Villa Milagros, A Heritage Home-turned-events Venue Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary

10/02/2019 12:24:00 AM

A place found in an unusual part of Rodriguez, Rizal, Villa Milagros is one of the ancestral houses of the Alta families who decided to restore and convert it into an events place. Covered with so many greens, instagrammable sections, and picture-perfect areas makes it a better place for weddings, pictorials, and other celebrations. Some of the celebrity celebrations already transpired in this venue are Aljur Abrenica and Kylie Padilla, Mike Tan and his non-showbiz wife, Bangs Garcia, as well as fashion designer Francis Libiran and shoe designer Jefferson Si. Having Villa Milagros their venue of choice.

Like any other beautiful and magnificent place, with its lush of greens and majestic mansion,
it always comes with a wonderful romantic story behind it. As the lush of greens and majestic mansion paints the picture of today, it is as well present in the pictured story of the past.

On September 3, 1969, businessman Isidro Liamzon and his wife Milagros celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. After a renewal of vows at Aranzazu church in San Mateo, Rizal —witnessed by their 11 children and other relatives—Isidro presented to his wife the completed mansion named in her honor. It took Isidro five years to have this house built, and the event marked the first time Villa Milagros was used as celebration grounds.

For several years, Villa Milagros served as the Liamzon’s vacation home. In 2015, the family decided to restore the villa and open it to the public. Since then, it has hosted numerous weddings, birthdays, baptisms, corporate events, launches, pictorials, even shoots, and other significant occasions.

“We are proud of the fact that we have kept this place alive for so long,” says Andrea Liamzon-Cote, Villa Milagros Managing Director and granddaughter of Isidro and Milagros. She is also very happy that by painstakingly reviving and maintaining the splendid structure and surroundings, they are able to share the spirit of love, which was the reason why Villa Milagros was built.

Built with a strong foundation of love and heritage, Villa Milagros continuously is keeping the love alive by opening its doors open to guests who would love to experience the beauty of the villa.

To further honor the memory of its founders and also look forward to Villa Milagros’ next chapter, Andrea and her dedicated team are constantly working hard to give their clients the best experience. Andrea says, “We look at the Villa Milagros experience from all angles. It is not only the visual aspect that we take care of. We look at the texture, taste, sound, and smell.”

As such, Villa Milagros keeps strong ties with partners such as Banquets by VS&F and Project Events MNL who are as passionate about creating unforgettable memories and magical moments.

Headed by Chef Joyce Abesamis—who obtained her Culinary Arts degree at Enderun Colleges and trained in Paris, France—Banquets by VS&F is a full-scale contemporary catering service that provides delectable food, timeless banquet set-up and professional hospitality services. The company is rooted in VS&F Catering, a family corporation that has been in the industry for more than 25 years, and is a Wedding Expo Philippines Hall of Fame awardee. Project Events MNL, meanwhile, specializes in clean, classy and contemporary event styling. Weddings comprise a bulk of their portfolio, but the company also styles debuts, launches, and other celebrations.

As part of the tour of the Villa Milagros, we were given a chance to partake in what frequently is offered by their partner Banquets by VS &F. A sumptuous lunch.

An offshoot of the Villa Milagros’ revival is the opening of new opportunities for related businesses and endeavors. Andrea says, “We essentially placed Rodriguez on the map for destination weddings, paving the way for many microbusinesses and individuals to take part in our brand.”

As Villa Milagros journeys into its 51st year and beyond, Andrea, her partners, and their teams continue to reinvent, expand and innovate to meet the changing times.

The "It's Showtime" TV Show celebrates its 10th anniversary with a year-long and biggest celebration. With the return and relaunch of classic segments, magpasikat showdown of hosts, and other environmental advocacies following the legacy of Ms. Gina Lopez.

During the press conference, a lot of things were revealed and shared with the members of the media. Giving a glimpse of what is going to happen in the year-long celebration.

