How Kwento Ni Toto was HACKED/HIJACKED

1:07:00 AM

Kwento Ni Toto - Hacked

Just a week ago, KWENTO NI TOTO account was HACKED!!!!

Yes, the Google account that I am using to access Kwento Ni Toto was HACKED but according to Google it is HIJACKED. Yes, basically the account was indeed hijacked because I was totally kicked-out from the account. Whatever form of recovery I actually cannot get access to my account.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN?

Well, when you are curious and you are tempted, things happens like this one. I was curious on how other YouTubers gain access or being contacted by game developers to make a review or test their upcoming games. So, when opportunity (opportunity in disguised with an evil laugh) you just simply try it and grab it. I was tempted of the opportunity, a negotiable opportunity.

Near end August when I received an email from a certain Advertising and Marketing personnel from a game developer company. They were asking if I can do a review and short ads of their upcoming game that is still in beta form. To make the long story short I accepted the offer and went on with the instruction. As I execute the so-called game demo it happened, I was hacked! Totally and completely erasing my recovery email, phone number, and the 2 step verification process.

So, if ever you'll find an email with the same modus, please try to thoroughly research first before getting into action. Another thing when you get a hint that it is something not good, stop and think again.

Watch my vlog to get the full details of the story.

Watch out for the next vlog as I share things I tried in recovering the account and what you should do in case you lost it as well from the hackers.

Carmina Topacio, An Indie Singer-Songwriter to Add on Your Playlist

7:39:00 AM

 Carmina Topacio - Guilt Stricken

I love music, and I love hearing new songs and rhythms from different artists, most especially the indies. Yes, remember the band that I have featured before, the Arkos? Well, I think they are still an indie band. What I like about indies or underground music is that most of them are not limited to the type of music that they are playing. They have this distinct sound and artistry with them that makes them more interesting to listen to.

This time we're featuring another talent, a singer and songwriter, a shy-type of person but blessed with so much beauty and talent, Camina Topacio. Yes, I know some of you might tell 'I have seen her before' and yes, she has been in the limelight before, and probably that was a decade ago. Now, she's back with her latest single entitled "Guilt Stricken."

So, for those who don't know her yet, well, her name is Carmina Topacio. She is an indie singer-songwriter based in Manila, beautiful as you can see and a well-talented musician because she can play the piano, guitar and take note she's the one who produces all her songs. Like I mentioned earlier, Carmina has been in the limelight before, and that was when she was still 17 when she started her own Youtube Channel. She was known for her cover songs like Avenged Sevenfold's 'Afterlife', 'Gunslinger,' and 'Eyes on Me' from the Final Fantasy 8 soundtrack. She also wrote some original compositions like 'I don't want to love another' and 'It's always been you,' all were released on YouTube.

About her song, "Guilt Stricken," is an old school alternative rock type of music. It was inspired by a toxic relationship she had in the past. According to Carmina, "... when a person you love continues to hurt you, the question that keeps repeating in your head is how they could do it and live with it. You wonder if they feel any remorse. The song talks about that, but it could also be interpreted and seen from the perspective of the person who has done wrong and is experiencing the unsettling feeling of guilt. I want to share it because I think a lot of people could relate to it."

Carmina Topacio

Carmina ventured out to Spotify with the first song that she released entitled "By my side," which is basically about long-distance relationships. Since the lockdown, many relationships were affected, and some couples got to experience what it was like being in a temporary LDR. this was released during Carmina's birthday last July 1.

Now, her "Guilt Stricken" song was added to the Official Spotify Playlist, Fresh Finds Philippines. It is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Google Play, and other music platforms.

Last August 27, She premiered her self-produced homemade music video. She shot her scenes with a little help from her siblings and learned how to use Adobe Premiere to edit.

So, that's our featured artist for today, CARMINA TOPACIO. Follow her on her social media or visit her website.

Liwanag Is the Official Name of Ben&Ben Fandom

6:27:00 AM

 Liwanag

The fame and existence of an artist is not just because of his or her works or artistry because of the people supporting the artist, these are the fans. Even the smallest artist in industry has its own fans that supports him or her all the way and because of them that artist does the best in every performance.

As for the band Ben&Ben, after considering the suggestions of their music fans and conducting a careful deliberation process with their management team, Ben&Ben have finally named their official fandom, “Liwanag.”  And would probably call their bashers and haters "Dilim."

The folk-pop outfit chose the Filipino equivalent of its previous fan club moniker, Lights as a reminder that “we can be bearers of hope in these dark times.”

