sa ibang tao. Natulungan ko sila to understand kung ano ang life insurance at kung gaano ka important ito,” Min shared. The experience made Min an ideal person to encourage people to get the protection they need so they can enjoy a secure future no matter what happens.

Min’s short-lived career with AIA Philippines allowed her to better contribute to the family, and help her clients become worry-free with the protection products she was able to offer them. In her one year as an advisor, she became a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), a select group of financial advisors who are considered at the top of their field. Unfortunately, she could no longer continue after a few years, with Kathryn’s career starting to flourish in Manila.

Kathryn and Min Bernardo are great examples of how AIA Philippines has been instrumental in helping families save lives and protect dreams, despite untoward life events. This is why Kathryn and Min are the perfect duo to represent how AIA Philippines can help Filipinos.

“We at AIA Philippines are excited to welcome Kathryn and Min Bernardo to the AIA family. Through them, we will be able to reach more people and communicate the importance of our mission of racing against risk to protect every Filipino family and empower them to live healthier, longer, better lives,” said Kelvin Ang, AIA Philippines CEO. “As someone who has first-hand account of what happens to a family who was not protected, I can’t stress enough the value of life insurance as an expression of love to those who matter most to us—our families. And Min has experienced it too. This understanding of our mission makes Kathryn and Min the best people to help us spread the word on how love can be better said with AIA.”

Kathryn and Min Bernardo join other influential figures in the Philippines—Gary Valenciano, Solenn Heussaff, Nico Bolzico, and Wil Dasovich—as AIA Philippines ambassadors, individuals who help bring to life its brand Purpose of helping people live healthier, longer, better lives.

5 Vital Reasons for Having Insurance

11:51:00 PM

I always say "Life is full of surprises, so, expect the unexpected." In today's reality, we are filled with uncertainties. We all know that life is uncertain but after the pandemic happened we've all believed that it is indeed life is uncertain.

Being a father weighs a lot, the responsibilities, the obligations, and the idea of raising not only yourself but few more little souls that depends on you. So, it's not
uncommon for fathers to ponder with the idea about insurance.

So, while we contemplate and try to understand more about companies that offers insurance like SafetyWing, here are five (5) importance reasons for having insurance.

1. Financial Safety Net: Life's unexpected twists and turns can sometimes leave us in financial turmoil. Insurance acts as a safety net, helping you weather the storm when medical bills, accidents, or natural disasters strike. It prevents you from draining your savings or going into debt to cover these unforeseen costs.

2. Protecting Loved Ones: A fundamental reason for insurance is the protection it provides to your loved ones. Life insurance, for instance, ensures that your family won't be left in a precarious financial situation in case the worst should happen, offering peace of mind during difficult times.

3. Healthcare Peace of Mind: Health insurance takes the worry out of medical bills. It allows you to seek necessary medical care without fear of overwhelming expenses. Regular check-ups and timely treatments can lead to a healthier, happier life.

4. Safeguarding Your Assets: Whether it's your home, car, or business, insurance safeguards your hard-earned assets. In the event of accidents, theft, or natural disasters, insurance ensures that your valuable possessions can be repaired or replaced without devastating financial consequences.

5. Legal Protection: Liability insurance is your shield in the event of accidents or situations where you might be held responsible for damage to others. It helps cover legal fees and compensation, ensuring you're not left vulnerable to legal consequences.

As we all go through life's uncertainties with full of life's unexpected surprises, insurance offers the security and peace of mind that every father, and indeed every individual, should consider. It's a safeguard against life's uncertainties, a promise of financial security, and a thoughtful way to care for your loved ones.

AIA PHILIPPINES Getting Inclusive with their Offer of Same-Sex Beneficiary Inclusion

11:57:00 PM

With the changing world, uncertainty is always present. The future is uncertain, and one must be prepared for anything. To make protection more inclusive, the country’s premier life insurance company, AIA Philippines, allows customers to enlist their same-sex partners as beneficiaries, as aligned with the Insurance Commission’s position on the matter.

