Christian Bautista Blogger's Night Event

9:37:00 AM

CHRISTIAN BAUTISTA starred in his first international film A Special Symphony. He is part of the first Pan-Asian musical TV series The Kitchen Musical. He is also the only recording artist to receive a 4x Platinum Record Award for Romance Revisited: The Love Songs Of Jose Mari Chan for 2011. He worked with Grammy-nominated pianist Jim Brickman, K-Pop R&B trio One Way, and fronted for the concerts of K-Pop sensations Rain and 2NE1. He also topbilled jampacked concerts here and abroad. He also has numerous endorsements tucked under his belt coupled with billboards all over the Metro and has consistently won numerous awards and citations.

With all these career highlights, Christian Bautista remains humble expressing and thankful for all these blessings. “Ever since I took the very first steps in my career, I cherished all the lessons and experiences I’ve gained through all those years- the ups and downs, the highlights and the difficult moments. These helped me hone my craft and led me to doors of opportunities. Every recognition that goes my way, favorable or critical comments on my work challenge me to do better because I owe it to my audience that I utilize my full potential,” says Christian with a smile.

It is a dream of many artists and performers to collaborate with some of the most respected people in the international recording scene. But the chance of it happening is pretty slim. That is unless you are Christian Bautista.

Today, Asiansation Christian Bautista adds another feather to his cap as he launches his first international album Outbound.

Outbound features Christian’s collaboration with music producers and artists he met and worked with from the United States, Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Indonesia.

“It’s the first time that we want to try and attempt to do more outside the country. [And] Yes, I’m very proud of this album,” says Christian, smiling.

The album consists of eight songs which is a good mix of slow and upbeat ballads. The first single All That’s Left offers Christian’s new, bolder sound, and further proves that he is more than just a balladeer.

“Slowly nag-build up kasi ‘yan because of The Kitchen Musical. Parang nabigyan ako ng confidence to try something na kakaiba, na mas current na contemporary. So I told myself, sige let’s try this,” says Christian.

While taping for The Kitchen Musical, Christian never stopped to get in touch with some of the region’s movers in the music industry until he met Tat Tong, composer of the anthemic All That’s Left.

In a phone interview, Christian shares, “Tat Tong kasi is a friend of Kewei [Tay]. Kewei and I did a duet for Please Be Careful With My Heart in Singapore. She later on, introduced me to Tat. And then through e-mail, I asked him: ‘Hey! I’m coming up with a new album. Do you have songs?’ So he gave us one [and] we all liked it. After that, we told him na, ‘Okay, make three more! Haha. [And] With Tat Tong kasi, steady lang kami e. We would throw ideas and stuff. And if it doesn’t work out, we would always tell na okay let’s do the thing tomorrow. We write and write and we never stop…”

And write they did. The remarkable results were All That’s Left and the other song Unphotographable.

Tat’s other masterpieces-original songs in Outbound include What Can I Do and his masterful arrangement on Christian’s cover of George Michael’s Faith, which is very special for Christian because it was used in his first big solo number in The Kitchen Musical.

Aside from Christian’s collaborations with Tat, Outbound gathers its noteworthy works with Grammy-nominated multi-platinum instrumentalist Jim Brickman for Never Far Away, the K-Pop R&B trio One Way for Wrong Number, Indonesian songwriter Satrio for the hit song I’m Already King, and with Avex Japan’s amazing Baby M for the lovely duet Sakura.

Christian’s music videos always feature familiar and beautiful female celebrities: from Anne Curtis, Georgina Wilson, Solenn Heusaff, and Angel Locsin (in Beautiful Girl) to Cristine Reyes (in I Remember The Girl) to Paula Taylor (in Tell Me Your Name) to Carmen Soo (in Afraid for Love to Fade) to Angelica Panganiban (in Nakaraang Pasko) to Sarah Geronimo (in Please Be Careful With My Heart).

n All That’s Left, it features CosPlay Queen Alodia Gosiengfiao. When asked what’s like working with her, Christian says, “Alodia’s beautiful, she’s talented, she stayed up with us [from] 8 PM to 8 AM. We danced all night long until 3 AM. It was fun.”

And while it’s apparent that Outbound has drawn him out of his comfort zone, Christian admits that it does not mean he will stop being a balladeer.

“For this album talaga kasi medyo half-half. Half experimental, half-medyo ballad pa rin naman siya. [And] Easy listening pa rin naman. Pero definitely I’m not going to drop the ballads,” he says, smiling. “Kasi siyempre, nagsimula ako sa ballads and du’n naman talaga ako kumportable. So hindi ko p’wedeng iwanan talaga ‘yun.”

As a performer, Christian believes he’s improved, but he’s not reached his peak. “Honestly, I do feel that I’m at my best so far. [But] I just hope I’m not at my best.”

He adds, “[And] As I continue this journey, I have reached another turn on the road ahead. This is the right time to pursue new paths and directions. And there is no better way to begin this new and exciting phase than to share my latest work with you. With your support and a personal sense of renewed energy and devotion, I am ready to face the challenge of the future.”

Outbound is out now in all major record bars nationwide under Universal Records.

The 2011 BonPen Festival Experience

11:12:00 AM

We, Filipinos have always been fond of festivals and festivities. It’s our way of celebrating life. It’s our thanksgiving! The richness of surroundings, the abundance of resources, and the natural beauty of a place makes us thankful of what nature provide us.

