Pia Wurtzbackh on Her Pia's Postcards Embraces The silent Wonders of Saga in Japan

11:47:00 AM

It's another year and we're going to see another season of Pia Wurtzbach's Pia's Postcards. Pia Wurtzbach returns to Japan to embark on yet another remarkable adventure on the second season of “Pia’s Postcards,” this time exploring a fragment of the land of the rising sun’s quiet countryside—Saga.

The beauty queen helps shine the spotlight on the small prefecture in Kyushu, most famous for being the so-called origin of ceramics in Japan, and for its hot springs. People who are looking to retreat a little from the hustle and bustle of the city life and who generally prefer a more low-key destination may just find comfort in this place.

Join Pia as she visits Cat Café Coron, a charming café which shelters rescued cats, all of which are available for adoption. She also tries her hand in ceramics making, even painting one herself, as well as dropping by Takezaki Fish Port and The Floating Torii Gate of Ouo Shine, which stands on a shallow area of the ocean in Tara-cho.

The lovely host also stops by Hirakawaya, a place popular for its Onsen Yudofu (onsen tofu), a Japanese tofu hot pot boiled with hot spring water that’s a known specialty of the Ureshino Onsen area. She also digs in on some tofu ice cream for the very first time.

The trip also takes Queen P to her very first hot air balloon ride, an experience that gives her a peek into where the largest international hot air balloon competition in Asia—the Saga International Balloon Fiesta—is being held, usually in late October to early November of every year.

Now on its 2nd season, “Pia’s Postcards” has brought the country’s third Miss Universe across fascinating local and foreign destinations where she immerses herself in the wonderful culture of the places she visits. She has previously reveled in Philippine festivals such as the Pahiyas in Quezon and Higalaay in Cagayan de Oro, as well as witnessed the mesmerizing Jinhae Gunhangje Cherry Blossom Festival in South Korea.

Conquer your travel goals this 2020 starting with the captivating natural marvels and artistry of Saga in “Pia’s Postcards,” airing this Sunday (January 19) on Metro Channel, iWant and Metro.Style’s YouTube channel.

CATRIONA Hosts the New Pageant For Kids and More in “IT’S SHOWTIME”

9:34:00 AM

One of the most beautiful woman in the universe is probably the best fit in the new segment of It's Showtime. Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray kickstart the new chapter of her life by bringing her signature charm to noontime TV in ABS-CBN’s “It’s Showtime,” serving as one of the special hosts of its new segment “Mini Ms. U.”

“Mini Ms. U” is a pageant for little girls who want to unleash their inner beauty queen and showcase their wit, talent, and passion for their chosen causes.

“They’re really cute. And just to see them really performing so well on stage and having such high confidence at that age – it’s really amazing to see,” said Catriona, who is also taking lessons to improve her spoken Tagalog.

Each day, three charming young beauty queens will compete to become the daily winner, who will then have a shot at pursuing her advocacy or getting her wish come true in the weekly finals. The grand winner of the competition will have a chance at becoming ABS-CBN’s next child superstar.

“It’s Showtime” also brings good fortune to its madlang people with the new segment “Piling Lucky.” Every day, the show opens its doors to fans who line up at the ABS-CBN Audience Entrance, from which the Lucky 100 will be drawn. From the Lucky 100, the Lucky 20 players will be brought to the studio to carry out challenges using their chosen lucky items in successive rounds.

In the end, only one out of the 20 players will remain to play the ultimate game of luck and win the jackpot prize of P50,000. If no one wins the prize, it will be added to the accumulated jackpot prize money the next day.

“Tawag ng Tanghalan,” Philippine TV’s premier singing competition, also kicked off its fourth year on air as it continues to scour the country and other parts of the world to look for the singing superstar who will follow in the footsteps of grand winners Noven Belleza, Janine Berdin, and Elaine Duran.

The competition boosts the stakes for all contenders in its fourth year, which will place the daily winner or defending champion under the threat of the ‘gong’ in the daily faceoff round. Aside from the punong hurado, other judges can also ‘gong’ a contender if four of them press their buzzers during the performance – a new feature called “power of four.”

Moreover, four industry legends will also be introduced as new members of its esteemed panel of ‘hurados’ soon.

Watch out for more surprises in “Mini Ms. U,” “Piling Lucky,” and the fourth year of “Tawag ng Tanghalan” in “It’s Showtime,” which airs from Mondays to Saturdays on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN HD (Sky Cable ch 167).

Knowledge Channel's “MATHDALI” is Back with New Season

9:12:00 AM

If I remember it correctly the very first TV show that I have watched that explains about math is also from the Kapamilya Network which is titled as "Mathinik". I was glad that they have a new one that is going for its new season, "Mathdali". It's really easy when your cognitive and creativity are in line together.

For this season of Mathdali, Kapamilya actor and Math enthusiast Robi Domingo and his gang, Kuya Igi (Igi Boy Flores), Kuya Vic (Vic Robinson), and twins Ate Joj and Ate Jai (Joj and Jai Agpangan), are back to bring the fun in learning and solving math problems as Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc.’s (KCFI) “MathDali” returns for new episodes this season.

“MathDali” is a program aligned with the K-12 curriculum of the Department of Education and aims to prove that learning Math isn’t difficult as it uses key strategies and practical classroom approaches in making learning more fun and enjoyable for each student.

KCFI developed “MathDali” in 2016 after years of familiarity with the Philippine educational landscape. Through the program, integral life skills like critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration and the growth mindset, which Filipino students need to develop, are honed. The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018 found these as very strong skills-component in students from top performing countries.

“Don’t be afraid of Math because with it, we learn values that we can apply to real life. We don’t just teach kids about numbers and solving problems, we also teach them to be more determined, more patient, and more creative,” Kuya Vic said.

By regularly watching “MathDali,” Filipino students can improve their understanding and practical use of Math concepts, and their scores in tests.

The new season of “MathDali” airs every Sunday on ABS-CBN at 9:15am and everyday at 10:00am-10:30am and 1:30pm-2:00pm on Knowledge Channel on SKY Cable, SKY Direct, and ABS-CBN TV Plus.

A production of Knowledge Channel Foundation, ABS-CBN Corporation, and ABS-CBN Foundation Inc., “MathDali” is a certified child-friendly in the 2019 AnakTV Seal Awards.

“It’s Showtime” was launched as a morning talent-variety show that brought together provinces and cities with each competing group’s performance on-stage. For the past ten years, it has given Filipinos in and out of the country a chance to showcase their talents and also represent their hometowns and respective cultures.

“It’s Showtime” also continues to champion original Pilipino music (OPM) with its popular revival of the legendary singing competition “Tawag ng Tanghalan” and the launch of TNT Records, which aims to introduce new Filipino music icons who not only sing but also create original Filipino music.