The initiative also celebrates the community’s unwavering bayanihan spirit and optimism to advocate for meaningful change and unity through music, despite the challenges that the nation is currently facing.

Below is the official statement:

"Liwanag" is the new, official fandom name of Ben&Ben! We have heard your suggestions. We want to honor our Filipino heritage, at higit sa lahat, kayo ang Liwanag namin. #BenAndBenLiwanagFandom."

10:16:00 AM

For more than a century, Eastern Communications, one of the country’s premier telecommunications companies, has been part of nation building fighting alongside Filipinos for stronger tomorrow by providing world-class services.

Now that the country is facing yet another challenging situation due to the pandemic, Eastern Communications continues its mission of empowering Filipinos by jumpstarting in the country’s capital city.

With Manila celebrating the National Heroes Day through unveiling of murals in honor of then and today’s heroes in its newly refurbished Lagunislad underpass, Eastern Communications amplifies its strong partnership with the local government by showcasing its mural in the area – a visualization of its strong connections that stand the test of time.

Driven by their High Tech and High Touch promise, Eastern Communications also rolled out initiatives that elevate the internet experience of every Manileño in time of pandemic.

R&B trio brb. brings another music with their sophomore EP, with debut track “my type”

12:41:00 AM

If you have heard of this group, the brb? It's time to get to know the music and the group, to start with is their music, which is by way the second release their album "my type" the group just had its release. Enjoy the songs and music of this Singaporean R&B trio brb. The song is already out on all digital and streaming platforms worldwide which started last August 21.

Beyond the suggestive title, “my type” alludes to navigating the feelings that come with loving someone. Messages of acceptance and understanding are accompanied by a wistful chorus set against a tropical beat that is sure to leave you bopping.

Steeped in radiant electronic beats and soulful production, brb.’s latest jam brims with experiments gone right. But make no mistake: it’s a song that grapples with optimism—the kind that surges with both finesse and adrenaline, but delivered with the occasional oddity that we’ve come to experience from the alt-R&B group’s previous material.

“We hope to introduce a different energy into our upcoming releases. Our EP relationshit was rather somber and we wanted to write happier songs this time round. We’re excited for you to hear what we have in store this year.”

“my type” is taken off brb's upcoming sophomore EP which is slated for release in 2021.

Dominic Chin Releases Single with Hint of His Struggles with Anxiety on ‘ALONE’

12:26:00 AM

Another share of music in the industry as Singapore pop artist Dominic Chin has released ALONE, the 6th single from his upcoming debut EP License To Cry, via Singapore indie label Umami Records.

This is going to be a piece of interesting music for people to listen to as the singer shares a deep personal emotion about how he bare his struggles with anxiety disorder.

“Dear don't let me go, let me go tonight,” he whispers desperately in the chorus, accompanied by a minimalist, gentle electro-pop beat that gives the track its melancholic, intimate vibe. ALONE takes a step back from the dance floor and finds a way to get through life’s darkest tunnels one step at a time.

“The song is about my anxiety order and how it affects all the relationships in my life,” Dominic Chin shares in a statement. “Finding love and peace with good healthy relationships but feeling tremendously undeserving of it, resulting in me wanting to sabotage the relationship. The song talks about feeling conflicted about my relationships, being totally defeated and yearning for some help while I fight my battles with feeling disorientated by all that is going on in my mind.”

The acclaimed Singapore-based artist also clarifies that ALONE is not a song meant to uplift anybody. “It’s a song to let people who struggle with anxiety issues like me to know that they are not alone, and that I too struggle with it on a day to day basis and I’m still here.”

Dominic Chin’s debut EP License To Cry is scheduled for release on 9 October 2020, followed by his debut show at the Esplanade Singapore on 26 December 2020.

Grand Videoke's Bahay-Entablado Singing Community Brings Optimism and Hope

12:13:00 AM

For us, Pinoys, we always find ways to make a dull and gloomy moment filled with joy. No matter the circumstances we are always leaning towards the positive side of every situation.  I'm sure everyone knows Walt Disney and one of his quote would somehow describe in a way every Pinoy.

“Happiness is a state of mind. It’s just according to the way you look at things.” - Walt Disney.

It is indeed a state of mind but for us, Pinoy, it's definitely our way of coping up with the havoc around us. We see the moment filled with a positive mindset, especially now we're experiencing uncertainty because of the pandemic. Though it became normal for a lot of us to focus on the numbers, the things that we can no longer do, and the constant messages that only seem to turn grimmer and grimmer every passing day.

