The holiday season is upon us, and while the festive spirit is in the air, finding the perfect gifts for your loved ones can sometimes be a daunting task. However, spreading joy doesn't have to come with a hefty price tag. In this guide, we'll explore a myriad of thoughtful and budget-friendly gift ideas that will make this Christmas special without breaking the bank.

Personalized DIY Gifts:
There's something truly special about receiving a gift that someone has put time and effort into creating. Consider making personalized DIY gifts like homemade candles, photo albums, or hand-knit scarves. Customized Gift Baskets:
Putting together a custom gift basket allows you to tailor the present to the recipient's interests. Whether it's a coffee lover's dream with various coffee blends, a spa day at home with scented candles and bath salts, or a movie night basket with popcorn and favorite snacks, personalized gift baskets are both thoughtful and economical.

Indoor plants make for charming and budget-friendly gifts that keep on giving. Not only do they add a touch of nature to any space, but they also contribute to improved air quality. Deck the Halls Disaster: 5 Christmas Catastrophes You Can't Afford to Ignore!

11:34:00 PM

'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring... except for you, as you prepare to navigate the festive minefield of the holiday season. As we delve into the jolly jamboree that is Christmas, it's crucial to remember that even the most spirited celebrations can take a wrong turn. To ensure your yuletide cheer doesn't turn into yuletide chaos, here's a list of five entertaining yet cautionary tales—what NOT to do during this most wonderful time of the year.

1. The Carol Catastrophe: Musical Merriment or Festive Faux Pas?

There's nothing like the sound of carolers serenading the neighborhood with joyous tunes to set the holiday mood. However, there's a fine line between spreading cheer and causing a cacophony. Picture this: you and your enthusiastic friends decide to spread some festive joy by forming an impromptu caroling squad. Yet, your intentions are drowned out by off-key renditions of classic carols, causing neighbors to question if your festive spirit is actually a festive faux pas. Avoid this merry mishap by tuning up your vocal cords before embarking on a caroling escapade. A harmonious holiday is a happy holiday!

2. The Tinsel Tangle: A Decorative Dilemma Unraveled

Decorating for Christmas is an art form, but there's an art to it, and then there's overdoing it. Beware the tinsel tangle—a festive faux pas that involves drowning your living room in so much tinsel that it resembles a glittery winter wonderland gone wrong. Sure, the idea is to create a dazzling display, but too much tinsel can transform your home into a festive vortex, where even Santa might lose his way. Strike a balance between festivity and functionality, ensuring your decorations enhance the holiday spirit without turning your home into a tinsel-themed obstacle course.

3. The Gift-Wrapping Wrath: A Tale of Tape and Torn Paper

Ah, the art of gift wrapping—an endeavor that can either showcase your artistic prowess or reveal your total lack of it. In the pursuit of perfection, many fall victim to the gift-wrapping wrath, a calamity that involves excessive tape, torn paper, and a general disregard for the laws of aesthetic appeal. Don't let your presents resemble a crime scene. Take a deep breath, measure twice, cut once, and for the love of Rudolph, invest in decent wrapping paper. Your gifts should exude elegance, not look like they've survived a tussle with a pack of festive reindeer.

4. The Mistletoe Mayhem: A Kiss or a Crisis?

Ah, mistletoe—the botanical wingman of the holiday season. While its presence can add a dash of romance to Christmas festivities, it's crucial to navigate the mistletoe tradition with tact. Mistletoe mayhem strikes when the line between innocent tradition and awkward encounter is blurred. Before you go hanging mistletoe in every doorway, consider the implications of creating a kissing hotspot. Ensure everyone is on the same page, and always prioritize consent. Remember, a stolen kiss might sound like a festive fantasy, but it can quickly turn into a mistletoe-induced maelstrom of misunderstandings.

5. The Gingerbread Gaffe: Baking Blunders and Sweet Rescues

Baking gingerbread cookies is a beloved Christmas tradition, but the path to gingerbread perfection is riddled with potential pitfalls. The gingerbread gaffe occurs when overzealous bakers attempt ambitious cookie designs that defy the laws of physics and taste buds. A gingerbread Eiffel Tower may seem like a festive feat, but in reality, it's a structural disaster waiting to happen. Stick to shapes and sizes that won't send your gingerbread dreams crumbling. And if disaster does strike, fear not! Embrace the chaos, and remember that even misshapen gingerbread can taste like a slice of holiday heaven.

