BlueWater Day Spa is Stepping Up Their Game for Summer 2023 - See What's New!

BlueWater Day Spa has recently added two new brand ambassadors to their team, just in time for the summer season. The announcement was made during a media event held last February 17, 2023, at Marco Polo Ortigas, with Tessa Prieto-Valdez hosting the event. The new ambassadors are GMA 7's "Pambansang Ginoo" and businessman David Licauco, and Miss World Philippines 2021 Tracy Maureen Perez.

David Licauco shared his experience of being very busy with taping schedules and managing his businesses, and how he always looks forward to his favorite Balinese massage at BlueWater Day Spa after a long tiring week. Tracy Perez, on the other hand, expressed her preference for BlueWater Day Spa's Deep Tissue Massage and IPL Hair Removal service, particularly focusing on areas that usually experience chronic tension.-

The theme of this year's contest is "Sa’n Tayo Next?" and it aims to showcase the raw beauty and potential of lesser-known destinations in the Philippines. This is a wonderful opportunity for both amateur and professional photographers to share their vision of the country's stunning landscapes and win some generous cash prizes.

The contest will begin on February 15th, 2023 and PAGCOR's Assistant Vice President for Corporate Communications, Carmelita Valdez, said that the state-run gaming agency wants to give photographers of all skill levels a chance to showcase the beauty of the Philippines. A total of P1.6 million will be given away in cash prizes to the winners and finalists.

The theme "Sa’n Tayo Next?" is inspired by the common question travelers ask each other after experiencing an incredible trip. It's a question that sparks excitement for the next adventure, and the PAGCOR Photography Contest 2023 hopes to tap into that energy to help boost the tourism sector as it recovers from the pandemic.

This year's contest will have two categories: Conventional and Mobile. The Conventional Category includes photos taken with traditional cameras like Single Lens Reflex or Digital SLR, compact cameras, etc. The Mobile Category includes photos taken with apps on mobile devices like smartphones, tablets, drone-mounted cameras, and action cameras. Participants must be 18 years or older and can submit up to two entries under one category or one entry for each category.

The deadline for submissions is on July 31st, 2023. The grand winners of the Conventional Category will receive P80,000 each, while the grand winners of the Mobile Category will receive P35,000 each. There will also be cash prizes for the non-winning grand finalists and a special prize for the "Most Liked Photo" in each category.

This is the 5th time PAGCOR is holding its nationwide photography contest, and it's a great opportunity for photographers to showcase their skills and passion for capturing the beauty of the Philippines.

Dinagyang Festival's Comeback Exceeds Expectations: A Complete Success with Impressive Choreography and Striking Costumes

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas of Iloilo City was over the moon with the return of the Dinagyang Festival to the city's streets, describing it as a "complete success." With thousands of domestic and foreign visitors flocking to the festival's various activities, the Mayor said everyone wanted a strong comeback and it was a triumph, showing that Dinagyang and their Sto. Niño are beyond politics.

“Everyone wanted a strong comeback…It was a complete success and this showed that Dinagyang and our Sto. Niño are beyond politics,” added Treñas. Dinagyang Festival is known far and wide for its participants’ impressive choreography and striking costumes that reflect Ilonggo ingenuity, craftsmanship and artistry.

Yassi Pressman is Ginebra San Miguel's 2023 Calendar Girl

Every year most of the Barangay Ginebra fans awaits for the unveiling of its Calendar Girl. From the time it started in 1988, which was then Ginebra Angels, up to this date people has always been expecting and guessing who will be the next Calendar Girl. Now, it seems that picking that specific girl or the one has become a yearly responsibility of Ginebra San Miguel Inc. It may be an inspiration for the masculine men but today it is a source of strength and empowerment for the feminine. 

So, this coming year Ginebra San Miguel Inc. (GSMI) introduces Filipino-British actress and Queen of the Dance Floor Yassi Pressman as its 2023 Calendar Girl in an event attended by friends from media, social media celebrities, GSMI dealers, and other brand ambassadors.


 
Yassi was surprised and honored when she got a call that she was chosen to be the newest member of the GSMI family. “Being a part of such a great legacy is something that is going to be a milestone in my life,” says Yassi. “It’s really something special to be part of a company that serves world-class quality products, and it means a lot to me that they chose me to be a part of the brand,” she continued.

It was the first time again, after two years, that the event was held face-to-face. “We are excited to finally hold our Ginebra San Miguel 2023 Calendar Girl launch live again! YASSI AS “QUEEN OF THE BARANGAY”

Yassi prepared herself physically and mentally to be the best representation of what an ideal Ginebra calendar girl should be. She admits that prior to her selection, she was always trying to keep herself fit. “Of course, there were times that I also had to give in to my cravings, but at the end of the day, I knew my priority was to be stronger, healthier, and happier.”

