Sometimes when we feel alone, someone comes along and fills the void within us to make us whole again. It can be a friend, a lover, your family, or even a stranger. A psycho-thiller movie that takes place in one of the least inhabited areas in the world, “Nuuk” is an upcoming Filipino movie produced by VIVA Films that will play with your mind and make things around you seem too good to be true.

It stars two of the most admired actors in the country, Aga Muhlach and Alice Dixson.

From being an 80s matinee idol to being paired with various actresses and dubbed as “the leading man of his generation”, Aga Muhlach has been charming us with his killer smile and good looks since his “Bagets” days. But throughout his career, Aga has proven that he is more than just a pretty face, he is also a man with talent. Accepting an award from Gawad Urian and being a FAMAS nominated actor, we have seen him portray different roles to which some are even out of his “leading man” comfort zone. One of his most challenging roles was when he played as the handsome serial killer, Gene Rivera in the 1996 movie “Sa Aking Mga Kamay”

This October, we will once again witness how versatile Aga Muhlach can be as an actor, as he portrays the role of Mark Alvarez, a mysterious man who becomes a confidant to a fellow Filipino in a foreign arctic country, “Nuuk” is Aga’s return to the big screen after his successful 2017 family movie, “Seven Sundays.”

Another star in the movie alongside Aga Muhlach is a renowned Filipina actress who amazes us with her ageless beauty, Alice Dixson. A beauty queen turned actress, this elegant woman is not only pretty to look at, she was also born to be an actress. She became a movie star in the late 80s and from there has earned herself some notable roles, critically acclaimed movies and a best actress award.

This year, she is set to portray another remarkable character as Elaisa Svendsen, a Filipina residing in Greenland who longs for her deceased husband.

Nuuk is the capital city of the autonomous country Greenland. This country has the record of having the highest rate of suicide in the world, with speculations that it’s because of the cold weather or its isolation from other countries, The real reason why suicide often occurs in the country is still unknown.

Here is where Elaisa Svendsen lives, a Filipina who lives in Greenland, who is in despair after her husband dies. With nothing but alcohol and medicine to depend on, Elaisa becomes miserable, then one day, she crosses paths with Mark Alvarez, a fellow Filipino who is almost the same age as her.

Mark becomes Elaisa’s friend, She confides and feels at ease around him, and eventually starts to fall for him. Things are finally starting to get better for Elaisa because of Mark, until a mystery comes along, it appears that nobody recognizes Mark but Elaisa.

Set in the arctic landscapes of Greenland, the location of the movie perfectly parallels with its theme --- dark, cold, mysterious.

Nuuk is the first Filipino movie shot in Greenland, it was also produced in cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark, the one who governs over Greenland. This is also the reunion movie of Aga Muhlach and Alice Dixson or the “AlGa” love team, after doing several movies together during the early 90s.

From the same director of the heart-breaking romantic-comedy set in Iceland, “Through Night and Day” (2018), starring Paolo Contis and Alessandra De Rossi, FAMAS and Gawad Urian nominee Veronica “Roni” Velasco presents a very interesting and intriguing story.

“Nuuk” opens in cinemas this November 6, 2019.

After the performances of the first batch of It's Showtime's Tawag Ng Tanghalan Celebrity Champions, the next batch was introduced to the members of the media last Saturday. There are 19 celebrities that will vie to be part of the TNT Celebrity Champions. Expect different celebrities that will perform this 2nd week of TNT Celebrity Champions

It might be slow when translated but the song is fast enough to convince not only the audience but the judges as well. The song "Mabagal" composed by Dan Tañedo is hailed as this year's winner of ABS CBN's Himig Handog songwriting competition, not only that but managed to bag all the special awards.

Among the 4,000 entries submitted for the songwriting competition, the slow but soothing sound of Mabagal, which is interpreted by Daniel Padilla and Moira Dela Torre took home the P1 million cash prize.

Dan said he initially doubted whether he could make a song infused with a standard sound especially in the wake of pop music’s popularity. “Ang hirap magkaroon ng standard song sa ganitong panahon, iba yung uso ngayon eh, parang panahon yun ng ’50s. Pero buti naging reality yung in-envision ko (It is difficult to produce a standard song in these times as music trend nowadays is different. I wanted a ‘50s feel and what I envisioned became a reality),” he said.

“Mabagal” also swept the competition’s special awards by winning the MOR Philippines’ Choice award, the MYX Choice for Best Music Video award, Star Music’s Choice for Best Produced Track and the Listener’s Choice for Most Streamed Track. Daniel and Moira were also One Music PH’s Choice for Favorite Interpreters.
Meanwhile, Davey Langit, winner of Himig Handog 2016 for his song “Dalawang Letra,” won again this year for his entry “Simula ng Dulo.” The singer-songwriter co-wrote the song with his girlfriend Therese Marie Villarante and bagged half a million cash prize.

From one past winner to another, “Please Lang,” a song by Aikee and interpreted by Alex Gonzaga, was named as the 3rd Best Song, winning P200,000. Aikee also placed 3rd in 2017’s Himig Handog for his song “Ekstensyon.”

