TV5, through its partnership with Cignal TV, will dominate your primetime evenings and bring an influx of fresh and familiar stars as they launch the newest lineup of teleseryes starting this Monday, November 23. Cignal Entertainment, the film and television production arm of Cignal TV, has commissioned Archangel Media to bring Ate ng Ate Ko & Carpool, Cornerstone Entertainment for Stay-in Love, and Viva Entertainment to bring Bella Bandida and Kagat ng Dilim.

Through Cignal Entertainment, TV5 continues to live up to its promise of inspiring and empowering its Filipino viewers with original and remarkable content; offering a wave of new programs ranging from drama, romance, action and suspense. They are likewise, introducing an alternative way that viewers can enjoy their programs through their 9:30 PM primetime block, PRIMETIME TODO.

Now, viewers can enjoy once-a-week series in a variety of genres delivered from Monday-Friday. The PRIMETIME TODO block brings five (5) new shows that will give the viewers a variety of exciting stories to fill their weekday evenings with, namely: Ate Ng Ate Ko (Monday), Stay In Love (Tuesday), Bella Bandida (Wednesday), Carpool (Thursday), and Kagat ng Dilim (Friday).

Undoubtedly, quality entertainment is at the heart of TV5’s core mission as they continue to provide opportunities for people in the entertainment industry and more meaningful reasons to come together, offering viewers access to a wide array of programs.

Popular actors Kris Bernal and Isabelle de Leon make their return on screen as they star in the newest weekly primetime series, Ate ng Ate Ko, alongside Jake Cuenca, Tonton Gutierrez, Joem Bascon, Kim Last, and Phil Noble. The show boasts a dramatic yet cryptic narrative of two sisters whose differences get in the way of their loving relationship. A mysterious incident causes the sisters to switch roles. The story also tackles a psychological condition called ‘dissociative fugue’ which is a rare form of amnesia wherein one loses awareness of their identity or other important personal information. The pilot episode is set to premiere this November 23 and will air every Monday at 9:30 PM on TV5.

Next on TV5’s slew of fresh primetime teleserye is the romantic comedy that will make viewers swoon with excitement. Stay-in Love follows the journey of a young and charming lady, played by Maris Racal, whose dream is to become a maid. As the story unfolds, the audience will be introduced to more characters; all scrambling to get their lives in order and find answers to their troubles. Joining Maris Racal and Ruffa Gutierrez in this light-hearted rom-com are Bobby Andrews, Pooh, Marc David, and breakout artist Kokoy de Santos. Stay-in Love is set to launch this November 24 and will air on TV5 every Tuesday at 9:30 PM.

From the producers of action-packed women starrers “Buy Bust” and “Maria” comes Bella Bandida, an action-drama series loosely based on the classic comic book by National Artist Francisco V. Coching. The series is headlined by Ryza Cenon as Bella Banida, an idealistic doctor who inherits mystical powers and uses them to fight injustice and avenge a heinous crime inflicted upon her by a gang of ruthless men. This series will showcase a different kind of female power. Premiering this November 25 on TV5, it will air every Wednesday at 9:30 PM.

Carpool is the newest suspense thriller series which will tackle the lives of four young individuals portrayed by Sarah Carlos, Alex Diaz, Kate Lapuz, and Kenneth Medrano. The series starts with the four sharing a carpool ride together, that leads them to a whirlwind of tragedy and horrific hauntings that will continue to follow them. The mysteries of Carpool further unravel as a former classmate, portrayed by Elora Espano, is suspected to be behind the events that haunt the four passengers. What is mind boggling though, is that, the said suspect that continues to torment them is already dead. Viewers can catch Carpool on TV5 starting November 26 and will air every Thursday at 9:30 PM.

