Grab Philippines Launches GrabBayanihan Vaccination Support Program

8:35:00 PM

Something good news for all! Grab Philippines launched its GrabBayanihan Vaccination Support Program to help increase vaccine access and education for Filipinos. The program includes a range of measures to encourage all consumers and driver- and delivery-partners to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Grab Philippines will also work closely with the national and local government units and leverage its ground fleet network and app to offer mobility, communications, and logistics support for their respective vaccination programs.

In a recent survey conducted by Pulse Asia, it revealed that 61 percent of Filipinos don’t wish to get inoculated with a COVID-19 vaccine even if the shot is available. GrabBayanihan Vaccination Support Program is focused on vaccine access and education. As the Philippines begins to roll out vaccinations, Grab is committed to supporting informed and equitable access to vaccines for all Filipinos.

Access: To support easy access to the COVID-19 vaccine and to encourage its employees, partners, and consumers to get vaccinated through the local government units, Grab Philippines is committed to:
  • Work with local and national governments to include Grab driver- and delivery-partners in the National Vaccination Program of the Philippine Government as economic frontliners.
  • Work with its partners to provide pre- and post-vaccination telemedical consultation to help identify the comorbidity status of its driver- and delivery-partners, and connect them with their local governments for inoculation.
  • Extend its Post-Vaccination Livelihood Protection insurance policy free of charge to cover the potential loss of income to driver- and delivery-partners resulting from COVID-19 vaccine side effects.
  • Create a specialized fleet of vaccinated driver-partners to provide discounted mobility solutions for senior citizens and high-risk individuals or those with comorbidities going to and from vaccination centers.
  • Subject to vaccine supply availability, Grab Philippines will subsidize the cost of COVID-19 vaccines for driver- and delivery-partners who are not covered by the national vaccination program.
  • Cover the cost of COVID-19 vaccinations for all Grab Philippines employees and their immediate family members.
Education: Grab Philippines is working closely with the Department of Health to provide up-to-date vaccination information to combat misinformation and boost public confidence in COVID-19 vaccines.
  • Together with the Department of Health, Grab Philippines will publish accurate vaccine and other public health information within dedicated high-visibility spaces in the Grab app.
  • To help governments better understand the public sentiment around vaccines, Grab Philippines will launch a “COVID-19 Snap Survey”. The survey will enable the Department of Health to conduct lightning polls to gather real-time data on vaccine sentiment. Grab hopes this will enable public health authorities to better tailor their vaccine strategy.
  • Grab Philippines will also conduct a series of workshops and town halls to educate its driver-, delivery-, and merchant-partners on the benefits of getting vaccinated.
Grab Philippines Country Head Grace Vera Cruz said: “Many of our kababayans spent the last year making enormous sacrifices for our communities - showing the best of who we are as Filipinos. Now that we are gradually striving towards socio-economic recovery, we believe that the vaccination efforts- from both the private and public sectors- provide much-needed hope for many of our kababayans. Through Grab Philippines’ technology, platform, and partnerships, we are reinforcing our commitment to supporting livelihoods, and helping the recovery of our communities.”

Pilipinas Shell, Grab PH Partnership to Spur Mobility and On-Demand Delivery in Cebu

1:56:00 AM

A partnership to spur mobility and on-demand delivery services. This is the teaming of two companies and this is what they are doing for the domestic economy of Cebu as they prepare for gradual reopening and providing services to continue playing their roles in driving economic activities across various industries and supply chains. Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation, the Philippines’ longest-running energy company, and Grab Philippines, Southeast Asia’s leading superapp, have come together to provide support to Grab’s driver- and delivery-partners who play a key role in supporting Cebu’s longer-term socio-economic recovery through safe and reliable mobility and delivery services.

(From L: Randy del Valle, Pilipinas Shell VP and General Manager for Mobility; Mandaue City Councilor Jun del Mar; Grace Vera Cruz, Grab PH Country Head; Gines Barot, Grab PH Head of City Operations; Arvin Obmerga, Pilipinas Shell Mobility Marketing Manager; Ivan Ples, Pilipinas Shell Mobility Territory Manager for Metro Cebu; Rolyn Tomarong, Pilipinas Shell Non-fuel Retail Manager; Vanessa Ejercito, Pilipinas Shell Fuelsave Brand Manager; Kenneth Balansag, Grab delivery-partner; and host Christine Fabian)

Pilipinas Shell and Grab Philippines will collaborate on a range of initiatives benefiting thousands of Grab driver- and delivery-partners in Cebu, helping them save up on their daily expenses and maximize their earnings on the Grab platform.

Through this partnership, Grab driver- and delivery-partners in Cebu will be able to enjoy exclusive fuel discounts at Shell stations, and avail budget-friendly rice meals in Shell Select Stores as low as PHP 30.00.