Preparing for the calendar shoot, Yassi pushed herself to do weight training, boxing, and having a healthy diet. “My fitness journey helped me become a better version of myself.” As for her mental preparation, she just kept in mind Ginebra’s taglines like “Ganado sa Buhay,” and “Never-Say-Die.”


 
With Yassi’s positivity and optimism in life, her personality shined through the six layouts of the Ginebra San Miguel 2023 calendar. The photo shoot was also done on location after two years, reflecting the relaxed and open atmosphere we anticipate in the coming year.

The six layouts are inspired by different cocktail mixes. The first one is “Ginsu Mix” set in an auto repair shop, reminding the importance of hard work and passion in everything we do. The second layout is “Calamansi Surprise,” showing Yassi amidst greenery and nature.

“Kula-Orange Fizz” is the third layout, featuring a background filled with dried pampas grass with wooden trays where one can display spirits and mix cocktails. According to Yassi, she could relate to this design as she had her dream home renovated recently, which now features a lot of touches of brown wood furniture and neutral shades. “I also have a mini bar in my living room–an open space to bond with my family and friends.”

 

The fourth layout is the “Velocity Mix,” something that seems like it’s from a blockbuster summer movie complete with a ref full of Ginebra products. While “Sky Prisma” is the fifth layout, also in a beach setting, but this time with a picturesque sunset in the background. Last is the “Mango Daiquiri,” where Yassi is magnified by a bonfire by the beach, the best place to experience Ginebra’s creative cocktails and concoctions. Just don't forget your coolers and ice boxes for that perfect night!

Personally, it was hard for Yassi to choose a favorite among the six calendar layouts, but she has a bias toward the “Velocity Mix.” “It’s because I always enjoy beach time with family and friends–a ‘ginstronomic’ trip with our favorite food and gin. The drink also has candies and gummies–the perfect combo for me, as it is sweetness with a kick!”

YASSI ON BEING A MODERN FILIPINA

During the pandemic, the actress and entrepreneur has gained new discoveries about herself–a new purpose, pride, and passion that resonates not only with her family but the whole barangay.

As an empowered Filipina woman, Yassi owns multiple businesses, knows how to tend to her organic garden, fixes things at home, and concocts rejuvenating drinks for herself and her family—all while fulfilling her commitments in the entertainment industry.


 
With her self-discovery, Yassi also realized to be kinder to herself and has become the “matapang” woman she is by refusing to let difficult circumstances pull her down. “When I was younger, my father always advised me to keep trying because, as he said—if you try and try and you succeed, you’re going to be happy, but if you try and try and you fail, I’ll be there to catch you,” says Yassi. Her family, the source of her “tapang,” made her fearless in the face of whatever trials or tribulations she may face.

Despite her personal struggles, Yassi continues to hone the talents that she already has and allows her inner beauty to radiate, too, in order to inspire others. According to her, she shows her most natural self online and sometimes even reveals some not-so-glamorous side of a celebrity because she believes that it would be healthy for people, especially the youth, to see that genuine side of her.

“I am open to everybody [on social media] about my battles and journey toward being healthier and stronger,” says the 2023 Ginebra calendar girl. “Whenever I get messages from little girls or any netizen saying that I inspire them to dance, act, and to keep moving forward, it gives me the ‘ganado’ feeling and hope and aspiration to empower more women!”



If there are things that the pandemic or the recent months have made women realize, it’s that they can accomplish things that are not expected from them and deliver more than the ordinary. “I think Ginebra San Miguel chose me because I embody courage, passion, and its never-say-die spirit. Growing up in showbusiness, you'd experience a lot of rejections and comments from people, and while we know we should just brush them off—especially the non-constructive criticisms—they sometimes get to you,” adds Yassi.

But amid all these rejections and disappointments in the past, Yassi just soldiered on, keeping a “never say die” attitude. Eventually, she became unstoppable, brimming with positivity and personality, allowing her to rise above the crowd.

As “Queen of the Barangay,” Yassi and her friends know how to have a good time—with good music and drinks, as seen on her social media posts. “We love theme parties; the last one we did was about sunflowers. We also did disco and Coachella.”

Reminiscing Our Childhood Days with the Return of ToyCon

Every childhood memory comes with toys. No matter what kind of size, shape, and texture, we all play ay least once in our life. We only stop playing not because we grew old, but because of our obligations and necessities.


 
This year, the yearly gathering and exhibitions of toy collectors, hobbyists, enthusiasts, and manufacturers gathered again after a few years of hiatus due to the Covid19. Dubbed "Back to Basic," they returned to the place where it all started, the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall.



