Tunog Transcom Tayo Year 2 Rocks The Night Away with Music and Talents

6:59:00 AM

One of the big companies running in the Philippines, Transcom Worldwide Philippines, raves their more than 2,000 employees to a night of good Pinoy music. Transcom Worldwide Philippines’ Manila sites gathered at the Metrotent Convention Center in Pasig City last September 14, 2019 to celebrate camaraderie and togetherness in the second year of the company’s MusicFest dubbed as Tunog Transcom Tayo.

It's a night of more than the booze but of talent and the love for music. These number of employees sung and enjoyed the night. It's not always working, so for this time, it's about having their night off from work and of course the cause.

The event was graced by live performances from various well-loved Filipino musicians and bands such as Ebe Dancel, Mayonnaise, Chiquerella, Sponge Cola, Where’s Ramona, This Band, Ben&Ben, and Aegis.

"As we've been transforming our business in recent years, creating a positive culture where our folks can express themselves has been and continues to be a key focus. Tunog Transcom Tayo, our annual MusicFest, is just one building block in the foundation that is Transcom Tayo and sits alongside our annual CSR activities, our support for the LGBTQ community and our HIV & AIDS awareness campaign in conjunction with The Red Whistle,” said Mark Lyndsell, Transcom’s CEO for the Global English Region.

This is also the second year that a Karaoke-inspired singing contest which Transcom coworkers participate in was incorporated in the music event.

"Our awesome multi-talented coworkers are placed at the heart of Tunog Transcom Tayo and have been auditioning for months as part of our very own Viral Voice competition. Filipinos are known across the globe for their musicality and singing abilities and this is no exception here at Transcom where our finalists will be showing off their talent alongside bands such as Sponge Cola, Ben&Ben, and Aegis,” Lyndsell further shared.

Tunog Transcom Tayo is sponsored by Seda Hotel, Caronia, Jergens, and Liese.

The Rise of Classical Rock

6:18:00 PM

How many music lovers this days are into classical?  Perhaps few because of the different genres available in market today.  What if classical music mixed with rock?  Would you think present generation would love it.  Perhaps!  But what if the musician is as good looking is this artist, David Garrett, perhaps ladies will forget about those present boy bands.

Meet David Garrett,  a virtuoso violinist and crossover musician.  He's a star everywhere from the catwalk to the Billboard charts.

He moves between two musical worlds... and it seems as if two hearts are beating in his chest: David Garrett in the world of classical music celebrated his international breakthrough.  But that was not enough.  he has finally re-invented.  With his crossover albums he conquered the rest of the world and sparked enthusiasm everywhere.  After his spectacular success in the pop-rock world, David Garrett presents his new album "LEGACY" - a classical recording of Beethoven's Violin Concerto.

LEGACY has made a historical chart debut in Germany, entering the Media Control Chart at #6!

This is the Highest Entry for a classical instrumental album in the history of the German charts!  It's a sensational result, proving again that David Garrett is an artist at the top of his game in both worlds - classical and crossover.  The debut for 'Legacy" at #6 is the highest for a classical instrumental recording since Media Control charts were launched in Germany in 1962.  The album has also charted in the Top 10 in Austria at #9, and in the top 20 in Switzerland at #18.

DAvid Garrett is Juilliard grad who at 14 became the youngest soloist signed to the prestigious classic label Deutsche Grammophon and joined the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra three years later.

This international superstar has quickly amassed a huge and devoted audience - especially of a much younger fanbase than the listeners usually associated with classical music.  His fresh, vibrant take on classical music has shot new life into this genre.  he has gained international stardom, with chart-topping albums and gold and platinum selling discs across Europe, in the UK and the Far East.  The superpowered David Garrett has experienced huge success with American audience as well.  Not only was he Billboard's best-selling Classical Music Artist of 2009, but was the #9 overall New Artist across all genres.

Garrett's unique, and wholly individual style, pays as much homage to Metallica as to Mozart.  His albums cover an incredibly diverse selection of repertoire, representing his love for many gneres, and the ability to tackle each successfully.  Garrett could have easily had a mainstream classical career, but instead chose to reinvent himself as both a classical and a crossover performer, trailblazing a unique career path as a rare multi-genre artist who reaches out equally to politely murmuring black-tie classical audiences in gilded concert halls, and to the hundreds of thousands of boot-stompin', hand-clappin' masses of all ages that pour into venues across the world to hear him play Smooth Criminal and the Habanera from Carmen.

Videos, fan sites and other media of Garrett abound on the internet, but what you won't see in cyberspace is the atmosphere of relaxed enthusiasm that spreads throughout his audiences, or the scores of children that leave his concerts holding Garrett's CDs in hand, wearing his official tour t-shirt, and begging their parents for a violin.