Grab delivery-partners will no longer need to queue behind other cars and vehicles, as Shell has also dedicated special biker lanes to ensure that their vehicles are well-conditioned to continuously serve the consumers and support merchant-partners in Cebu.

To support their medical consultation and insurance needs, select Grab driver- and delivery-partners - who have maintained a monthly average re-fuel of 200 Liters and 50 Liters, respectively, for at least six months, can also qualify for insurance and telemedicine services via the Shell Go+ Pro Loyalty Program.

Lastly, Grab driver- and delivery-partners in Cebu may also apply for Shell-subsidized scholarships for their children - easing their worries on tuition fees and allowing them to make the most from their earnings on the Grab platform.

By providing meaningful support to Grab’s driver- and delivery-partners in Cebu, Pilipinas Shell and Grab Philippines aim to encourage and motivate driver- and delivery-partners to be on the road and help local businesses continuously serve their consumers - opening up revenue streams for these enterprises that are just getting back on their feet.

“We welcome this opportunity to partner with Grab Philippines to help restore mobility and reinvigorate the economy of Cebu,” said Randy Del Valle, Pilipinas Shell’s Vice President for Retail and General Manager for Mobility. “We recognize the important part that their Grab driver and delivery-partners play in restarting businesses and bringing essential goods and services to the public in a safe and reliable manner. Pilipinas Shell is committed to this partnership which will help mobilize this city’s progress and economic recovery for years to come.”

“We are committed to supporting the needs of our driver- and delivery-partner communities in Cebu as they play an essential role in helping local businesses better reach and serve their consumers, and providing safe transport services to many Cebuanos who need to be in their workplaces to perform essential economic activities. By working together with Pilipinas Shell on a range of meaningful initiatives, we are able to continue helping our driver- and delivery-partners with their everyday needs, and we hope that they will continue to be on the road to serve the needs of our kababayans in Cebu, and contribute to the city’s broader socio-economic recovery,” says Grab Philippines Country Head Grace Vera Cruz.

Grab launches Salamat sa Ani initiative to encourage more Filipinos to give thanks to loved ones and frontliners, and support local farmers

10:32:00 PM

Furthering its commitment to leveraging its technology and platform to create a positive social impact on the lives of many Filipinos, Grab Philippines, together with Zagana - the Philippines’ leading agri-social enterprise is launching its Salamat Sa Ani initiative on 17 March 2021.

Through the Salamat Sa Ani initiative, Grab is leveraging its technology and platform to encourage more Filipinos to show care and gratitude to their loved ones and frontliners who have been helping them to cope with the challenging times. At the same time, the initiative will also provide support to the farming communities that Grab helped digitalize since the Enhanced Community Quarantine phase, as contents of the Salamat Sa Ani gift sets are sourced directly from Zagana farmers in Benguet, Pangasinan, and Cavite. Each Salamat Sa Ani gift set - which includes fresh corn, bananas, and lime, is exclusively available on GrabMart for only PHP 299.00.

Salamat Sa Ani is one of the latest GrabForGood initiatives led by Grab Philippines where Grab’s technology and platform are leveraged to support the needs of the Filipino communities and help improve their lives and livelihoods. During the height of the pandemic, one of the key GrabForGood initiatives led by Grab Philippines is GrabBayanihan - a program that leveraged Grab’s technology and platform to provide much-needed support to driver-partners, frontliners, displaced individuals, farming communities, and local governments.

Leveraging Grab’s technology and platform to help local farmers overcome supply chain challenges

As highlighted in the June 2020 Report of the World Bank, the supply chain of fresh produce and agricultural products in many parts of the Philippines was greatly impacted since the implementation of the lockdowns. With limited logistics options for transporting the produce from the farms to the public markets and groceries and the sharp decline in customer foot traffic in physical marketplaces, the livelihoods of Filipino farming communities - as well as the food security across many households, were at risk to certain points that farmers were forced to throw away their produce.

Through Grab’s technology, platform, and its partnership with the Department of Agriculture and Zagana, fresh produce from farming communities were given wider market access through the Grab app through the Department of Agriculture’s 2020 Program Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita. Now, with a few taps on the app, Grab consumers get to enjoy fresh produce from local farmers, delivered straight into their doorsteps in as quick as less than an hour and at the same time supporting the local farming communities.