But just like what the talented Walt Disney said in one of his most famous quotes, happiness is simply a state of mind—and this is exactly what Grand Videoke, one of the top providers of entertainment home systems in the country, is trying to drive home by introducing its singing community, Bahay Entablado.

It is probably part of our DNA to always find the silver lining in everything, regardless of what we are facing as individuals and as a country. It is the reason why singing is such a huge part of our culture and why its meaning has been elevated to equal the meaning of family bonding, friendship, celebration, and of course, happiness.

“Bahay Entablado is our way of inspiring hope,” Jin Cortez, Grand Videoke Marketing OIC shares. “We are used to having our videoke sessions in large groups, but we say happiness doesn’t need to stop just because we are far apart from each other right now. Why not turn your very own home into your own stage?”

Enjoyment does not need to be complicated and Grand Videoke’s newest campaign is a good example of this. Besides starting a creative competition among its participants, it is also aimed to inspire others to follow suit and pursuit their own enjoyment in the comfort of their own homes.

“We’re hoping that by doing this, we can show others that there really is nothing that can stop us from having a good time. We can always find ways to have the time of our lives with a little adjustment and some creativity. We want to make every Filipino home a venue for entertainment.” Cortez explains.

Moreover, the campaign and online community also act as a symbolic effort to breathe life once more to live entertainment by bringing into the limelight the entertainment industry, as well as performing artists. In fact, the singing contest has boarded Nar Cabico, a Texas-based theater actor, singer, and songwriter as one of its judges and celebrity supporters. Cabico bagged the Best Actor crown in 2019 for his film “Akin ang Korona” at Sinag Maynila.

“One of the things that truly make us feel alive as Filipinos ay ang videoke. So, I hope this initiative helps us create good vibes and positivity especially during times when everybody just wants to be uplifted. And there is nothing more uplifting than a good videoke session,” Cabico shares.

The company, which is powered by the dynamic powerhouse Audio-Video Solutions Corporation (AVSC), has always been on top of providing world-class entertainment to everyone with their products. And while Grand Videoke doesn’t discriminate regardless of singing prowess, the Grand Videoke Symphony 3 Pro is also equipped with advanced technologies like its proprietary feature Perfect Pitch, a scoring system that guides users to improve their singing skills using an interactive real-time feedback to help anyone improve their singing.

“Just because there are limits doesn’t mean the fun has stopped. If you cannot go out to have your usual round of fun, we are going to bring it to everyone in their very own homes,” Cortez closes.

The Birth of OPM Archive Foundation With It's Initiative to Collect Filipino Music Artifacts

5:57:00 AM

The preservation of the OPM memorabilias are not just collections of old hit music but it is a preservation of the culture that has been established because of the flourishing of the music that time. It is a part of history where everyone has engulf most of their ways to music. Thus the birth of the OPM Archive Foundation has announced its official plans to collect Filipino music memorabilia and champion digital archiving in a time that needs preservation of cultural artifacts.

Heading the OPM Archive Foundation are the “next gen” members of the group, Moy Ortiz, President; Krina Cayabyab, Vice President; Dinah Remolacio, Treasurer and Chevy Salvador, Secretary, while the more senior members will stay on as board members and advisers.

The archive is a separate entity from Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) in that it will serve as a foundation that collects and documents not just the actual original Filipino music, but also narratives, photographs, music sheets and press releases. Originally, the term “OPM” referred to the inclusive period from the 70s to 80s when a rich influx of new and modern sounds, melodies, lyrics, singers and musicians flooded the airwaves, and even the theater, with original dance musicals as “Rama Hari” and “Tales of the Manuvu”. Among the familiar and popular voices that emerged, aside from Celeste Legaspi’s were Basil Valdez, Hajji Alejandro, Sampaguita, Mike Hanopol, Florante, Freddie Aguilar, Leah Navarro, Didith Reyes, just to name a few.

The archive, however, for the purposes of music research and study for future generations, shall extend its borders to the precedents of this era, the 60’s, and extend to the present, and hopefully can be sustained into the future, for the identification and recognition of music development. The accompanying narratives will seek to contextualize the music in its specific social relevance that defined each period, and perhaps identify continuity to the next period.

Plans for the OPM Archive gave rise before the lockdown, when the Filipinas Heritage Library (FHL), where the archive was to be housed, was ready to receive the hard copy donations. With the lockdown, FHL head, Suzanne Yupangco and the archive group agreed to go digital. This does not, however, preclude the collecting of hard copies once the quarantine period is over. There is nothing like seeing the original “in the flesh”. While each hard copy donation will be digitized, the original copies will also be preserved through actual preventive conservation, knowing how digitization alone can be prone to obsolescence because of evolving digital formats.

