Samsung, Google Cloud Partner for AI on Galaxy S24

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Google Cloud have entered into a new multi-year partnership to introduce Google Cloud's advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology to Samsung smartphone users worldwide. The collaboration kicks off with the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series during Galaxy Unpacked in San Jose, California. Notably, Samsung takes the lead as the inaugural Google Cloud partner to integrate Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI through the cloud into their smartphone devices.

Expressing enthusiasm for the partnership, Janghyun Yoon, Corporate EVP and Head of Software Office of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, stated, "Google and Samsung have a shared commitment to making technology more helpful and accessible to everyone. We are excited to debut the Galaxy S24 series as the first smartphones featuring Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI. Following extensive testing and competitive evaluation, the collaboration between Google Cloud and Samsung has resulted in delivering the finest Gemini-powered AI experience on the Galaxy."

Samsung is the first Google Cloud partner to deploy Gemini Pro on Vertex AI to consumers. Built from the ground up to be multimodal, Gemini can generalize and seamlessly understand, operate across, and combine different types of information including text, code, images, and video. Starting with Samsung-native applications, users can take advantage of the summarization feature across Notes, Voice Recorder, and Keyboard.[ Galaxy AI features may require internet connection, Samsung Account login, and/or update to latest Android version. Galaxy S24 series users can also immediately benefit from Imagen 2, Google’s most advanced text-to-image diffusion technology from Google DeepMind to date. With Imagen 2 on Vertex AI, Samsung can bring safe and intuitive photo-editing capabilities into users’ hands. These features can be found in Generative Edit[ Generative Edit requires a network connection and Samsung Account login. Editing with Generative Edit results in a resized photo up to 12MP. A visible watermark is overlaid on the image output upon saving in order to indicate that the image is generated by AI. As part of this partnership, Samsung is also one of the first customers to test Gemini Ultra, Google’s most capable and largest model for highly-complex tasks. The Entertainment Pod displayed a diorama of cinema with the Galaxy Fold5 as its movie screen. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, users can watch videos on one screen and type texts and comments using flex mode in the other half. No need to worry about bulkiness as the Galaxy Fold5 is the thinnest Fold yet thanks to the Zero Gap Hinge.

Sleep better and live healthier with the Galaxy Watch6 series

At the Wellness Den, the new features of the Galaxy Watch6 series were on full display. The Sleep Up station highlighted the innovative capabilities of the Galaxy Watch6’s Sleep Monitoring functions such as the Sleep Scores, Sleep Stages analyses, and intuitive information with Sleep Coaching.

Guests also got active with stationary bikes while wearing the Watch6 to experience its various functions. With the innovative 3-in-1 BioActive Sensor, users can enjoy an efficient way to monitor exercise efforts and check on their health as the Galaxy Watch6 series monitors both blood pressure and electrocardiographic (ECG).

The wide selection of versatile watch faces as well as new one-click band options were highlighted as well at the Straps Station. The DeX Mode corner showcased the Galaxy Tab S9’s versatility – where the tablets can be used like a laptop with a keyboard and mouse, and how users can experience the multi-window functionality and ecosystem connectivity with other Galaxy devices at the Ecosystem Integration corner. The experience was taken up a notch by submerging the devices in an aquarium at the Underwater Writing corner, showing how the IP68 rating of both the Galaxy Tab S9 series and the S Pen allows you to work or play anywhere.

Even the paper used for their packaging box is made using 100 percent recycled material.

Review : Samsung Galaxy S23 Series a Must-Have Tool for Vloggers and Content Creators

Not to step-over with the DSLR Cameras, these smartphones can now serve as alternatives to bulky and heavy DSLR cameras, allowing vloggers to conveniently record their content while on the go without attracting too much attention. Carrying a DSLR can be inconvenient and draw unwanted attention, making smartphones an ideal choice for vlogging purposes. You can also add it's concealment ability, unlike the DSLR camera.

For non-tech-savvy individuals, the camera and memory are usually the most important aspects to consider. A better camera and larger storage capacity are desirable. However, for those seeking functionality and performance, factors like the smartphone's operating system, camera lenses (including the number of megapixels for the front and rear cameras), data storage capacity, and user experience are more significant. That's where most of the details pops out.