With this update, AIA Philippines customers can enlist their partners as beneficiaries of their existing and future policies, regardless of their marital status. If the customer and beneficiary are married, they would need to submit a marriage certificate or other proof of marriage to be enlisted as a policy beneficiary.

“Everyone should have the means to protect their loved ones from life’s many risks, and expressing love and responsibility to those we care about should not be limited by how we identify as people. Our promise of helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives is for all,” Kelvin Ang, AIA Philippines CEO said. “With these adjustments in place, our LGBTQ+ customers can protect their loved ones through AIA Philippines’ innovative offerings.”

If the couple is not yet married, same-sex partners may still be approved as beneficiaries if declared together with family members. Those who wish their partners to be sole beneficiaries may still be allowed on a case-to-case basis, requiring documents that show proof of their relationship. Customers may inquire with their AIA Philippines financial advisor for more details.

This inclusion pertains to active policies and products to be procured by customers in the future. Hence, whether you’re a current AIA PH customer or if you’re looking to invest in the future, you can enlist your same-sex partner as a beneficiary upon submission of the requirements. With this update, protection from life’s many uncertainties is no longer limited to heterosexual partners.

This update is in line with the Insurance Commission’s affirmation that any individual, regardless of gender identity, may designate any individual as a beneficiary, subject only to certain exceptions under the Civil Code.

Life is unpredictable, and no one knows what tomorrow may bring. And AIA Philippines is committed to ensuring that a healthier, longer and better life is available to all its customers no matter what.

AIA PHILIPPINES SHARES TECH UPDATES, LAUNCHES MY AIA PLATFORM

11:54:00 PM

The current life situation pushes everyone and most of the companies to walk the thin line of chances and success. If you're watching Pinoy Big Brother, you can find that even they are struggling to make their reality game show be relevant for today's viewers, that is why more and more brands are pushing their limits beyond.

With the recent rebrand of AIA Philippines and its bancassurance subsidiary, BPI AIA, the two life insurance powerhouse companies are focused on pushing the boundaries to achieve their global capabilities, in alignment with the strategies and direction of AIA Group, their Hong Kong-based parent company. Part of this alignment is going full speed ahead with the use of technology, digital and analytics—referred to as TDA—to streamline their processes, strengthen their operations, enable their people, and provide relevant solutions to customers while continuously improving service delivery.

“With our recent rebrand to AIA Philippines and consequently, BPI AIA, we continue to ramp up our internal transformation to be better positioned for the future as we embrace our global capabilities, aspiring to lead in the TDA space within the life insurance industry,” stated Leo Tan, Chief Marketing Officer of AIA Philippines.

AIA Philippines Chief Technology Officer, Noel Mendoza, shared various TDA initiatives that the Company has undertaken, emphasizing how the end user is at the center of the project design and development, to ensure ease of use and encourage adoption. This is especially true for projects that have the customers as the end users. “Our customers take the wheel. We will tailor, learn and evolve based on their wants and needs,” shared Mendoza.

As a life insurer with access to huge amounts of data, data and analytics and the use of cloud are also key areas that can help the business. “We will use the data we have for better insights and understanding. We will re-design our business models around the services they will need,” Mendoza expounded. “And finally, everything in the cloud—it’s where digital lives and comes alive.”

A practical and convenient platform

Among all the TDA projects mentioned, the recently launched My AIA platform was showcased in a media briefing, with a walkthrough that highlighted its functionalities. My AIA is an integrated platform where AIA Philippines customers can access the Total Health Solution ecosystem to help them live better, protect better and get better with just a few taps.

Geegee Lopez, AIA Philippines Chief Operations Officer, further explained, “My AIA is our customers’ all-in-one touchpoint where they can manage their protection, continue to choose living healthy, and access health care should they find themselves under the weather or worse, as may sometimes happen. This platform is the first step to demonstrate our commitment to make protected healthy living easy, and there will be more features coming soon, as we continue our design sprints and customer validations. Again, because we really mean it when we say: We put our customers at the heart of everything we do.”