 
I remember attending my very first ToyCon in 2012. It was at the Megatrade Hall of SM Megamall. Fun, happy, and crowded with lots of cosplayers, toys, and exhibitions. It was like a haven for avid toy collectors and for the kids.

Seeing the abundance of toys, nearly all the characters-superheroes and cartoon characters- that we've grown up with are at ToyCon. If your nirvana is the rarest and most unique toy, you'll definitely find it at the convention.


 
It may sound weird but seeing these toys brings back happy childhood memories. Though we may not bring back those old broken toys, the best part is that we carry the joy of playing. I remember the line of Michael V in one of his vlogs, "...Matanda na tayo kaya hindi nabtayo naglalaro, pero ang totoo hindi na tayo naglalaro kaya tayo tumatanda." (We're old that's why we stop playing, but the truth is we're not playing anymore that's why we're getting older.)



The pandemic might have affected us but with the opening of ToyCon, we're now back to our childish hearts.

TOYCON PH 2022 Returns for a Grand Homecoming Show

It's the return of the comeback! Yes, the news is right, for all TOYCON fans out there, your most awaited convention and gathering event will be returning to where it all started.

 For long-time TOYCON fans, it’s no secret that Voltes V holds a special place in this convention’s heart. This iconic robot has never missed a spot among the collage of colorful characters on our poster since the very start, and on special milestone years it has even become the central symbol of our show, with the huge Voltes V statue in 2016 when we first moved the convention to the SMX in Pasay, the fleet of Voltes V ships gracing our 2017 merchandise, and TOYCON’s launch of the Tamashii Nations Super Electromagnetic Machine VOLTES V, Bandai Spirits DLX Soul of Chogokin in 2020.

For many, this long drought without any gathering to celebrate our common love for all things creative, innovative and collectible has gone on way too long. And so with the effects of CoVid winding down, we just cannot wait to see you all, our fans and loyal community, finally come home.

And this year, our 19th year of putting on an onsite convention, Voltes V takes center stage again as part of a promise made by our event partner, Quiccs, back in 2019 to launch his trademark TEQ-63 in unmistakable Voltes V style only at TOYCON! And this year, in partnership with TOEI Co. Ltd. Telesuccess, we’re all set to finally launch it! At the heart of the Voltes V story is a tale of a family divided, of struggles suffered and surpassed, but ultimately a reunion of love. Which is really what TOYCON is about too, isn’t it? It is a yearly reunion, and for this year, a homecoming, as we return to the place where it all started.

TOYCON was started as a gathering of people of like minds, and this year as it has been every year, it is a collaboration of many to put together the biggest pop culture event in the country and in South East Asia. In the gaming scene, games, gatherings, conventions, and competitions are your usual activities. It happens almost everywhere, but because of the global incident, we get stuck in our houses. It's more fun playing with friends and even more exciting if crowds are cheering for you.

If we cannot convene and go to places for a fun gaming experience, so, GG Company created this idea of GG Truck where this truck goes to your community for a bit of fun and playing experience. Thus, "go gaming" comes because of the on-the-go truck for gaming. It is the first-ever pop-up gaming truck in Southeast Asia.

 


The vehicle is then converted to a mini stage with a widescreen 10ft x 6ft LED screen to see your game in a short, enjoyable competition. Just right before Father's Day, I was able to at least experience competing, though the game I participated in was just a mini-game of a first-person 2D shooting game. PTAA Travel Tour Expo 2020 and Release of Their List of Too 10 MostTraveled Celebs

If you're planning to travel and have your dream vacation or getaway this year then you might want to get busy this coming weekend. Yes, there's going to be an event that will gather different travel agencies, tours, hotels, and other businesses with regards to travels. The Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) will be hosting its annual three-day Travel Tour Expo at SMX Convention Center from February 7 to 9. It is the 27th installment of the highly anticipated event.

In line with this, PTAA is releasing its list of most traveled celebrities. The group formed a three-person committee to come up with the list based on the stars' social media posts.


PTAA president Ritchie Tuano explained, "These days, social media has become one of the best tools for the travel and tourism industry. Pictures and videos are the best ways to entice people to visit a place. Celebrities, whether they realize it or not, do a lot to boost the visits to different locations within and outside the country. Their fans aspire to go where they go. Moreover, the public also gets to find out more about the places they visit. They provide both the glamour factor and the reassurance that the place is safe to visit."

With that, the PTAA has identified the following as their top 10 most traveled Filipino celebrities:

Entry tickets to TravelTour Expo 2020 may be bought at the SMX Convention Center entrance. The tickets cost PhP70 for general admission (including students and children) and PhP50 for senior citizens. The entrance is free for all Citi Credit Card Holders — they just have to present a valid ID along with their card. Tickets are priced on a per day basis. Below is the schedule of the expo:
