Epson and Save the Children Joins Together in Addressing the Challenges of Today's New Normal

7:41:00 AM

Sharing this story about Epson and Save the Children as they both address the challenges of today's new normal. The learning that people get in this life that we are now facing, especially for marginalized communities. The blended approach is particularly difficult for those who may not have the right tools to access educational materials which are badly needed to facilitate learning. To help address this challenge, Epson Philippines partnered with the world’s leading independent children’s organization, Save the Children, for a donation initiative to support blended learning in its partner communities.

The pandemic has disrupted the operations of groups working to establish early learning spaces in the most deprived areas in the country. One such example is Save the Children Philippines’ Kapit Bahay Aralan (KBA), an alternative, neighborhood-based learning program for children residing in urban settlements or in far-flung areas.

This period of remote learning made it harder for the KBAs to continue their operations since they lacked the resources in producing modules and other educational materials for their students, putting the development of early literacy, numeracy, self-care, health practices, and socialization among these children into a halt.

As a global technology leader, Epson recognizes the role it can play in addressing the issues that the new normal posed in all levels of education. Collaborating with Save the Children Philippines, Epson hopes to ease the situation by providing eco-friendly inkjet printers that will help the KBA’s para-teachers [Those who have failed the licensure examination for professional teachers, with a rating of not lower than five percentage points from the passing general average rating, shall be eligible as para-teachers upon issuance by the Board of a two-year special permit, renewable for a non-extendible period of two (2) years. The para-teachers shall be assigned to areas where there is a shortage or absence of a professional teacher, as identified and provided by the Department of Education and the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) education department to the Board for professional teachers and to the Commission. The special permit shall indicate the area of assignment of the para-teacher. Source: Republic Act 9293], students and parents continue with blended learning. Through the donation initiative, Save the Children Philippines received EcoTank L15160 inkjet printers, ink refills and paper supplies to support the remote learning of more than 900 KBA students across six barangays in Caloocan.

Aside from helping make blended learning easier and more attainable for Filipino children, Epson also encourages a shift to sustainable technology among its partners through its new printer sustainability campaign titled Be Cool, which reminds customers that it is possible to maximize productivity while reducing environmental impact. Developed with Epson’s revolutionary Heat-Free Technology, the L15160 printers donated to Save the Children Philippines will be able to produce learning materials efficiently while consuming less energy.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Save the Children Philippines in helping marginalized communities get quality education amid the pandemic. Through our small donation initiative, we hope we can help the para-teachers and students in the community adapt better to learning in the new normal by making printed educational materials more accessible to them,” said Eduardo Bonoan, Head of Marketing for Epson Philippines.

5 Natural Reasons That Entice You To Watch Trese

7:56:00 AM

Okay, from the moment that the news of having a Pinoy animated series taken from the comic book series, things have been inviting already. People are giving their different opinions and thoughts on how it will go. It even adds up when Liza Soberano was the news as the voice of Alexandra Trese in the Filipino version.

I have not read about the comic book, but I'm very excited to watch it already. But, because I slept early than usual, I missed the midnight release. Before I watch the series, I want to share my five natural reasons why viewers and enthusiasts like me, are enticed to watch this new Pinoy anime series Trese presented by Netflix.

  • The first reason is that it is now part of the pop culture that Pinoys are talking about. Basically, if it is a topic that people are chatting with almost everywhere, people get curious. Like what they say, curiosity kills.
  • The second reason, Trese is presented in animation or anime. A more popular way of showing odd stories without compromising the value in the story. Creators tend to be bolder in the portrayal of the characters and scenarios.
  • The third reason that I can share without seeing or reading it is that it presents intriguing folk stories representing the Filipino culture.
  • The fourth reason, hey if you're a Filipino I'm sure you would love to know more about our culture and stories of the things the lurks in the dark.
  • And lastly, the fifth reason, we're Filipinos so let us support and love the works of our Kababayan!

So, there you go and I'm now off to watching it. Oh before I forget Shay Mitchell dubs the voice of Alexandra Trese in the English version.

Just what we need right now are inspirational songs that can light up our darkening paths. Yeng Constantino returns to the music scene with her new original song “Kumapit,” about having faith in God’s supremacy in the thick of turbulent times set to be released this Friday (June 11).

The inspirational track is a poignant piano ballad seamlessly complemented by Yeng’s impassioned vocals. Its lyrics remind listeners that though God may not be physically present, His love and acceptance is always available for everyone.

A partnership between Star Music and CBN Asia’s Reverb Worship, “Kumapit” was written and composed by Yeng, arranged by Tommy Katigbak, and produced by ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo.

CONNECT WITH REAL PEOPLE, VIEWERS LEARN FROM KYLE’S “CLICK, LIKE, SHARE” EPISODE

6:34:00 AM

The first episode of the digital anthology series “Click, Like, Share” starring Kyle Echarri has moved viewers to reevaluate their relationship with technology and loved ones as they gained valuable lessons on the harmful effects of excessive use of mobile devices and social media.