Geared for the future

The ongoing pandemic has presented a lot of challenges to AIA Philippines and BPI AIA, but both companies have been able to pivot efficiently and effectively. TDA, once just one of the company initiatives, suddenly had to be at the front and center, fast tracking the progress of technology and digitalization projects in the pipeline. Despite the challenges of working remotely, these projects quickly got off the ground, with a timely launch that was able to address the immediate needs of the business and its customers.

“As we rebranded to AIA Philippines early this year, we firmly embraced the importance of TDA as a key component underpinning the various pillars of our business strategy,” remarked Kelvin Ang, AIA Philippines Chief Executive Officer. “As we go through transformation on our processes and the development of technology projects, TDA’s influence will not be limited to these, but will also necessitate a culture change, where we adapt agile ways of working as we continue to build a culture of innovation within AIA Philippines. These will all come together to help us fulfill our purpose of helping Filipinos live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.”

Strengthening Information About Fire Prevention with Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance's Webinar with BFP

9:57:00 PM

Just like with our health, prevention is better than cure. One of the best ways to prevent fire and damages on properties is to be informed. This month is the season to be more aware of the surroundings and situations.  The damage of getting your house razed by fire is insurmountable; fires at home can break out anytime and anywhere and can damage livelihood, household appliances, and more. In 2018, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) recorded a total of 14,316 incidents of fire from January until December.

This is why every March is Fire Prevention Month in the Philippines, and BFP’s campaign for this month is safety consciousness among our people every day of the year as a positive preventive approach to a problem that can be solved by more caution, vigilance, sobriety, the exercise of common sense and respect for the law.” It is a campaign that focuses on exercising vigilance at home and keeping oneself knowledgeable on the best way to protect your home and family from destruction brought about by fire.

“Cebuana Lhuillier has always committed to being of help to the Filipinos at all times, and our call for Fire Prevention is a reflection of that, our insurance products that aim to keep our clients protected at all times is a complementary effort to our advocacy for this month,” said Jean Henri Lhuillier, President, and CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier.

PJ Lhuillier’s insurance arm, the Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Brokers, Inc (CLIB), has also expressed its support for BFP’s campaign through the years. It has been a staunch advocate of having Filipinos insured, posting almost a 35% contribution to the total number of insured Filipinos through microinsurance. CLIB has also worked together closely with the Insurance Commission in promoting microinsurance in the country, they have settled over more than 5,300 million claims worth over Php 500 million they have serviced over 16,500 claimants. Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Brokers’, Inc. is also the first and only ISO-certified insurance broker in the Philippines.

Also launched this month in conjunction with the celebration of Fire Prevention Month is a promo dubbed “Panalo ka sa ProtectMax” where clients of the ProtectMax product of CLIB get a chance to win Php 25,000. The promo is open to all clients who will purchase 5 ProtectMax COCs; these 5 COCs are equal to the e-raffle entry. For the promo, 20 lucky raffle winners will be selected and will win Php 25,000.

“This Fire Prevention month, it is very important to drumbeat awareness on fire safety and prevention, and the importance of being protected. CLIB believes that an information and education drive is very important to ensure that everyone is well-informed against conflagration,” said Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Brokers’ Inc., Jonathan Batangan.

For clients who are interested to keep themselves protected without having to go to Cebuana Lhuillier’s more than 2,500 branches, they may purchase Home Insurance via the ProtectNow app or website, just log on to protectnow.com to see CLIB’s full range of products online.

1CISP One of the Top 10 Fastest Growing Coop Insurers in the World

11:38:00 PM

Union is strength and coop is power, the largest cooperative insurance organization in the country, 1Cooperative Insurance System of the Philippines (1CISP) is one of the fastest-growing insurance cooperatives in the world and this is based on the prestigious International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation's (ICMIF) 2018 rankings.

1CISP President and CEO Roy S. Miclat revealed this achievement during a press briefing held at the Romulo Cage in Makati City last December 4.

Published last November 20, ICMIF's Key Statistics Report surveyed its largest and fastest-growing members across product and regional line, with 1CISP among the top performers, placing 8th for fastest-growing life insurers, and 17th over all for emerging markets, at a 23.8% premium growth from 2016-2017.

out of ICMIF's network comprised of 197 members world wide, 1CISP is among only a handful of Asia-based members with growth stacking up against the international rankings.

