6cyclemind and Sony Music PH ink covers project

6:32:00 AM

Another interesting musical project from one of the known band in the country, 6cyclemind, will be doing their best and effort to show appreciation to the fans who have been through their musical journey, 6cyclemind recently teamed up with Sony Music Philippines for Sige I-Cover Mo Lang Project.

The initiative, which was supposed to be an independent project, encouraged fans to submit covers of their favorite songs from the band’s catalog.

“Throughout our career, we have been touring different parts of the country,” vocalist Tutti Caringal said. “We are lucky to witness how our audience, even from far flung areas, sing our songs with us. This is indeed a very magical feeling. Online, we can also view our fans cover our songs. This makes us feel that, somehow, through our music, we have touched their lives. This is the reason why we have decided to do this project.”

With number one singles, best-selling albums, and sold-out shows, 6cyclemind continues to gain foothold in the local music industry. Their latest project is a testament to their growing and respectable discography, a proof of their legacy as a band known for their heartfelt and rousing anthems.

Fan involvement

The five-piece pop-rock act did not set some specific criteria for the fan submissions, and accepted all entries—whether phone recordings, changed tempo or genre.

6cyclemind lead guitarist Herbert Hernandez added, “We gave them the freedom to interpret the song of their choice. While screening the entries, we followed our gut feel and looked for the cover that will move us. There were many entries that we really liked. It was difficult for the band to eliminate the other submissions because we had to limit it to just 3. Part 2, perhaps?”

2020 version of “Biglaan”

From the pool of submissions, Bianca’s stripped-down version of “Biglaan” stood out the most. It earned a spot as one of the first among the three winners of the all-covers record. “Whenever I want to cover songs, I usually just search for the chords and let myself feel the music,” the budding artist said. “I was pretty melancholic during these times so my general approach was to make the song softer and downcast which is what I usually do to songs I usually sing.”

According to Bianca, the project “was such a great platform to thank the band’s fans and also give opportunities to artists” like her.

The sixteen-year-old singer-songwriter recorded the song at Backdoor Recording Studio, and it was produced by 6cyclemind.

Bianca’s rendition of “Biglaan” is now available on various music streaming/download platforms worldwide.

Reliving An Old Age Trekking Experience

1:40:00 AM

When was the last time you had an outdoor activity that is pack with a thrilling and exciting adventure? Well, the last one that is memorable for me was my college days, where we (my organization) did a mountain trekking in a nearby province. It was a real adventure where we stayed up the mountain area for five straight days. We set up a campsite where no one has ever visited. We eat, sleep, and enjoy the trees for five days. We look for water and other food necessities. Our only time was the sun and the moon.

It was like experiencing a tactical training where you need to survive for some time and where you are required to survive only with your tactical gears. Though in our case, we had a few gears with us that is basic enough to go through that five days in the mountain.

It was an unusual experience, but of course, there were few downsides. At that time, we don't have gears like Salomon Outdoors Footwear to protect our feet. There are quite few Tactical Distributors back then. If ever that I'll do it again, I would prefer to use a Salomon Tactical Boots, it is much safer when doing a trek in the mountain. You can avoid hurting yourself with sharp and pointed stones. You can enjoy the view with less worry.

I hope I can do it again and enjoy the adventure, but probably this time, I would love my kids to join me in this kind of journey. I'm planning to be more equipped, with the right gear to protect ourselves at the same time enjoy the views and Plantshed sceneries of the place. I'm sure they will look forward to this kind of activity.

Singapore R&B trio brb. Release Its Debut Album Relationsh*t via Umami Records

6:25:00 AM

Reaching a lot of ears by creating a different kind of sound that is what always hit the tone. Just this month Singapore r&b trio brb. has released their debut album relationsh*t via indie label Umami Records. Featuring two previously unreleased tracks, ‘do me right’ and ‘better’, and with two singles ‘cool with it’ and ‘talking to myself’ already passing a million streams on Spotify, the EP encapsulates the evocative reflections and textures of a prolific young band rapidly establishing themselves in the r&b scene.

relationsh*t showcases the trio’s thriving repertoire of songs about the highs and heartbreaks of romance, unravelling the ambiguous and timeless motif of love into its progression from thrilling ambivalence to inevitable submission and/or extinction. The release highlights include ‘do me right’ and ‘better’, two new tracks that uphold and surpass the band’s platinum standard. The band in particular picks out ‘do me right’, as “a snapshot of the distinctive pain of the discovery process of a partner’s unfaithfulness, one that is its own kind and can never be derived from anything else”. The tracks echo brb.’s distinct brand of funk-pop electronica, distilling different musical varieties into their very own uniquely refined embodiment of R&B that has bewitched young fans everywhere since their debut just over a year ago.