“It’s Showtime” brings its biggest anniversary celebration to date called “Sampu Sample,” a year-long festival of surprises that marks the program’s ten years of making Filipinos happy and invites all madlang people to not just have fun but also help in taking care of the environment and making a difference.

First of the ten surprises is the hosts’ annual Magpasikat competition this October, featuring the following groups: Anne Curtis, Amy Perez, and Bidaman Top 6; Jugs Jugueta, Teddy Corpuz, ‘Ate Girl’ Jackie, Ion, and Stephen; Karylle, Ryan Bang, and GT; Vice Ganda and the Top 3 queens of “Miss Q & A’s” two seasons; and Vhong Navarro, Marielle Rodriguez, and Hashtags.

Each group’s Magpasikat performance is required to bring together ten dozen or 120 madlang people – ordinary Kapamilyas and not celebrities – and be given a chance to shine on national television.

The country’s number one noontime show also looks back on its ten years by relaunching its well-loved classic segments, including the dance competition that produced XB GenSan. “It’s Showtime” will also bring back other segments that kicked off the careers of world-class champions such as El Gamma Penumbra, Fourth Impact, Rachel Gabreza, and the TNT Boys and artists such as Onyok Pineda, Chunsa Jeung, Esang De Torres, GT, Hashtags, and the next Darna, Jane De Leon.

In the coming months, viewers and fans can also expect the program sharing more and more blessings, entertaining segments such as “Mr. Q & A” and “KapareWho” to churn out double the fun, the return of “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” and live shows with the hosts in and out of the country.

For its tenth year, “It’s Showtime” is also pushing for environmental protection and conservation as it challenges the madlang people to support its advocacy project, whose details will be revealed soon.

5 Reasons Why Watch The Movie EDWARD

9/30/2019 02:55:00 PM

One of the films entered into the Cinemalaya Film Festival, EDWARD is an interesting film that portrays not only the life of a young boy turning into a teenager but also tells the reality happening in our government-funded hospital and the public healthcare system. It's a sad story but it is the truth.

The film EDWARD is starred by two actors, one coming from being a child star and the other one is coming from a sweetums role, Louise Abuel and Ella Cruz.  We've known Louise for his role in 100 Days to Heaven, which is a TV Series. While Ella is known for some movies like Fan Boy Fan Girl and the likes.  On this movie, Ella Cruz received her Best Supporting Actress Award from Cinemalaya Film Festival. This is co-written and directed by Thop Nazareno, Young Critics Circle awardee for the 2016 Best Feature Film "Kiko Boksingero".

This October, Viva Films brings the movie "EDWARD" to the mainstream to reach more audience and see the beauty of the film. From the overcrowded, hot and stifling hospital where Edward shouldn't be, he will take everyone to a tour with the current situations of our hospital and public healthcare services. This is a no place for a teenage boy, but Edward has long been stuck in this miserable setting as he is the designated companion of his ailing father.  Learn his story and how a young boy transition in becoming a teenager.

Here are a good five (5) reasons to share why you shouldn't let this movie pass.

1. To understand and realize that movies like these are an eye-opener regarding the state and condition of our hospitals in the country. People confined in hospitals should feel comfortable and treated well but because of the lack of funding (?) and limited staff, sick individuals feel the other way around. Though there are other good public hospitals, still, the percentage of a quality public hospital is not enough to provide healthcare to a number of Filipinos.

2. It is a coming of age movie according to Director Thop Nazareno. A young boy turning into a teenager. From his playful habits to a bit mature deeds. Something to understand and to watch the reaction of Louise Abuel having his first kiss with Ella Cruz.

3. This movie is also for the parents, to give them a much more understanding about their growing kids, most especially the boys, as they grow older and becomes a teenager.

4.  To capture the moment and the reaction of a turning teenager when he's turning into a more grown-up personality and experiencing the unusual far from being a little boy.

5. This movie will let you understand that no matter how hard life is there's always the good side of it that will let you through.