"ICMIF is one of the industry benchmarks we hold ourselves to, as they only global representative body of the cooperative and mutual insurance sector," Miclat shared. "And their 2018 report validates the sustained momentum 1CISP has achieved," he added.

Miclat also announced that 1CISP breached the 2-billion-peso mark in terms of total assets in the third quarter of the year. The insurance cooperative registered total assets of Php2.04 billion as of end September 2018, a huge 50% growth from the Php1.36-billion asset level in the same period last year.

With this asset surge, 1CISP has outpaced the 18-20% overall growth of the local insurance industry, according to Miclat.

"1CISP, in comparison to corporate insurance counterparts, is growing at a remarkable rate, and believe it or not, this is not an isolated phenomenon in the country. It is a lot more common across the world than previously thought, with a precedent since 2007," said Miclat, citing the ICMIF outline of industry trends.

Based on ICMIF analysis over a ten-year period (2007-2017), ICMIF members not only experienced exponential growth, but also outperformed the overall insurance industry average, including non-cooperative insurers. The Key Statistics Report outlines, "ICMIF members have grown at a significantly faster aggregate rate than the global insurance market as a whole. During this 10-year  period, ICMIF members increased their collective premium volume by 39.3%, considerably greater than the total market average, which grew by a total of 16.8%."

"these numbers speak for themselves and support 1CISP's mission - a prosperous Philippines is a cooperative Philippines," Miclat stressed. "while we take pride in reaching greater heights together with our peers in cooperative insurance, we are even happier that cooperatives are getting the credit they deserve," he added.

Miclat also gave an overview of 1CISP's 2019 business forecast, projecting an upward trajectory in the wake of their 2-billion asset milestone. "cooperatives have been succeeding away from the limelight all this time, but our time to shine is now. We want to show everyone that Philippine cooperatives are making their mark both here and on the world stage, as globally-competitive organizations," he concluded.

This comes as 1CISP is injecting new vigor into the local cooperative movement through initiatives such as the 1Koop Leaders Academy, an upskilling training program for future cooperative leaders; and the Coop Kicks, a contest for young innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas on cooperative ventures. Launched at the 14th National Cooperative Summit in Davao city last October 3-5, these programs were officially kicked off, with 1CISP set to host in 2019 a tri-city HR Summit to modernize the cooperative enterprise, and a youth pitch fest, respectively.

1CISP is also sending a delegation to the biennial ICMIF Asia and Oceania Association (AOS) Seminar 2018 on December 6-7, in Hong Kong. Slated to speak and interact with youth, Miclat, with other cooperative insurance heads, will lead the Morning Meeting by CEOs and Young Attendees.

Tackling the theme "Impact of Digital Innovation," the AOS is a forum for exchanging invaluable insights, with 1CISP representing the Philippines as the champion for tech-adoption among coops and engaging the youth.

9:48:00 PM

It seems that people are trying to search for their perfect match. Some of them tried different approaches in looking for that right match. Some ends up with the right one and some ends up continuously looking. In reality, looking for that right match is hard but of course you'll find it eventually at the right moment and at the right time.

Just saw this ad from one of the insurance company in the Philippines right now, Sunlife, and their tag line for this June is "Find Your Perfect Match" and since according to them June is the Financial Independence Month. So, have you found or met your perfect match?

Actually there's a saying that 'nobody is perfect', indeed it is true but most of us are striving to be perfect by having our life planned out. And that's where financial planners or advisors comes in. They give us options on what we are ought to do with our lives. Of course it helps out because you'll have someone to ask or inquire of what you must do.

Sunlife is just one of the companies that provides that option and it is up to us whether we believe in their promise or we'll just pass it by. No one dictates us but we are not getting younger and preparing for the future is just a must.

So, whatever insurance companies your planning to go with just make sure that you're wholeheartedly ready and prepared to decide. What is important is your future, our future, and most importantly your family's future.
