9:31:00 AM

An updated with the Philippine music industry.  Krizza Neri, the grand winner of Protege launched her first self-titled album.  Check it out and be the judge of her songs.  Read the details below and catch up with the schedule of the "The Protege and the Mentor" Tour.

Press Release
The protégé and the mentor finally released the highly-anticipated self-titled album, Krizza. “Krizza” features most requested songs from Protégé and OPM originals composed by the music icons of today. The carrier single, “Ba’t Di Ko Ba Nasabi” is the original soundtrack from GMA-7’s The Good Daughter. The album has 10 tracks with 2 OPM remakes showing the soulful, edgy and R&B distinct voice of Krizza Neri at her best.

Grand Winner Mentor, Actress and Singer-Songwriter Aiza Seguerra produced the album under her own label Blackbird Music and contributed two original tracks, “Kung Malalaman Mo” and “Look My Way”. “I am extremely happy also that some of the songs from Protégé most requested by viewers are included in the album”, says Aiza.

The mentor shares a song of longing with guitar-accompaniment with “Look My Way” with lyrics from Joel Trinidad creating a beautiful romantic pop-soulful tune. Singer-Composer Nyoy Volante (“No More You and Me”) and Laarni Matta Macaraeg (“Dahil Sa ‘Yo”) completes the romance and inspiration with songs that move and uplift any mood of any day. Jude Thaddeus Gitamondoc contributed preppy youthful songs “French Fries and Coke” and “Don’t Be Too Much” that suits the 16-year old protégé Krizza Neri many of the teens anticipate to relate and sing-along with.

The sweet and soulful Cagayan de Oro native will be celebrating her birthday on June 28 and find its fitting that her 1st showbiz birthday celebration is the release of her debut album. Still in disbelief, Krizza finds herself humbled and extremely excited to have been given an original composition of Mentor Music Maestro Ryan Cayabyab (“Kung Malalaman Mo”) who shared the Protégé winning experience. A song that most people would like to express, “Kung Malalaman Mo” is a song of hidden and unconditional love with varying tempo and melody to lift your spirits.

Memorable songs from Protégé are also included; “Narda”(originally sung by Kamikaze band) and the powerful medley of standard pop birit we’ve seen Krizza Neri sung, “If I Could/Wind Beneath My Wings” and “Could Have Been”. Finally, the Mentor, Singer-Songwriter, Music Icon Ogie Alcasid shares his original song, “Bakit Ka Lumayo” completing the powerful melody of love in the album. Krizza is distributed under Universal records.

Under GMA Artists Center, Krizza Neri appears regularly on Party P every Sunday. She will also be on other GMA shows, bars and several radio stations to promote the album. Emmanuelle’s Dream Comes True

9:17:00 PM

OPM’s newest sweetheart Emmanuelle has undeniably what it takes to make it to this Industry– enchanting singing voice, pretty face, innate songwriting talent. However, unknown to many, this young singer worked very hard to finally fulfill her dreams of having her own album – Universal Records’ latest release Emmanuelle.

“From the first time I auditioned in front of executives of Universal, it took me around four years to finally have my album released,” shares Emmanuelle. “Upon the advise of my management Cornerstone and the label, I had to undergo series of voice lessons, learn to play instruments, write better songs, and pratice my tagalog.”

These sacrifices, according to Emmanuelle, make this album extra special. Aside from being her first release, she feels that a lot of stories are enveloped in this album. The album’s carrier single Happy, a feel-good pop tune, was written by Emmanuelle when she was just 14 years old.

“The inspiration for Happy? Well, one time, my best friend brought me home,” she says. “So, we tried to capture that in the music video with Ivan Dorschner.” Aside from Happy, Emmanuelle penned songs like Dear Diary, and Tonight. She also interpreted songs of Ito Rapadas (Sandali Lang) and Jude Gitamondoc (Sarap Mabuhay). She also has her rendition of the hit ballad God Gave Me You.

Aside from being a gifted singer and songwriter, Emmanuelle is also a promising guitar player.

Pop Rock Princess Yeng Constantino has a special duet with Emmanuelle in the album – Manong Guard.

“Masaya talaga ako na nakasama ako sa album na ‘to,” admits Yeng. “I am extremely happy that Emmanuelle has been given this chance to record some songs that she wrote herself – dun sa aspect na yun, pareho kaming singer-songwriter.”

There’s Something with Karylle’s Smile

11:07:00 AM

Singer-actress-host Karylle has a lot of reasons to smile lately –self-produced Roadtrip album just turned Gold, hosting stint in Showtime, post-Valentine concert Love and Laughter with Christian Bautista was successful, Best Actress nomination from the Monte Carlo Festivals for The Kitchen Musical, and the Best Performance Bronze Medal and Best in Writing Gold Medal the series got from the recently-concluded New York Festivals.

