This is perhaps one of those movies that will made you think more than once and if you could request to play it back again. It is not your usual island story film that will give or lead you to theorize and guess in an instance. This movie is titled as "Serenity". From the first few pictures you'll definitely find serenity in it but the interesting fact is just the tip of the ice cream.


Presented by VIVA International Pictures and MVP Entertainment, “Serenity” is a film filled with thought-provoking scenes that will give its viewers more sense of mystery than serenity.

Its main character Baker Dill, played by Matthew McConaughey (Academy Award Best Actor for Dallas Buyers Club), is a fishing boat captain leading a quiet life in Plymouth Island until his ex-wife Karen shows up with what Matthew has described in an interview as ”a very indecent proposal” .


Karen is played by Anne Hathaway (Academy Award Best Supporting Actress for Les Miserables), is now married to a multi-millionaire named Frank, played by Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Terminator Genisys). Will make an interesting addition to the mystery of the movie.

Talking about her character, Hathaway says that she’s “in a desperate situation” because she is “trapped in a toxic and abusive marriage”. She wants Baker to get rid of Frank by taking him out on a fishing tour and dropping him in the ocean for the sharks.


Hathaway reveals that she and Baker “got together when Karen was quite young”. They had a child, but he went to war and it tore their family apart. “And so she has to figure out what she’s gonna do, being a single mom. She finds this guy (Frank) who kinda reminds her of Dill. He likes to fish. She starts to think like maybe she can build a life with him, and then he turns out to be her worst nightmare come true.”

Baker, who is now romancing Constance, a moneyed beauty of Plymouth Island, played by Diane Lane (Academy Award nominee for Unfaithful), is still trying to move on from his troubled past. But can he truly turn his back on his ex-wife? What will it take for him to forget about his conscience and help her out?
Director Steven Knight (Lock, Redemption), who also wrote the screenplay, attests that “Matthew is the best there is” when it comes to playing Baker Dill. He explains that the character “doesn’t give of himself too readily, someone who’s closed in and I thought that was Matthew. Because of the nature of the twist I want beautiful people…and he’s also beautiful.” As a writer, two of Knight’s best known works are Seventh Son and The Girl in the Spider's Web.

Serenity is McConaughey and Hathaway’s second movie together. The first was Interstellar in 2014.


Asked what drew them to do this movie, Matthew replies, “I saw a character that I could be very personal with, really find an identity that I can understand.” It’s also a well-written story, plus Knight is a writer/director that he trusts.

Hathaway agrees with McConaughey about the story being creative and extraordinary. “I got half-way through (reading) and I have no idea what’s going on, but I’m completely in and I just let it carry me away. And I wind up in a place that was very different than I thought it was going to, but it was a place of feeling and intelligence and soulfulness.”

Serenity was filmed in Mauritius, an island in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of Africa.

It opens in cinemas on February 13.

Spreading early love feels this 2019 ith Black Sheep's release of Sakaling Maging Tayo, a coming-of-age romcom movie with the McLisse love team, Elisse Joson and McCoy de Leon.

This film, Sakaling Maging Tayo, is dubbed as the reunion of McLisse on the big screen. The movie is anticipated by McLisse fans all over the world. Directed by JP Habac.

The film was shot entirely in the cold climate of Baguio. Director Habac was inspired by the classic romantic films like Kung Mangarap Ka't Magising and Labs Kita... Okey ka lang? Habac drew inspiration from the songs that became part of the movie in Pol and Laya's night of dares and possible romance. The soundtrack features songs from artists like Moira dela Torre, KZ Tandingan, Johnoy Danao, and Ang Bandang Shirley.

The movie Sakaling Maging Tayo is about the story of two college freshmen, Pol (McCoy de Leon) and Laya (Elisse Joson), accidentally meet during their last day of school in Baguio City. Laya is about to move back to Manila to escape from her failed romance, while Pol is about to spend a carefree night in a music festival. After witbessing Laya's breakdown because of her recent heartbreak, Pol gets an idea to make her last night in Baguio fun and memorable. Pol also takes this chance to spend an entire night with the girl he has always admired from afar.

What makes the movie more exciting is the spontaneity of the story as they play dare games. From eating exotic food, to getting random tattoo, to confessing deep dark secrets. In the process their little dares eventually lead to confronting their issues and start to a possible romance.

