Pops Fernandez Marks 40 Years in Showbiz with "Always Loved" Concert

Pops Fernandez is set to commemorate her 40th year in the entertainment industry with a two-night concert entitled "Always Loved" at the Theatre at Solaire in Paranaque City on February 9 and 10, 2024. It's a chance for fans to join in the celebration of her four-decade-long career.

In a recent statement, Pops shared her thoughts on reaching this incredible milestone, saying, "I actually did not expect myself to be in the business this long. I usually say 10 years is okay, but here we are, I lasted this long. There are so many things that happened to me, my life and career."

The concert promises a blend of nostalgia and contemporary beats, featuring special guests who have played significant roles in Pops' illustrious music career. While she's keeping the guest list under wraps, she did spill the beans about the involvement of Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano, who have been pivotal figures in her singing journey.

Reflecting on her solo performances, Pops mentioned, "I didn't enjoy it all til I got separated. It was easy for me to perform with Martin because he was there, now I realized I had to perform on my own."

She shares, "For the concert, I will do a new fast song, something current, and you'll also see me perform 'Get it Poppin!', a song that may get appreciated by the new generation."

BGYO Elevates the Excitement on "Darna" OST "Patuloy Lang Ang Lipad"

Old Darna OST out, New Darna OST in! BGYO joins this generation’s Darna in her flight against great danger with the group’s rousing rendition of “Patuloy Lang Ang Lipad,” the main theme song of the new ABS-CBN Entertainment series, “Mars Ravelo’s Darna.”

Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate’s latest P-pop offering conveys the excitement and confidence in the program’s titular character, Darna played by Jane De Leon, who embodies heroism, love, and compassion for the people of the fictional Nueva Esperanza.

Released a day before “Darna” simultaneously premiered on television and online last August 15, the soundtrack has already earned over 136,000 streams on Spotify and almost 100,000 views on YouTube. It also charted as the leading song on iTunes in the Philippines, Singapore, UAE, and Saudi Arabia immediately after release.

BGYO performed the track in a live performance on “ASAP Natin ‘To” featuring the powerhouse cast of “Darna.”

Kapamilya singer-songwriters Angela Ken, Trisha Denise, SAB, and Lian Kyla penned the lyrics of “Patuloy Lang Ang Lipad” with ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo who also produced the song.

The series meanwhile continues to be the talk of the town with viewers anticipating Darna’s challenging fights against Extras in the coming episodes and her growing friendship with Brian Robles (Joshua Garcia).

Are you one of the viewers and fans waiting for that moment?

The eagerly-anticipated transformation of Jane De Leon as the new Darna has finally happened last Friday (August 19), capping off the pilot week of the ABS-CBN series that also saw the death of Leonor (Iza Calzado), the first Darna.

The #LipadDarna episode revealed how the white mythical stone found its way back to Narda—now an emergency medical technician—during a rescue mission caused by an earthquake in Nueva Esperanza.

Despite having qualms about fully embracing her destiny as a superhero, Narda bravely swallowed the stone, triggering her Darna alter ego and saving those who were trapped in the quake’s rubble.

The momentous scene shot up the hashtag #LipadDarna atop the local Twitter trend list and at the second spot in the worldwide list, with netizens primarily praising Jane’s performance, the costume, and visual effects.

After the episode, JRB Creative Production also released the official poster of the series, which shows Jane in a fierce battle stance while fully clad in her red and gold Darna ensemble that also earned positive feedback online for its high quality.

During Monday’s episode, viewers were introduced to the mysterious characters of Javier Toledo or Lindol Man (Dominic Ochoa) and Master Klaudio (Joko Diaz), who helped Ding from men trying to attack him. Will they be friends or foes to him and Narda?

Meanwhile, Regina (Janella Salvador) and Brian’s (Joshua Garcia) alliance in trying to expose the corruption of Mayor Zaldy Vallesteros (Simon Ibarra) continues after they found out that Toledo was the chief engineer of the collapsed building during the quake.
