A public servant always thinks of ways to serve the people. Things that he or she can offer for the benefit of the constituents. In today's situation, Public Servants are more than what they are, a soldier, or even a nurse, a frontliners that are willing to risk their lives to bring the needs of the people. No matter what the condition is, these Public Servants do their work wholeheartedly, even though they are to celebrate important occasions in their lives.

In the case of Congresswoman Florida "Rida" Robes, one of the working Public Servant that we know celebrates her birthday unconventionally. She commemorates the occasion with a three-day program that will benefit the constituents that put their trust to her. Of course, the activity was done and still, mindful of the government-imposed policies concerning the health and safety of everyone in this pandemic crisis. Everyone was required to wear masks and do social distancing.


Congresswoman Robes' three-day activities were fully loaded with public servant affairs but I'll be highlighting three programs that concentrate with all the mothers like her. Thursday, June 25, she led the distribution of gift packs tagged as "Timba Pa More Para sa Taga-Lungsod," we all know that the 'timba' is commonly used by the mothers in every house. The gift packs are placed inside the timba or pail. Friday, June 26, she gave the "Dagdag Ayuda" program which is meant for a group of lady tricycle drivers. Lastly, today, Saturday, June 27, Congresswoman Robes brought her "Kusina ni Ate Rida" team to feed people in 59 barangays.



This is probably her small gesture of giving back and giving thanks for the gift of life.

When asked why she chose to hold such demanding activities instead of just simply celebrating her birthday, Rep. Robes said, "More than being consistent with my role as a public servant, I wanted to spread happiness among San Joseños whose lives have been drastically changed by the pandemic. It's just a small gesture from me to hopefully assure them that I am working very hard to make sure that each and every person will be taken care of. The new norm in every restaurant, this is probably the best way to keep everyone safe while enjoying our favorite food. As parts of the country steadily ease restrictions on community quarantines, the restaurant industry is also preparing to resume dine-in services which have been placed on hold because of the extended lockdown.

People have been longing to enjoy a meal at their favorite dining places, but many still feel apprehensive and cautious.

Each customer undergoes a mandatory temperature check and passes through a foot bath disinfection mat as they enter the store.

One well-loved Pinoy restaurant that has been preparing to welcome back its loyal customers is Mang Inasal, reputed for its bestselling nuot-sa-ihaw sarap Chicken Inasal. Knowing how much people have missed their favorite Mang Inasal meals and seeking to allay their fears, Mang Inasal has set in place strict protocols to ensure delicious food and safe dining experience for their customers.

Floor markings are placed to guide customers on proper physical distancing.

Anyone who wants to enter the store must wear a face mask. The customer’s temperature will be checked and only those with temperature of 37.5-degree Centigrade and below will be allowed to enter. Sanitizers are provided for customers at the door entrance, counter table, and wash area for their use.

In keeping with the Department of Trade and Industry guidelines, Mang Inasal is requesting customers to fill out a Customer Health Form before being allowed to enter the store.

Counter barriers keep both store crew and customers safe.

For in-store safety, physical distancing is closely monitored as floor markers set one-meter distance for counter queues. Contact-less payment is enforced with the use of acrylic cash tray and acrylic barriers. Meanwhile, foot knobs are used as restroom doors, and regular disinfection of facilities and the sanitation of workers form part of Mang Inasal’s stringent safety protocols.

Dine-in customers are enjoined to be seated apart for physical distancing purposes. One-meter table-to-table distance segregates diners while in selected Mang Inasal stores a table barrier is placed for face-to-face dining.

Mang Inasal encourages electronic, cashless transactions

For customers opting to do cash payments, trays are provided for contact-less transactions.

Store crew sanitize the door and door handles every 30 minutes even as they pursue intensified cleaning and sanitation of fixtures and facilities. Similarly, heightened safety protocols for food preparation and handling—on top of existing procedures that are already thorough—are also being implemented. These include the crew wearing face mask, face shield, and gloves; handwashing and sanitation every hour and when necessary; and the appointment of a Hygiene Ambassador – a crew member wearing an identifying button pin and personal protective equipment and who go around reminding crew and diners of the safety measures. The Hygiene Ambassador himself cleans and disinfects the tables after every use.

To further ensure customer safety, wrapped rice is served for unli-rice orders. Meanwhile, selected Mang Inasal stores have placed barriers on the table for face-to-face dining.

