From Olympus to London, Now "Angel Has Fallen"

8:53:00 PM

The action movie genre is just one of the many films that I grew up with and perhaps one of the interesting stories that I like is about conspiracies, elite force, and other things that bring adrenalin rush. For this particular movie, I was intrigue how the story goes. From Olympus to London and now to himself, the fall which happened in "Angel Has Fallen".

So, if you followed the story of Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), the US President's top guardian angel or precisely the Secret Service Agent, you'll definitely know what I'm writing about here. So, for you who have few info or no idea at all, will be filling you up some details about it. It started with the 'Olympus Has Fallen' then followed by 'London Has Fallen', which all had Mike Banning to continue secure the President even though everything around them has fallen.

This year's movie, this agent who is referred to as “the President’s top guardian angel” is going to get beat up yet again, the question is, how will Banning rise from this fall?

Angel Has Fallen is the third entry to the “Fallen” franchise. Mike Banning is selected by U.S. President Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman) to be the director of the Secret Service. But before he could assume his new appointment, Banning finds himself in a crucial position to protect the president as they are attacked by explosive drones.

The next thing he knows, he is already in the hospital, handcuffed and being charged with the attempted murder of President Trumbull. FBI Agent Thompson (Jada Pinkett-Smith) is convinced of Banning’s culpability because he is the only one in his team who survives the tragedy. Hellbent on proving his innocence and bringing the real culprit to justice, Banning escapes capture. As the FBI and his own agency are hot on his trail, Banning tracks down his father (Nick Nolte) to get his help.

Just like in all his previous battles, he must keep his family from harm, keep the president alive, and save the country from imminent danger. The big difference is, he is also fighting for his life.

Directed by Ric Roman Waugh (Snitch, Shot Caller), “Angel Has Fallen” offers non-stop action while taking the audience to what Butler describes as a “much deeper, darker journey” of Mike Banning. Reports have it that two other scripts had been scrapped in favor of this story, which is said to have been inspired by The Fugitive, The Bourne Identity, and Taken.

Butler said in an interview back in 2017, *I couldn’t even see a way to make a third (Fallen film), you know we’d joke about it ‘What, Tokyo? Hong Kong? What is it going to be!?’ …Until this idea came along and until Ric came along – now I’ve gone from not knowing what to do with it, to thinking this is going to be the best one.”

In the same interview, Butler shared that Waugh told him that he wanted to make a movie with him “that’ll be remembered for three generations”. In response to that, Butler said, “Well what about Has Fallen 3?”, and Waugh said, “That’s not what I was thinking!” Butler said to the reluctant director, ‘Read this script, it’s kind of like The Fugitive, take it and let’s put your spin on it’.

Fast forward to May 2019, Waugh posted the trailer of “Angel Has Fallen” on Twitter and wrote, “For years @GerardButler and I have been wanting to collaborate. Damn glad it was this one. It was definitely worth the wait!”

“Angel Has Fallen” is now in Philippine cinemas nationwide. From Viva International Pictures and MVP Entertainment.

5 Reasons Why Cristine Reyes Fits the Character of Maria

11:22:00 PM

If you have seen the movie Maria starring Cristine Reyes, well, good for you, but if you don't like brutality, blood and action stop reading and stick with what you know of Cristine Reyes.

So, why does the movie Maria a very kickass movie to watch? Well, I was able to conceptualize five (5) interesting facts why Cristine Reyes is the best fit for the character of both Lily and Maria. You'll definitely see a different Cristine in this film. She'll be a new lead female action star in an action movie genre.

  • 1. Cristine's beauty can portray an innocent look when needed just like the character of Maria. The sweet, innocent and angelic face is just the right look for the quiet and family-centered Maria.
  • 2. Fierce look when in rage. From innocent to fierce, this is one of the traits of people with the face shape like Cristine. She can be angelic for good characters and can be fierce for antagonists or angry lead roles.
  • 3. Her athletic sexy body sure did look good for a female protagonists. Just like the usual portrayal of every hero or lead character, the slender, athletic and sexy body add ups to being a kickass kicker.
  • 4. Cristine's background in Jiu Jitsu makes her the right actress to portray the badass character of Lily/Maria. The fight scenes are just as fluid as if it is real. No hesitation on the movements and use of armaments.
  • 5. Being a wife and a mother adds up to what should the character of Maria should be portrayed. A more convincing portrayal. Besides there's also a part of some kind of release.