Kagat ng Dilim, is the 2020 evolution of the horror anthology series in the early 2000s. This time, four of the most talented, young and well-known directors of the genre were enlisted to craft 13 episodes of terrifying tales that have haunted the minds of Filipinos. The stories, created by directors Lawrence Fajardo, Richard Somes, Paul Basinillo and Rae Red, are set to give a new generation of Pinoy horror fans a few more reasons to be afraid of the dark. Headlined by top Viva talents such as Matteo Guidicelli, Cristine Reyes, Maui Taylor & Ella Cruz, the series is launching this November 27 and will air every Friday at 9:30PM.

Ate ng Ate Ko, Stay-in Love, and Carpool will have a next day catch-up airing every 5:30 PM via One Screen on Cignal TV Channel 09 and SatLite Channel 35. Bella Bandida and Kagat ng Dilim will also have its catch-up airings: Bella Bandida starting November 27 airing Fridays at 7:00 PM and Kagat ng Dilim starting November 28, airing Saturdays at 7:00 PM; both via the SARI SARI Channel on Cignal TV Channel 03 and SatLite Channel 30.

Indeed, Cignal Entertainment & TV5 remain true to its mission in redefining the television experience. These giants continue to showcase Filipino ingenuity and highlight passion by providing its viewers outstanding production. Creativity and collaboration will continue to remain at the heart of Philippine entertainment; and TV5’s Bigger Better BER Months campaign is a testament to that.

iWantTFC's Oh Mando Is Not Your Usual Love Triangle

7:04:00 PM

This is not your usual love triangle, the new iWantTFC original series “Oh, Mando” topbilled by Kokoy De Santos is something different from the common romcom series that you watch. For this particular series, it is something different that lets you relate to the story no matter what is your gender, but of course it is much relatable if you're in the same situation as the characters.

In just a few days after it premieres its episode it has instantly captured fans and left them wanting more, as they praised its relatability, feel-good romcom take on the boys’ love genre, and “very Pinoy” flavor.

Since its pilot episode was made available on the platform, viewers have continuously shared positive reviews about the series on social media and YouTube, particularly about its sharp dialogue, witty jokes, and effective performances.

Twitter user @ikkooza said, “Lemme say it's really refreshing to see a full production BL series in the Philippines, in a full 30+ minute episode. This series is so PINOY, from the scenes and locations, to humor, to the prod design/ music etc. Thank you @DreamscapePH for #OhMando.”

Commending the pilot episode, @AngTerTer posted, “Kokoy de Santos really said ‘I'm one of the best actors of my generation’ as if we don't know that already. Also, #OhMandoEp1 is the strongest BL pilot to date. I said what I said.”

“Galing ni Kokoy De Santos. Equally as talented are the support too esp his friends - Vince and Leslie. Riot yong tatlong to. I can't stop laughing with their lines and how they deliver it. And Alex Diaz, uggghhh sir, pwedeng fishball buddies din tayo?” said @dar_winnnn.

The first episode, now streaming on iWantTFC, finds college freshman Mando (Koko) dealing with sexual confusion and then heartbreak after he meets the dashing, out and proud gay basketball jock Barry (Alex Diaz).

YouTube reviewer Michael Carbon also found the series relatable, expressing his admiration for the element of fantasy and fairy tales used in the series.

“Again, I found a BL series that is really me, that hits home to vulnerable people like us… It shows a part of us because we fantasize. It shows our vulnerability. We tend to have fairy tales, we want to have a happy ending. Everything was just so on-point for me. The dynamic of stories is great,” he said in his vlog.

“We appreciate this kind of series that’s so feel-good. Very light. You laugh and then you get ‘kilig.’Dreamscape’s take on it is great because it has a mix of mature content, and shifts gears in other parts. It’s enjoyable, entertaining, satisfying,” he also added.

In the next episode, Mando deals with his first heartbreak after learning that Barry already has a boyfriend. To move on from Barry, he courts Krisha (Barbie Imperial), a liberated girl who has long set her sights on him.