Even the serving of unli-rice has been modified for safety purposes. Those who place unli-rice orders will be automatically served two cups of rice. Should they ask for more rice, the crew in charge will provide extra wrapped rice. Meanwhile pre-portioned condiments are served together with the ordered meal.

All these show that Mang Inasal not only serves good food enjoyed by many, but it also has the safety and well-being of its stakeholders as a priority.

A designated Mang Inasal Hygiene Ambassador reminds the store team to wash their hands every hour and sanitize every 30 minutes. He also conducts the cleaning and disinfection of the dining tables after every use

Finally, I was able to watch the movie "Pay It Forward" in full length. I always hear the title in different financial literacy seminars, and it did lift my interest to know more about the concept. Repaying the help that you get by helping others. Looking at it closely, the young boy character named Trevor created the diagram about the idea, and it is somehow similar to the concept of the networking companies that we know. Each person will have to help three different people, and each of the three persons must help three other people. In a much simpler explanation, it is a matter of cascading down the kind of help to people who are in need.

Help! That's where we all right now we're in a situation that people need help. Probably it is natural for us, Filipinos, extending aid to someone in need, the only difference in today's position is that we are battling a pandemic crisis, in a situation where viruses are unknown and without an antidote.

I'm not sure if Sir Wilbert Tolentino has watched or heard about the phrase 'pay it forward' because I am pretty sure that his deeds are similar to that concept. He is helping more than the three persons through his different initiatives. Only a person gifted with a big heart can do something like this.


If others are moving their help into the physical environment where there is still the scare of being affected by the virus, Sir Wil's aid is running online. The three (3) months of lockdown has indeed made an extreme impact on our lives. It has made our daily routine different from the usual ones that we had. It even put us in a situation where we almost had nothing more to do because of the state we have. From baking to cooking, and to even more advance like painting and hydro-gardening. And unfortunately, we're taking less priority of the exercise. That is why, presently, groups are encouraging other people to join them in an online workout to keep their body fit and healthy. Since we're supposed to do to keep off that dreaded virus we're facing right now.

Some of these workouts are on Facebook or YouTube channels. Individuals or groups do a recorded video where then, later on, upload it on YouTube or do it in real-time by doing a live stream. Sometimes it involves much connection with the viewers or participants if it is on live stream rather than video then upload later.

In doing these exercises, of course, people need to wear the right outfit for the workout. We need to be comfortable while doing the movement. It's either you wear a white shirt that is not too loose of not too tight. Just right and proper for you to do the exercise. You can wear shorts or have cycling shorts. Any of these two would be great as long as you can move freely without the discomfort.



If you're an extremist when it comes to working out, I think there are specialized gears that you need to wear to get that body shape that you want to have.

If you still remember, when you go to the gym, there are trainers or gym buff people who wear a specialized outfit. Those are workout equipment, like the workout waist trainer, where you get more than one benefit. One is that you are protected, in a way, and two, you get to shape your body accordingly but I usually see workout wears that are for the ladies. Probably most of the ladies use it for curving their bodies in the right places.

Talking about body shape, we should not forget that other figures need shaping. Interestingly, some stores provide these kinds of sizes, plus size shapewear is also available for those who want to lose more weights and too many curvy figures.


I'm not that big, and I'm not skinny either. What is important is that I try to find time to do some exercises to keep my body fit and healthy. Two of the many fitness and health coaches that I know will be conducting a 20-day workout where they will use the internet to convey that pocket exercises. According to the two, it is a small pocket exercise that will boost up their body.

I think I'll be doing it as well. I'll start with slow, then, little by little progress.

Singapore electronic producer Xinister collaborates with Los Angeles based Asian-American rapper Blahza on ‘Break,’ released via Singapore based indie label Umami Records.

The lo-fi rap tune emphasizes the importance of staying humble while grinding and hustling for that big break. Blahza shares, “Rappers nowadays feel like they have to be loud and obnoxious to get on. This song has a similar message, but approaches it in an opposite style. Plus, with the whole COVID-19 thing going on now, I feel hating is at an all-time high. People seem to be so quick to point fingers.”

Known for his intense, high-energy trap/dubstep tracks which have already been featured on Spotify’s Bass Arcade, Beast Mode, Dubstep Don, and Trap Mojito, ‘Break’ is Xinister’s first hip-hop production. “I want to be more versatile and to keep pushing myself out of my comfort zone”, shares Xinister. “With ‘Break’, I was going for a chill COVID-19 stay home vibe.