In conclusion, as you waltz through the winter wonderland of Christmas festivities, keep these cautionary tales in mind. Whether you're caroling, decorating, gift-wrapping, stealing kisses under the mistletoe, or baking gingerbread delights, a dash of awareness can transform potential pitfalls into hilarious anecdotes. May your Christmas be free from merry mishaps, and may your holiday season be filled with laughter, love, and a touch of the unexpected—just not too much unexpected!

From Tradition to Celebration: The Origins of Christmas Ham

1:30:00 AM

In the realm of festive feasts, few dishes hold the iconic status that Christmas ham does. As families gather around the table to celebrate the holiday season, the succulent aroma of ham often takes center stage. But how did this delectable tradition begin, earning its place as a Christmas culinary staple?

The roots of Christmas ham trace back centuries, with its origins deeply intertwined with cultural practices and seasonal festivities. One prevailing theory suggests that the tradition of serving ham during Christmas can be linked to ancient pagan celebrations. In many cultures, pigs were slaughtered during the winter months, and the meat was cured and preserved to ensure a stable food supply throughout the colder season.

As Christianity spread across Europe, the practice of feasting on ham during the winter months continued, blending seamlessly with the Christmas festivities. The timing of these winter pig slaughters coincided with the Christmas season, giving rise to the association between ham and the holiday. The salt-curing process not only preserved the meat but also imparted a distinctive flavor that became synonymous with Christmas indulgence.

The specific term "Christmas ham" began to gain popularity as the dish became a focal point of holiday celebrations. In medieval England, for example, the tradition of serving a boar's head as a centerpiece during Christmas feasts was well-established. Over time, this evolved into the more familiar ham we know today, as the boar's head was gradually replaced by the easier-to-obtain and equally delicious ham.

Fast forward to the New World, and Christmas ham continued to evolve. In the United States, the Southern tradition of serving ham during the holidays became deeply ingrained, with many families adopting the practice during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The influence of Southern cuisine on Christmas ham spread throughout the country, solidifying its place as a beloved holiday dish.

Now, as we approach the Robinsons Christmas Ham Festival in 2023, the tradition of celebrating with this savory delight takes center stage once again. Robinsons Antipolo Main Atrium will host the festival's kick-off on December 9, 2023, at 3 PM, inviting families and food enthusiasts to revel in the festive atmosphere and partake in the joyous occasion.

The Robinsons Christmas Ham Festival pays homage to the rich history and cultural significance of Christmas ham, offering a platform for local communities to come together in the spirit of merriment. This annual celebration not only showcases the culinary delight of Christmas ham but also highlights the diverse ways in which this tradition is embraced and reinvented across generations.

As we immerse ourselves in the upcoming festivities, it's worth noting that the Christmas ham tradition is not just about the delectable flavors but also about the shared moments and the sense of continuity it brings to our celebrations. Whether glazed, smoked, or honey-baked, the Christmas ham has transcended its humble origins to become a symbol of togetherness and joy.

"Love at First Stream” on Christmas Day

9:04:00 AM

Celebrate Christmas this year with Star Cinema and kumu’s first ever collaboration movie “Love at First Stream,” an official entry to the 2021 Metro Manila Film Festival.

Topbilled by today’s rising stars Daniela Stranner, Anthony Jennings, Kaori Oinuma and Jeramiah Lisbo, “Love at First Stream” revolves around the new normal, where life is wildly digital. They are the Stream Team: the unstoppable dreamer Vilma (Daniela), the loyal lover boy Tupe (Anthony), the sweet girl-next-door Megumi (Kaori) and the bad boy heartthrob with a heart of gold Gino (Jeremiah).

Helmed by blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina, the film showcases these young characters and how they experience romantic relationships, family and fight for their ambitions and dreams.

The film marks the first ever lead roles of Daniela, Anthony, Kaori and Jeremiah in a film after they were launched as artists of Star Cinema’s talent management arm, Rise Artists Studio, in 2019. Daniela first showcased her acting prowess in the ABS-CBN teleserye ‘Make it With You,’ opposite Anthony, who starred in Direk Cathy’s last project prior to this film, the digi-movie series ‘The House Arrest of Us.’ Kaori, a former housemate of ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Otso,’ has been in several television and digital series projects including the ‘Four Bad Boys and Me’ in 2020 and the phenomenal series ‘He’s Into Her’ early this year with Jeremiah, who’s also part of ‘Make it With You.’ Jeremiah also starred in the hit movie ‘Four Sisters Before The Wedding’ and recently topbilled an ‘MMK’ episode featuring the life story of ‘PBB’ ex-housemate Ralph Malibunas.