Design and Aesthetics

In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy S23 series offers interesting variations. The S23 model, for instance, is great for those with petite hands, easy to hold, while the S23 Plus and S23 Ultra cater to individuals with larger hands. Although the reasons for the differences in design are unclear, personally, I prefer the corner design of the S23 Ultra, which has a more rectangular shape and a masculine appearance. The other two models lean towards a more feminine aesthetic.

In the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, I appreciate the separate design of the camera lenses. Unlike other smartphones that try to integrate and squeeze them into a frame at the back of the phone, for Samsung it opted for individual camera holes, much more pleasing to the eye. It's more likely compared to an artwork that boosts its individuality. Thus, providing a better user experience. One drawback, though, is that the camera lenses protrude from the back of the smartphone, making it unstable when placed on a flat surface. However, using a smartphone case or cover can help level it and it can also be a good problem because these phone can easily pick-up. As for the lenses, I find them excellent in terms of clarity and image quality. Here are some sample videos and photos taken during event coverage.

The super telephoto lens of the S23 Ultra is particularly impressive. Imagine capturing videos and photos from the upper box of SM MOA Arena—the camera's zoom capability remains effective despite the considerable distance. However, images may become slightly blurry and grainy at maximum zoom. Nonetheless, this feature is highly appreciated by bloggers and vloggers who cover events.

Regarding the S23 and S23 Plus, while they can still capture distant shots, both photos and videos may appear slightly blurry, especially during action sequences.

More camera and video feature in the MORE tab of the camera, like the Expert Raw, the Pro cam and Pro Video, Night mode, cam setting for Food, the Panorama option, the Director's View, and you have the options of Slow motion and Hyperlapse, and protrait video. The Operating System

All models in the Samsung Galaxy S23 Series are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, ensuring smooth system performance. This processor is currently one of the best in the smartphone market, according to my readings on other reviews. Though we cannot dive deeper into its details of the processor it is guaranted that this phone is on its utmost superb performance. Whether you're browsing through apps, playing games, watching movies, or capturing photos and videos, you'll enjoy a seamless user experience.

The series also runs on Android Version 13, accompanied by One UI version 5.1. This combination delivers an enhanced user interface, further improving the overall user experience.

Other Noteworthy Features

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra also boasts IP68 water resistance, meaning the phone remains safe even when submerged in water. It can withstand being submerged up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes, making it perfect for worry-free use at the beach or around water.

The materials used in the Samsung Galax S23 Ultra are recycled or repurposed glass and PET film as part of their commitment for the environment, an eco-conscious materials. I think this is their first eco-friendly produced model.

Another feature is the S-pen of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, that makes it a lot easier when doing some details works on arts or simply writing because you prefer to write rather than type it, especially if you have a huge hand.

Battery Life and Charging

Under normal usage, the battery of the Galaxy S23 series can last for approximately two days. However, if you frequently engage in activities such as photo and video shooting, movie watching, gaming, music streaming, and internet browsing, the battery life may reduce to around 12 to 14 hours or even less.

When it comes to charging, the smartphone can reach a full charge within 1 to 1.5 hours. If you're planning a gig or an event, make sure to plug in your Galaxy S23 series device 2 to 3 hours beforehand to ensure it's fully charged.

Price and availability

Of course, all quality products entails good materials and most of the times good materials and technology comes with a price. So, if you have read about the features and its capacity, I'm sure prices does not matter at all as long as you get the quality and the performance you need.

For the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, it is priced at ₱89,990.00 for the 512GB capacity or you can go lower with its 256GB capacity for only ₱81,990.00. Just note that there's only an ₱8,000 difference for a 256GB storage capacity. So, if you're going to buy opt for the bigger storage capacity.

For the Galaxy S23 Plus it is priced at ₱68,990.00. Almost the same quality with just less of some special features. If you could not get the best, then go for the better, which is the Galaxy S23.

For the Galaxy S23 it is priced at ₱57,990.00, a good choice for a start.