The result is intoxicating. Infectiously groovy and shamelessly relatable, listeners will be inclined to abuse that replay button, inevitably turning to the poignant lyricism for a virtual friend each time they bid romance adieu again.

‘relationsh*t’ is available everywhere at this link: https://ffm.to/relationshit

Stay tuned for more from brb.. Content for this release can be found in this digital press kit. Tracklist

SB19's Concert "Give In To SB19" Presented by Dunkin' Will Be On A Later Date

3:11:00 AM

When was the last time you went to Dunkin? Me, not every day, but I make sure to visit one when I need to buy something for the kids and my wife. Just like most of us, it has been our go-to brand whenever we crave for that satisfying sweet taste. This year, the brand is giving its patrons more reasons to give in!

The brand's appreciation for its customers is always on full display every year during Dunkin' day, that's when they get free doughnuts and discounts. That's the love of Dunkin', and knowing that its patrons are getting bigger every generation, the company spent time to know what does the youth of today is obsessed with, well, they like K-Pop.

With this, Dunkin' will once again indulge the youth by bringing them closer to their loved K-Pop group, the Sound Break or SB19 with their upcoming major concert at the Araneta Coliseum entitled "Give In to SB19."

SB19 is an interesting blend of Korean instrumentals and OPM vocals, this K-Pop group is the first Filipino boy band trained by Korean entertainment company named ShowBT. The group quickly launched its stardom with the viral fame of their second single, "Go Up," and their inclusion in the international Billboard Next Big Sound Chart.

I remember when I first catch this group on my camera lens, it was an advance screening of a Pinoy and Korean film, where they somehow stand out and thought of actually Koreans. But amidst that, they show professionalism and introduced their group rightfully.

Since we, Pinoys, love treats and freebies, Dunkin' made a special treat to SB19 fans, the "Give In To SB19" concert tickets. It was given away for free through a promotion, which let the fans enjoy their favorite doughnuts while securing their seats for the upcoming concert. According to Dunkin', their VIP voucher seats were exhausted in just 3 minutes! That is how persistent the fans are in giving in with the SB19 concert.

As much as everyone wants the concert to happen according to its original schedule, the "Give in to SB19" concert presented by Dunkin' is slated to happen on a later date given the health risks posed by the developing COVID-19 outbreak. In the meantime, everyone is encouraged to keep their hearts burning up for Sejun, Stell, Ken, Josh, and Justin until the big day comes!

Aspire to Be An Author as CHARO SANTOS-CONCIO, ARDY ROBERTO, MAKIWANDER, AND RICKY LEE Mentors in Writing Workshop

9:37:00 PM

If these renowned people in the industry didn't inspire you to aspire to become a writer? Well, we can say that you have a different talent but if your talent is with words and pen, then you should be part of this workshop.

Charo Santos-Concio, Ardy Roberto, Makiwander, and Ricky Lee will train aspiring authors in the first-ever author search and mentoring program of ABS-CBN Books dubbed “Project Foreword.” Through this new program, writer-participants have a chance to collaborate with some of the country’s most respected authors in creating and having their original works published and promoted by ABS-CBN Books.

Project Foreword was launched last Monday, March 9, with the introduction of its four mentors Ricky, Ardy, Makiwander, and Charo.

First on the list of mentors is ABS-CBN’s chief content officer and author of “My Journey: The Story of an Unexpected Leader” Charo Santos-Concio, who aside from being a media icon has also established herself as an award-winning dramatic actress and the voice of compelling life stories through the drama anthology program “MMK.”

As such, Charo said she deeply values characterization in a story. “The characters have to resonate with me; I really have to know them so well. So the narrative that you bring your characters to has to be engaging.”

Award-winning entrepreneur and sought-after inspirational speaker Ardy Roberto, who has also authored multiple books, including “The Happy Entrepreneur” and “The Heart of Healing”—which won the Gintong Aklat Award for Best Inspirational Book in 2010—is also one of the mentors.