‘Love at First Stream’ also marks Direk Cathy’s first ever film to be part of the MMFF and her movie comeback after ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’ in 2019. More blockbuster films under Direk Cathy’s helm include ‘Four Sisters and a Wedding,’ ‘The Hows of Us,’ ‘She's Dating The Gangster,’ and ‘My Ex and Whys.’

Since the announcement of ‘Love at First Stream’ in July, it has been an interactive and immersive project as search for other cast members and even singers to record the movie’s official soundtrack were done via kumu campaigns.

“We found a way to make kumu users part of [the movie],” said Paolo Pineda, kumu’s Chief Commercial Officer. “Not necessarily the big stars, but they can star in the movie, they can sing the song for the movie and a few more things. It’s all in the grand plan to make this a movie the Kumunity can be proud of.”

Joining the cast of ‘Love at First Stream’ are Agot Isidro, Hyubs Azarcon, Igiboy Flores, Melissa Gibbs, Pinky Amador, Almira Muhlach, RJ Ledesma, Gail Banawis and Vien King in their introductory roles, with the special participation of Tonton Gutierrez.

Nothing’s gonna stop us to DO MORE, DREAM MORE and LOVE MORE with ‘Love at First Stream.’ You may catch it in your favorite cinemas starting December 25 Christmas Day, following minimum health and safety protocols.

So, pandemic or not, the yuletide season goes on with us, just like the spirit of Christmas shared by SM Supermalls with a list of merry-making inside their malls.

SM Supermalls brings the same spirit of  Christmas for its shoppers with a series of inviting Christmas celebrations, of course, all while implementing the strict #SafeMalling protocols as mandated.

It's indeed a ChristmaSaya sa SM with its line of activities and places to visit like the Christmas Village which runs from Nov 5 to Jan 6, the Christmas Feast, Christmas Markets and different Christmas Shows that all run on the same date. The SM Bears of Joy is perhaps a different one because of its significance for each and every child because it will be available from Nov 12 until December 25. Like what they usually do, more and more kids will be given that smile and the Christmas spirit.

So, here are the full details of every event inside SM Supermalls.

Christmas reimagined. To help reignite and uplift the hearts & spirits of Filipinos this holiday season, SM has reimagined safe bonding experiences with dazzling indoor and outdoor attractions that allow for picture-perfect shopping and dining activities for the whole family from November 5 to January 6. There will be Christmas markets, parks and villages, Santa appearances, character meet and greets, Christmas medleys, magical firework displays & drone shows, and other surprises. You can also look forward to an online Simbang Gabi which you may attend with your loved ones via SM Supermalls’ official Facebook page on https://facebook.com/smsupermalls/.

Noche Buena favorites during SM Holiday Resto Week. Noche Buena is the hallmark of every Filipino’s Christmas Eve celebration. Now that you’re able to celebrate with your loved ones, make this year’s Christmas spread more festive with delicious meals & treats available at SM. From December 13-25, you can look forward to SM’s Holiday Resto Week and enjoy special treats, promos, and exclusive deals from your favorite restaurants and food merchants.

Explore, shop, and win at SM Christmas Saya Village. Though online shopping has become more accessible during the pandemic, we still find ourselves missing the experience of being physically present at the SM Malls. With that in mind, SM has made shopping and dining much more safe, convenient, and exciting by launching the SM Christmas Saya Village! Register online at [microsite] or through SM Supermalls’ Facebook page to join this fun tech experience where you can play and create your own avatar to immerse yourself in a virtual Christmas zone at SM– from dining & shopping, to exquisite Christmas centerpieces and a fun play area! Plus, you can collect coins to redeem tons of exciting deals and vouchers from SM. Just be sure to pre-register from November 5-14 so you can enjoy an online shopping experience on a whole other level! This promo, which will run from November 15 to December 25, is not to be missed!

Share smiles with SM Bears of Joy. This pandemic has taught us to share what we have with those who have less. Every year, SM Supermalls and the Toy Kingdom come together to give shoppers a chance to share the holiday season cheer with children in need. Starting November 12, shoppers can purchase the bears at P250 per pair – one to keep, and one to be donated to charity. This simple act of kindness can go a long way, especially during a time when empathy is needed most.

Happiness comes in a different form, as for this year SM has come with a different shape fo happiness for everyone to enjoy the holidays.

