Shopee's 12.12 Big Christmas Sale Launch and Celebrating Its 5 Years of Digital Acceleration in the Region

9:32:00 PM

Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, wraps up the year-end sales season and marks its fifth birthday by launching its annual 12.12 Big Christmas Sale. Its recent 9.9, 10.10, and 11.11 shopping events set new records and signified the changing landscape and potential of e-commerce in the region. This 12.12, Shopee celebrates five years of digital acceleration in the region and highlights three key trends that have shaped and will continue to drive the growth of e-commerce: Social, Personalization, and Integration.

Martin Yu, Director at Shopee Philippines, said, “Shopee was born with the vision of making online shopping accessible, easy, and enjoyable. We built Shopee from the ground up, listening to people’s specific needs in each of our markets and turning our understanding into well-executed localized strategies that make Shopee what it is today. This year’s 12.12 Big Christmas Sale has added significance as we celebrate our fifth birthday and come together with our brand partners, sellers, and shoppers to support one another through a challenging year. As we look back on our journey, we are proud to have adapted quickly to serve the needs of our local communities.”

This 12.12, Shopee highlights three key trends that will continue to power the growth of e-commerce in 2021 and beyond.

1. Social: Bringing the human touch to online shopping

Advancements in technology, coupled with changing shopper habits, have resulted in online shopping evolving from a transactional experience. Today’s users are more social than ever, and they demand a more engaging online shopping experience with rich and unique content. In 2016, Shopee was one of the first e-commerce platforms in the region to launch a live chat function, Shopee Live Chat, enabling direct conversations between buyers and sellers. Today, an average of 30 million messages are exchanged daily on Shopee Live Chat.

Through the years, Shopee has continuously improved on and introduced new in-app engagement features such as Shopee Games, Shopee Feed, and Shopee Live to make the online shopping experience more social. Shopee anticipates that this trend will stay, with e-commerce increasingly becoming a platform through which people can connect and enjoy shared experiences. Shopee will continue to drive this trend through unique initiatives like Shopee Mom’s Club, which provides like-minded consumers with one-stop exclusive access to baby product deals and parenting content. There’s also a Book Club for a new generation of digital readers in Vietnam and a “Pawrents” club to meet the growing online demand for pet products in Singapore.

2. Personalization: Catering to the ‘Me’ economy

Personalization is critical in e-commerce today. A highly personalized experience makes online shopping more efficient, enjoyable, and unique for consumers, while also helping brands and sellers drive traffic and growth. Shopee takes a hyper-localized approach by running seven different apps in each of its markets and localizing in-app features. Shopee also continually refines its recommendation engines to offer more customized and relevant shopping suggestions to fit consumers’ needs.

For brands and sellers, offering personalized recommendations to shoppers helps increase overall awareness and conversions. Businesses that use Shopee's in-app advertisements generate 65% more sales activity than those that do not. This is powered by Shopee's own AI capabilities, which ensure that advertisements are delivered to the right users.

As the industry progresses further into the ‘me’ economy, businesses need to innovate in order to improve the online customer journey. In the coming year, Shopee also expects to see the rise of smart shoppers, a new demographic of young, tech-savvy individuals who expect a highly personalized online shopping experience.

3. Integration: Creating a seamless customer journey

As retailers adapt to the new normal, they must deliver a seamless customer journey across all touchpoints. Shopee helps brands and sellers of all sizes by providing fundamental operational support through integrated payments and logistics, while creating innovative experiences that value-add to the overall customer journey.

● Delivering an experiential home shopping experience with P&G: Together with P&G , Shopee introduced its first-ever experiential online Show Me My Home initiative, which allowed shoppers to discover and shop for P&G’s popular household items in a simulated household environment. This brought greater convenience for stay-at-home consumers, while mimicking the offline experience of walking in a store.