“The fastest-growing segment in publishing is inspirational books. So, me, I'm looking for writers and authors who still believe that miracles still happen and that heroes still exist. . .,” Ardy said.

Meanwhile, Mari Kris De Luna Ogang, known by her readers as Makiwander, is a writer who amassed a following on Wattpad. A winner of The Watty Awards, Maki has already published nine books including the novel adaptation of the Black Sheep film “Between Maybes.”

“This is a good opportunity to invite new generation of writers, they don’t have to be young or new, this is also for those who are dreaming to submit and be published by ABS-CBN,” she shared.

Completing the roster of mentors is multi-awarded screenwriter, novelist, and playwright Ricky Lee, who is perhaps one of the most respected writers in the country for his immense contribution in Philippine theater and cinema. Some of his brainchild include the films “Himala,” “Karnal,” “Muro-Ami,” and “Anak,” as well as the screenplay manual “Trip To Quiapo” and the novel “Para Kay B.”

“If you want to write, you write—whether you’re inspired, have a deadline, to be paid, or joining a contest, you write. Like a baker who makes bread, or a doctor who treats illnesses, as a writer, you write. Don’t wait for any reason, it’s your deal, you write (Kung gusto mong magsulat, magsulat ka—whether inspired ka, o may deadline, o may bayad, o may contest, magsulat ka. Gaya ng panadero, kailangan gumawa ng tinapay, ang doktor kailangang manggamot, eh ikaw manunulat ka, dapat magsulat ka. 'Wag kang maghintay ng rason para magsulat, it’s your deal, you write),” Ricky advised budding writers.

Interested writers can submit their original, previously unpublished works until April 6 for a chance to be a part of Project Foreword.

ABS-CBN Launches ‘TRABAHANAP’ to Give Job Opportunities to Our Blue Collar Job Seekers

12:14:00 AM

To provide an easy platform to look for jobs, this is what ABS-CBN considers when they launched the "Trabahanap." It is actually one of the newest public service initiative of ABS-CBN that offers job openings in different line of works like construction, factories, fastfood centers, and more blue collar jobs.

During the launch Trabahanap and Cinemo Channel Head, Mr. Mark Awiten shares information about the new platform and according to him “Trabahanap fully embodies ABS-CBN’s mission to be of service to the Filipino as it opens opportunities to a vast number of people looking for livelihood.”

According to Trabahanap executives, it all started in CineMo as their way of giving public service to their viewers. And now the job placement service is available in three platforms—online, on air via the CineMo Channel and on INFOplus of ABS-CBN TVplus, and on-ground via job fairs.

With the Trabahanap website, Filipinos are just a click away from the jobs that fit them.

“Applying for jobs is easier now because you just have to log-in, no longer have to ‘walk-in’ to be interviewed by the employer, and because there are also more jobs available that match an applicant’s skills and his desired job,” according to Awiten.

Among its features is a geolocation capability that will find job openings that are near the jobseekers’ homes. Users can set it in any of the 4 distance options, namely 3 kms, 5 kms, 10 ks, and 15 kms.

“We believe that helping Filipinos find jobs is just as important as giving them the chance to have more time with their families,” said Awiten.

A place of work that is close to home also means that workers are less stressed with commute and have more money saved from transportation. “The money that workers can save from commuting can now be used for other family expenses,’ Awiten added.

Jobseekers just need to register and create an account on the website to start using the service.

Trabahanap will join various job fairs around the country to give access to job opportunities to those with no internet connection.

CineMo will also continue to air job postings at the end of every program on ABS-CBN TV Plus.

The public is encouraged to watch CineMo channel and follow Trabahanap on Facebook for announcements on job fairs included in the ABS-CBN Sopresaya truck tour.

Listen to Israeli Singer-Songwriter Vanna's Debut Single "HIGH HOPES" Via Umami Records

11:51:00 PM
Featuring today this Israeli artist, singer-songwriter, VANNA, with her recently released debut single entitled "High Hopes." It is via Singapore based indie label Umami Records, which will capture your attention and would probably listen to more of what's coming from this artist. The single was just released last Friday, 6 March 2020.