David Garrett's Legacy is now available in major music stores nationwide.  Exclusively distributed by MCA Music Inc.

Slow Rock, Hijo's Definition

8:50:00 AM
Edited

If you were ask the definition of Slow Rock what would it be?  For sure there will be dozens of it but for Hijo they define it well and simple.

Read their definition below and the details about their album....

Life is about moving on. And that was what Nathan Azarcon, Ira Cruz and Vic Mercado did when their former band Bamboo ceased being a group. With their passion for music, they decided to form their own group in late January 2011—a band they would eventually call Hijo.

“The name Hijo was suggested by Vic,” Nathan said. “It is short for HIJO dePuga"

Nathan, aside from playing bass now mans the vocals with Ira and Vic still doing the same thing they are good at- guitars and drums respectively. But adding to the band’s members are Radioactive Sago Project’s Junji Lerma on guitars and Wowee Posadas (who replaced Jay Orduna) on keyboards.

For people to get a taste of their music, Hijo released an EP entitled “Slow Rock Vol. ½”which they tag as “Kung-Fu Rock”.

“It is slow rock… and we wanted a funny title for it. It’s so dark as it is,” Nathan said.

Compared to their previous experience with their former bands, it was a different recording process for the group especially for Nathan, Ira and Vic.

“Working with the band is just amazing. This is the first time the three of us recorded most of our parts separately. We already had a formula for laying down tracks but this time we pushed ourselves and went the opposite way. I love how it all turned out. It’s still us. Plus, of course, with the addition of Junji and Jay o, it sounded fresh. Working with Shinji Tanaka and Eric Perlas was pretty cool,” Nathan said.

“Slow Rock Vol. ½” contains four tracks like “Tamalee” which is about insatiable greed; “Di Mo Na Kaya”- a song on separation and loss; “Torquemada”- about pain and torture and “Dahil Sa Iyo” which speaks about love. The videos for “Tamalee” and “Di Mo Na Kaya” are currently playing on top music channels in the country.

“The music videos are amazing. Direk Jason Tan and Erwin Romulo is the shiz. We have a good team,” Nathan said.

Though a lot of bands have been mushrooming left and right, Hijo belies they have the traits that differentiate them from others.

“We are in our prime. Kung baga sa modern warfare, veteran. We pack light, hit hard, retreat, regroup, we adjust and then we attack again. Such is the nature of the pride,” Nathan said.

“Slow Rock Vol. ½” is now out under MCA Music in CDs at leading record bars nationwide or online via mymusicstore.com.ph. To download Hijo’s music on your mobile phones, just text HIJO to 3456.

This compilation is released under Star Records.  Yeng’s latest album includes songs that she personally hand-picked.  In her desire to pay tribute to her great musical influences like Eraserheads, Apo Hiking Society and Rey Valera; she chose all-Filipino hits close to her heart as a singer and songwriter.

Bum's Search For Rock and Goth Cosplayers

2:21:00 PM

Cosplay has been an unpopular event in recent years.  Most of them were laughed about and considered as disturb personalities.  But that was a few years ago and now Cosplay has been recognized and adored by so many most especially the teens of this generation.  Aside from it as an event and a venue to recreate one’s self it has become also as basis for some fashion trends that are worn by Cosplay enthusiasts.
Most cosplayers bear more of the personality and character that is being portrayed by an individual.  It is like copying and mimicking in a creative manner.

Now, more and more clothing companies are riding the band wagon of cosplay effect and BUM is one of them.  After their successful “My Story” they will continue it with the cosplay design that encourages cosplayers and fashionistas to create a fashion based on the likes of their famous anime, manga or other characters.  So to mark this fashion assimilation, Bum is opening a contest for young Filipinos through their website. The local clothing brand is inviting young stylephiles to show their individual interpretation of the Cosplay trend by using pieces from Bum. While interested participants are allowed to wear their take on their favorite anime characters, the total ensemble should have shades of Emo Rock and Goth.

BUM products (apparel) should be the core component of the costume design based on the character of choice. Costumes may be enhanced by accessories such as wigs, make-up, contact lenses, and other props. If they're feeling a little bit more creative, computer graphics may also be used in the photo layout to enhance the costume/character (with the BUM logo prominently seen in the photo).

Well if you’re interested perhaps a good look of what participants can get will entice them to participate and be part of it.  Here they are Nikon D3000 DSLR Camera, Blackberry 3G phones, Samsung ES80 cameras, and tokens from Bum.  Now isn’t it enticing enough to make your costume design based on the following characters.

Promo period starts from August 8, 2011 to October 30, 2011. Announcement of winners will be on October 31, 2011. To know more about the contest rules and mechanics, visit www.bumequipment.com.ph. Bum products are available at Bum Boutiques and leading Department Stores nationwide.