Yu closed, “2020 has been a transformative year. It has shown us the importance of technology and its ability to not only connect people and meet their basic needs, but also to entertain and engage. We are just at the beginning of our digital journey and looking ahead, we believe e-commerce will have an even more profound impact on businesses and consumers, creating new ways of living, working, and engaging. As we wrap up the year with the 12.12 Big Christmas Sale, let's continue to look out for one another, uplift those in need, and welcome the new year on a high note.”

#LightItForward Is A First Global Filipino NGO Initiative to Pay Tribute to Frontliners

7:59:00 AM

Ground zero for a kilometer count but for most of the Filipinos Luneta Park is one of the historic grounds. It is indeed because not only did Jose Rizal died here but thousands of Filipinos were executed in this park which is formerly known as Bagumbayan. Just the right place to bring a message of hope and solidarity to the world in this time of the pandemic. Last November 30, while the sun is setting and the nation is celebrating Bonifacio Day, the Liter of Light has created giant tableaux of a Philippine flag as a tribute to frontliners.

The flag's outlines are made up of 3,000 sustainable lamps individually assembled by volunteers from all over the country who have united for the project. "This is our tribute to heroism on a global scale, a tribute to all the Filipino frontliners worldwide who have fought to contain the pandemic. It is a profound expression of solidarity with those who have risked life and limb to be in the frontlines of the fight," said Illac Diaz, Founder of Liter of Light and organizer of the event.

I just remembered watching light shows during the start of the Christmas season and they were all amazing but today seeing these giant tableaux of our Philippine flag and sending a message of support and tribute to all the frontliners makes me feel more of the urge to help at least in my own small and simple way.

One  of the famed celebrity, Dingdong Dantes, participated in personally and manually assembling a few of these sustainable light lamp which will be distributed to places where there's no electricity.

In the course of a few weeks leading up to Christmas, the thousands of individual lights making up the image will be rearranged to form equally stunning images of symbolic significance in the global fight. The Philippine flag is expected to be the first in a series of glowing tableaux as other groups of volunteers such as doctors have come forward to express their willingness to create their own tableaux using the individually-assembled renewable lights. The giant tableaux in Luneta Park will be until this weekend.

The Liter of Light is a global grassroots movement founded in the Philippines that is committed to providing affordable, sustainable, solar lights to people with limited or no access to electricity. As the first global Filipino NGO, Liter of Light has brought light to millions of people in off-grid areas across the globe. To Diaz, the organization's programs have also spearheaded a progressive narrative for the Filipino people. - that of a forward-thinking nation capable of contributing solutions to the world's problems.

Diaz has been selected as the Philippines' private sector representative to Expo 2020 Dubai as part of its EXPOLIVE Impact Innovation Program showcasing the work of innovators of global importance. Liter of Light's grassroots platform operates hubs in 32 countries and has positively impacted the lives of over 1.5 million individuals globally.

After the Luneta event, the lights will be distributed to off-grid communities ravaged by typhoons Rolly and Ulysses with the help of partner airline, Air Asia Philippines.

"In the darkness of Covid, stars of hope, exemplified by Filipino frontliners globally, have emerged. Where there is light, there is always hope," Diaz said.

Get To Know More the lives of Salazar sisters 10 years back in ‘Four Sisters Before The Wedding’

1:05:00 AM

The characters of Teddie, Bobbie, Alex, and Gabbie have given us a story where each one of us can relate to their characters and personalities. Different traits and struggles in life. Now, the four are back but this time way younger and probably the time of them discovering their selves. Star Cinema takes us back to the time when these iconic siblings deal with challenges and heartaches in this movie ‘Four Sisters Before The Wedding.’

Topbilled by today’s most promising young stars Alexa Ilacad (Bobbie), Charlie Dizon (Teddie), Gillian Vicencio (Alex) and Belle Mariano (Gabbie), ‘Four Sisters Before The Wedding’ is a prequel to the 2013-hit movie ‘Four Sisters and A Wedding.’