In his episode titled “Reroute,” which is seen on KTX.ph, iWantTFC, TFC IPTV, and Upstream, Brennan (Kyle) becomes increasingly dependent on an invasive virtual assistant, which eventually falls in love with him, ruins his relationship with his girlfriend (Danica Ontengco), and causes a tragedy.

Viewers who have seen the episode were able to relate to the story as they shared how relationships with real people will always be more important than technology.

“It was really beautiful and you impressed us. We witnessed a different @kyle_echarri. I learned that we should value the moments with our loved ones instead of being on our phones all the time because we never know when they will be taken away from us,” said Twitter user @sheerrryyy.

For user @e_fanacc, “Reroute made me realize that the internet and social media world will control our lives once we allow it to do so, that’s why we shouldn’t allow it to take control of our lives. Let’s learn how to connect with real people.”

“#Reroute is somehow a glimpse of our future. With new technological discoveries and advancement, we shouldn’t be surprised if we’ll live in a society controlled by technology. That’s why it’s very important to put boundaries especially on how we use our devices, even social media platforms. Proud of you,” shared @kjpechawii_.

Viewers will be able to gain more insightful lessons in the next episode “Cancelledt,” starring Francine Diaz with Renshi de Guzman and streams on June 12 at 6 PM. Here, Karen (Francine) will be hit with the harsh realities of social media due to her obsession with fame.

This 2022 National Election, What Do You Think of Ping Lacson-Tito Sotto Duo?

4:13:00 PM

Summer has officially ended (I think), seems that the second quarter of the year is about to end, yet, people are already eyeing the names of possible candidates for the National Elections. There were already top 10 names of presidential and vice-presidential candidates spreading around in the webspace. Remember that the Philippines will be having its National Election for President, Vice President, and Senators next year on May 9, 2022.

So, who are the lucky names included in the survey suggested to run for the National Election? Several names were already on the list, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Mayor Sarah Duterte, Mayor Isko Moreno, Sen. Ping Lacson, Sen. Tito Sotto, and many more. But the Sen. Tito Sotto and Sen. Ping Lacson tandem interestingly poked the curiosity of some critics, especially, after the interview of Karen Davila with Sen. Tito Sotto.

During the interview, Karen asked Sen. Sotto if ever he will run for the National Election, who should he pick as his running mate. Sen. Sotto answers without hesitation, "First of all, I’m still considering it. And if I do consider it, the number one on my list would be Sen. Lacson. I know his capability. I know what he can do for the country.” And Sen. Sotto added, "If he runs for president, I will support him!”

There were positive feedbacks on the possible candidate.

As far as my knowledge is concern, ‘di pa nangyayari ‘yun sa ‘Pinas.”

Right now, political parties are convening to endorse their official candidate for the coming National Election. It is a long way to go before the election, but it is good to understand and know the potential leaders of the country.

In other news, Sen. Ping Lacson's son Pampi celebrated his birthday together with his children Thirdy (Jodi Sta. Maria's son) and Mimi (Iwa Moto's daughter). Both children sang a birthday song to Pampi with a cake and a gift. A memorable day indeed for him.

When Pampi was asked about the possible tandem of Sen. Tito Sotto and his father Sen. Ping Lacson, he remains quiet about the matter.

A New Meaning in JAYDA's New Single “M.U.”

8:08:00 AM

In Jayda'a new single, she clearly defines the new meaning of M.U. It's not the usual MU that we've known but embracing a new meaning as she created a bold statement against lack of label in relationships in her latest single “M.U.,” released under Star Music.

“M.U.” is a colloquial acronym that stands for ‘Malabong Usapan,’ and is the focal point of the song which addresses the importance of asserting security in a romantic relationship. “’M.U.’ is about knowing what you want, what you deserve, knowing your worth and what you DON’T want in a relationship. It’s all about wanting clarity,” Jayda stressed.

The pop-infused track is a new writing collaboration between the Kapamilya singer-songwriter and her father Dingdong Avanzado, whom she also worked with for her “Paano Kung Naging Tayo?” single released last February. She also co-produced “M.U.” with ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo.

Meanwhile, the music video for the self-empowering track featuring Francine Diaz was released last May 17, which Jayda co-directed with Edrex Clyde Sanchez. The multifaceted artist previously made her directorial debut for the music video of “Paano Kung Naging Tayo?” which featured former “Pinoy Big Brother: Otso” housemate Rhys Miguel.

As one of the country’s new breed of OPM singer-songwriters, Jayda is set to stage her first-ever major concert on June 26 (Saturday) with a re-run on June 27 (Sunday) via KTX.ph, iWanTTFC, and TFC IPTV. Tickets are still available on the aforementioned platforms for only P499.

Know your worth and stream Jayda’s new song “M.U.,” out now on various digital music platforms. For more details, like Star Music on Facebook (www.facebook.com/starmusicph) and follow it on Twitter and Instagram (@StarMusicPH).