Standard and premium subscribers can stream new episodes of “Oh, Mando” every Thursday, 9 PM on the iWantTFC app (iOs and Android) or on iwanttfc.com. Taiwan Excellence: A mission to showcase Taiwan’s best products and manufacturing practices to the world

8:26:00 PM

For a country that thrives on innovation, it is no wonder that Taiwan is already recognized as one of the top countries in the world that truly excels in manufacturing and exporting products that will help improve people’s lives for the better.

Founded in 1993, Taiwan Excellence continues on its mission to showcase what Taiwan is made of with regard to best products and even manufacturing practices that can be the envy of even the most progressive countries around the world.

A spirit of innovation and creativity

At Taiwan Excellence, it is about fostering a spirit of innovation and creativity in almost all industries, including machinery, building materials, infrastructure, medical/health care, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, smart technologies and others.

Leonor Lin, President and CEO of Taiwan External Trade and Development Council (TAITRA), said Taiwan Excellence is dedicated to looking for outstanding products based on research and development, design, quality, marketing, and strong spirit of innovation. Awarding these products with the Taiwan Excellence Award means that the products displayed superior innovation and quality, which can help the enterprises that created them to attract the attention of a worldwide audience and expand their territory in the global market.

To showcase these industries and their capabilities, Taiwan Excellence embarked on an aggressive campaign to showcase Taiwan’s industries. Even amid the pandemic, where events and face-to-face contact is not allowed, Taiwan Excellence continued the campaign through a series of webinars where the industries and enterprises presented their products to potential buyers and the international media for them to witness first-hand what these products and services were all about.

Battling a crippling pandemic

To date, Taiwan continues to be the benchmark in handling the pandemic, and Taiwan is even willing to share its expertise and own experiences in handling the virus without so much disruption, particularly with regard to trade. Taiwan Excellence even tapped local artists such as Gloc-9, an outstanding Filipino rapper, together with indie song artist Keiko Necessario, to create a music video that shows Taiwan as a good role model on innovation, how it is battling a debilitating pandemic, and its vision for progress.

The Taiwanese government also altered its trade promotion policies where it worked closely in monitoring changes and market tendencies, even assisted industries in helping restore business activities as early as possible. Businesses were also helped to survive the pandemic through multiple approaches such as new business activities, especially connecting them to business partners all over the world. They were provided trade support through insurance, professional marketing to reduce costs, diversify their export reach, and helped them break through the crisis with new concepts for global trade or international marketing, with focus on digital transformation, providing more digital capacity and capability.

The pandemic even made Taiwan more resilient, says Simon Wang, TAITRA EVP. A digital platform was created to share how Taiwan handled the crisis and overcame challenges through https://www.anticovid19tw.org/ This medical and healthcare virtual pavilion is where Taiwan showcased tools and demonstrated its expertise in battling the virus through Taiwan’s medical and healthcare ecosystem, which also served as a new marketing strategy. The pavilion severs the boundaries of time and space and even social distancing rules where countries can interact with companies whose products they are interested in.

Beyond COVID-19

Having quickly controlled the spread of Covid-19 domestically, Taiwan is now exporting its expertise in technology and medical hardware and was hailed as a role model for pandemic prevention. Taiwan received many procurement requests for medical supplies, where it gladly responded on humanitarian grounds, with a sense of responsibility to share its experiences to help other countries battle this pandemic. If COVID-19 is the desert, then Taiwan can be the oasis with the way it battled the pandemic in terms of health, safety, as well as industry.

Taiwan was able to handle the pandemic well despite because it has a good government, people are disciplined enough and followed safety protocols set by the government, and technology that was well applied in terms of control and management. Its robust ICT industry also allowed Taiwan to grow its exports to 2.4 percent for the first 9 months of the year despite the global economic slump where many countries suffered in their export growth; and though many countries’ GDP growth slowed, Taiwan GDP is expected to hit 1.5 percent this year and grow by 2.9 percent by next year.