Produced by Roy Avital of Tel Aviv based indie-electronic trio Garden City Movement and mastered by Matt Colton (James Blake, Muse, Coldplay), High Hopes is a song about not giving up, even in the darkest, loneliest moments of one’s life. “In the end we must ‘run slow, with high hopes’, be patient, and face the future with optimism.” shares VANNA, “I wanted to let people know that they are not alone and there is always hope.” A gently fingerpicked acoustic guitar sits at the centre of Roy’s production which he combines with VANNA’s unique voice, wafting a piano, strings and other instruments in and out, immersing the listener into the raw emotions of this song.

A music video produced by award-winning independent filmmaker Matan Balalty, set in the beautiful forests of Mount Eitan in Jerusalem, accompanies the release of this single.

High Hopes is the title track of VANNA’s debut EP which will be released throughout 2020. Over the last 3 years, VANNA has been working closely with producer Roy Avital on this EP, delivering a delicate fusion of indie electronic, pop, and folk influenced by artists like RY X, Oscar and the Wolf, SYML and Sóley.

Born and raised in Tel Aviv, of Indian and Iranian parents, VANNA grew up immersed in music, culture and diversity. Creating music is her way of confronting and understanding the turmoil she feels within herself, and she hopes her songs will touch others going through the same struggle. She is also a graduate of the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music.

VANNA’s next show will be at the Hateiva, Tel Aviv on 23 April 2020, and she is planning a tour to Singapore, India and Nepal in the fall of 2020.

Talk About Rare Diseases, Get To Know the Key Provisions of Republic Act 10747 and the IRR

11:12:00 PM

When we talk about rare it explains so many things that are new, undiscovered, special, and so much more. But when it comes to diseases it is something that we shouldn't care less. Just this February was the observance of The National Rare Disease Week (Feb 22-28) and the International Rare Disease Day (Feb 29). Yes it is over already but let us not sit to that event only, instead let us make it as our continuous fight to raise awareness and uplift our friends and family afflicted with rare and orphan disorder still continues.

Okay this may take a bit long of a post together with some of the information about Rare Disease and things that we should know about it. So, if you'll bear with me kindly read more and learn some few things.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), rare diseases or orphan disorders are a “life-threatening or chronically debilitating diseases, which are of such low prevalence that special combined efforts are needed to address them.” In the Philippines, a disease is considered rare when it affects one patient in every 20,000 people in the country until a final definition is formalized by the Technical Working Group of the Department of Health (DOH).

Meanwhile, the Philippine Society for Orphan Disorders, Inc. (PSOD) notes that there are over 7,000 rare diseases identified globally and are typically genetic in origin. As such, rare diseases typically affect children who are oftentimes at risk of a delayed diagnosis or even a misdiagnosis due to a poor understanding of their condition.

Furthermore, the DOH stresses that patients afflicted with rare diseases often have their quality of life reduced and are dependent on other people to attend to their basic needs. They also need lifelong medical care which may range from medications and multidisciplinary therapies to alleviate the symptoms and effects of the disease.

Moreover, PSOD holds a registry of 319 individuals with rare diseases representing 63 rare disorders but due to the rarity of their condition, Filipino patients are burdened with a lack of existing network of support to aid them. Medical assistance is elusive under the conditions of the country’s health priority, and raising awareness for people affected by rare disease still looms.

Hence, the challenge of funding and sustained financial support is also an unfortunate reality for many of our loved ones with Rare Disease. But the cost of treatment should not be directed towards monetary value but to the value for health and drastic improvement in the quality of life that the treatment, support, and management can provide to the Rare Disease community at large.

Thanks to the love and support from our friends in the private and public sector, the Republic Act 10747 or Rare Diseases Act was signed into law in March 2016. The law aims to improve rare disease patients’ access to comprehensive medical care; and among other things, identify interventions, and design research studies on rare diseases; and promote public awareness on rare diseases, among others.

Under this law, the patients are also considered as persons with disabilities (PWDs) and are entitled to the corresponding benefits and privileges such as priority programs and discounts. The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) is also mandated to provide benefit packages for patients, and incentives for donations intended for research on rare diseases.

But this is just a start. We still have a long way to go until all the provisions of RA 10747 are fulfilled.