Leading digital services provider PLDT and Directories Philippines Corporation (DPC) have officially opened the 33rd DPC-PLDT Visual Arts Competition (VAC 33) with the theme, “Creating Legacy, Creating the Future.”

VAC 33 invites Fine Arts students, 18 to 24 years of age and enrolled in school year 2018-2019 at any accredited Philippine tertiary school with a Fine Arts program. A cash award of P100,000, among other prizes, awaits the winner.

All entries must be submitted through the schools. Fine Arts colleges, schools and departments nationwide are urged to select as many as five oil or acrylic paintings by their students as official entries to VAC 33.

Fine Arts students are challenged to visualize legacy in a new light. As explained by the VAC 33 organizers, “One is never too young to think about legacy. In a rapidly changing world that is increasingly being driven by younger generations, we need to be more aware of the impact that our day-to-day life decisions—and the values we hold dear—will have on the future shape of our society and the sustainability of our planet.”

Aside from adherence to the theme, submitted paintings will be judged on the basis of visual composition, originality and their suitability as cover of the print telephone directories of PLDT (White Pages) and DPC (Yellow Pages).

All entries must be submitted by 4pm of March 1, 2019 at the DPC Main Office, 2322 Don Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City.

A fresh aspect of this year’s VAC is the introduction of a tandem DPC-PLDT Visual Arts Forum (VAF) Series. “The VAC has always been about supporting young Filipino artists in their formative years in the academe,” explained Chiqui Abad, Head of Home Customer Care at PLDT. “The companion forum series we are launching early next year is an exciting new avenue by which PLDT and DPC would like to deepen this advocacy and our engagement with Fine Arts schools and students nationwide.”

Conceived as a three-part forum series on salient art topics, featuring well-known artists and resource persons, the inaugural VAF will be hosted by a Metro Manila-based school in January 2019. Two other forums will be held in Cebu and Davao in January or February 2019.

Fine Arts students and faculty of the host school and neighboring schools will be invited to participate in each forum. To enable other schools nationwide to join the discussion online, each talk will be livestreamed via Facebook Live powered by PLDT broadband facilities.

If you're an avid fan of mangas and animes I'm pretty much sure that you have already stumbled into the character of Alita. She's one of the admired character who's capable of breaking not only the hearts of her admirers with her angelic face but also the bones of different villaneous chatacters in the story.

Just this month, I was one of the few who were able to have a glimpse of its footages on the big screen. Take note on IMAX. It's a rare opportunity.

Alita: Battle Angel is quite familiar because I was able to have a few reads if its manga and was abke to watched its anime. Honestly, when I saw the footages it's a but different from the anime. So it raised my curiosity to watch the film this coming February.


So not to spoil or something but one of the changes were the middle part when she engaged as an athlete. And of course some few things to make the movie a must watch.

Orange is perhaps one of the colors that is very much warm in the eyes and appealling just like this movie entry for the Metro Manila Film Festival titled as "The Girl In The Orange Dress". What makes Fantastica fantastic? Well, there are few reasons why Fantastica, Star Cinema's entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2018, is fantastic to watch this December 25. Aside from being one of the comedy film entry, the movie is in store some great laughs watch out for. We all know that Vice Ganda does her movie only once a year and she dedicated that in the film festival. This is her way of giving joy, fun and laughter to her fans and to every one.






Reasons why Fantastica is fantastic? Well, let us first get the brief story of the movie.


Fantastica revolves around Bellat that is played by none other than Vice Ganda, who wants to rebuild their carnival called "Perya Wurtzback" to save it from bankruptcy. The perya also serves as their home - Bellat, her mother Fec, which is played by Jaclyn Jose, and her adopted brothers Daks (Ronnie, Pepe (Edward) and Junjun (Donny).

But because of debts, the family gets on verge of being evicted from their land by the family of Bellat's former best friend, Dong Nam, which is played by Dingdong Dantes, until an old friend, Prince Pryce portrayed by Richard Gutierrez, comes and offers a deal - to help him find the lost princesses of their magical land named "Fantastica".  The lost princesses are played by Rapunselya played by Loisa, Maulan which is portrayed by Maymay, and Ariella played by Kisses.




In their preparation for their return to "Fantastica," everyone realizes that the portal needs to be opened and it can be done by gathering ten thousand "palakhak" (clap+laughter), and the only way to do such is to re-launch "The Perfect Show" that "Perya Wurtzback" was once known for.

So the question is will they fulfill everything and save the once dubbed "the happiest place on Earth"?