Helmed this time by blockbuster director Mae Cruz Alviar, the prequel movie is set 10 years before their lives in the original movie). Teddie, Bobbie, Alex are in college while Gabbie is in high-school, and their youngest sibling CJ (played by Clarence Delgado) is in elementary.

Their blissful innocence and family unity are tested when they discover that their parents – Mama Grace (this time played by Carmina Villarroel) and Papa Caloy (Dominic Ochoa), whom the audience will be meeting in this movie for the first time -- are once again on the verge of separation. They’ve grown up enough to know that a biscuit offering will not easily solve their parents’ marital problems this time around.

In the original movie, the Salazar sisters were portrayed by Bea Alonzo (Bobbie), Toni Gonzaga (Teddie), Angel Locsin (Alex) and Shaina Magdayao (Gabbie). The characters Mama Grace and CJ were notably played by Coney Reyes and Enchong Dee, respectively. The dad, meanwhile, passed before 2013—this eventually pushed Bobbie to live and work abroad. ‘Four Sisters and A Wedding’ was directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

‘Four Sisters Before The Wedding’ serves as Star Cinema’s early Christmas offering this 2020, despite the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. It was first announced in February.

“Kakayanin ko!” says Alexa when she was chosen to play the role of young Bobbie. The former child star has already appeared in several movies of ABS-CBN Films, including ‘Everything About Her’ in 2016, ‘Finally Found Someone’ in 2017, and ‘Open,’ a co-production of Black Sheep and T-rex Entertainment, in 2018. She has also portrayed remarkable characters in teleseryes like Justine in ‘The Good Son’ and Luna in ‘The Killer Bride.’

For Charlie, playing as young Teddie is “nakakakilig and nakaka-pressure at the same time.” The 24-year old actress has starred in several projects such as ‘Seven Sunday’, teleserye ‘Bagani,’ and the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival entry ‘Fan Girl,’ which recently made headlines as it entered Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan and Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia.

On playing young Alex, Gillian admits: “Masaya at kinikilig ako. Pero habang binabasa ko rin ‘yung script, kinakabahan din ako.” This is Gillian’s third movie with Star Cinema following ‘Eerie,’ wherein she portrayed the Eri the ghost, and ‘Hellcome Home.’ Both movies were shown in 2019. She has also starred in a couple of digital series such as ‘Kargo’ on iWant and Black Sheep’s ‘Hello Stranger,’ which is set to have a movie sequel.

“Very honored and at the same time, pressured, kasi napaka-iconic nung movie,” says Belle. Also a former child star, Belle has appeared in several movies of Star Cinema like ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ and ‘Love You To The Stars and Back’ in 2017, and ‘James and Pat and Dave’ last February.

In a virtual media conference recently held, the four stars were very bubbly and lively in interacting with some of the questions from the press media and bloggers. Seeing the trailer and knowing that these four have been through a lot of experience would definitely push through with the expectations of them playing the roles played by Toni, Bea, Angel, and Shaina. Joining the cast of ‘Four Sisters Before The Wedding’ are Irma Adlawan, Kakai Bautista, Cai Cortez, Jameson Blake, Joao Constancia, Pinky Amador, Minnie Aguilar, Boom Labrusca, Jenny Miller and introducing Jeremiah Lisbo and Gigi de Lana.

‘Four Sisters Before The Wedding’ streams worldwide beginning December 11 via KTX.ph (ktx.ph), iWantTFC (iwanttfc.com), TFC IPTV, Cignal PPV (my.cignal.tv), and Sky Cable pay-per-view (mysky.com.ph). This is distributed by CineXpress.

‘PRIMETIME TODO’ of TV5 Gets More Exciting this November with More Interesting Shows to Premiere

8:01:00 AM

It's an interesting and exciting November for everyone this November as TV5 premieres new and exciting shows. TV5, through its partnership with Cignal TV, will dominate your primetime evenings and bring an influx of fresh and familiar stars as they launch the newest lineup of teleseryes starting this Monday, November 23. Cignal Entertainment, the film and television production arm of Cignal TV, has commissioned Archangel Media to bring Ate ng Ate Ko & Carpool, Cornerstone Entertainment for Stay-in Love, and Viva Entertainment to bring Bella Bandida and Kagat ng Dilim.