COVID-19 has been constantly changing people’s lives, whether for work, study or play and it has become a daily routine to keep social distancing as a common guideline. Like all the other countries, Taiwan was confronted with the pandemic, but it made a quick recovery where its medical industry, particularly its epidemic prevention products, has won high praise worldwide.

Post-COVID-19, Taiwan Excellence will continue to look and develop more Taiwanese brands so they can create more integrated, expandable and customizable products, particularly in the field of AI solutions and cybersecurity, to make smart life become a reality in the very near future. It will also engage and encourage more Taiwanese companies to pursue excellence and innovation. That is the essence of Taiwan Excellence, to make amazing dreams by recognizing the best in Taiwan and help create a healthy world and a better future for all.

U-Turn Movie, Did You Feel the Shiver?

11:09:00 PM

If you're one of the lucky audiences who has watched the advance screening of this adaptation of the 2016 Indian Movie "U-Turn" then you have probably felt the shiver. This Philippine adaptation was starred by one of the controversial but bubbly actress Kim Chiu, who is now dubbed as the Millennial Horror Queen together with the other casts Tony Labrusca and JM de Guzman.

An adaptation of the 2016 Indian movie of the same title, "U-Turn" revolves around Donna Suarez, a reporter who wants to have a big break. One day, she comes across a case, which she suspects as a suicide. After a few days, a similar case turns up again. Hoping that these cases could give her the break she has been waiting for, she used them in her stories. But karma would soon hit her when her brother also dies in an alleged suicide.

With a valid reason to dig into the cases, she enlists the help of her boyfriend Robin (Tony Labrusca) and police officer Kevin (JM de Guzman) to find the connection between the strange deaths.

Sometimes we all have to make our U-Turns! With this movie, all of the actors did pretty well in doing this adaptation film.

Hopefully, because of this pandemic, there will be more movies that are interesting enough to watch and enjoy even in the comfort of our homes.

“Sige, I-cover Mo Lang! Project” attests to 6cyclemind’s enduring appeal

10:15:00 PM

I think this is one great way to make music go beyond the boundaries of time and era. So, in to make this happen an initiative to introduce the younger listeners to the generation-defining anthems that conquered the airwaves for almost two decades, Sony Music Philippines and 6cyclemind finally released the special compilation, Sige, I-cover Mo Lang! Project last, October 28 (Friday), on Spotify and other streaming platforms worldwide.

More importantly, it brings a great opportunity for new artists to breakout in the music scene.

The covers record, which features shortlisted entries from music fans remaking select hits from 6cyclemind’s acclaimed pop-rock catalog, contains three tracks that were rearranged and given a fresh new spin to contrast or complement with the band’s distinct sound.

Released as digital singles a few months earlier, Bianca’s “Biglaan” and Twenty-Nine Eleven’s “I” took creative liberties in terms of arrangement and interpretation, but retained the original’s melodic sensibilities as a way to preserve and recognize its timeless appeal.

To date, Bianca’s version of “Biglaan” has racked up 1.6 million streams on Spotify, while Twenty-Nine Eleven’s version of “I” has amassed more than 3 million streams on the same platform.

Payapa Project, composed of Dan Billano (Vocals), Jepoy Almario (Percussion), Tatit Escolano (Guitars), Choi Gonzales (Bass) and Raf Gonzales (drums), completes the trifecta of releases from the Sige, I-cover Mo Lang! Project. The alternative rock outfit, through their vocalist’s powerful voice, was given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to render their own version of “Kasalanan,” a chart-topping song from the album, Project 6cyclemind. Their infectious take officially drops today as the third and final single of the tribute compilation.

These songs are now re-released into a music video format helmed by the band’s manager and sixth member Darwin Hernandez. The final versions of the cover tunes were recorded at Backdoor Recording Studio, and were produced by 6cyclemind and Soupstar Music.