With these, it seems that it is the most opportune time to release her latest single from Roadtrip – I’ve Found My Smile Again. This is the third single after the upbeat OMG and the sweet, sincere Basically.

Aside from record stores, Roadtrip can be downloaded at www.mymusicstore.com.ph, a one-stop mega-shop for all your music download needs, also boasts of exclusive downloads made for MyMusic Store supporters only. It also has a library of thousands of songs and albums for you to choose from.

The song talks about having a reason to “smile” again.

The music video, helmed by ace photographer Raymund Isaac, had its premiere last April 23 on MYX.

“I am really thankful that Raymund agreed to direct this video,” says Karylle. “I really love it. Raymund is a genius!”

On the other hand, Karylle is still ecstatic in the recent win of The Kitchen Musical at the New York Festivals (Gold Medal for Best Writing and Bronze Medal for Best Performance).

“We are all very happy to have won the New York Festivals,” says Karylle. “I was in touch with our director before the awards. Honestly, it didn't cross my mind that we would win but on the day of the awards, I kept praying that we would win.”

Karylle is also nominated in the Best Actress category at the Monte Carlo Festivals. She recounts, “I didn't really want to believe it, since I didn't hear from our TKM group. When I saw the nominations list, I was in disbelief seeing the likes of Tina Fey, Juliana Marguiles, among others to be among the other nominees.”

The Kitchen Musical also emerged as an intermedia-globe Gold Award winner at the 2012 WorldMediaFestival, a global competition for modern media that honours and celebrates excellent solutions in Corporate Film, Television, Web and Print productions on an international scale.

SABRINA GETS SUPERSTAR TREATMENT IN INDONESIA

6:00:00 PM

MANILA, Philippines - Some local artists have tried to penetrate the Southeast Asia market, especially Indonesia. But so far, only two can claim to have really made it there — one is balladeer Christian Bautista and the other one is acoustic singer Sabrina.

Now dubbed as Asia’s Acoustic Sweetheart, Sabrina recently conquered Indonesia again via a special showcase at Supermal Karawaci in Jakarta last March 24. According to MCA Music’s ad and promo manager Grace Foronda, Sabrina got a “superstar” treatment, the way foreign artists are treated in the Philippines. Billboards of Sabrina can be seen all over Jakarta as well as the venue.

“So many people came up to see her show proving she is such a big star in Indonesia,” Foronda said. “It was also nice to see them singing along to her songs.” Mid-way to the show, Sabrina was surprised by Universal Music Indonesia with a Platinum Award for her latest album I Love Acoustic 4 presented by its head of promotion Perry Parikesit.

“I was very honored to have been presented the Platinum Award and I was grateful that it was done in Indonesia. That way, I was able to personally dedicate the award to the Sabrinatics who were the reason behind that award,” Sabrina said. She gladly signed autographs for album buyers after the show. But some fans as far away from the capital city of Jakarta flocked to her hotel just to see her. “Sabrina gamely accommodated the fans and bonded with them despite her very hectic schedule,” Foronda said.

Before the show, Sabrina guested at top radio stations Mustang FM and U FM where she was asked questions ranging from her music to “if she wants to live in Indonesia.” She also performed her latest single Moves Like Jagger in Indonesia’s No. 1 variety show Dahsyat where after her appearance her Twitter followers shot up from 6,000 to 10,000.

First time she was in Indonesia was in 2011 for Kampeong Jazz Music Festival in Bandung followed by a promo for I Love Acoustic 3 in Jakarta which also turned Platinum there then shows at the city of Semarang.

Aside from I Love Acoustic 3 and I Love Acoustic 4, all of Sabrina’s previous albums from the I Love Acoustic series have reached Gold and Platinum success in Southeast Asia. Her first and second albums I Love Acoustic and I Love Acoustic Too were Gold in Singapore and Thailand and Double Platinum in Indonesia while I Love Acoustic 3 is also Gold in Singapore and Thailand. The albums also came out in Malaysia and one of her singles was included in a compilation album released all over Asia.

Sabrina was well-liked by the Indonesians that another show will be scheduled this year in time for her new album which will also be available in Southeast Asia. “They even requested her to record a song in Bahasa Indonesia,” Foronda added.