Through Cignal Entertainment, TV5 continues to live up to its promise of inspiring and empowering its Filipino viewers with original and remarkable content; offering a wave of new programs ranging from drama, romance, action and suspense. They are likewise, introducing an alternative way that viewers can enjoy their programs through their 9:30 PM primetime block, PRIMETIME TODO.

Now, viewers can enjoy once-a-week series in a variety of genres delivered from Monday-Friday. The PRIMETIME TODO block brings five (5) new shows that will give the viewers a variety of exciting stories to fill their weekday evenings with, namely: Ate Ng Ate Ko (Monday), Stay In Love (Tuesday), Bella Bandida (Wednesday), Carpool (Thursday), and Kagat ng Dilim (Friday).

Undoubtedly, quality entertainment is at the heart of TV5’s core mission as they continue to provide opportunities for people in the entertainment industry and more meaningful reasons to come together, offering viewers access to a wide array of programs.

Popular actors Kris Bernal and Isabelle de Leon make their return on screen as they star in the newest weekly primetime series, Ate ng Ate Ko, alongside Jake Cuenca, Tonton Gutierrez, Joem Bascon, Kim Last, and Phil Noble. The show boasts a dramatic yet cryptic narrative of two sisters whose differences get in the way of their loving relationship. A mysterious incident causes the sisters to switch roles. The story also tackles a psychological condition called ‘dissociative fugue’ which is a rare form of amnesia wherein one loses awareness of their identity or other important personal information. The pilot episode is set to premiere this November 23 and will air every Monday at 9:30 PM on TV5.

Next on TV5’s slew of fresh primetime teleserye is the romantic comedy that will make viewers swoon with excitement. Stay-in Love follows the journey of a young and charming lady, played by Maris Racal, whose dream is to become a maid. As the story unfolds, the audience will be introduced to more characters; all scrambling to get their lives in order and find answers to their troubles. Joining Maris Racal and Ruffa Gutierrez in this light-hearted rom-com are Bobby Andrews, Pooh, Marc David, and breakout artist Kokoy de Santos. Stay-in Love is set to launch this November 24 and will air on TV5 every Tuesday at 9:30 PM.

From the producers of action-packed women starrers “Buy Bust” and “Maria” comes Bella Bandida, an action-drama series loosely based on the classic comic book by National Artist Francisco V. Coching. The series is headlined by Ryza Cenon as Bella Banida, an idealistic doctor who inherits mystical powers and uses them to fight injustice and avenge a heinous crime inflicted upon her by a gang of ruthless men. This series will showcase a different kind of female power. Premiering this November 25 on TV5, it will air every Wednesday at 9:30 PM.

Carpool is the newest suspense thriller series which will tackle the lives of four young individuals portrayed by Sarah Carlos, Alex Diaz, Kate Lapuz, and Kenneth Medrano. The series starts with the four sharing a carpool ride together, that leads them to a whirlwind of tragedy and horrific hauntings that will continue to follow them. The mysteries of Carpool further unravel as a former classmate, portrayed by Elora Espano, is suspected to be behind the events that haunt the four passengers. What is mind boggling though, is that, the said suspect that continues to torment them is already dead. Viewers can catch Carpool on TV5 starting November 26 and will air every Thursday at 9:30 PM.

Kagat ng Dilim, is the 2020 evolution of the horror anthology series in the early 2000s. This time, four of the most talented, young and well-known directors of the genre were enlisted to craft 13 episodes of terrifying tales that have haunted the minds of Filipinos. The stories, created by directors Lawrence Fajardo, Richard Somes, Paul Basinillo and Rae Red, are set to give a new generation of Pinoy horror fans a few more reasons to be afraid of the dark. Headlined by top Viva talents such as Matteo Guidicelli, Cristine Reyes, Maui Taylor & Ella Cruz, the series is launching this November 27 and will air every Friday at 9:30PM.