Sige, I-cover Mo Lang! Project is now out on all digital platforms worldwide via Sony Music Philippines.

Moira Dela Torre Made History as First OPM Artist in Philippine Music to Get 11 Platinum Awards

12:11:00 AM

It is now part of our history, the Philippine Musical history, as singer and songwriter Moira Dela Torre made a clear mark as the very first OPM artist to receive 11 platinum certificates from her successful hit songs.

In a virtual bloggers conference, Moira Dela Torre joyfully shared her disbelief with her achievement, which is having a total of 11 platinum awards from three of her hit songs, the MALAYA - 8x platinum, IKAW AT AKO - 2x platinum, and PATAWAD - 1x platinum. According to Moira, she doesn't think that these things could happen even though we were in a pandemic situation.

"I'm so grateful at the same time this isn't just my recognition because I wouldn't have been able to do this without the people behind me. So I'm very honored and very grateful, and very shocked still," shared Moira.

Moira thanked everyone who was with her during her journey. And also, during the conference that we asked if she had created any Christian Songs. She joyfully shared that she already did some, and one of it was a duet with Mr. Ogie Alcasid. Of course, Moira gave a little taste of that song. In these trying times, we all need to hold on to God, and Moira as a Christian is a model of that firm belief.

All of the achievements were presented to Moira as a surprise during the ASAP Natin To show.

JAKE AND IVANA SUMMON BAD OMENS IN “SITSIT’S” BACK-TO-BACK HORROR FLICKS ON iWANT TFC

11:46:00 PM

Jake Cuenca and Ivana Alawi’s desire for money and sex will corrupt their minds and summon evil into their lives in the back-to-back horror flicks for the movie series “Sitsit,” streaming on iWant TFC on October 31.

“Sitsit” presents two different stories in “Scorpio” and “Aswang” about people who, out of desperation to escape their misery and turn things around, take the easy way out and end up attracting evil elements that will manipulate them and could tarnish their souls completely.

In “Scorpio,” named after the Zodiac sign, Jake and Dido Dela Paz portray Danny, a lustful aging photographer who fears living a lonely life with no one to love. To get the woman he loves and is obsessed with, he takes a mysterious potion that will turn him into a young handsome man to win her heart.

“Aswang,” on the other hand, follows a money-hungry prostitute named Joyce (Ivana) who is desperate to escape her life after being used and abused by different people. One day, she meets Nala, a stray dog who becomes her companion for life and ends up turning all her insecurities and worries into life-changing opportunities.

In Filipino myths, the word “sitsit” or “pssst” signifies a calling of an individual or object that is usually accompanied by a bad omen when one responds to such call. The two horror flicks, however, provide a darker twist and a modern take on Filipino folklore elements “aswang” and "gayuma,” as the characters summon evil spirits due to their selfish desires.

“Scorpio” is directed by Ato Bautista, while “Aswang” is directed by Erin Pascual. Actor Paulo Avelino, meanwhile, co-produced "Aswang."

Catch “Sitsit” on the iWant TFC app (iOs and Android) or on iwanttfc.com starting October 31. For updates, like www.facebook.com/iWantTFC, and follow @iwanttfc on Twitter and Instagram, and subscribe to www.youtube.com/iWantTFC. Ginebra San Miguel Revealed Christelle Abello as 2021's Calendar Girl

6:01:00 PM

Are you one of the many avid followers and spectators of Ginebra San Miguel's yearly Calendar Girl Revelations? Well, if you are, that is great. Ginebra San Miguel, even though we're experiencing the pandemic, made sure that the tradition will still go on. And by doing the event online gave a different way of revealing this year's Calendar Girl. Actually, and I think no one really knew who was this year's Calendar Girl not until she was introduced to the public. I was surprised that when her audio airs without exposing her face and by the way she's answering is somehow similar to how our two beauty queens, Pia Wurtzback and Catriona Gray respond to a question.