Quezon is one of the provinces in the southern part of Luzon. It is the last province before the Bicol region. Because of its natural resources, it is one of the provinces that celebrate most festivities.

There’s a portion of Quezon Province that is not greatly known for it that it can offer but because of the perseverance of their local officials they are now making names and celebrating what their land has to offer.

Discover BonPen, or commonly known as the BonPen Festival , has now reached its second celebration through the effort of the people and their local government officials who are eager enough to make things happen. For this year they celebrate this last October 28-29 and the host is the town of Pitogo.

What is BonPen? That’s actually what I have in mind before covering their event and then later on that’s what I always get whenever I share my BonPen Festival experience. So what is BonPen? According to the locals and to our ever reliable and patient tour guide, Majoy, BonPen is the name of the land that comprises of 12 municipalities of the 3rd District of Quezon called Bondoc Peninsula. A place of mountains and a peninsula that’s what is Bondoc Peninsula, abundant with resources from the mountain and from the sea.

Yes I was fortunate enough to be one of the bloggers that got a chance to cover their great event. It’s a new experience for me and an addition to my number of covered events. Another great about this experience is that it is my first time to cover an out of town event. I just hope to get more invites from other provinces.

The experience is interesting because I get a taste and feel of the culture in Quezon Province. Even though it was not that long but maximizing the entire duration did give me new learning and better understanding of the place and the people. The curiosity and the blood of being a historian still flow. Hmmm…..

BonPen Festival not only offers the festivity but the entire culture of the Bondoc Peninsula. Their great beaches that is mostly untouched and still undiscovered by tourist. Their rich historical places and artifacts are also one of the great things to see in BonPen. It is perhaps one of the great means in understanding more of the Philippine History. And of course one of the best parts in every festivity is the cuisines, dishes, and menus that BonPen offers to their visitors and guests.

For this season the BonPen Festival celebrated a lot of activities. The Green Mile which is a simultaneous tree planting that aims to plant thousands of trees in Quezon leaded by their beloved Governor David “Jay Jay” Suarez and was graced by Jun Jun Binay. There were also a fun run themed as Takbo at Padyak BonPen Para sa Kalikasan, Konsiyerto Para sa Kalikasan and Beerfest, a cook-off competition of different cookings schools called Kulinarya BonPen, AgriTrade Fair and the Mr. and Ms. BonPen.

Generally, the BonPen experience was great and it did give me a realization that there are thousands of great things about the Philippines and as a blogger it is my duty to share and let other people know that there’s more to see and to explore. Discover Philippines, discover BonPen!

Note this is only the toppings of the experience, more detailed experiences coming soon.

Globe's Today I Will Campaign Moved Anne Curtis

5:19:00 PM
“Today I Will Go Lang Ng Go.” I never thought before that this was a commercial campaign created by Globe. When I first saw this I thought it was just a status of one of my friend who posted it on Facebook but when I check out my Twitter I did saw some tweets that has a TodayIwill hash tag. I got curious so I tried to look for it and got surprised that it was Globe’s commercial campaign. Silly me!

I have seen the commercial a few times already and I never thought that it will also engage in twitter and facebook, more commonly on twitter. Social media has indeed broken the barriers. There’s no reason for people not to see the commercial, whether it is on TV or online. Plus the campaign has become more engaging and people participate in it.

Some of whom I know participated as well in Globe’s campaign and even celebrities did participate in the #TodayIwill tweets. To list some of them, below are screenshots of their tweets.

It is really nice knowing that celebrities do participate in this kind of campaign.  It was even nicer knowing that rival company’s endorser also did participate in the campaign.  Yes! I read it in PinoyGossipBoy’s blog that Anne Curtis Smith, the endorser of the rival telecommunication company, has indeed joined in the campaign through her twitter. Unfortunately, Anne Curtis Smith removed the tweet from her twitter account. Perhaps she realized that it was the campaign of the rival company that she was endorsing.

This is Anne Curtis tweet taken from Pinoy Gossip Boy's Blog post.
Perhaps the campaign of the rival channel network should apply to her “Think Before You Click!”

In my opinion, Anne Curtis should have thought about it before she posted something like it. She’s a celebrity, a public figure and an endorser so everything that she does or post should be thought thoroughly. She might get into trouble if she keeps on doing that. Nonetheless, the campaign was really appealing that’s why she was moved to participate in the campaign.

If you haven't seen the Globe's commercial, here it is and get moved by "TodayIWill!"

Real LIFE Foundation: Putting the Fun Back In Run

1:40:00 PM
Many people are now getting into running, not just into loosing weight and getting fit but also getting the fun out of it. Running alone does not really give you motivation and the boost to go run for more and finish what is intended to finish.

I have been running on my own during my bachelor days but I never had a chance to join any running event. My supposedly 1st time to join the running event was hindered by the typhoon before. Maybe it meant to happen.

My recent run was unprepared. Very much unprepared because I run with only a Sandugo Sandals and take note I run 5K (watch out for the upcoming post about BonPen Festival). It was really an unusual experience. I was able to finish the run in 35 minutes which is not bad for a runner on sandals.

On November 12, 2011 I will be joining the Race for LIFE 2011 which was organized by Real Life Foundation to support their educational advocacy. I just hope and pray that I will be able to wake up early and be there at the venue ahead of time.

There will be a 3K, 5K and 10K race and also an “Amazing Race” Big and Small team category wherein one adult and one chile (5-10 years old) will run, skip, hop and much more to the finish line. If you have not registered yet, it is still available at the following