With this, we invite everyone to join hands with the Rare Disease community and show their love and care for the Rare. If you wish to show your support or make a donation for the Rare Disease community, you may visit the PSOD website at http://psod.org.ph or Facebook on https://www.facebook.com/psod.org.ph for more information.

16 Reasons to Enjoy Chicken at RedHead Chicken

8:20:00 PM

Sumptuous meals are delightful to pair with excellent quenching drinks. When you're into discovering dish for your hungry palate, you'll land to a meal that you will try over and over again. The reason? Well, they have good food, but for this place, they have 16 flavors that you'll want to try and eat all. Just like the tag line of Pokemon, "you gotta catch 'em all!" For this restaurant, RedHead Chicken, it already says on their billboard, "you gotta try them all."

It's not a new concept, but it brings a unique and exotic flavor. RedHead Chicken presents an impressive number of tastes to try together with their unlimited take of chicken wings, drums, and lollipops. If your palate is adventurous, then you'll definitely love its number of flavorings. I did try almost half from their list, and I enjoyed it very much. It's satisfying and it is an answer to your cravings. If I can alphabetize this, I would, but it seems that most of the names of the sauces start with the letter "S."

This newfound place of chicken haven is located, in one of the oldest cities in the Metro, Las Pinas. It is famous for its extraordinary instrument that produces a melodic and enchanting sound called the Bamboo Organ. Since I was in Elementary, this part of the city, has always been part of every itinerary of school tours.

So, enough with the brief history of the place and let us get it on with the food. Oh, by the way, one of the owners is JC Valdepenas. He's the one who entertained us, the bloggers.

So, where do we start? Let us start with the chickens. Yes, the chickens! Served in a wooden bento box style, it makes the dish stands out of the picture. It gives more emphasis on the chicken's golden brown color, rather than the plating, making it more enticing to eat. With today's adventurous taste, restaurant owners tend to make the food experience memorable, and for RedHead Chicken, it's their rooster of flavors that pops out. 16 different relishes are your reasons to go back.

The restaurant has levels of tastes, from sweet and tangy zest up to their extra hot level. The following flavors are:

The Sweet Level
  • Sweet BBQ - we all know it's an all-time favorite and it is loved by kids.
  • Sesame BBQ - your regular BBQ flavored even more with sesame.
  • Lemon Sesame - with a squeeze of lemon.
  • Teriyaki - Japanese style of sweet grill sauce.
  • Salted Egg - which, by the way, I find it not sweet but salty instead.
  • Creamy Cheese - it's sweet but salty because of the cheese.
  • Parmesan - it is the same with the cheese.

The Hot & Sweet Level
  • Spicy Garlic - just make sure you bring along your mint-flavored candies.
  • Spicy Honey - a spicy-sweet taste for someone who loves to mix sweet and spicy.
  • Hickory BBQ - not really sure of its taste, probably will try it once we dine back again very soon.
  • Honey Sriracha - I think this kind of spice is from India. A different kind of spiciness.
  • Spicy Garlic Butter - just like the garlic butter for shrimps.

The Extra Hot Level
  • Sriracha Flame - which is more of the sriracha flavor.
  • Pinoy Diable - this one is interesting because this the first time I tasted something like this. It's actually a spicy bagoong mixed with the chicken as its flavoring.
  • Blazing Hot - which for me is not that too hot.

Take note that if you order the Eat All You Can Chicken, you are given a 2-hour time limit to consume as much as you can. Of course, you need to finish it all without any leftovers. If you feel that you'll be needing something to drink to ease off the spiciness, well, you're in luck because they also have their Milktea, the Snowriffic Tea. It is an interesting pair for your spicy chicken, that's food and drinks in one store. Their drinks too have varieties of flavors to choose from. From your usual milktea flavors down to their fruit teas. More flavors to enjoy with.

Aside from chickens, they also have pasta, fries, and burgers, some variant for you in case you're needing something new other than chicken.

So, are you enticed with the 16 different flavors? Well, if you are, you can visit their stores in Las Pinas, that's beside Bernardo College or the other branches in Makati Area, one in Filmore St. near Cash and Carry and at Dian St near Arellano Ave. Or if you're into business and you find it interesting to have the business in your place, all you need to do is contact their FB Page just click Redhead Chicken. Don't forget to use our code when you decide to push through with the franchise #KWENTONITOTO!

That's it for now and more food and drinks to come!
