Ai Ai Delas Alas' Transition From Tanging Ina to Tanging Ninang

1:07:00 AM

Ai Ai Delas Alas is back to bring into the big screen her known brand of comedy, humor that tickles your funny bone with a story that will touch your heart. From her blockbuster fame movie Tanging Ina (2003), which spawned several sequels and rip-offs, she is now up for another wacky comedy with a heart. She is now playing a new role, which is equally important as the mother, the Tanging Ninang, with the movie titled D' Ninang.

This is the first movie of AiAi Delas Alas for the year with Regal Entertainment, Inc., and it is also the opening salvo for 2020. It can be recalled that AiAi's last movie with Regal Entertainment was the highly successful film "Our Mighty Yaya" in 2017.

This year, in D' Ninang, AiAi will portray a pickpocketer with a big heart. A different character from her usual straight motherly roles.

While it is apparent that her character is guilty of wrongdoing, Ninang extends help to her community. This is where she appears to be everybody's godmother, thus they refer to her as Ninang. More of a modern female version of Robin Hood.

She also takes under her wing a couple of proteges, who are also pickpocketers (Angel Guardian, Kiray Celis) but still guided by Ninang's unconventional way of living.

Her life suddenly takes a different twist when she finds her long-lost daughter Mikhai, which is played by Kisses Delavin, who decides to live with her.

However, AiAi's daughter, Mikhai is unaware of her mom's illegal business. This is the irony of it, her daughter wants to pursue a career in punishing the crooks.

Will their love for each other prevail learning that both of them have flaws?

The movie D' Ninang is a heartwarming story about human relationships and one's struggles to keep the goodness in her heart despite hardships in life. It tackles about continuing the fire of hope burning and one's unwavering belief to change for the better.

D' Ninang hits close to home as far as Filipino family values are concerned.

With Superb cast headed by the Comedy Queen herself, D' Ninang is expected to appeal to viewers craving for a heartwarming family comedy story and eventually become a box office hit.

It also stars, Joey Marquez, Kiray Celis, McCoy de Leon, Kelvin Miranda, Lou Veloso, and Angel Guardian. The movie is directed by GB Sampedro. D' Ninang will hit cinemas on January 22, 2020.

Richard Jewell, A Critically-Acclaimed Film of Clint Eastwood on Ortigas Cinema

2:11:00 PM

Watching movies and films give us a sense of belongingness to the story we are watching. It is an experience that most films ought to give to their audience as if it is real, and we are part of that story.

Ortigas Cinema welcomes moviegoers to its brand new movie theater with a hint of luxury and elegance. The cinema just opened last November 2019 it gives a distinctive experience for everyone.

Movie buffs will enjoy watching blockbusters form this first every Ortigas Cinemas, with ultra-comfortable seats, and world-class facilities. With Bold golden accents and a hint of class and modernity, it houses a total of 4 regular cinemas and 2 premier cinemas called The Screening Room. Even the snack bar aptly called Rell Bites veers off the traditional quirky look and instead employs a sparkly look that is just as modern, blending seamlessly into the overall glam of the interiors.

All cinemas are equipped with world-class seats to offer the comfort that elevates the movie experience. For "The Screening Room," seats are extra luxe with plush recliners with adjustable foot and backrests. Truly, these were designed to go beyond style and cater to movie patrons and provide maximum comfort for the ultimate movie experience that's truly distinct to Estancia.

This January, a week before its Philippine Release, Ortigas Cinemas housed the advanced screening of the critically acclaimed Clint Eastwood-produced and directed film, "Richard Jewell."

Eastwood wanted to honor Richard Jewell's life as an everyday hero, even after being publicly thrown to the wolves by the public in 1996. Working as a security guard during the Atlanta Olympics, it was Jewell who found a suspicious bag that contained an incendiary device. With little time to spare, he helps evacuate the area, saving many lives and minimizing potential injuries. He is hailed a hero. But just three days later, the humble savior's life unravels when he - and the world - learn he is the FBI's prime suspect in the bombing.

What might read as the makings of a suspense thriller are not the imaginings of a creative mind, but were, in fact, the life-shattering reality for the real Richard Jewell. Ironically, thanks to his selfless act, for 88 days, Jewell lived with an invasive FBI investigation, public scrutiny spurred by unrelenting press coverage, and the uncertainty that his name would ever be cleared, or his life ever be the same.

Critically acclaimed and currently has a 75% Fresh Rating at Rotten Tomatoes, "Richard Jewell" has been chosen by America's National Board of Review as one of the Ten Best Films of 2019. The same organization has honored "Richard Jewell" cast members Kathy Bates with a Best Supporting Actress prize, and Paul Walter Hauser with a Breakthrough Performance Award.

Kathy Bates has also been nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the recent Golden Globes Awards.

One of the most beautiful woman in the universe is probably the best fit in the new segment of It's Showtime. Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray kickstart the new chapter of her life by bringing her signature charm to noontime TV in ABS-CBN’s “It’s Showtime,” serving as one of the special hosts of its new segment “Mini Ms. U.”