Another pair of young composers, Rex Torremoro and Elmar Jann Bolaño, won 4th Best Song for their entry “Nung Tayo Pa,” brought to life by Janella Salvador. They took home a cash prize worth P150,000.

Seventeen-year-olds Jerome Arcangel and Cee Jay Del Rosario took home P100,000 for bagging the 5th Best Song for their composition “Panandalian,” interpreted by TJ Monterde, about a romance cut short.

The Himig Handog 2019 winners were announced on the “ASAP Natin ‘To” stage last Sunday (October 13). “Mabagal” and the rest of the song finalists can be streamed in all online streaming platforms. For all Inigio Pascual fans out there here's something that you might want or interested to know. Inigo Pascual finally dropped the music video for his first solo international single, “Options,” and the much-awaited vid was shot in Seoul, South Korea.

The production was led by South Korean commercial director, Dawittgold, who has previously worked on music videos for K-pop groups such as EXO, FTIsland and NCT.

“It’s the first time that we did this, and I’m claiming it to be successful. I’m thankful for the experience and the people that I met,” shared Inigo who continues to make a name in the international music scene as ABS-CBN seeks to bring outstanding Filipino artists like him to the world stage.

The shoot took two days, with eight different sets in two locations, one of which is a studio solely built for shooting Korean music videos and TV series.

Inigo’s styling for the music video was handpicked and crafted by Young-jin Kim, who has styled Daniel Kang, NCT, Nam Joo Hyuk, and Jason DeRulo. Young-jin chose Yves Saint Laurent and Versace pieces for the Tarsier Records artist.

For a local touch, Inigo takes to the set an original choreography by celebrity dance mentor power couple, Matt Padilla and AC Lalata, who were formerly part of the hip-hop group, Philippine All Stars.

Is it going to be Jerry Yan's replacement or just simply another heartthrob to look out for? Well, whatever it may come, the good news is that we have an interesting story to watch. Yes, this Taiwanese actor-heartthrob, Stephen Rong, is one of the lead stars of iWant’s original romantic comedy-fantasy series “Taiwan That You Love.” In the digital series, Stephen plays Wei-Ting, the brooding bad boy who falls for Barbie Imperial’s Ivi and clashes with Paulo Angeles’ Eric – a love triangle whipped up by a magical book and destiny.

So for those drooling already of his Instagram posts. Here are some interesting facts to know more about this “Taiwan That You Love” star:

1. He’s also an avid fan of the hit “Meteor Garden” series.

Stephen eagerly shares that—like the rest of us—he grew up with the popular F4 series. “I watched it in high school, and that was one of the things that influenced me to go for acting,” says the Taiwanese actor. He even relates to the character of Hua Ze Lei, claiming he is also ‘the quiet one’ who jokes around with people he chooses to open up to.

2. Like most Filipinos, he loves Jollibee.

“I love it! That was the first thing I told them I wanted to eat when I got here. They got me the box with everything,” he excitedly declares. When it comes to Taiwanese food, however, he has a hard time choosing a favorite dish or delicacy, but would totally recommend a comforting bowl of beef noodle soup.

3. He’s single.

Yep, you read that right. Good-looking and physically fit as he is, the Taiwanese cutie isn’t seeing anyone right now. Stephen openly shared that he finds Filipinas attractive. If he were to date one, he claimed that he would probably bring her to Taiwan’s night market or explore the beautiful beaches in Cebu. With his singing chops, he would most likely be serenading the lucky girl with songs from his favorite artists such as Ed Sheeran and Katy Perry.

4. He’s an all-around multi-talented guy but was supposed to be a dentist.

The now actor, singer-songwriter, DJ, model, and the host was born in Virginia, United States, and was a Biology major back in college. But after one wakeup call, he flew to Taiwan by himself and started joining singing competitions. He admits he wasn’t great at it at first, but started getting better and was then offered hosting and acting jobs. Once, he was even challenged in a stage play by performing 18 different characters.

5. He experienced tragedy before realizing he wanted to start acting.

At 19, in his third year of college, Stephen lost a friend to the Virginia Tech shooting. “Because one of my friends was the first one to go… I realized that there are a lot of things that I wanted to do. After his passing, I kind of woke up and decided that I wanted to try entertainment. That’s why I flew to Taiwan by myself and try from scratch to try to find myself in an artistic way,” shares Stephen.

6. He was initially nervous about #PauBie shippers.

Stephen knew he was coming in as another element in Barbie and Paulo’s relationship in the digital series and didn’t want PauBie shippers to hate him. But when he finally met the two, he found himself bonding with them during their eight-day shoot in Taiwan. He only has good things to say about his co-stars, who, he shares, were really helpful and extremely easy to work with.

7. He wants to star in a horror movie.

He doesn’t want to be the last survivor though. “I really want to be the second to the last person who dies. That person doesn’t live, but he sacrifices himself for that last person,” he explains. He also wants to try out Kung Fu movies, as “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” was his favorite movie growing up.