So if you're into action this is a film that you'll be wanting to watch over and over again. Interesting plot, great cinematography, engaging fight scenes, and convincing portrayal.

Cristine Reyes Kicks Into the Action Genre with the Movie Maria

7:46:00 PM

For someone who have seen quite a number of action films, female action stars are really rare and only few actresses get into that kind of genre. It's really badass when female artist took that road. There are few actresses who venture into action, some of them are Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Garner, who kicks and fly into action that really made a huge impact. It's girl power! Specially now that it's Women's Month.

Recently, a media conference of the movie Maria was held in Playhub. An action film helmed by one of the great and internationally acclaimed director, Pedring A Lopez. Maria the movie is produced under Viva Films and I can say based on the trailer is that it's really good. I can compare it with some of the international movies, of course we'll have to watch the whole film to give our proper rating about the movie.

The movie is about a female assasin named Lily who escaped from the wrath of her organizatuin after a failed mission. She flee to a distant province and completely changed her identity and life. She became Maria and build a family with Bert, a reapectable businessman, and their daughter, Mina.

Unfortunately, her past isn't over and her life as an assssin followed her. It led her back into violence after failing to protect her family.

Present during the media conference were, Cristine Reyes, Jennifer Lee, Cindy Miranda, Johana Tongcua (child of Cristine), Ronni Lazaro, Johnny Revilla, YZ Carbonell (writer), Sonny Sison (fighting director) and Direk Pedring Lopez.

Take note how badass Cristine Reyes came into the media conference with here colored short hair but it is not her look in the movie.

During the media conference Direk Pedring shared his respect for Cristine's dedication to her work. Also Sonny Sison, the fight director, disclosed that his really impressed of how fluid their movement during the fight scene. He was convinced that the fight scene of Cristine and Jennifer were real to the point that he asked if they were okay.  Cristine Reyes expressed that for the past 15 years, she has done a lot of comedy and drama films and a few horror movies, Maria is her favorite.

The filming of the movie Maria came easy because of the actresses background in martials. For the character Lily/Maria, it was given to Cristine because she's a mother and a martial arts enthusiast.

Maria also stars Ivan Padilla, KC Montero, Guji Lorenzana, Jennifer Lee, Andrea del Rosario, Cindy Miranda, Freddie Webb and Ronnie Lazaro. Opens in cinemas on March 27. This film is from Viva Films, BlackOps Studios Asia, and PsyOps.

Martial Arts Superstar Jackie Chan heats up the big screen again in his latest action / sci-fi movie, BLEEDING STEEL, which will open in Philippine theaters starting February 21.

Directed by Leo Zhang, the movie tells the story of Special Agent Lin Dong (Chan) who gets torn between his family and his duty. He gets a phone call from the hospital informing him that his daughter who’s suffering from Leukemia is in critical condition. Liza Soberano Is Confirmed as The Newest Darna

3:01:00 AM

Yes, you read it right. Liza Soberano is the newest actress who will play the role of the iconic superheroine created by Mars Ravelo's Darna. Well I got surprised at first, though she was one of the few shortlisted actresses who would be the next to play the role of Darna.

In the news that was out for the public it is said that Liza Soberano will do more than 100 percent of what is expected of her. She should be because the stars who have played the role made an impression to the viewers and fans of Darna. The last actress who played the role was Angel Locsin who was able to par with the standards of the previous actress who portrayed the role like Sharon Cuneta and Vilma Santos. So, will that 100 percent more can level that standard? Let us see.

In my own observation, Liza look and personality fits the character of Narda I just don't know if she can radiate the heroic aura of Darna. Yes, Liza is a versatile actress but there are some things that are left as it is and for this particular iconic superheroine character it seems that she'll be having a hard time to beam up that look.

So we'll just see and expect the best from her and let us hope that aside from the marketing and glam of the costume we will still see the character of Darna or Narda through her.

Oh one more thing, with the filming style of Erik Matti I really don't know how the movie will end up. I'm not sure if Liza already worked with Direk Erik Matti. So there's a big void in the air that needs to be occupied until the full trailer of Darna.

So, what do you think of her being the next Darna? You can comment your reaction and let's see what will be the outcome of this.

8:06:00 PM

Kwento Ni Toto got a good glimpse of some of the cast of "Boy Golden" during one of their mall tour in Glorietta at their Activity Center.  The stage really surprised me very much after the show.  Didn't know that it was like that.

Just as expected people and mall goers are expecting the cast of Boy Golden.  As soon as the show started people started stopping and picked a better place to view their expected artists.