SM implements strict #SafeMallingAtSM protocols nationwide and offers an equally convenient online shopping option with the SM Malls Online app on the Google Play or App Store. For more information, visit www.smsupermalls.com and follow @smsupermalls on all social media accounts.

3 Created Reasons Why We Attend and Celebrate Christmas Parties

8:39:00 PM

In just few more days we will be celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Early this month and until the day before the Christmas Day or even after that day, we attend Christmas Parties. Probably some of us, couldn't get that schedule because of the invitations from friends, companies and relatives. In other words we're here there and everywhere, especially if you're really that lucky person who is just loved by many.

Beyond that celebration do you really know why parties are created in the first place? Well, probably we often missed that because sometimes we all do is get to the venue and start eating or drinking. Chat a bit and boom where off again to another party.

So, I just have this few ideas that I want to share why parties, particularly Christmas Parties, are created. Of course with a bit of a created story about it.

1. To reconnect. Yes, in some, there are Christmas parties set to create connections with friends and relatives. It is not just music, booze and foods but it's also about reconnecting to your long lost friends or getting closer to them.

2. To getaway. Probably for the working class, the yuppies, or the millennials, Christmas parties are one way of getting away from the load of life or work. You get to have fun, enjoy and laugh even for just few hours of your life.

3. To relax. Yes, for some people parties are their way of getting relaxed. You get to stay at your seat and enjoy the program, the music, the performances and of course the raffle, which is definitely will get you relaxed specially when you won the grand prize.

These are just the 3 generals things that reasons out why we all attend and celebrate Christmas parties. Of course, there are also other reasons like have fun, boast around your new dress, or because fo the prizes that will be raffled.

So, whatever your reasons just be sure that you enjoy and be a blessing to others.

Ortigas East Christmas Street Musical Light Tunnel Lights Up For the Holiday

10:48:00 AM

Probably I'm one of the expectant of the lighting ceremony of the Ortigas East Christmas Street Musical Light Tunnel, not just because I was invited but looking forward to seeing this musical light show. So, good thing I was there to witness and have some photos under it.

Ortigas & Company leads in welcoming the most wonderful time of the year in Metro Manila once again as it opened the Ortigas East Christmas Street Musical Light Tunnel to usher in the holiday season on November 4, 2019.

Set to light up the premier developer’s Ortigas East estate in Pasig City, the Christmas Street Musical Light Tunnel will brighten the holidays for the whole community with an enchanting light display playing alongside well-loved Christmas songs. With this show, families and friends can come together to celebrate the joy of the holiday season within the bustling estate.

“Ortigas & Company continues its rich tradition of ushering the Christmas season for the whole community by bringing back the Christmas Street Musical Light Tunnel at Ortigas East. This one-of-a-kind spectacle aims to bring together families and friends inside the bustling estate to celebrate the holidays and inspire hope and joy for all during this yuletide season,” says Jaime E. Ysmael, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ortigas & Co.

To light up this holiday spectacle, famed musical troupe Buganda Drumbeaters, students from Meridian International Business, Arts and Technology (MINT) College, the Rosario Zooombrgy of Pasig City, CCF Saints Dance Ministry, and employees from Ortigas & Company unveiled the lights and musical display through a series of festive musical numbers during the launch.

In addition to the lights and musical display, a mural to be designed in collaboration with students from MINT College will be unveiled in front of the Silver City 1A building during the holiday season. Titled EVERYTHING COUNTS, the mural aims to inspire environmental awareness among the whole community and invite them to come together to take immediate action towards environmental conservation and preservation.

Guests are also invited to take part in the festivities in the estate through the #OrtigasEastDanceChallenge, an activity where families and friends are encouraged to dance to the lights and sounds of the Christmas Tunnel and post their videos online. Those who come up with the most creative dance videos stand a chance to win prizes. Guests can visit and follow Ortigas East on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/OrtigasEastOfficial/ for more information on the contest mechanics.

There will also be a StrEAT Food night market open every night from 6PM to 10PM starting November 5, 2019 until January 5, 2020, where foodies in the Metro can gather to enjoy their favorite Filipino street eats. Foodies are also encouraged to bring their own utensils to the night market in support of the estate’s focus on eco-friendly and sustainable standards.

A variety of holiday activities are also happening inside the estate’s retail destination, Tiendesitas, where families and friends can gather to enjoy the fun and festive celebrations within the bustling community. Guests can kick-off the holidays as they visit the Gift of Wonders - a larger-than-life installation that will awaken the Christmas spirit during the gift-giving rush at the Food and Pet Village.