For Benguet-based farmer Ardan Copes, the partnership between Grab and Zagana provided new technology to farmers like himself who are used to traditional models for distributing and selling their produce. His main challenge when the pandemic hit was that there were too many vegetables wasted due to the absence of buyers brought by the quarantine. Copes shares that “through Grab’s technology and platform, Zagana farmers like himself were able to better reach and serve new consumers.” The partnership also gave farmers like Copes “a good market price for their produce which is why they did not hesitate to join the platform.” Copes adds that they “were able to continue with their livelihood despite the challenges of ECQ, which gave them a huge relief.”

Co-creating positive social impact within and beyond the Grab platform

Committed to contributing towards the Philippines’ longer-term socio-economic recovery and development, the Grab platform not only provides its consumers with the everyday value and convenience, but it also allows its users to co-create a positive social impact - within and beyond the Grab platform, with every transaction made on the Grab app.

With every order of fresh produce made on the Grab app, users are able to support the livelihoods of tens of thousands of driver-partners, MSMEs, and local farming communities who are also facing the socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic has truly impacted a lot of lives. Our partnership with Grab has allowed us to continuously serve our customers and support our local farmers, by leveraging Grab’s platform and technology to provide our kababayans access to fresh produce, delivered right at their doorsteps while providing livelihood for both the delivery partners and local farmers during these uncertain times,” said Zagana Chief Executive Officer Joshua Aragon.

“Using our platform and technology to help improve the lives and livelihoods of many Filipinos is what differentiates Grab as a community partner. We are grateful to have made a difference in the lives of millions of Filipinos through our GrabForGood program and we will continue with our commitment of using technology and our platform to encourage meaningful collaboration within our communities and help our kababayans overcome their daily struggles,” says Grab Philippines Country Head Grace Vera Cruz.

Announcement from Grab with the Temporary Suspension of GrabCar Services in areas under MECQ

12:05:00 PM

We're being slightly strict quarantined and because of that many of the services will be temporarily suspended to follow the government's announcement of placing the entire Metro Manila, Laguna, Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ). This started last August 4. Grab temporarily suspended its GrabCar services which started Aug 4, 12MN. In light of this development, Grab, along with its partners, will continue to support our communities - the driver-partners, merchants, frontliners, and most especially our kababayans staying at home.

Safety
Grab will continue to implement its GrabProtect program to raise its bar of safety and hygiene to ensure that our communities remain safe, especially during this period. In partnership with the National Taskforce Against COVID and the BCDA, Grab will continue to provide free tests for its driver and delivery partners to ensure the safety of everyone in the platform and our communities as a whole.

Support
Grab will continue to provide livelihood security for our driver-partners as we transition them to help serve our delivery fleet services. Grab is also looking into the prospect of having our driver-partners provide mobility solutions to our hospital partners as a dedicated shuttle fleet for their medical frontliners. Likewise, Grab will continue to provide mobility solutions to our corporate and merchant partners so that their staff can continue to provide essential services during this MECQ. For driver-partners with existing loans, Grab is working with its institutional partners to extend payment holidays on their respective loans. Grab will also create donation streams for our communities who are impacted by the suspension of public transportation.

Services
For our customers and their families who are staying at home, Grabfood will offer free delivery during this period to ensure that they continue to have access to daily meal options for themselves and their loved ones. To continue providing safe and seamless access to daily essentials for our communities, GrabFood and GrabMart will remain operational from 6 AM - 12 MN depending on merchant-partner availability, while GrabExpress will remain operational 24/7. Likewise, GrabPay will continue to provide safe and convenient cashless payments to help our kababayans fulfill their transactions while staying at home.

Grab and Uber Some of the Causes of Traffic in the Philippines

6:18:00 AM

In the rise of the heated talks about Grab, Uber and LTFRB regarding the idea of fining of amounting to millions, I just came to a realization. At first it didn't crossed to my mind but lately with the increase of problem with traffic, I realized that Grab and Uber became one of the causes of heavy traffic.

I'm also a user of Grab and Uber user I definitely know the conditions of this cars. Yup, most of these cars are brand new.

Here are my realization why Grab and Uber in the Philippines became one of the reasons why traffic became worse.

1. Theoretically Grab and Uber operators are supposed to be existing owners of vehicles to be used as alternative means of public transport but practically Grab and Uber became the reasons to buy more cars.

2. Because of the testimonies of Grab and Uber drivers and operators on how they profit  from it, many individuals bought brand new cars for use in Grab or Uber.

3. Remember that when Grab and Uber became known traffic just worsen.

4. I'm not sure which is which, the cost of vehicles lower because of the potential business with Grab or Uber operators or the rise of Uber and Grab made vehicle companies to lower their cost. Either which vehicle sale scaled up.

So, is my analization makes sense or not?

Whatever nay be the cause of the traffic perhaps it is high time for the government to take this seriously. Move, act and do things for the country not for the wallet. Travel time of 5 to 6 hours a day to and from is nit economically healthy.