Here's a brief about the movie EDWARD.  Edward treats the hospital premises as his playground. While gallivanting with his friend Renz (played by Elijah Canlas), he sees Agnes in the Emergency Room. In her terrible state, she becomes part of the harmless but naughty game Edward and Renz play -- betting on whether a patient will live or die.

When Agnes moves to the female ward, Edward is drawn to this mysterious beauty who is a bit older than him, so he starts hanging out with her. Unlike Renz who exposed him to random vices, such as drinking and smoking, Agnes opens his mind to her interesting views in life. Because of her, Edward’s days brighten up. But at night there’s nothing cheerful about sleeping under his father’s hospital bed. And it doesn’t seem like his father is being nursed back to health.

“Edward” is a coming-of-age movie which serves as a mirror image of the healthcare system and the government-funded hospitals in the Philippines. Instead of a place where the sick are supposed to feel comfortable, the movie shows how the lack of both medical staff and effective equipment actually adds burden to them and the individuals who watch over them.

Direk Thop says in an interview that he “makes films that (he himself) would like to watch.” He injects humor in his storytelling because he “doesn’t like melodramatic films that much” and that he “(aims) for realism, the truth”. According to him, “In reality, even when you’re sad, you don’t spend every minute sulking. Here, I try to see the humor in the character of a teenager—how does a child see the world as a playground?”

During the press conference, it shared by Viva Artist Ella Cruz that her character in the movie is different from her personality. With Direk Thop's guidance, it was portrayed in a naturally blunt girl who uses vulgar words.

With its meaningful narrative and wonderful actors, “Edward” deserves to be seen in the cinemas. Opens on October 2, 2019.

SANDUGO IS ABOUT TWO FAMILIES GAMBLE ON LOVE AND PRINCIPLES

9/29/2019 10:52:00 PM

An interesting kwento (story) that I will be sharing with you before we strike the first day of the week. Yes, we have some great news to our kapamilya followers as ABS CBN will be airing new shows for the avid fans. It's an afternoon series on the Kapamilya Gold. So, it is called "SANDUGO", which tells about the story of two families gambling on love and principles.

What happens when parents give up their values and principles in order to save their child’s life?

ABS-CBN presents a new, powerful story about two families who are linked by both love and the law, and a disconcerting past marked by poverty and desperation in the afternoon family drama series “Sandugo,” which starts airing on Kapamilya Gold this Monday (September 30).

“Sandugo” features Ejay Falcon and Aljur Abrenica in their starring roles as fraternal twins who will become mortal enemies, with a powerhouse cast composed of Vina Morales, Ariel Rivera, Gardo Versoza, Elisse Joson, Jessy Mendiola, and Cherry Pie Picache.

The new Dreamscape offering revolves around fraternal twins Julius Caesar and Aristotle, fondly called JC and Aris, who have been partners through thick and thin as children.

A regrettable and heartbreaking decision leads to the brothers’ separation.

While JC (Ejay) becomes an NBI agent, Aris lives a life of crime and turns into a syndicate leader.

Brought together again by fate, the two unknowing twins’ new relationship is charged with extreme hostility – going head-to-head from opposing sides of the law without knowledge of each other’s true identities.

“Sandugo” is directed by Darnel Joy R. Villaflor and Ram Tolentino and produced by Dreamscape Entertainment. It also stars Arlene Muhlach, Cogie Domingo, Dido Dela Paz, Jeric Raval, Maika Rivera, Mark Lapid, Nanding Josef, Ali Abinal, Reign Parani, Karina Bautista, Aljon Mendoza, and Ogie Diaz.

Follow a tale of long-lost brothers in “Sandugo” starting Monday (September 30) on ABS-CBN, starting this September 30 (Monday). For updates, follow ABS-CBN PR on Facebook (fb.com/abscbnpr), Twitter (@abscbnpr), and Instagram (@abscbnpr).