She dazzled the crowd with songs from her “I Love Acoustic” series which made her a household name not only in this archipelago but also other countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Midway through her set, Universal Music Indonesia surprised Sabrina when she was formally presented with a PLATINUM AWARD for her latest album “I Love Acoustic 4”. Her past albums “I Love Acoustic” and “I Love Acoustic Too” were certified DOUBLE PLATINUM while “I Love Acoustic 3” is PLATINUM in that country at the same time also achieving GOLD status in Singapore and Thailand.

Zia Quizon ‘Favorite New Artist’ at MYX Music Awards 2012

7:12:00 PM

Round ups for the local music industry!

In her few months in showbiz, Zia has already proven that she is more than just the daughter of King of Comedy Dolphy and Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla’s daughter. She has recently been named as 2012 MYX Music Awards’ Favorite New Artist.

Zia’s music, which fused pop, soul, jazz, and retro R&B, has been widely-accepted by the public yielding the hit song Ako Na Lang. She recently launched her new single Dear Lonely, lifted from her debut album Zia. The album has recently been awarded a Gold Record Award.

Simple Girl is also available for download at www.mymusicstore.com.ph. It also boasts of having more than 160,000 songs making it the country’s biggest music download site, where one can get tracks as low as P20.

“I’m proud to say that all the songs in the album were arranged to my style of singing. My producers made sure I was comfortable with singing the songs in the album,” Zia says. “I am happy that people appreciate my music.”

It was no surprise then when Zia chose to cover her mom Zsa Zsa Padilla’s ‘80s hit ‘Mambobola’. “We were throwing some ideas around and I think I actually suggested the song myself. I felt that it would be very nice to have one of my mom’s songs on the album as a kind of tribute to her for all of the things she has done for me.”

Zia also covered Sheena Easton’s ‘So Much In Love’ and Michael Jackson’s ‘Smile’, dedicated to her comedian father Dolphy. “Aside from my mom, I would say that my dad’s taste in music really shaped mine. He influenced me to appreciate the classics—from standards to classical to world music and even oldies.”

MyMusicStore, created to support OPM artists and to cater to Pinoy music lovers, is the ultimate one-stop shop for those who can’t wait to have their music downloads right here, right now!

SABRINA's “MOVES LIKE JAGGER”, “I LOVE ACOUSTIC 4” NOW PLATINUM IN INDONESIA

11:23:00 PM

Asia’s acoustic sweetheart Sabrina releases her follow-up single from her highly successful “I Love Acoustic 4” album—her version of the hit “Moves Like Jagger”.

This Maroon5 & Christina Aguilera single which became a staple song of 2011 will be infused with Sabrina’s own sweet acoustic flavor that listeners will love. Its music video directed by Daphne Oliveros recently premiered at MYX and entered the Top 20 of Pinoy MYX Countdown after only 1 week of airplay.

“I’m so excited about this second single as it is such a fun track,” Sabrina said. “Also watch the music video of the song as it will be different from my previous videos”.

And to add to the good news--- “I Love Acoustic 4” is now certified PLATINUM in Indonesia (the album turned GOLD November of 2011). This makes Sabrina one of the few Filipino singers to have multi-platinum success in Indonesia which other singers have tried but failed to penetrate. “I Love Acoustic 4” was also released in Thailand and soon in Singapore and Malaysia. Her previous albums “I Love Acoustic”, “I Love Acoustic Too and “I Love Acoustic 3” were multi-platinum success in those countries- the only Filipino female singer to break in successfully in the South East Asian market. Her huge following abroad is now translating locally as the album is still in retail charts where it debuted at #1 at Astroplus and #9 at Odyssey upon its first week of release. Because of her success abroad, she became a recipient of the “International Achievement Award at the recent Awit Awards where she also took home the I-Gateway Mobile Philippines, Inc.'s Most Downloaded Artist for 2010.

The album also includes the tracks “Price Tag,” “Who Says”, “Edge of Glory”, “On The Floor”, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”, “California King Bed”, “Hold It Against Me”, “Rolling In The Deep”, “The Lazy Song”, “Back To December”, “That Should Be Me”, “Marry Me”, “Rocketeer”, “Just The Way You Are” featuring Indonesian singer Calvin Jeremy and “Lucky” featuring multi-platinum crooner Richard Poon.

Asia’s Acoustic Sweetheart Sabrina returns to Indonesia this March 24 for a show at Supermal Karawaci in the capital city of Jakarta. You may also catch Sabrina here on March 31 (Saturday), 5pm at SM Molino. Those who will buy her album “I Love Acoustic 4” will get to have their CDs autographed by Sabrina herself after the show.

“I Love Acosutic 4” by Sabrina is now out in CDs under MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines) and available for download at mymusicstore.com.ph.