“Mini Ms. U” is a pageant for little girls who want to unleash their inner beauty queen and showcase their wit, talent, and passion for their chosen causes.

Knowledge Channel's “MATHDALI” is Back with New Season

9:12:00 AM

If I remember it correctly the very first TV show that I have watched that explains about math is also from the Kapamilya Network which is titled as "Mathinik". I was glad that they have a new one that is going for its new season, "Mathdali". It's really easy when your cognitive and creativity are in line together.

For this season of Mathdali, Kapamilya actor and Math enthusiast Robi Domingo and his gang, Kuya Igi (Igi Boy Flores), Kuya Vic (Vic Robinson), and twins Ate Joj and Ate Jai (Joj and Jai Agpangan), are back to bring the fun in learning and solving math problems as Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc.’s (KCFI) “MathDali” returns for new episodes this season.

“MathDali” is a program aligned with the K-12 curriculum of the Department of Education and aims to prove that learning Math isn’t difficult as it uses key strategies and practical classroom approaches in making learning more fun and enjoyable for each student.

KCFI developed “MathDali” in 2016 after years of familiarity with the Philippine educational landscape. Through the program, integral life skills like critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration and the growth mindset, which Filipino students need to develop, are honed. The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018 found these as very strong skills-component in students from top performing countries.

“Don’t be afraid of Math because with it, we learn values that we can apply to real life. We don’t just teach kids about numbers and solving problems, we also teach them to be more determined, more patient, and more creative,” Kuya Vic said.

By regularly watching “MathDali,” Filipino students can improve their understanding and practical use of Math concepts, and their scores in tests.

The new season of “MathDali” airs every Sunday on ABS-CBN at 9:15am and everyday at 10:00am-10:30am and 1:30pm-2:00pm on Knowledge Channel on SKY Cable, SKY Direct, and ABS-CBN TV Plus.

A production of Knowledge Channel Foundation, ABS-CBN Corporation, and ABS-CBN Foundation Inc., “MathDali” is a certified child-friendly in the 2019 AnakTV Seal Awards.

5 Takeaway Lessons From STARLA

10:39:00 AM

After sixteen (16) weeks of airing from Mondays to Fridays, this cute little star together with the ensemble of casts that brought light and hope to every Kapamilya homes, Starla, will bid their farewell tonight. Though it will end, still, it's way of touching the hearts of many and sparking the light of hope to each one will continue.

Here are some of the lessons that we can take from the teleserye "Starla".

1) Helping others while expecting nothing in return

Even magical creatures need support too. In the series, kiddie protagonist Buboy (Enzo Pelojero) offered to help Starla (Jana Agoncillo) to grant at least 50 wishes in order for her to become a full-fledged wishing star, even teaching her along the way what constitutes a bad wish and a good wish.

Teresa, at first a self-serving lawyer, has always had a heart for the less fortunate. Even though rich and successful, she takes her pro bono cases just as seriously as her high profile clients, going so far as to firing an arrogant lawyer who neglected one of their poor clients. When she was jailed, Teresa also offered her services to her fellow inmates for free because she dreaded the reality that some of them, especially the innocent ones, got separated from their families.

2) Revenge is never the answer

Teresa’s deep-seated resentment towards his father Greggy (Joel Torre) and her hometown Barrio Maulap made revenge the fundamental driving force in her life. Blinded by rage, she spent months sabotaging the livelihood, resources, and even safety of the community. After witnessing firsthand how much havoc her plans have caused her neighbors, she made a change of heart that ultimately led her to resign from her company.

3) Holding yourself accountable and making up for your mistakes

Mang Greggy stayed in prison for years for defending other people, and consequently lost his wife and daughter. After being paroled, Mang Greggy became a recluse and stopped opening up his life to other people.

But when Teresa came back to his life, he acknowledged his shortcomings as a husband and a father and remained determined to woo Teresa without sacrificing his principles. For her part, Teresa also owned up to everyone about her evil schemes and vowed to defend them and their rights.

4) It’s never too late to ask for and offer forgiveness

In a heartrending scene that moved viewers, Teresa told his father Greggy that she had forgiven him, let go of her pride, and finally sought forgiveness from him.

“You’re just doing your duty to others. Now I understand that the world isn’t fair to everyone. Some people get stepped on and are taken advantage of. I understand that you want to right the wrongs in the world the way you know how,” she tearfully said to her father. By then, Teresa was all for reconciliation and ready to repair their relationship.

5) Encourage kindness and pay it forward

After Buboy lost his parents, Mang Greggy was the first person to show him empathy. Even when Greggy was grumpy and avoidant of other people, Buboy saw through his adoptive dad’s heart and has always made sure to pay it forward to people in need.

Buboy, with the help of Starla, orchestrated many miracles in Barrio Maulap in order to get it back on its feet, including treating the town’s crops, restoring power to every home, healing a sick mom, or defending a bullied kid.