Music plays a major role in peoples’ lives. It is something everyone cares about. And the archive hopes to ensure that the musical gems it documents and collects will live on from generation to generation, so children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren can appreciate, learn from, and perhaps someday, revise, improvise, follow or change approaches to music.

The archive is now open for digital collection, and is open to the public for donations. Just log on to opmarchive.com.

The launch of the OPM Archive is an initiative of founding members of OPM, led by its founder and first president, Celeste Legaspi, with Girlie Rodis, Tats Rejante Manahan, Lyca Benitez Brown, next generatiogeneration members, Moy Ortiz, Chevy Salvador, Dinah Remolacio and Krina Cayabyab.

PhilPop announces finalists from Visayas and Mindanao clusters

12:54:00 AM

One of the prestigious songwriting contest that I have ever know, and who has produced a number of hit songs. PhilPop, has officially unveiled its top 6 finalists from the Visayas and Mindanao cluster. With #MusicBreakingBorders as its newest tagline, the music institution sets its sights in promoting top-notch Filipino compositions on a scale that’s never been done before: by going global and forging regional ties.

Carefully handpicked from thousands of submissions, the first batch of finalists from PhilPop Songwriting Festival 2020 recently graced the online media presentation last August 24, 2020 (Wednesday).

In no particular order, the finalists from the Vis-Min cluster include:

Visayas:
Jerika Teodorico – “Ayaw Na Lang” (Cebu City, Cebu)
Noah Alejandre and Reanne Borela – “Suyo” (Ormoc City, Leyte)
Michael Catarina – “Hinungdan” (Cebu City, Cebu)

Mindanao:
John Cadeliña – “Akong Bililhon”(Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur)
Christian Chiu – “Kasadya” (Corandal City, South Cotabato)
Sherwin Fugoso – “Pahuway” (Jabonga, Agusan del Norte)

According to PhilPop Executive Director Dinah Remolacio, the entries underwent multiple rounds of selection process until Top 3 per clusters were handpicked. “We wanted our process to be inclusive so the decision making involved local and international representatives from Warner Music, representatives from our regional partner for each cluster, and representatives from PhilPop,” Remolacio shares in a statement.

The selection committee is headed by Festival Chair and PhilPop Musicfest National Artist Ryan Cayabyab, as well as Foundation Board Members, adjudicators, partners, and Warner Music Philippines Executives such as PhilPop Musicfest Foundation President Victorico P. Vargas, Festival Co-Chair and PhilPop Musicfest Foundation Board Member Noel Cabangon, PhilPop Musicfest Foundation Executive Director Dinah A. Remolacio, PhilPop Musicfest Foundation Lead Adjudicators Jungee Marcelo and Trina Belamide, Warner Music Philippines Managing Director Ian Monsod, MinPop Musicfest Director and Mindanao Cluster Partner Jeremy Sarmiento, and Kadasig Founder and Visayas Cluster Partner Jude Gitamondoc.

PhilPop is currently wrapping up its adjudication process for the remaining clusters namely: North Luzon, South Luzon, and Metro Manila. The finalists representing the remaining regions will be announced next month. In terms of the selection of finalists from the Mindanao Cluster, MinPop Musicfest Director Jeremy Sarmiento takes pride of how the top three finalists took inspiration from various sources, yet their songs sounded truly ‘Mindanaoan’ in terms of cultural context and identity. Sarmiento also cited the importance of regional representation, and how this platform helps in introducing different stories and diverse experiences through music. “There's no better way to achieve that than giving an opportunity to those in the regions to tell their own stories. Representation provides a reflection of each of their languages, ideals, feelings and that's what we ultimately need to understand each other better, the uniqueness of the Filipinos, expressed through songs.”

Kadasig Founder and Visayas Cluster Partner Jude Gitamondoc is also optimistic about their official picks for the Visayas cluster, citing diversity and universal appeal as two of main reasons that make these songs a standout in the competition. “I think the songs chosen to represent the Visayas are a great representation of the region,” says Gitamondoc. “We have an electronic-infused track, another one that's soulful, and another that's folksy. That pretty much shows how varied the musicality is in the Visayas. We are at the center of the country. We are a melting pot of cultures, influences, and ideas.”

PhilPop Songwriting Festival 2020 is an initiative of the PhilPop Music Foundation, chaired by Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan. This year's PhilPop is co-presented by SMART, MERALCO, and MAYNILAD, with official partners, Warner Music Philippines, Kadasig, and MinPop.