So, who is the next calendar girl after Sanya Lopez? Well, she's a beauty queen, and I'm sure you won't get a chance to be part of the prestigious competition if you're not a beauty queen. So, to know her already, she is Christelle Abello, a fresh face, and a newcomer. She's a 26-year old model based in California, USA.

Just a few days ago through an online/virtual launching event, Ginebra San Miguel introduced Christelle Abello as the new image in the 2021 Calendar Girl of Ginabra San Miguel.

The 2021 edition of the Ginebra San Miguel calendar is very timely as it captures today’s “new normal” at home in six (6) different layouts. With the theme “Ganado sa Bahay,” the calendars feature Christelle being “ganado,” motivated and productive even amid the COVID-19 pandemic – working from home, honing her creativity and discovering new skills, and taking care of her body and well-being.

“More than just a pretty face, our Ginebra San Miguel Calendar Girl for 2021 definitely personifies our latest campaign ‘One Ginebra Nation.’ We were not only charmed by her intelligence, but also by her optimism, her courage, her never-say-die spirit, her heart for others, and love for her kababayan. We feel that she best represents the brand and we are very happy to welcome Christelle to our Ginebra San Miguel family,” relates Ginebra San Miguel Inc. (GSMI) Sales and Marketing manager Allan Mercado.

As in the past, the Ginebra San Miguel calendar is considered as a stepping stone for up-and-coming artists and personalities.

For Christelle, being chosen as the next Ginebra San Miguel calendar girl is an opportunity of a lifetime. “I’m so thrilled. I’m so proud and honored to represent Ginebra San Miguel. This is an opportunity of a lifetime and I’m so grateful to be a part of such an iconic and historical brand,” she says.

To prepare for her Ginebra San Miguel calendar girl shoot, Christelle made sure that she is both physically and mentally ready. “I already do a lot of weights and cardio workouts. I’ve become accustomed to that lifestyle not because I want to look good physically but also because I want to feel good mentally. And I think that’s really important especially at this time,” relates Christelle, who at the start of the pandemic put up a fundraising effort called “Kapit-bisig Tayo” to assist healthcare workers.

REVISITING HER ROOTS

Christelle is born to Filipino parents. Her father is from Kalibo, Aklan while her mother is from Silang, Cavite. She graduated with a degree in Communication from California State University San Marcos.

While she spent most of her life in the US, Christelle has always been in touch with her Filipino roots. “My mom heavily enforced Filipino culture and values at home. She wanted my sister and I to learn Tagalog, and what better way to learn it than through watching teleseryes and movies. So, I grew up watching KathNiel’s ‘Got to Believe,’ and ‘A Very Special Love’,” shares Christelle, who dreams of starring in her own teleserye or movie.

Christelle admits that the never-say-die story of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach also inspired her to pursue her other dream – to become a beauty queen. “The world of pageantry fascinated me so much because I witnessed phenomenal women and beautiful and confident women like Pia Wurtzbach who made a mark in this world. And they impelled me to say that I can do this too.”

“Back in the day, my dad would tell me stories about [Robert] Jaworski and that even if the team was falling behind in a PBA game, people would still cheer them on and were confident that they will come back strong and win the game because of their never-say-die attitude. I think Barangay Ginebra resonates with Filipinos so well with who we are as people, resilient despite the adversities that come our way,” shares Christelle.

FAVORITE SCENE

Yes, our lovely calendar girl does have her favorite scene, and I was glad that my question during the virtual launch was related to her favorite. Christelle's favorite was the painting session scene or the Ganado sa Pagpipinta and I asked if she has painted before and what are the types of paintings that she does. According to her, "... I admit I'm not the best painter nor I paint as often but I do like to draw. I do like to sketch out every now and then. And honestly, I like to draw some anime from time to time. I'm a big fan of Avatar series..."

So, there you go and she's Ganado sa Pagpipinta of anime characters.

THE GINEBRA CALENDAR TRADITION