Ate ng Ate Ko, Stay-in Love, and Carpool will have a next day catch-up airing every 5:30 PM via One Screen on Cignal TV Channel 09 and SatLite Channel 35. Bella Bandida and Kagat ng Dilim will also have its catch-up airings: Bella Bandida starting November 27 airing Fridays at 7:00 PM and Kagat ng Dilim starting November 28, airing Saturdays at 7:00 PM; both via the SARI SARI Channel on Cignal TV Channel 03 and SatLite Channel 30.

What’s more, you can access both One Screen and SARI SARI Channel via the Cignal Play app. Download for FREE for Android and iOS users.

Indeed, Cignal Entertainment & TV5 remain true to its mission in redefining the television experience. These giants continue to showcase Filipino ingenuity and highlight passion by providing its viewers outstanding production. Creativity and collaboration will continue to remain at the heart of Philippine entertainment; and TV5’s Bigger Better BER Months campaign is a testament to that.

iWantTFC's Oh Mando Is Not Your Usual Love Triangle

7:04:00 PM

This is not your usual love triangle, the new iWantTFC original series “Oh, Mando” topbilled by Kokoy De Santos is something different from the common romcom series that you watch. For this particular series, it is something different that lets you relate to the story no matter what is your gender, but of course it is much relatable if you're in the same situation as the characters.

In just a few days after it premieres its episode it has instantly captured fans and left them wanting more, as they praised its relatability, feel-good romcom take on the boys’ love genre, and “very Pinoy” flavor.

Since its pilot episode was made available on the platform, viewers have continuously shared positive reviews about the series on social media and YouTube, particularly about its sharp dialogue, witty jokes, and effective performances.

Twitter user @ikkooza said, “Lemme say it's really refreshing to see a full production BL series in the Philippines, in a full 30+ minute episode. This series is so PINOY, from the scenes and locations, to humor, to the prod design/ music etc. Thank you @DreamscapePH for #OhMando.”

Commending the pilot episode, @AngTerTer posted, “Kokoy de Santos really said ‘I'm one of the best actors of my generation’ as if we don't know that already. Also, #OhMandoEp1 is the strongest BL pilot to date. I said what I said.”

“Galing ni Kokoy De Santos. Equally as talented are the support too esp his friends - Vince and Leslie. Riot yong tatlong to. I can't stop laughing with their lines and how they deliver it. And Alex Diaz, uggghhh sir, pwedeng fishball buddies din tayo?” said @dar_winnnn.

The first episode, now streaming on iWantTFC, finds college freshman Mando (Koko) dealing with sexual confusion and then heartbreak after he meets the dashing, out and proud gay basketball jock Barry (Alex Diaz).

YouTube reviewer Michael Carbon also found the series relatable, expressing his admiration for the element of fantasy and fairy tales used in the series.

“Again, I found a BL series that is really me, that hits home to vulnerable people like us… It shows a part of us because we fantasize. It shows our vulnerability. We tend to have fairy tales, we want to have a happy ending. Everything was just so on-point for me. The dynamic of stories is great,” he said in his vlog.

“We appreciate this kind of series that’s so feel-good. Very light. You laugh and then you get ‘kilig.’Dreamscape’s take on it is great because it has a mix of mature content, and shifts gears in other parts. It’s enjoyable, entertaining, satisfying,” he also added.

In the next episode, Mando deals with his first heartbreak after learning that Barry already has a boyfriend. To move on from Barry, he courts Krisha (Barbie Imperial), a liberated girl who has long set her sights on him.

Standard and premium subscribers can stream new episodes of “Oh, Mando” every Thursday, 9 PM on the iWantTFC app (iOs and Android) or on iwanttfc.com.
